181  Economy / Economics / Re: Hardship as a global problem on: March 22, 2024, 09:56:36 PM
It’s tough to predict the future but the idea of nations coming together to address hardship globally is not impossible. It would require strong international cooperation, shared values & effective leadership. Overcoming challenges like poverty, inequality & conflict on a global scale would require a collective effort & a shift in mindset towards viewing hardship as a shared problem rather than individual nations responsibility. It’s complex & a long term process but the potential for nations to unite & work towards universal solutions does exist.
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: dogecoin futures market to launch on Coinbase on: March 22, 2024, 09:40:03 PM
Coinbase must be feeling like they want to be sued by the SEC for listing futures markets on unregistered securities again. Dogecoin isn’t going away, it has a hugely loyal community. I don’t think it’s wise for Coinbase to go this way though, especially as they are suppliers & custodians to the Spot Bitcoin ETFs. They become more mainstream & legit in one way but then lean the other way by offering questionable assets elsewhere.
183  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Everything falls on leadership on: March 22, 2024, 08:56:55 PM
Good leadership is crucial to the success of any country or democracy. A strong leader inspires & guides their people towards common goals & promotes social and economic progress. They make informed decisions, prioritise the welfare of their citizens & ensure fair governance. Effective leadership builds trust & maintains stability. The opposite way though with poor leadership can lead to instability, economic decline, social unrest & a loss of confidence in the government. So basically good leadership is essential for the growth, development & overall well being of a country & its democracy.
184  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 22, 2024, 07:00:48 PM
Despite increasing prices people continue to spend. Inflation erodes the purchasing power of money making it necessary for individuals to spend more to maintain their standard of living. I guess societal & peer pressure as well as psychological factors like the fear of missing out drive people to spend. There is easy access to credit & the desire for instant gratification contribute to increased spending. People may also prioritise certain expenses such as basic necessities or personal preferences which leads to continued spending despite rising prices.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not try out a less popular but promising token? on: March 22, 2024, 05:23:43 PM
Trying out new, unknown, less popular tokens is actually a really good idea. The big value is in low - mid cap coins/tokens that haven’t exploded yet. Sure you will hit a good amount of total rugpulls & scams but you only need one absolute moon bound one to get rich.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum vs Solana on: March 22, 2024, 03:21:16 PM
Both are good coins, Ethereum has a long term reputation of good trustworthiness, longevity is obviously a big positive for anything you want to invest in. There is probably more upside with Solana though, it could outperform Ethereum over the short to mid term & deliver higher ROI.
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA vs Smart DCA, what do you choose? on: March 22, 2024, 03:12:57 PM
It doesn’t really matter if you are willing to hold for a couple of cycles, you will outperform most, if not all, legacy investments. The main thing is you’re buying regularly, it doesn’t make a whole world of difference if you smash buy a few times or DCA over a long period. Just have some skin in the game.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you this the current correction was local bottom price for alts? on: March 22, 2024, 02:44:01 PM
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but looks like we are set to go down again & test short term lows once more. If Bitcoin doesn’t hold a test of 60000 then I think it could get ugly for altcoins. I’m really hoping for recovery over the weekend, at least the GBTC outflow might stop.
189  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve Meeting Today! March 20, 2024 on: March 20, 2024, 02:22:50 PM
I think he will cut by .25%

Everyone seems sure he will stay frozen.

If you look back at the 2007-2008 fuckup. That is what they did stay frozen 3 adjustment in row frozen and they crashed it all.

So my guess is he shakes things up and cuts a bit.

