1121  Other / Meta / Re: Possible Merit Glitch? on: April 10, 2018, 07:26:18 AM
EDIT : I was correct. You did send two merits one after the another. There is no glitch, lock the thread.

It has been reported many times already. Refreshing the page will double send Merits and it is also possible to double-click the send button and do the same.

Is the case same here ? Maybe I'm missing on the 'reported many' part, mind linking me to one of those threads where this glitch is actively being discussed ? I thought the OP sent one merit after the other and just couldn't see it due to page refreshing stuff.Anyway,I don't know if this has been discussed before but I found something interesting while fiddling with the merit input box. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3292443.msg34351320#msg34351320
1122  Other / Meta / Hidden Input Boxes on the Merit Page on: April 10, 2018, 07:25:59 AM
Not sure if anyone has noticed this before but I found something interesting while fiddling on the merit page. Two mysterious hidden inputs.

What are those ?
1123  Other / Meta / Re: Possible Merit Glitch? on: April 10, 2018, 07:02:49 AM
So I recently merited this post . With 1 merit (or so I thought Shocked)

Since I was on mobile for that time, and chrome has a feature where if you pull down on the screen while on a webpage, the webpage will refresh. When I accidentally did this, my page refreshed and the poster received 2 merits, not 1.

Is there a possible fix for this? Is it a forum wide problem or just my phone?

~Zapo
- I somewhat understand your issue.Merits are not updated real-time and you need to refresh the page multiple times to see the final updated values. You could have sent him two merits, not at the same time but one after the other and hence the glitch. You could see the first one but saw the updated one as the page was refreshed.

 - I believe sending two merits was the case.Or are you very sure you never sent two merits ?

EDIT : I was correct. You did send two merits one after the another. There is no glitch, lock the thread.

1124  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitpay and RBF on: April 10, 2018, 06:57:04 AM

Thanks. I didn't bother asking Bitpay because anytime I email them, they respond with a bunch of useless boilerplates and never address the question.

I know they are looking for a payment in the mempool to move the invoice to a "processing" state, which stops the 15-min timer. But I had actually assumed the opposite -- that this event linked the invoice to the specific transaction hash. I figured maybe their API isn't set up to recognize a different hash outside the 15-min window. I might try it with a little $10 purchase later just to see what happens.
If you ask,the entire idea of bitpay sounds quite useless to me.I wonder how the fuck they choose to no include the most important feature of any bitcoin related service that is the showing the address where funds are suppose to be sent.
That 15 minutes window is just an add on feature to mark as a transaction being broadcasted and it wouldn't really help if someone has double spent a transaction.
1125  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining without the hassles of mining on: April 09, 2018, 05:20:46 PM
Not that I'm the smartest person when it comes bitcoin related stuff but can someone please explain how can cloud mining be very profitable to anyone when normal mining isn't profitable either ? Like does this virtualisation decrease the mining difficult or they actually have mining farms spread over 100 acres of area which needs to be rented so they can make profits ?
1126  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: All Crypto assets stolen from Exodus - Anything I can do? on: April 09, 2018, 05:15:05 PM
Why or why people still don't understand the basics. Do you honestly believe that someone needs you to enter your seed on any phishing website in order to get compromised? No mate. A simple injection through an exploit on the page is all that's needed and voila, I now control your computer, be it via botnet, keylogger or whatever else, the rest is just details.
-  It's not just basics when ethical hacking is involved.
-  What page ? Which exploit ? What if OP never opened their browser ? How did the payload got injected in his computer ?
-  BotNet really ? I hope you have a fair idea of what you're talking.Keylogger,yes.There are higher chances of getting his account compromised though a keylogger in this case.
1127  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pornhub Casino now accepting bitcoin and many other cryptocurrency! ph.casino on: April 09, 2018, 05:11:27 PM
I'm not opening any links as I don't trust the sources/not sure what the content would be.Is this actually related to the porn website ? Did they ran their own casino ? Embarrassed Embarrassed I'm certainly living under a cave if I come to realise the top players of the porn world are also into the crypto gambling scene.
1128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 🔥🔥 BlockChina.io - Unify China on the Blockchain 🔥🔥 New! on: April 09, 2018, 05:06:00 PM
I thought I'd seen them all. Reminds me somewhat of that old Romance of the Three Kingdoms boardgame. The idea would definitely appeal to those who like nation conquering, except that there has to be more of a gaming element, rather than just collectible value - or the richest players just ruin the game very quickly.
Or the richest gets to win them all ? Sounds like a typical capitalist concept to me.

