1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Qtum]UTXO based POS Smart Contract Platform | Crowdsale March 2017 on: February 02, 2017, 02:41:44 PM
Yeah I really hope the crowdsale is available through Bittrex or maybe poloniex.  As long as its done in a transparent way and safe way for buyers.  If the project has a lot of hype, it shouldnt be a problem and you wont need to bribe the exchanges Smiley
1342  Economy / Economics / Re: What Will it Take For BTC to Reach $1000? on: February 02, 2017, 02:34:55 PM
Looks like we are going to hit 1000$ again Smiley  This time we may stay above that for a while.  I don't see why not.  Expectation of price increase means people will hodl and the usual buying will slowly increase prices as it will be larger than the selling pressure over a long period.  I could be wrong, but I dont see bitcoin going anywhere but up in the long run.  Of course, its -30% here, +30% there...
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 02, 2017, 01:53:06 PM
ZEC and PASC mining is done, no dreaming again ZEC early adopter like BTC did,
just go get full time job guys, and ETH couple next month will switch to POS, ton of millions GPU out there will resell again
noobs miner who lot invest because ZEC show, will got learn  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin dream become rich from thin air - will vanish soon, old gpu will back to the grave again, oh noobs, see you soon at GPU market
true miner will be miner forever, noobs will out soon, it will be back like 2015 again

good. In fact with all the hash improvements on ZEC the network hashrate has been stable and that tells me many people have already turned their GPUs off. Waiting for those GPUs on craigslist :-)

Yup.  Although I did buy one 280x recently (had an open slot on a rig with 390s/380s).  I calculate after all costs and taxes, my electric is about 25 to 30% of revenue.  So ROI is about 110 days at current projections.  Still not too bad, but not viable for the future.  I just had a slot to fill and didnt have money to buy a fury Sad
1344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 02, 2017, 02:47:48 AM
Anyone using the MSI Armer 4GB 470s and would like to share their results? That would be greatly appreciated.
I literally just posted about that model Smiley  look back a page or something lol
1345  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: China and Mining on: February 02, 2017, 12:12:35 AM
Also because China has big capital controls, so people can't easily send their money elsewhere.  Even if you are a billionaire in China, one day police can come by and make you disappear.  see here:
https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2017/02/01/chinese-canadian-billionaire-disappears-from-hong-kong.html

I think Chinese people invested massively in bitcoin for such reasons.  Buying bitcoin outright is not really feasible for large purchases.  So you make/buy huge amounts of hash power, which gains bitcoin.  You then cash out that bitcoin elsewhere, like in Canada, and then buy real estate or other assets (see vancouver housing prices...) with that money to safeguard it.  That,s my theory.  With Bitcoin you can evade all capital controls.  So if I'm worth 1 billion, and want to send some money in a safe country, then why not buy a couple million dollars worth of mining rigs, mine bitcoin, then cash out the bitcoin in another country.
1346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [POOL] - Coinotron --- ZEC = 3% PPS, 2% RBPPS, 1% PPLNS on: February 01, 2017, 02:14:43 AM
Hey coinotron, quick question for you.  Im having trouble connecting on the SSL ZCash side.  usually it hashes no problem, but once in a while the connection just doesnt happen and claymore switches over to the failover pool.  Is it just me ?
1347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 01, 2017, 01:36:36 AM
I haven't tested as much, and only with a different brand.  I dont have an armor 480 Sad  But from What I see, instead of 28mhs, you get 30mhs.  Instead of 110w you get 130w.  So 10% more hash, 20% more power used.  I could be wrong, this is from memory. I can't really explain it either.  I think the 480 draws a lot more power for the memory side.  Maybe someone who has info on this can chip in Smiley
1348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really The Future Of Money? on: February 01, 2017, 01:27:38 AM
If the adoption system is probably yes, I think the system is bitcoin system of financial transactions is the best ever, so I think the State should immediately using bitcoin.

Hardly,

1.  They have no solution to the 51% attack security attack, (China is at ~68% now)    Tongue

2.  They have no Onchain solutions to their limited ability to process transactions.   Tongue

3.  They have no solution to keeping an accurate Block Speed.   Tongue
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1762690.msg17668683#msg17668683

 Cool

FYI: The Solutions are as follows for 2 & 3 but BTC Core is too corrupt to implement.