Interesting, that would be bullish for Bitcoin & other risk-on assets. I think rates will stay the same but hopefully you’re right.
190  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve Meeting Today! March 20, 2024 on: March 20, 2024, 11:06:03 AM
I’m unsure how the markets will react to the expected news that rates are kept at 5.5%

I agree that he will not cut rates yet, rumours are that May is the earliest it would happen. I still think we are in a precarious position, the threat of recession is not yet over.
191  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic growth and it effect on the standard of living on: March 20, 2024, 09:40:20 AM
It’s often associated with improvements in the standard of living. When the economy grows businesses expand which created more job opportunities & higher incomes. This leads to increased purchasing power, improved access to goods & services plus higher living standards for individuals & households. Economic growth also enables governments to invest in infrastructure, education & healthcare further enhancing the quality of life for citizens. Economic growth does definitely play a crucial role in improving the standard of living.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Seems like Sound money on: March 19, 2024, 08:18:24 PM
USDT has large reserves & has many years of trust earned. I trust it enough to leave a moderate amount of money parked on an exchange with limit buy orders set to buy crypto with but like anything, don’t leave more than you can afford to lose on any third party exchange. I trust USDT more than most crypto.
193  Economy / Economics / Re: Senators pressure SEC’s Gensler not to approve any more crypto ETFs on: March 19, 2024, 08:05:56 PM
Bitcoin is decentralised, not controlled by any one entity. It’s part of the reason why it’s unlikely to see any other crypto spot etf approved any time soon. I actually don’t think others should he approved, how do you approve a spot etf for a coin or token like ethereum when it’s largely controlled by one individual who can burn active supply coins at any time? It’s too open for manipulation & it’s why the SEC is unlikely to be in a rush to approve any others.
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ~~~When did you first heard about bitcoin 2024 Halving edition~~ on: March 19, 2024, 06:29:11 PM
2014 but bought my first coins a year later. I was early enough for it to make a significantly positive impact on my life but not too early so it was cents per coin. Those uber early people, some of them have hardly anything, if any coins left. We are still early enough for new investors to do very well if they buy & HODL for years.
195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think about the freedom of speech in the USA? on: March 19, 2024, 04:48:05 PM
Freedom of speech is a problem in all Western nations due to woke policies & the modern day fear of offending people. If you ask me, people have become too soft, all this crap about there being multiple genders, homosexuality everywhere, the current world is absolute haram. Large companies don’t employ the best person, they try to hit quotas. During the last election, people were censored, during COVID actual MD’s with opposing views were cancelled, it’s a load of crap. I would rather live in Russia or something, they don’t stand for this crap.
196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is investment a necessity or a want? on: March 19, 2024, 02:44:07 PM
Nobody should pursue investing in assets ahead of their own health. What is the point having lots of money if you’re very ill or worse, dead. Buying cryptocurrency is great but I would not do so if I couldn’t afford healthcare. Your friend needs to sort out his priorities, especially if he has a family.
197  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycott of Chinese products and economic relations - when ? on: March 17, 2024, 08:00:25 AM
It’s unlikely that there will ever be a boycott of Chinese products & economic relations. China is such a huge manufacturer. It’s cheap to get them to make products & ship them all over the world so I don’t think it’s likely any time soon that there is a boycott of Chinese products & economic relations.
198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What really makes pastors children rebel? on: March 14, 2024, 10:45:28 AM
In this situation maybe a young child thinks having a Pastor as a Father isn’t cool. Maybe they don’t want to be labelled as a person of God, a goodie goodie so to say, so it makes them want to rebel. Potentially they want to show their peers that they are not like their Father, not a man of religion so they make extra effort to rebel & not conform to what society expects from a Pastor’s son.
199  Economy / Economics / Re: Early exposure of children to wealth and investments on: March 14, 2024, 10:34:32 AM
I think children should learn about money & money management quite early in their lives. You can start by rewarding them with pocket money each week for doing tasks around the house. You can allow them to save up for something they really want or budget weekly to afford sweets, chocolate or whatever. I won’t tell my kids exactly how much money I make but I will teach them about Bitcoin & how to use it so they can take over when I die.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can governments crack down on crypto? on: March 14, 2024, 09:33:48 AM
Governments can & do crack down on crypto. They may not be able to 100% stop it but they can make things a lot more difficult for people to access. If you are desperate to use it then Tor & or a VPN can be used but if governments in a certain country ban crypto it can cause price volatility but also how can you find on/off fiat ramps. P2P trading can only go so far.
