1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are you planning to accumulate for 2025 on: March 08, 2023, 08:51:25 PM
I just plan to continue accumulating bitcoin, ethereum, cardano, shib & maybe a few more if they spike my interest. I think we could still go lower in the entire crypto space so now is a great time to start dollar cost averaging if you haven’t already.

The bitcoin block reward halving is Q2 or Q3 in 2024 so we have plenty of time to continue buying until the fireworks really start.

1163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dose drugs have an advantage on human being. on: March 08, 2023, 07:37:05 PM
I can’t recommend anybody to take drugs, addiction can cause devastating effects. Lots of people experiment with drugs when they’re young & if you are the type of person who is strong minded & can leave something after trying it a small number of times then why not, you are only young once.

Addiction destroys lives & families though so if you’re not really strong mentally then I would advise against trying anything even once. Some of the greatest & most respected minds in history took class A drugs, like I said though I can’t advise you to do anything. A bit like one of the big rules in crypto, Do Your Own Research.
1164  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you going to pay $8 a month to Elon Musk? on: March 08, 2023, 05:16:29 PM
Wikipedia defines a tick as "Ticks (order Ixodida) are parasitic arachnids that are part of the mite superorder ". I haven't ever heard Elon Musk described as such a thing. Smiley

UK people call it a Blue Tick, Jet Cash. I think check mark is the more popular, Americanised term but yeah, it’s commonly referred to Blue Tick by people in the UK.

1165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 08, 2023, 03:56:21 PM
Always good to get more people on board with bitcoin. Buying 0.01BTC isn’t going to make him rich but it’s an interesting venture for him to follow.

You got him involved at a good time when we are in a bear market. Would have upset him buying in 2021 & seeing the price go down. We should be somewhere near the bottom now so he can enjoy it going up in 2024 & 2025 .

He will most certainly do better with his money in bitcoin rather than fiat long term. Make sure he knows how to buy more & use cold storage to hold his bitcoin if you know how.

1166  Other / Off-topic / Re: Happy Womens Day to all the womenfolk on BCT on: March 08, 2023, 02:52:14 PM
I don’t think there are too many confirmed women on here. Happy Women's Day to the genuine females on here though, we appreciate everything you do for us. The world can’t run well without good women, both those in business & those who stay home to do the tough but rewarding job of bringing up children.

Some good women to follow in bitcoin -

1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you guys think that there will be a new technology to recover lost of Bitcoin on: March 08, 2023, 02:18:34 PM
No I don’t think there will be a tech to recover lost bitcoin. If the blockchain was ever able to be rewinded so people could claim lost access to coins then the price would go to $0. There would be scam attempts left, right & center.

Bitcoin is an irreversible ledger designed to be the most secure method of transferring money. There are no refunds & no chargebacks. Look after the access to your coins, don’t expect anybody else to.
1168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will You Survive The Biden Regime? Liberal Media Ignores Massive Inflation... on: March 08, 2023, 06:15:53 AM
Governments lie, literally all of them do. They don’t care one bit about any of us. All they want is our votes, tgey don’t care about our well being at all. The cost of living crisis doesn’t bother them at all as long as we are able to continue to be good little worker ants & pay our taxes.

Hopefully inflation will go down to 2% or something but I think the standard of living is going to get worse for most people before it gets better. We are going to go into a deep recession, the government just won’t admit it yet..
1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which cryptocurrency do you prefer the most to accept payments in? on: March 08, 2023, 12:41:30 AM
I have to be honest & say that my favourite cryptocurrency to receive payments in is by far bitcoin. It’s the most established, trustworthy coin. Bitcoin has the most potential to be a mainstream payment tool & it isn’t even close.

Nothing else can match bitcoin, it’s as simple as that. People will try to shill you their bags of other coins & tokens but when it comes down to cold, hard facts nothing compares to bitcoin.
1170  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you going to pay $8 a month to Elon Musk? on: March 08, 2023, 12:27:45 AM
I am certainly not going to pay for a blue tick. I don’t see any positives in having one unless the old way, you are a celebrity or public figure. Any random guy can have a blue tick now & I don’t see anything good that you get for it.

