I wonder, what else did this man know? It seems whistle blowers, witnesses, and dissidents have an exceptionally high rate of suicide.

Obviously you are a consiracy nut. Next you'll be claiming that it's not suicide when a guy shoots himself in the head three times.

Well, now. "Life is now officially unfair, isn't it?"
1803  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bernie Sanders is the Frontrunner for the Dems on: February 26, 2020, 05:10:24 PM
Some on the far left might argue the establishments hate for Bernie is so strong they would rather Trump than Bernie.

This is not the position of "the establishment", this is the position of the majority of Americans. There aren't many things more establishment than the communist policies Bernie is pushing. You like to cry that this designation is unfair, but the man honeymooned in the USSR, and literally just praised the communist revolution in Cuba AGAIN. I assure you that just lost him AT LEAST Florida, which has a massive Cuban refugee population. Characterizing him as a communist is quite fair.

Bernie had his chance in 2016, and being the jellyfish he is, he bent over and submitted to Killery and took the absolute corrupt ass fucking he got down on his knees without so much as a peep of an objection. People are going to remember that come November. Also most Americans realize the policies he is advocating for are insane, unattainable, and will bankrupt the nation. Short of Trump starting a nuclear war, nothing is going to stop him from getting another 4 years. You keep dreaming.

Plus it's about time the dozen channels of foreign money into the Bernie campaign are brought out into the open. There is a solid 50-80 years of documented evidence of Russia and to a lesser extent, China, trying to influence elections here.

Lying, knuckle dragging lowbrow morons of the left, reciting 19th century buzz words and phrases of the Ol'dialetic, never learn. Now voting praising salivating over total BS...

Already 2704 death, oh no we all going to die.
In all of South America no infection, also in Central America. In whole of Africa one single case.

There is one case in Brazil already, someone that came from Lombardy Italy, a 61 year old. The way things are going, not a single region of the world will escape. Except maybe North Korea, nobody is allowed in or out from there...

From certain areas, reported numbers of coronovirus can be considered totally unreliable. A lab test is required to separate this virus from the more common ones; if the lab test is not done, there can be no report of a coronovirus.

He praised a literacy program.  Are you anti-literacy?  Florida might just be.

That is the talking point you are going with? Hitler pulled Germany out of a massive depression, I guess he wasn't all bad.

He said a lot more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhpVAkBDg5o
At no point in that video did he praise violence other than the overthrow of an actual dictator.  He praised food programs, land programs, youth programs, mass transit and consistently showed disdain for authoritarian and totalitarian rule.

Its about nuance.  Every country has bad things.  The US has tortured and killed  millions.

Of course a totalitarian, authoritative strong-arm regime can show positives such as "making the trains run on time," "literacy programs," blah blah blah.

Duhhh.....

Donald J Trump believes that windmills cause ear cancer.

Believes, or says that he believes?
Certainly he says certain things that make him sound like an idiot, but I would argue that most of his pronouncements of this ilk are made not for the purpose of communicating information, but rather for eliciting a reaction. And undeniably he is good at eliciting a reaction.
I don't like the man, but he is dismissed too easily. He is extraordinarily effective at what he does.

That's very perceptive.

And re the thread "Post Mortem for the Democratic Party" I object.

That was some time ago, now we see the 2nd wave. Democrat zombies.

Does anyone deny that Sanders looks like a zombie creature?
1807  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Julian Assange: Extradition Hearing (from UK to US) begins in London on: February 25, 2020, 02:55:09 AM
What are you views regarding Julian Asssange being held in a UK prison while fighting extradition to the USA?

24th February 2020 (today) was the first day of the extradition hearing and the extradition hearing will be adjourned at the end of this week of legal argument and continue with three weeks of evidence scheduled to begin on 18th May 2020.

There is still so much legal debate left before a judgement can be made but the Assange legal team will exhaust every option in appeal after appeal because they are fairly sure he will receive a very long sentence in the USA.

Trump and Assange are both outsiders fighting the system.

Thank God I have a box of old porn mags from back when we used to use those!  I think I do anyway.  Haven't looked for some time.  IIRC, they pre-date the time when Hustler was showing full penetration.

