261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs more women. on: November 11, 2020, 11:44:15 PM
The world of investing has long been accused of being a male-dominated “old-boys club”. Women in this environment frequently complain that they are frozen out, treated badly or have to work harder than men to make good.

Where are you getting this information from? You can literally sit at home and invest in stocks. That can't be male-dominated now.

So you would have thought that the 21st century’s developing fetch scene might have leveled the playing field between the sexes. However, evidence suggests the rush to online finance platforms and investments has done nothing to boost equality.

You can't force gender equality by forcing people of a specific gender to use the platform. The process is online and very transparent I doubt services will provide subpar support or target only clients of a specific gender.

Instead, the digitally driven world of artificial intelligence, Bitcoin and blockchain is as sexually unbalanced as the banking, property and commodity markets industries that preceded it. Tech industries are inherently male-dominated for reasons that include boys being introduced to gadgets at a younger age, leading to just 16% of computer science undergraduates being female.

How is that a man's fault? The beauty and fashion industry are well dominated by women as well.

Our mission is to help improve decision-making by generating more accurate predictions about the greatest possible range of future events.  We do this by aggregating the “wisdom of the crowd” into a single, easy to understand percentage estimate for the likelihood of that event to occur.

WHAT has that to do anything with gambling? For a moment I thought you're like  Science related research and development company. Nice selling there mate.  Wink Also, it is wrong to say you will predict if that event will occur, for instance, if an asteroid is passing by earth you'd probably take bets on the chances of that asteroid hitting the earth. Which is unpredictable so whatever the crowd bets on you can't estimate anything.

There are probably still people out there who hate me from the days I was a Mod at Rollin's Chatter Box. That's one of the reasons I like my privacy.
Exactly that further justifies my point of why meeting random people from bitcointalk is a bad idea.

I'd be curious to meet people, but I know from past (dating) experience it's usually not how you expect people to be Tongue
Tinder is shit. Tongue

And, as I have always said, pull a gun on me, take my wallet & phone. It's still not life altering money. If you have that much on you when meeting someone you only know from the internet then you're a dumbass.
Agree. So the board should be called "I'm in the area if you know me personally let's hang out".

Also scored the highest ever on the UKCAT medical aptitude test here in the UK.
What was your score if I may ask? I'm not accusing you or anything but doing a quick google search shows some different results. Well, sort of the official score holders list is featured on UCAT'S website and I doubt you'd want to Dox yourself.

My average was over 850 for each section and I got a perfect score on abstract reasoning. This was in 2011. At the time I was told it was the highest score anybody had ever seen and likely the highest score ever, though I can see a few people nowadays have scored over 3500.
Ahh just so you know, your record has been broken in 2013 by this lady https://www.ucat.ac.uk/ucat/practice-tests/candidate-advice/#:~:text=Score%3A%203560%20London.,score%20of%203540%20in%202013 ( with the score of 3560, scroll to the bottom) which is the highest score for now. Regardless, you'd make the best tutor for the OP. Nice to see some smart people around the forum. Smiley

Something along the lines of, "I'm going to be in the Zion National Park area for a couple of days next week, anyone want to grab a beer and a burger?"
Now imagine posting that when you're some kind of a famous member on bitcointalk who usually reports shitpoters or busts scams and you're travelling to a third world country. I reckon they wouldn't miss the golden opportunity to beat the sit out of you.

There are legit meet-up groups on sites like Meet-up which should be used instead.
268  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can escrow service on bitcointalk be trusted? on: November 10, 2020, 10:03:26 PM
Hi,

Can anyone share your experience of using the escrow service of bitcointalk here?
Have used multiple escrows on bitcointalk over time and yes, they can be trusted provided you know what you're doing. Definitely do your due diligence before randomly picking up an escrow from the list some random person recommended.

Can it be trusted or scams still exists? And how exactly does the escrow work?
Thanks a lot!
Don't recollect any major escrow scams by the trusted escrows. The way they work depends on your trade. I'd say always go for a multi-sig escrow between all the parties involved in a trade so one doesn't have direct access to all the funds.
269  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sportsbooks that aren’t paying out on Biden winning the US Presidential Election on: November 10, 2020, 09:56:23 PM
They probably are waiting for this petition to be signed and presented to the supreme court so the votes will be counted again. https://www.change.org/p/the-supreme-court-of-the-united-states-recount-or-revote-the-entire-2020-presidential-election

Who knows they will get a different president and your winning bets would be void then?  Grin I will really not be surprised if any of those sportsbooks use this as an actual excuse.
270  Economy / Reputation / Re: Pawanjin, Cheater on Hhampuz campaign (Duelbits). Need any DT member attention on: November 10, 2020, 09:43:12 PM
maybe it's because those cases that you reported on this thread are cases from the past. do you have any recent complaints? because all I saw are things that happened in the past years and I don't see why someone would be leaving negative feedback because of something that happened 1 year or more years ago.
I think you've been a member long enough on the forum to know how far someone can go to get someone tagged for something they did ages ago.  Grin

@cheater detecter - Is there any recent suspicious activity that triggered you about this account? Having said that, all other cases are okay but managing a campaign and enrolling your alt's in it is sketch as fuckk.
271  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Would the bitcoin blockchain work for voting? on: November 10, 2020, 09:35:39 PM
So far... there have been some 144 million votes counted in the US Election, just for the presidental ballot (not including all the senate, house, governor and other "proposition" ballots)... and that's not even 100% of them (nor 100% of the eligible votes in the US)... imagine 144 million transactions being flooded into the network in the course of 1 week... let alone one (election) day. Shocked
The scalability issue if ever bitcoin's blockchain implemented on that commercial level, I'm sure it will be taken care of. For instance, instead of the entire country vote in a single day, do it state per day.

