181  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Solve the puzzle, win 0.5 BTC on: November 27, 2020, 07:33:33 PM
Or have I misunderstood something?
Yes, you definitely have.

-> Who holds the private key? Some right? And that someone is the organizer of the puzzle? What is the guarantee the organizers didn't share the private key with their friends or will share the private keys with their friends to declare them as a winner? The entire point of the contest is the promotion which they will get anyway since everybody will keep on trying expecting themselves to be a winner. In the end, the organizer will declare one of their own as a winner and the while thing could be planned.
182  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Solve the puzzle, win 0.5 BTC on: November 27, 2020, 07:15:02 PM
This is Interesting! I just doubt one part of such puzzles that is - What if the winner chosen is one of their own employees or friends participating? There is no transparency at all and if they already know who is going to be the winner then it doesn't make sense for others to waste their time brainstorming.

I think that it is much more profitable for them to have the puzzle as long as possible. This is public attention, promotion, advertising ... This is a way to promote.
Yes, but they will get the promotion anyway since people will be trying to get that 0.50 BTC. The puzzle will run for say 1 month and they would have thousands of groups solving the puzzle and when they decide the winner, they could just give it to one of their friends and no one would know. Their goal is achieved, promotion is done, money saved.

184  Economy / Services / Re: Seeking Experienced Partners to Build BTC Wallet on: November 27, 2020, 06:53:49 PM
My idea is simple, develop a crypto wallet in their native currency; thus establishing the foundation to build on.
Crypto Wallet in their native currency? You do know right Crypto and Native currencies are two different things? I'm pretty sure there are multiple wallets out there that provide the same service and pretty reputed ones like Coinbase.

What do you want your wallet to achieve that isn't currently supported by the existing wallets? Also, why would you want a crypto wallet to be anything else than a crypto wallet? Electrum - Ask them to use Electrum.
185  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Localbitcoin.com is scam I list 1.8 BTC on: November 27, 2020, 06:48:32 PM
It's curious that a company like Localbitcoin / localbitcoins.com find it necessary to defraud people.
They don't. They aren't usually involved in any sort of scam accusations without the accuser being faulty of something. Whatever mentioned in this post is OP's side of the story but you don't know if that's all accurate right?

@OP: There is nothing you can do here but just get in touch with their support again and try to sort things out. If you still think they're defrauding you, you can take legal actions against them. You've already submitted your KYC and stuff and they're a pretty legit exchange so your case will be taken seriously.
186  Economy / Reputation / Re: 1xBit.com Coming back to Bitcointalk, Solving all the issues. on: November 26, 2020, 09:36:50 PM
We greatly appreciate that you give us a chance by posting your question here on bitcointalk.
While 1xBit team does its best to help you with your problem here you can have a look at recently solved issues:
Apart from @Tim's issue, all the other issues you've solved seems like your own sock puppet newbie accounts with 2-3 posts. You know, you can't play that card here. If you really want to help solve the existing issues, I can link all the existing cases, and see how you resolve them one by one? You can start on the case posted above by the user bleedrulez and update us on the same?
187  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: I Created an App that Helps You Practice Trading - TradingGYM on: November 26, 2020, 09:28:28 PM
Interesting stuff. If I understand correctly, all the data that's there is static and doesn't change? You cannot actually place a demo investment on an asset and see it's value? Basically, the app does the job of reading how the candle chart works or how to analyze it rather than teaching the actual trading? Would love to see if we can have a demo investment with fake coins and have the value of the coin randomly go-up or down making the chart and its history very dynamic. Sort of replicating the actual market.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reason for calling Bitcoin scam on: November 26, 2020, 09:22:28 PM
Why do people still think it is scam?
Why do people still think it not going to be the future

1) Well, all the bitcoiners think Banks are a scam right? The same applies the other way around. People have opinions and you should only care what you think. Don't try to change their opinions. You know Bitcoin's progress did change a lot of those negative feedbacks.
2) Going to be? It IS the future. PayPal is supporting it, so are thousands of other businesses out there.
189  Economy / Scam Accusations / [UniSwap Scams] Fake UniSwap Links/Apps/Giveaways/Mails to avoid! on: November 26, 2020, 08:21:39 PM
I've recently seen a lot of UniSwap related scams popping up on this board so thought I could keep a consolidated thread where all the scams related to UniSwap can be reported or checked before participating in any of them. I've taken the below reports from this board and you certainly can add your own in the post which I will update in the main thread.

190  Other / Meta / Re: [QUIZZ] The (unofficial) live quizz of the 11th anniversary of Bitcointalk on: November 26, 2020, 08:02:19 PM
That's it, the maximum number of participants has been reached. I'll spare you the details, but I was anally violated by Kahoot and I thought I would use a trial version, but when I logged back into my old account, it activated the payment. 288€ in my ass... Last week was not a good week for me. But I can create quizz for a year Smiley.
Anyway the Bitcointalk 11th anniversary quizz is now over.
Damn man that was a necessary evil! 288€ ain't no joke!  Grin

How about everybody commenting here for Halab to create another one create sort of a prize pool and contribute to all the costs involved in organizing the quiz? If money is involved, I'm sure members would take the quiz more seriously and Halab doesn't have to shell money out of his pockets.
191  Other / Meta / Re: Why isn't trust visible on every board? on: November 26, 2020, 07:22:35 PM
Agreeing with @suchmoon here

I wouldn't really care how much trusted the person is if they answer my query on the Technical Support or Development sections. Having a red trust doesn't invalidate anyone of their opinions in the relevant sections where their trust ratings don't make sense.