1810  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China disinfecting banknotes to stop the spread coronavirus on: February 21, 2020, 10:56:40 PM
China needs to put on a bit of a song and dance to convince the rest of the world that they're doing enough to stop this problem. The rest of the world is already pretty pissed at China for allowing this to get to this point, as they kicked the can on telling the world cause they didn't want to stop their industry for a little while -- and because of that greed they've caused for this disease to spread outside of their country.

kick the can down the road?
sorry but china and the world knew there was a problem when there were only a few dozen cases..
america try to deny things when they have thousands of cases.

china have made several hospitals now and its only been a couple months
america take years to make a new hospital

..
what you actually find is that its the western countries that spread fear. its the west that done stupid things like demand westerners get on a plane and go to their home countries.

it was the west that dont have a clue about what is really happening in china. for instance the chinese new year festival they treated as a country shut down due to corona.

the western media try to potray it like all of china will die and then the world.

the reality is that people under 50 years old. even if they have symptoms of having corona.. less than 1% of those will die from it.
as for people like 80+ years old. only 14% of those who get corona die from it.

if you do the maths. its not some massive apocalypse the western media make it out to be.
but china have actually done more than america would do in the same situation

might be worth people actually checking out the stats and real information FROM SOURCE and not western media STORIES
The Spanish Flu of 1918 hit about 500 million people, and 20-50 million died from it.
1811  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: February 21, 2020, 10:51:07 PM
I believe that Global warming does exist also it has irrefutable proof. WRT to the fact that some people believe otherwise even so, there are Flat-Earthers too.

On a very serious note, we need to explore Sustainable energy resources.
For me it is not about for the development of the industrial country, it happens because of the greenhouse effect caused by increasing of carbon dioxide that we inhale as human, and also because of the pollutant made by the human. So I can say that global warming is not a natural phenomenon because it happens because of the action of the human, they are the cause of increasing of pollutant in this world....

Pollutants, correctly defined, have a cooling effect on climate.

"Greenhouse gases" are not "pollutants". Pollutants are things like smoke, factory output, etc.

Quote
Amazon is one of the world's biggest polluters and has absolutely zero interest in preventing climate change, beyond maintaining a facade of ethical concern and accountability purely for PR purposes..
Even if it’s true, why shouldn’t it help in the fight against climate change? From this act it follows that he at least understands what his company is doing and is trying to at least somehow make amends.
In your opinion, in such a situation, you have to sit out your ass and do nothing?

Not at all. It's good that he's putting $10b into fighting climate change, I'm just saying he shouldn't be grandstanding about it or positioning himself as a valiant eco-warrior, he should instead be addressing how his company contributes to the problem that he personally is purporting to want to solve.

The best way an arsonist can prevent fires is not to put some out, it's to stop setting them in the first place.
The best way for a burglar to reduce theft is not to return some of the stolen goods, but not to steal them originally.

But you have all that completely wrong, in my opinion. I don't see that "his company contributes to the problem." No more than any other company or operation. In fact this entire thing you have presented looks like a false narrative, and I do not believe you can support it with clear and convincing facts.

For example, can you show that in any particular product line, Amazon's market share is somehow eco-worse than in the previous decade when that market share was served by others?

Also, on what wacko planet did you get this?

Amazon is happy to sell AWS to the oil and gas industries:
"The energy industry should have access to the same technologies as other industries. We will continue to provide cloud services to companies in the energy industry" It continues: "to make their legacy businesses less carbon intensive and help them accelerate development of renewable energy businesses", but there are no numbers here, it's just vague ethical hand waving.

There is nothing wrong with doing business with energy companies. Unless you never use a gas stove, never turn on lights and heat from a coal power plant, and never pay for gasoline at a service station, who are you to say this?
1813  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Post Mortem for Democratic Party on: February 21, 2020, 02:02:31 PM
arguably mentally challenged people shouldn’t be running the Government.

As of 2019, Donald J Trump believes that windmills cause ear cancer.

"If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer. You tell me that one."
 ...

Does not look like the quote from Trump supports your assertion, does it?
1814  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jeff Bezos saves the World !!! on: February 21, 2020, 01:55:39 PM
Everyone will have seen the announcement by the world's richest man that he is donating $10b to fight climate change.

Whilst it's a welcome gesture, it does smell very strongly of virtue signalling. And why does it have to have his name plastered all over it? The "Bezos Earth Fund". This presumably is what he thinks is the most acceptable wording of "Superman Jeff Bezos saves the World".

Perhaps he should just pay taxes instead. Perhaps he should look at how Amazon is contributing to climate change, rather than attempting to dissociate himself from his own business and rise from it like some (renewables-powered) phoenix from the (coal-fired) flames.

Amazon is one of the world's biggest polluters and has absolutely zero interest in preventing climate change, beyond maintaining a facade of ethical concern and accountability purely for PR purposes..

Okay, here are some facts and links:

More than 350 Amazon employees have spoken out about the company's disregard of and contribution to climate change, and its attempts to silence those employees. Comments are here and well worth a read.

Amazon threatens to fire employees who speak about the climate crisis.

Amazon funds climate-denying think tanks, such as the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

Amazon donates to politicians who are climate-change deniers. This includes "68 legislators who have denied climate change — including those who have voted against environmental legislation 100% of the time" (from poynter.org).