I have actually seen memes of people making fun of dudes who pay for the blue tick. I definitely won’t be getting one.
1171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sam Bankman-Fried bribed politicians for favor. on: March 03, 2023, 10:22:14 PM
I was so surprised when I saw everything that happened with FTX. I was sure they were one of the good guys. I know we had MtGox & we’re taught, not your keys not your coins but I just did not see FTX being one of the bad guys.

SBF turned out to be one of the worst fraudsters in financial history. I hope him & his whole team go to jail for a long time. So many people are financially ruined due to their dishonesty & incompetence.
1172  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can you quit your job for a bounty-hunting full time on: March 03, 2023, 10:15:56 PM
I would not advise you to walk away from a guaranteed income, a safe job. Bounty hunting is very unreliable & at worst totally pointless. I think you should probably just find a job you enjoy & work really hard to be the best you can at it. The dream of earning lots of money bounty hunting is likely just that, a dream.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Our thoughts on Solana currently? on: March 03, 2023, 10:07:08 PM
I’ve said previously that I own some Solana, I’m going to keep it because I would hate if it mooned & I’d sold it all.
I just don’t think a coin that has had so many problems, so much downtime can ever truly succeed. Trust is eroded, it must be surely.

I just don’t see how it can ever be seen as a serious investment when they can’t even keep it live. It’s a joke to be honest, I’m just glad I don’t have a larger commitment to the project.
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: March 03, 2023, 09:15:47 PM
It depends who you ask & where you ask it. Some people are just really dumb, you can take a horse to warer but can’t make it drink. I’d like to think if you asked people on Wall Street or some other high profile financial district they’d take the bitcoin.

I guess as humans there is a psychology around risk levels. Nobody ever gets rich playing it safe, the people who choose the bitcoin will probably do better in life. I’d love to see a study that followed the people over 30 years & see who did better in life, the guy who chooses the $ or the BTC.
1175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Shiba Inu still worth it? on: March 03, 2023, 07:41:47 PM
All it takes is a bunch of public figures, celebs or whatever to start shilling in the next big bull run & it could definitely pump. Let’s wait & see, it’s definitely not a bad token to have a position in. I wouldn’t advise anything more than 10% of your crypto portfolio but it has a high ceiling for sure.
1176  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many peoples in the world had lost their Bitcoin private keys? 🔑 on: March 03, 2023, 12:37:21 PM
There’s an estimated close to 4 million coins lost/unaccessible.

1177  Other / Off-topic / Re: Qualities of a good moderator on: March 02, 2023, 08:43:33 PM
I guess the most important thing for a moderator to do is enforce the rules of the forum (whichever forum that may be). Bitcointalk is actually good in the sense that free speech is encouraged here, it’s actually quite difficult to get banned. There are no snowflake rules here & I love that. The most enforced rule I see here for bans distributed is for plagiarism.

I see people getting posts deleted for being low quality of off topic, people enjoy reporting posts here so a moderator must respond to reports subjectively.

I haven’t seen any bad moderating here, you can tell that because it’s very rare you see people starting threads to complain about the moderating.

1178  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you generate and manage your passwords? on: March 02, 2023, 08:37:58 PM
Might not be a good idea to start telling people on a forum that has many gifted tech skilled people, how you generate passwords.

Only a bit of advice but it’s good to keep sensitive info private.
1179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Politics consequence on crypto on: March 02, 2023, 08:33:52 PM
Governments can have an effect on crypto, both positive & negative. We saw a negative way with China banning bitcoin (again). This caused the price to tumble, I remember going from 45k to 28k within hours. We can also see a positive way like El Salvador adopting bitcoin as official currency.

Governments don’t like crypto because it empowers the people. They will try to put as many hurdles in the way as possible but they are happy to take our tax money from profits.

Eventually governments will have to take a knee to bitcoin.
1180  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bill Introduced To Ban Fed From Issuing CBDC on: March 01, 2023, 03:01:32 PM
If this bill would only be adopted, Bitcoin could remain king for who knows how long yet.

Bitcoin will remain King with or without CBDC’s. People buy/invest in bitcoin for totally different reasons to why a CBDC would be issued & used. Bitcoin has a hard cap of 21,000,000. CBDC’s are just a fiat shitcoin with a finite supply, they will create them & just mint more whenever they feel like it.

A CBDC is just spyware for the government to track everything you spend your money on. Bitcoin is an inflation fighter, hard money where you are in control. CBDC’s pose no significant risk-to bitcoin long term.