Either way,OP are you somehow affiliated with blockstates.io ? They have a fairly similar concept and they choose to offer New York City as their kingdom to conquer. The underlying concept is almost the same with a different country and their culture.
1129  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Which online wallet for bitcoin is safer? on: April 09, 2018, 05:02:04 PM
Coinbase wallet currently supporting 4 crypto currencies BTC,ETH,LTC and BCH but they also might add ERC20 token into their wallet in the near future. And coinbase also have cold storage option and coinbase claiming that is very safe to store the coins in long term but I am not sure it is safe as much as the software wallets which has private key.
Do you have access to their cold wallet ? How do you know their cold wallet is secure for you ? What makes you think if they get hacked tomorrow they will have enough funds in their cold wallet to pay everyone back ?
I would tell what advantages one has over the another but I'm sure you're not interested.Get a desktop wallet.
1130  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Educate us on the ins and outs how sig campaigns work and their effectiveness on: April 09, 2018, 04:58:38 PM
I presume only retired campaign operators would share, but sig campaigns are everywhere yet we never really hear anything about their ins and outs. Since there are so many they obviously do work, but I wonder how well. For some of the bigger campaigns thousands of dollars per week are flying out the door.

Why don't you ask your former signature campaign organiser "ChipMixer" to know how it's working out for them? Since they have been running it for a long time, they'd have some valuable inputs I guess.

I'd be very curious to know how many clicks to their site happen per user and how many of those clicks translate into actual business. Have cost and effectiveness comparisons been made between adsense (RIP) and Bitcointalk?

I don't think they get good conversion rates through clicks. The get more exposure,in layman's terms ,it helps them spread  the word around.

1131  Other / Meta / Re: Bumping ICO announcement threads on: April 09, 2018, 04:54:14 PM
Alot of ICOs get bumped up by meaningless posts, usually by jr.member or below. I have never run a forum, but if it is possible couldnt Theymos change the code so posts from Jr member or below do not bump up the threads? Then they can post as normal but such accounts can be used for bumping purposes.
That is not possible. The best thing you can do as your part is - Report those accounts to the moderators. There are also a lot of Jr.Members who will be genuinely interested in contributing to the thread and it would be unfair for them.

Not sure if it will help, but i am getting so tired of all the meaningless non relevant one liners.. Maybe, just maybe this could help!
And it would not hurt the normal newcomers to the forum. The only ones who would feel the disadvantage is the scums selling the bumping service!
How would it not hurt the genuine Jr.members ? If you really are that much concerned, start reporting the accounts.
1132  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @digaran has gone too far on: April 08, 2018, 08:19:38 PM
1.This thread should be moved to - > Reputation since this isn't a forum related issue.
Since it's about a merit source, I'd say it's related to the forum, and fits the Meta board. But the title could be improved (suggestion: replace "User" by "Merit source").
I was actually thinking about it but couldn't exactly figure out where it should be.I mean usually all the DT member related queries (that is if a specific member is mentioned) are discussed in the Reputation board right ? I applied the same logic here.Title should be changed indeed.
1133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian RBI issue doesnt effect crypto world on: April 08, 2018, 08:13:27 PM
India is the very low contributor for crypto currency in terms of investment . You can check there is no major revolution happened in India using blockchain technology not even a single reputed crypto exchange. Even investment for crypto currencies is very less. More over apart from ponzy scheme not even a single valid blockchain preoject happened in India. Even market doesn’t effect till now because of Indian fud
Thanks for stating the obvious in way that is not so obvious.Someone needs to get their facts right.

1.Indian has number of local exchanges (most of them are useless piece of shit anyway) which are designed according to Indian market needs, that is people don't use PayPal/Neteller here so direct bank deposits are used instead. To name a few,the shit-list includes Zebpay,Coinsecure, etc.