Amazon is happy to sell AWS to the oil and gas industries:
"The energy industry should have access to the same technologies as other industries. We will continue to provide cloud services to companies in the energy industry" It continues: "to make their legacy businesses less carbon intensive and help them accelerate development of renewable energy businesses", but there are no numbers here, it's just vague ethical hand waving.
https://www.aboutamazon.com/our-company/our-positions

Amazon was scored at an "F" by the Carbon Disclosure Project, and was "the largest U.S. publicly traded company not to participate"

... although they did admit in 2018 that their carbon footprint is 44 million tonnes, which is roughly 85% of the emissions of Switzerland.

Well, that's nothing but batshit crazy ravings straight from the lunatic climate asylum. I'm not seeing in your links and assertions anything at all to criticize Amazon about. Zero.

1816  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: February 20, 2020, 05:25:02 PM
Phrasing such as "influences..." ..."feed the pattern but not the pattern..." are not scientific. I assume the "pattern itself" is what, a world temperature? What is that?
Of course they're not scientific, this is not a symposium and using jargon is not important. What matters is expressing one's point, and I'll restate mine in case it wasn't clear:
Global warming is the long-term trend of increase in average global temperatures;
Global cooling is the long-term trend of decrease in average global temperatures.
How about this(wikipedia). Climate = "The classical period is 30 years, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). These quantities are most often surface variables such as temperature, precipitation, and wind. "
Global warming = an increase in average global temperatures for one or more successive 30 year periods, global cooling = a decrease.

Since the Earth is in an open system, there's no thermodynamic equilibrium.

But in the absence of thermo equilibrium, how can you ascribe or impute a flatline secular temperature on which to make a claim that "warming" or "cooling"? Seems to me you would have to use long term climate averaging, then ascribe a shorter term averaging and look at the difference in variances between periods of time. This implies if not accurate, at least reasonable believable calculations of "world temperature." Both current, recent historical, and that of past millennia or longer.

A world temperature? What is that?

Very strange how Julian Assange, the most important witness in the sham impeachment trial, and the prior sham Russia investigation, was never called.

https://apnews.com/3934adc00f38667b267345b8628e4f12

LONDON (AP) — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange plans to claim during an extradition hearing that the Trump administration offered him a pardon if he agreed to say Russia was not involved in leaking Democratic National Committee emails during the 2016 U.S. election campaign, a lawyer for Assange said Wednesday.

Assange is being held at a British prison while fighting extradition to the United States on spying charges. His full court hearing is due to begin next week.

At a preliminary hearing held in London, lawyer Edward Fitzgerald said now-former Republican congressman, Dana Rohrabacher, visited Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in August 2017.

Fitzgerald said a statement from another Assange lawyer, Jennifer Robinson, recounted “Mr. Rohrabacher going to see Mr. Assange and saying, on instructions from the president, he was offering a pardon or some other way out, if Mr. Assange ... said Russia had nothing to do with the DNC leaks.”

Responding to the the lawyer’s claims, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said, “This is absolutely and completely false.”

President Donald Trump “barely knows Dana Rohrabacher other than he’s an ex-congressman. He’s never spoken to him on this subject or almost any subject,” Grisham said. “It is a complete fabrication and a total lie. This is probably another never-ending hoax and total lie from the DNC.”

Emails embarrassing for the Democrats and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign were hacked before being published by WikiLeaks in 2016.

In a statement linked on his Twitter account, Rohrabacher said he never spoke with Trump about Assange and was not directed by the president or anyone else connected with him to meet with Assange.

Recounting his meeting with the WikiLeaks founder, Rohrabacher said he told him “that if he could provide me information and evidence about who actually gave him the DNC emails, I would then call on President Trump to pardon him. At no time did I offer a deal made by the President, nor did I say I was representing the President.”

He said he met briefly on his return with then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and told him that Assange would provide information about the purloined DNC emails in exchange for a pardon. Rohrabacher said no one followed up with him “and that was the last discussion I had on this subject with anyone representing Trump or in his administration.”

District Judge Vanessa Baraitser said the evidence was admissible in the extradition case.

Assange appeared at London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court by video link from Belmarsh prison, where he is being held as he awaits his extradition hearing.

U.S. prosecutors have charged the 48-year-old Australian computer hacker with espionage over WikiLeaks’ hacking of hundreds of thousands of confidential government documents. If found guilty, he faces up to 175 years in jail.

He argues he was acting as a journalist entitled to First Amendment protection.

Many issues of instability and irrationality seem to lead back to him. Certainly the "No Borders" issue, that plagued Europe, and which was / is being attempted at the US Southern border.
