17823  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: Is bitcoin a risky invesment ? on: June 04, 2012, 11:19:35 PM
When it all started to take shape bitcoin was regarded as a high risk investment with Huge potential.

1) Its well understood that the bitcoin economy, regardless of its size ( a highly speculative figure ), will not be affected by price fluctuation. ( 1$ / BTC or 10$ / BTC, for merchants this is meaningless).

2) Speculation as to bitcoins huge potential growth as the #1 online payment solution, appears to have been short lived ( the bubble  Wink )

3) Speculation as to bitcoin price movement is still very much alive, and so we have a high number of day traders trading bitcoins

4) Investors have no reason to fear bitcoin will fail anymore, the claims of bitcoins secure transactions and being impossible to counterfeit have been time tested and proven true

With all this said and done, bitcoin has proven itself.
The market is growing and has reached an equilibrium.

I would say bitcoin has become a medium risk investment while keeping its Huge potential.

But!

this Huge potential isn't priced into today's market rate. because Speculators have become skeptical as to bitcoin ever reaching main stream.

Most bitcoin Speculators agree, bitcoin will not suddenly grow100times its size in a matter of weeks. they belevie bitcoin will grow in a limited and gradual manner from now on.

They're jumping the gun on this one!
yes, Bitcoin will grow gradually, but it will also have grow spurts, as new technologies and ideas enable bitcoin to be more easily used and accepted

17828  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Fed will not ease. on: June 04, 2012, 08:06:03 PM
I'm just putting this out there.

There will be no direct QE from the Fed, but it will be done through the back door of inflating currencies other than the USD. Because, their aim is not to create a net inflation for the USD, but for all the world's currencies as a whole. The net effect will be the world chasing after USD.

Do I think gold and BTC will keep pace with the USD? Yes I do.

If I am correct we will continue to see an erosion of USD as a percent of BTC trading volume. Currently 74% as reported by Bitcoincharts. And a concomitant reduction of Gox's market share as it is largely driven by USD volume, currently 61%.

first you say this will mean everyone will want to use USD
then you say we will see less USD / BTC trading volume

please explain

Hi,

I do not want to go trough Bitmit.
I will accept escrow with any free escrow provider stickied on the lending subforum, if you take care of it.

Thanks.

hi,

i would like to buy your 4. SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 5830 - 20 BTC shipped 2 pieces

could you put it up on bitmit so we can easily do escrow?

you'd get a nice rating on bitmit, once the transaction is complete.

also what do you mean 2 pieces?

after some digging i found a review of you as a seller, ( it was a very positive review )
that and your donator status on these forums gives me confidence, and i believe we can for go the escrow.

please PM me payment address
I will PM you my address

the wall is a lie

maybe the lack of walls is the lie  Wink
17833  Economy / Speculation / Re: are you all watching? on: June 04, 2012, 04:31:22 AM
if only.

i personally do not find it seductive to sell into 5.20 wall.
Will not support it either.

Yes looks like it's stuck at $5.20-5.27

Not going anywhere.  Might as well wait for the real price increase in December, since there is no reason for the price to really go up unless demand overtakes the daily inflation of bitcoin.

Forget about the effect of the December change from 50 BTC to 25 BTC as price predictor. This is already priced in as it is public knowledge.

It's also public knowledge that the price will reduce to 12.5 BTC, to 6.25 BTC, etc.  Would you say this is also priced in?

I would say that is priced in as much as the 50->25.  You either know the story or you don't.  The 50->25 may catch some by surprise since you don't have to understand these details to actually use bitcoin, but after a few halvings people will know what's up and it will be completely priced in by the time it happens.

i think each mining reward drop will be fully priced in 6 - 12 months After its actually happens... its effect will be felt gradually

The Bitcoinica disaster is enough action if you ask me lately, thank you.

The Bitcoinica disaster might have been a disaster for Bitcoinica speculators; I don't think it's such a disaster for Bitcoin

why? If they get coins back it beats being "tonged".

bitcoin is to useful to be a fad.
Unfortunately it seems like much to technical for the average joe!
And if it enters the high powered ASICs chapter it might end up highly speculative for those guys again.

It looks highly unlikely anyone gets anything back. They need the rest of the money to pay for their lawyers.

Bitcoinica getting hacked was unavoidable

we all hoped they really did go to extreme measures to get a bulletproof app.

but that was not the case.

now 2 or 3 new "Bitcoinica"s will come and compete

each will be better then bitcoina and only one will be the best

I have never seen it down, at least not recently, and I have the order book opened all the time while I am working on the computer and refresh it often throughout the day.

But what I would like to know is... who is that Mr. 2.54
filling up the order book and making it less useful with garbage like this:

 Angry

Yes that guy is a goof, he actually thinks it puts people in the dark.

I encourage you to use this link to find his top major bid, and slide your bid under it.

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/virtexCAD_depth.html

In this case douchebag is 500 coins at 5.22..   so slide it under... Smiley

2.54 is a moron...

You mean (s)he floods the order book so orders of others are not visible via cavirtex site?

(s)he's probably trying to minimize fees
cuz ya 10cents on a 200$ order makes all the difference...

If your dealing with less then 10k btc, standard client with encryption on a computer deemed "safe"  is probably all right..

The number of peeps who have lost btc to keylogger trojans that stole the encryption key is very small...

I primarily want offline storage in the case of hard drive failure.

Just copy the wallet.dat to a thumbdrive and store it offsite.

Or create a paper wallet, laminate it, and store it offsite in a safe.

or create a paper wallet, memoriz the key and destroy the paper

Store your savings in your head! Cool
