after seeing the pense/harris debate i happened to see a fly buzzing around and got the idea of capturing it and hypnotized it to whisper into peoples ears "buy bitcoin."

i mean if trump could hypnotize a fly in order to feed answers to pense during the debate i figure ill try the same thing.

so catch those flies, hypnotize them and put them to work. bitcoin to the moon!

"what do you have to lose?"

Even with the antivirus installed in your system, you still do not know what programs are running behind and which one is harmful to you.

most all antivirus programs look for malware based on signatures of the virus once its out in the wild (many employ other algorithms too of course) . once its been analyzed and verified its bad they will add its signature to the database. so its pretty easy to write something from scratch that no AV program has a signature for yet.

so dont rely on just AV, you can still get burned hard. reasearch the wallet you use before using it, even if its just an update. 10 minutes with your favorite search engine can save much grief (and coins). and make sure to verify the download with the verification hashes given by the project/dev.
1684  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 2FA app on desktop on: October 09, 2020, 11:20:48 AM
2fa should always be on a separate device, thats the point. maybe it should have been called "2nd device authentication" instead.

something like a yubikey or its equivalent is the best option IMO. the client (or website, whatever) will prompt you to insert it into a usb port (some support NFC also, so can be used for phones too). associate at least two in case you lose one, and keep the 2nd (or multiple) off site somewhere in case of loss.

just to chime in.

i have been questioned on occasion as to why i merited a post as i have merited both (or more) sides of a position. simple answer is i found them informative, civil and well presented. so yes i merit people i dont really like (well those not on ignore although if they were quoted and i like it i will go back and merit it) and positions i dont agree with.

this has often resulted in my meriting a series of posts in a particular thread supporting many positions i may not personally have an opinion on or agree with.

im here to learn and any post that teaches me something can get merited.

the original ethpill (in the OP) has been removed. the new ones are malware/virus

from what i understand the straps option (might be called something else?) now in claymore largely accomplishes the same thing.

When I was a conservative it meant fiscally conservative and now it means socially (religiously) conservative.

The right has been hijacked.
Quote
Irony abounds.

You got that right.

I don't know what the right is anymore.  It has splintered into several factions... Neocon hawks that are actually democrats, and conspiracy theorists.  While the left has become the actual thing that they are saying the right is... Just the mirror image. Basically woke fascists.

I seriously think it could be the prelude to the (some sort of?) Apocalypse. Lol.

two apocalypses in a row? isnt that against the rules?
1689  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [BET] Trump or not Trump 2020, eddie13 vs suchmoon on: October 03, 2020, 05:47:52 PM
But back onto the thread here. I do think that the speed with which Trump recovers from COVID is going to change the poll numbers. If it's fast, he can point to the fact that it's just like the FLU and blah blah blah. If it's not, well he can't really sweep this under the rug anymore. Hard to hide this stuff when you're being sent to the hospital.

he got early access to experimental drugs and has 7 or 8 MDs (offhand count i did when his MD gave the briefing an hour ago or so) looking after him. so hes got the entire resources of the usa looking after him. and he is still in the hospital

more importantly, hes not tweeting 100 times a day or whatever his regular rate is or doing phone meetings. even i can do that with a nasty flu and im ancient and lazy af. he must be pretty down.

even trump could have a problem spinning this as a minor thing. but since he is such a bigly healthy strongly geniusly person maybe he will.
1690  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Presidential debates on: October 03, 2020, 05:29:42 PM
Yeah I think filing deadlines for a good amount of states have passed at this point. Not fully sure if someone could replace Trump (or Biden) on the ticket at this point. That's not even thinking about the fact that TONS of people have already voted by mail, and those votes can not be changed even if the candidate has died or has become incapacitated in some way up to this point.

I suppose Congress could delay the election, but we're too deadlocked to even let that happen. You'd need both sides of congress to agree on that, and the GOP controls the Senate while the DNC controls the House.