Suppose you posted a query regarding cryptography and someone with a red trust gave you a very detailed accurate answer, would you not consider it because of their trust? If you would, then there's no point in showing trust ratings in the first place.
192  Other / Meta / Re: Vote for the community!!! on: November 26, 2020, 07:11:16 PM
I actually feel bad for this dude. Seems like he is going through the real pain of losing a precious account.  Cry

Sorry to inform you mate but creating threads, rebelling against the forum or the staff is not going to change anything. You will be just wasting time and creating more problems for yourself. Lock this thread. Smiley
193  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake Uniswap app on: November 26, 2020, 05:01:08 AM
Crazy how all the fake UniSwap apps are popping up these days. Anyway, that executable wouldn't do any harm to your machine I reckon since you're on a Mac which doesn't support the executables. Another reason why Apple beats Android or Windows when it comes to security. A number of fake UniSwap apps have taken over PlayStore as well.
194  Other / Meta / Re: Do you want more or less freedom? on: November 25, 2020, 11:50:51 PM
Does freedom/free will even exist in a world full of hedonists? Forum is a very small part of it, and if one can't get themselves used to the rules here, they must rebel against the governments, the communists, the hippies, and the cults.

It's time Theymos introduces a checkbox while creating an account on the forum to abide by the terms and conditions here so all the wannabe Marxists can fuck right off from the start.
195  Other / Meta / Re: The Avatar would have to be optional in signature campaigns? on: November 25, 2020, 11:39:37 PM
If several users reply in the same thread with the same campaign on their avatar, then it becomes annoying to be constantly checking who the responding user is
That's exactly the reason why campaigns want you to wear the avatar it does the job of getting them famous around the forum especially if they have hired quality posters in their campaign! Smiley Remember all those annoying YouTube ads? You'd never use their product but sure you'd know such a product exists!

Also, no one is forcing you to join a signature campaign. You can't be getting paid for a job and have your own rules while doing it. I don't understand the reasoning of some here.
196  Economy / Gambling / Re: WELCOME TO ANONYMOUS CASINO – BITCOIN CASINO ONLINE on: November 25, 2020, 11:33:26 PM
Does it not surprise anybody that they are
Quote
Created in 2014. We are the world's first professional cryptocurrency casino. We have united the leading providers of the global gambling industry on one platform.
and this their first official thread on bitcointalk? Took them 6 years to realize that there is massive gambling-related traffic here?  Undecided The domain seems to be old enough. Hard to take their project seriously without a properly formatted ANN or reviews from the old players there. I still can't digest the fact they're into crypto gambling since 2014 and this is their "first" time posting on bitcointalk.
197  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: TransferWise withheld my money on: November 25, 2020, 11:22:56 PM
I use TransferWise to transfer funds to exchanges. they don't allow trading bitcoin so my account got deactivated and money withheld. I was told will be a refund but haven't received it yet.
You're not trading bitcoin? You're just sending funds to an exchange that trades bitcoin. On your end, you're sending money to any other bank out as you normally would. I'm surprised how they found out you're sending money to a crypto trading exchange. I mean you could transfer money from your real bank account and I think they wouldn't bother checking.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Covid effect and Crpto blessing on: November 25, 2020, 11:17:33 PM
I think it is the one of the blessing in my life to get out of my struggles .
This proves Bitcoin is a blessing! Smiley Happy that it helped you out!

I've heard several cases over the years and have personally experienced how bitcoin and cryptos, in general, had a backup when things financially were getting harder for some in real life including me. Surprisingly, the crypto industry is some of the few that weren't affected due to COVID.
199  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Paid] Looking for technical trading strategy creators on: November 25, 2020, 11:11:46 PM
Great, I'll PM you and we can discuss things in detail.
Thanks!

If the reason to be anonymous is just to avoid linking real people with their forum identities here, I can post a public links for people to apply directly to join us independently. That way, there would be no way to trace them back to usernames here.
I doubt it's about linking real profiles to forum identities. Rather, wanting to be anonymous is something very common in bitcoin's ecosystem. On the other side, I don't know how staying anonymous can make me less productive in any kind of business. I'll quote nullius here,

200  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Paid] Looking for technical trading strategy creators on: November 24, 2020, 11:01:54 PM
This seems promising and happy you've laid out the requirements clearly.

I could classify myself as a noob trader but quite acquainted with how trading works and have immense interest in learning more about how stuff works from the professionals.

The skills I bring to the table:
1) Computer Science Engineer and a passionate coder so technical knowledge wouldn't be a problem so does coding.
2) Quick learner
3) I work with a number of AI/ML tools and strategies so coming with a unique trading strategy sounds very interesting.
4) I'm also into psychology and thereby its related fields like cognitive science which could potentially help to frame a model on "how to think or how they think".

I wouldn't publicly post my experience here but can do it privately. Also, would be great if you could allow creators to stay anonymous throughout the entire process.

Having said that, I would again consider if the pay is worth my time and how challenging the work is for me. If it's repetitive and the learning outcomes aren't enough for my self-development then I'd reconsider. But again, it's worth a shot. Smiley