2.Market doesn't get affected by any FUD's.
1134  Economy / Reputation / Re: ICO Bumping Service on: April 08, 2018, 08:06:52 PM
Maybe you should try reporting them in my thread (which is actively handled by mprep) : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2645450.msg26946665#msg26946665

From checking their posts on the surface level,I think they're paid shills for ICO bumping services. If you can't,I'll dig deeper and have them updated in my thread.
1135  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @digaran has gone too far on: April 08, 2018, 07:54:26 PM
1.This thread should be moved to - > Reputation since this isn't a forum related issue.

2.Do you see that "ignore" button ? Try it,does wonders.

3.I don't think you quite make a valid case for someone to be thrown out as a merit source.I mean maybe they have a slightly different opinions about your stuff but that doesn't mean they are incapable of judging one's post quality.I could be wrong though.

Also,

Quote
show me some respect I'm a merit source
^^ This is where you reply them with a big "Fuck You"
1136  Other / Meta / Re: Thanks for the Cake... I Guess on: April 08, 2018, 07:46:23 PM
Never in my life have I seen a piece of cake like that--looks like white cake with caramel "stripes".  Shit stains is more like it.  But hey, happy birthday OP and thanks for the heads up.  Enjoy your piece of digital poop cake with the trick candle on top that never goes out.
Did you just insult theymos creativity ? We know he isn't exactly that creative with graphics and stuff but hey a cake is a cake. Grin It would really make someone's day especially if they spend most of their time shit-posting on the forum with no social life.

I think my adopted DOB is June 6th, 1906.  It's what I use for rewards programs, where I'd prefer not to disclose my true age or real DOB.  I'll have to check to see if I actually entered anything on bitcointalk.
Must admit ,those reward programs have terrible date of birth validation system.

Not that this is a bad idea in general, but I suspect when you have a forum that's dealing with an anonymous type of money, where there are sure to be black market participants who want to hide their identity, plus the usual paranoid internet contingent, you're going to get people who don't want anyone to know their real date of birth.  So it seems kind of silly here.  Plus I'd much rather have chocolate or a piece of cheddar cheese.
Maybe you should open a thread in Meta about it.Believe me,you'll be have idiots fighting over it.
1137  Other / Meta / Re: if i trade merit with someone to support his noble cause whats wrong with it? on: April 05, 2018, 05:38:32 AM
i need to have an account in bitcoin talk for a humanist ico that is fighting poverty among small children in africa and the middle east. and if i dont have lots of merit i cant get enough attention. or will not be taken serious.
because otherwise he would have to waste massive time to constantly appease and happyfy the irrational forum community and cant develop the structures of his ico
I don't see a co-relation between feeding the hungry mouths and begging for merits on bitcointalk.Btw you just insulted me by calling us an "irrational forum community".
1138  Other / Meta / Re: [PROPOSAL] Disable Merit on Local Boards. on: April 04, 2018, 01:14:46 PM
This is a useless suggestion.Merits should be given regardless of the boards they're in if the posts are found useful by the members of those board.I agree farming merit becomes easier in local boards due to lack of moderation and obviously language. However, local board moderators should be willing to go an extra mile to somehow report such accounts and have them tagged.
1139  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MEGATRON - SCAM PROJECT + BUMPING on: April 04, 2018, 11:57:32 AM
Seriously no one is even remotely interested in stopping this?
No one will be interested in taking a step if you don't supply adequate proofs.Images are photoshopped ?Please post them here and show how they're edited.Ann bumping is done ? Report those accounts and their posts here.No one will take efforts on behalf of you.If you want your thread to be taken seriously, please update with relevant proofs.
1140  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ANN SCAM Projects on: April 03, 2018, 02:38:07 PM
Another one is, and I dont know if its posted here but CryptoNation. There whitepaper is scammy!
How can white paper be scammy ? Does it have a black background ? Roll Eyes
I'm curious now, mind linking me to their white paper ? Like stated above, you guys should come up solid proofs if you want any action taken by the community.
