Well as the above poster said, not looking good BUT I suggest download the nicehash miner on nicehash, and then run the benchmark, see what your hashrate is for 3 different cpu algos, and then find a coin to mine. maybe hold would be good, idk

Yeah Thailand, around 2011, flooding sorely jacked up hard drive prices. I was working in a computer repair shop at the time, and kept having to explain to customers why stuff cost too much.
Good times for me I had 2 cases (48) of wd black 2tb hdds purchased on an outstanding deal they arrived the day before the flood. prices went up 2 to 3 times normal. I was able to sell them lower then anyone on ebay and still make really good money on them. I would have to think I made 3000 more then I thought I was going to make on those hdds. And everyone loved me on ebay as my price was way lower then anyone else. They were a good item to sell since I recorded serial numbers. I think I had 1 return in 40 sales. Damn.. I remember those times, and drives costed SO. FCKN.MUCH! I sold my 1TB HDD because I had to take advantage of the prices, and after the craze ended I bought a 2TB HDD with some of the extra. Good times... wasnt a ponzi but doubled my hdd size xD Here's a fun little story about 2011 and hdd prices if you're interested: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/backblaze_drive_farming/It's pretty funny how these guys got banned from buying hdds at costco and best buy Damnnn thats a cool story, thanks for sharing

VERY LIGHT shake heatsinks should be fine on later batches. Im guessing dust, and most important please set your fan speed on MANUAL. Good luck !

i still have a coupon if anyone wants it. I accept almost any amount.

Good luck everyone !!! Just wanted to say how good it feels that the diff is slowing a bit

I have 1 coupon. at about 500$ i'm not sure if I want to buy one s7 again. At least its a pretty good price. Anyway, make me an offer, only one coupon first come first served I guess. cheap cheap must go lol

Goodbye all, I have sold my only s7 today. It was an honor to hash on Kano pool, even though I guess i'm a leacher since I never made it to the acclaim board (lol). I sold it because summer is coming, and a 1300w hairdryer in my garage would make it way too hot. So i think i'm gonna buy a couple GPU's and go do that again my 5870's still make small (but profit after electricity) amounts. and they are old 1gb cards. May your luck be high and the blocks ever coming, ด็้็้็้็้็้༼◉Д◉༽ด็้็้็้็้็้

Please dont do it. Even at low fan speeds you will hear it when you sleep. It wont be extremely loud, but its not good for sleeping. And your room will be very hot. its a 1300w hair dryer man. im sorry.

Wow I've been away for a little while, and come back and check the forum....Damn all this Drama. Seems Kano needs to go all out CSI on these rogue miners. Although statistically he could ban me because my lone s7 has never found a block LOL

I hope y'all manage to get things fixed with Coinbase. I'm still dealing with them on missing BTC from last July. In my case the amount of the transaction shows up as received in the wallet, but my balance is short by the amount of the transaction (the wallet balance does not add up to the sum of the listed transactions). Interestingly, if I run one of their reports (either the transaction or the tax one) my balance shows correctly, but in the Coinbase wallet UI the balance is short by the July transaction amount. I haven't made any progress on getting it resolved (I just keep getting the problem acknowledged and then passed on to someone else who never responds to it). The problem is escalated up to the non-existent 13th floor I guess.
Between that and the potential tax problems (exactly how I'm supposed to exclude moving between my own non-Coinbase wallet to Coinbase from being counted as "income" on their 1099 that I risk getting if I do more than 200 transactions--- that would be a mess), I've stopped mining to Coinbase completely (I mine to my own wallet now) and only use them to buy/sell coins. It's too bad, since mining to Coinbase was an easy workaround to the input consolidation problem (too many small rewards = higher fees when spending coins). I would rather deal with extra transaction fees than lose more to Coinbase. I do look forward to Kano getting the daily payout working to reduce the number of inputs in my transactions.
meh I just have Kano pool pay to the exchange where I trade, then when it hits 0.2btc I withdraw to my real storage. Solves that problem

A flat diff for the next few months would make me a happy camper. This s7 ain't going to pay itself you know...paid 4.7 btc with shipping, it has returned a little more than half (i havent calculated it exactly), its on kano pool so thats good. To get the other 1/3 to 1/2 in btc....its going to be tough (or long). unless btc increases in price, a flat diff is the best thing to happen for s7 resell value. also would help if bitmain stopped selling freakin batches
|
|
|
the s-7 dropped in price a little 720 down to 716
wow 4$ less lol. Bitmain has a weird pricing mechanism...fixed us, fixed btc, a little of both. If diff drops, will they raise the price ? I think they set the price to be = to the maximum people are willing to pay. its a gamble for sure.

really you guys think they are all mining eth now ? I'm thinking all the gear similar to an s3 are all shut down now. they did make a shitload of those.
|
|
|
so...contest starts tomorrow for the avalon w00t w00t - are the rules changed ? best share block for the month or something ? You know it would be so much simpler if you just gave it to me

I have about 10 bad boards from batch 7 that need to be fixed. They just stopped working. I emailed Sherry and info@bitmaintech.com many times with no replies. Did they change their way of communicating for warranty or something? It's been a week now. They still can not find my 2 x S5+ blades with warranty. Delivered On: Saturday, 16/01/2016 at 10:17 Last reply from Sherry was 28.02.16 I also have 3 bad S7 bords , with is out of warranty. However, they do not make sense to send them. I heard you can send them to Denver usa if that is better, return times might be really fast. search this thread, im to lazy to do it.

Dont forget to set your fan on manual setting. dont put 100%. I run mine at 30%, its relatively quiet and temps are 59-64c. It is winter outside, so that helps a lot (its my garage heater lol). dont run above 70 to be safe, but some do.

yeah but look at what sidehack is doing.. he is selling a usb miner. that is 8ghs and costs 25$ this is around 3$ a ghs.
putting that in perspective that would make a s7 cost like 14,687$ (i do suck at math so maybe not)
so if bitmain made a 100$ miner that did like 100W and 300 ghs i think it would sell pretty good.
they seem to be selling a lot of those R1s for 50$ and it only does 5ghs.
Why would people buy this over new S7 or used S1. New S7 is more efficient and used S1 is cheaper. he has sold 1000s of them.. i even got 5 myself. they are only 1w or so, so the efficiency is far above a s7.. it just goes to show how far bitmain missed the market. if they made a u4, with s7 chips, and sold them for 60-80$ i am pretty much 100% positive they will sell out in the pre-order. yeah there is big demand for sub 100$-150$ miners...too bad the u3 did not live up to expectations...and you had to order 10 or something