In summary: If one of them dies, the other will most likely win and that'll be the end of the election.

pretty sure that the rules are that if trump is incapacitated or croaks before the election is settled any existing vote for him goes to whoever republican candidate is then picked by the republican party. so pense i assume, and a new vp is chosen by the republican party. so previously cast votes get counted for the same party no matter who drops out. its up to the party itself to pick a replacement.

there are (or were) a couple services that i disabled in win10 1709 and that machine has not updated since. pretty sure i didnt do any dns stuff (for instance my hosts file is still stock). but again that version 1709.

that was from a guide i found online a couple years ago. so i have no idea where i got it or if that method (disabling various services only) still works.

I'm still on version 1709 too.
Here is that guide:

1) How to Disable Drivers Update in Windows 10:
Windows key+R > Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter > Navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.
Double-click "Do not include drivers with Windows Update" and set it to Enabled.

2) How to Disable Windows 10 Update:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.
Double-click "Configure Automatic Updates" and set it to Disabled.

that sounds about right. the only disadvantage is if you add oddball hardware you need to install the drivers manually. which isnt a big deal on a rig that doesnt see hardware changes for long periods of time.

Are you using Windows 10? Then most likely it was some forced Windows update which included new drivers for your AMD GPUs. I ran into this problem a few times in the past. It would either not hash at all because all the overclocking settings were reset OR it would hash at a slow speed because compute mode was disabled by default.

It was a pain in the butt to disable but somehow with some reg hack I was able to prevent any updates from happening again. Search the web and there is a guide on how to disable Windows 10 updates. Its pretty indepth and you need to block access to certain DNS hosts.

1695  Other / Meta / Re: Don't send PMs begging for merits. on: October 02, 2020, 03:26:31 PM
Make merits to decay so that we can see the actual merits provided by the admin to an ideal circulation for the forum. @OgNasty had done some good support on newbie in the Beginners & Help section by giving them almost 7 merits just signing in bitcoin address and verify them one by one. I think getting in to member rank is not difficult for those newbie who had been rewarded with the merits rewarded by him.

I saw many users here that are doing great in making statistics and that would be good to determine here the statistics of number of users per rank. So that admin can check whether it is really need to give more merits or not depending on the number of users as per rank.

Decaying merits would still be the best option I guess. However, I think that admins had plan on this already and they just going to implement it on the right time. Of course if you are planning so must think ahead so that you can avoid possible technical mistakes for the forum and to the users of bitcointalk. We'll have to wait, see and trust the admin.

sMerits given to merit sources every month (as opposed to regular merits) do disappear 30 days after they are given. use em or lose em as they say. these monthly sMerits given do not show in a sources merit count ( this one everyone sees under to your account name). regular merits given to folks by non sources do last forever. or until theymos changes things.

also regular merits given to sources act like regular merits given to anyone else.

of course they way i described this is probably even more confusing. im pretty good at getting things wrong and/or not explaining well.

edit: i did receive a rather confusing PM recently.

Archived all posted/quoted signed message on this thread for future use https://archive.is/pfJSu
This link includes only posts made in this page not all posts in the thread. Once you open a different page, you redirect to bitcointalk unless the page has been archived by someone before.
You need to archive all pages one by one.
Can use LoyceV's tool instead.

https://loyce.club/archive/details/topic_996318.html

guess why that explains why page 1 is archived when i checked the link before. but yeah i just checked a couple random pages and it did indeed redirect back here to bitcointalk.

If you don't mind can you please what is the meaning of SC. I mean SC stands whats for. It is juts a curious, nothing else.

just personal info for my use, sorry. thanks for verifying

I know you signed your message from this address 1Eei6rJywMqEfXfjUiqanBdPvpRbGEVmPU

However, it is better to keep your stake message in same format as the others here. Despite of it is not a big problem but I see some newbies simply take a very last staked message and use it as their format. It can bring some weird situation when they don't know where to put their address.

I think your staked message should be posted like this (just my 2 cents)  Smiley
Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
[proper format]
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

thanks for the info, its been a while. i will post a new addy in the proper format in a bit.

Any Nostradamus type characters in here wanna make a prediction for harvest day next year?