Apart from all the technical challenges mentioned above, would it actually be feasible for all the non-tech savvy people to learn about the voting system on blockchain just for 1 day? Remote areas with no internet, old folks with no technology at all, will find it extremely hard to cast their votes. I believe, even if the bitcoin blockchain-based system is ready, the world isn't.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has it occurred? Or still in progress on: November 10, 2020, 09:25:22 PM
On the eve of Halloween 31 October 2008 satoshi wrote
"I have been working on a electronic cash system that's fully peer- to -peer ,with no trusted third party."
Can we say that his work has been done or is still a work in progress .
His work on his end should be considered done. Less he knew the system he proposed will be commercialized in a negative way.

" What has been the development of Bitcoin and improvement since that statement was made till now?
And will Bitcoin (satoshi dream or goal ) be fully accepted in the world as a means of payment?.
You can follow that yourself on the GitHub repo and maybe look at the release notes for each release? https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin
To answer the last part, don't know where you read it was Satoshi's dream to let bitcoin become the primary currency of the world. As of now, is bitcoin accept as a mode of payment? Yes!
273  Economy / Reputation / Re: Arcas -- Bought account? on: November 10, 2020, 09:16:37 PM
And yes, I know that the troll must not be fed, but I'm a bit fed up about seeing threads getting derailed; and it's not really up to hitting the ignore button on my end, because he keeps on getting replies
Why don't you report his posts to the mods as "off-topic"? If they were as 'dealing' the conversation as you mentioned, would get deleted. Regarding asking for a signed message, they would simply come out with an excuse "I lost access to that wallet" and sign with an address staked by the new owner.

Right there should be enough proof to know the account changed hands but who knows they could also say "I moved to Indonesia in that year".
274  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Why are there no BTT Discord bot? on: November 09, 2020, 08:36:32 PM
I'm just thinking of an idea of developing a Bot in Discord where it can do the same thing as the current Telegram Super Notifier Bot by TryNinja[1]. yet I lack of knowledge when it comes to implementing a webscraper to be reactive in the BOT in any servers in Discord.
Doubt you will be doing any "web scrapping". @TryNinja as mentioned has an HTTP API you can simply call the URL's with correct params. I can help you set things up if you want?  Will anyone actually use this though? Is your discord server even active or has members for that matter? Check if people are interested and then proceed with the bot.

You don't need any, as there is no authentication (at least for now). Just make the requests and you're good.
Does your server gets flooded with requests or it's well load balanced? Nice of you to not have authentication. Btw what did you write the docs in? Are they autogenerated?
275  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: P2P gambling idea - discussion on: November 09, 2020, 08:22:12 PM

- My girlfriend at that time answered: That's Just Eat
Before that I never heard of Just Eat. So I looked on the web and felt so frustrated that someone already had the idea and already built a decent market. At that time Just Eat had just started according to my research.

To be honest, if you would have started a better App than Just-Eat, you would be successful. Just-Eat has a terrible UI and much worse business model. If I place an order from my phone directly to the restaurant, I sure can save a fiver.

Earlier today I was thinking :
How about a betting platform where user A will offer an odd of his choice in a match/event/anything X, if user B likes this offer then they will accept it. Simple P2P betting.
We will provide the platform. The source of income for the platform owners will be a small percentage of every winning by users. Win - win for both users and platform owners.
This has been done/presented numerous times before and AFAIK, there are a few websites in operations providing the same service.

I would love to hear some opinion about this P2P platform idea. Please share your creative observation and features that could be useful to enhance the platform. Also, don't hesitate to leave your pessimistic thoughts too.
Why would you want to put all the efforts into creating a platform when you can literally have a discord server, a trusted escrow with minimal escrow fee, and someone to manage all of it? I mean you can start from this and if it's getting big, you can start with an actual website.
276  Economy / Reputation / Re: nullius abusing his DT powers? Share your thoughts here. on: November 09, 2020, 08:12:02 PM
"Abuse" the DT system, I think these words are getting quite meaningless and getting old..
It's an algorithm, how do you abuse an algorithm? It's not like it has a clutch to burn out..

You can abuse an algorithm, can't you? Not literally abuse it but misuse it, break it or feed it unexpected inputs so the outputs are unexpected. I don't necessarily agree that the said user has abused the system but you know what OP intended to say.

I see no problem with anyone doing anything they like within the bounds of the DT system.. Just prepare to be excluded if you are against the majority, or included if you are with..
(even pen testers [evil!!], they are valuable too)
What or who defines the bounds of the DT system? Theymos? In that case, the algorithm can only function one way. There are no bounds as such I believe, and every case is handled individual basis.

As much as I'm inclined towards have those thread sticked in the B&H section I'm equally on the negative side of it. I mean there will always be accounts who are lazy enough to not read those threads and create a new thread asking the same question regardless.