2.   Larger BlockSize or Faster Blockspeed
3.   Change difficulty adjustment from 2 weeks to every block.

I totally agree.  I would like to see a much faster blockspeed.  Diff adjustment change to something better.  Faster blockspeed = more orphans I suppose - but thats a good thing.  See it would make more sense to solo mine, and it would reward low latency and good internet connections.  So hopefully people will move out of China.  its not healthy to have 2/3 or something of the hashrate in one country.  If its offline, then unless diff readjust bitcoin is dead lol.
1349  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Electric setup, would like opinions on: February 01, 2017, 01:24:05 AM
Yeah all my stuff is 80% max of load on the breakers.  Main breaker is 100 amps.  Stuff in house, maybe I reserve 50-60 amps for the whole house.  But the stuff isnt on always at the same time.  Worst case I won't use the dryer with the electric stove Smiley  Right now I have about 2x15amp and 1x20amp full with rigs, but on 120v.  Plus like 4 gpus spread out on two circuits (with tv and with computer room).  So i'm "maxed out" in the sense that i'm using 80% of 50 amps for mining on 120v, so roughly 4.5kw or something.  I was thinking of taking all that out, and swapping it with 240v.  I said 60 amps because I didnt see any 50 amps for sale, but i found one.  So since 240v takes 2 spaces, I would put a 50amp, then a 20amp and 30amp breaker in a separate box.  So unless I really dont get it, if I can put 4.8kw/50amp on 120v, for the same amperage I can put 9.6kw no?

When you say server grade, you mean 3 phase power ?  hmmm well I should consider that If I change the panel to 200amps or more.  But that gets $$$ costly.
1350  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tens Of Thousands Of Brits Take To The Streets To Protest Trump’s Travel Ban on: February 01, 2017, 01:07:54 AM
I dont really get the protests to be honest.  Other than a lot of people are really salty that they lost.  The faces on CNN the night of the election...oh man....you should of seen their faces.  it was EPIC.  I'm not even american.  I feel all the people pushing diversity/immigration/etc are wrong - not that their opinions are wrong - but the fact that they try to push society towards what they want by "force" is wrong.  its anti-democratic.  These people have been protesting since trump got elected.  What happened to respecting the results and insuring a peaceful transition of power ?  Even the media is salty AF.  For example, all the people in the state department that "resigned".  They didnt resign, they were probably fired.  It doesnt even matter - Every new government in place changes everyone around.  Its always like that.  Like how is that a scandal.  I saw on CNN . com a big headline the other day - "the resistance is growing".  what resistance ?  The resistance to the democratic results of the election ?  These people are mental.  I hope Trump cleans up the media conglomerates in the USA, its like 4-5 companies own every single newspaper, website, radio station, etc.  I'll just end by saying this.  I dont particularly like trump.  I'm not a republican either.  I dont think everyone should be allowed to own guns without restrictions.  But you know what ?  I think Trump is shaking up the whole corrupt and mis-managed establishment of the USA, and good for him.  A true victory for democracy.  Now i might read this in 10 years when its full on dictatorship, trump's at his 3rd term and we are in ww3, but hey for now im happy to see sore losers cry.
1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire RX 470 cards modifications. What is the difference on: February 01, 2017, 12:47:49 AM
We cant see your images Sad  Well your nitro has either samsung, elpida or hynix memory.  Didnt see any micron ones.  anyways, its really easy to modify timings with Polaris Bios Editor and atiwinflash.  For elpida memory its a bit different, but there are roms out there that are already done.  Dont forget to backup the original Smiley  Go to my website, there are links to various roms that you can use.  http://www.cryptominingtalk.com/flashing-bios/   May I add after you change your timings, set the memory to 2000 for example, and reboot your rig.  then you should see a hashrate difference.  Seems like there are a lot of people that want custom roms, even though its pretty easy to do it yourself.  I could do it for you, but i'd have to charge you lol

Best watt to hash ?  Well compare with a rx470.  For example, as read from my APC backup, msi armor 4g rx470, mining ETH (zec is about 10% less watts), I get 28.1mhs with 110watts.  So thats a ratio of 3.9w/mhs or .255mhs per watt.  You could bring the power down by a few more watts if you were really inclined to do so.  I think thats pretty hard to beat Smiley  I think nano can be even better but also consider the buying cost.  Anyways, i'm hyped for the next zcash version update Smiley
Are you 470's 4GB or 8GB?
4gb model, cheapest one, the armor series 470.  Good card.

well you can check out this thread right here :  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1424132.0   But they can get pretty power efficient, I dont have one myself, but I think its on par with or just a little higher than the efficiency ratio of a rx470, which are really good for efficiency.  If you are looking for watts to hash, then for the price you can buy the GPU, I'd say go with the new generation.

guys guys guys, moderator does a good job.  If he doesnt want to pay you, then there is nothing you can do.  Its a signature campaign.  People are getting paid.  Not technically a scam accusation.  Just let it go.  Anyways, I'd like to keep going for the next round:

Well...I would choose the Nano honestly, for the low power usage and there are very nice mods publicly available for it.  Fury is nice too, but if you can choose a fury x...which is the same thing basically but more CU's.  Keep in mind a nano is really small form factor compared to a fury, so its much more convenient too.  Pretty sure nano has higher resale value too.
1358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v11.1 (Windows/Linux) on: January 31, 2017, 01:58:37 PM
I can recommend coinotron for Zcash, even though hashrate is smaller.  PPLNS is decent, and they have PPS at 3%.  worker notifications, etc.  I've never really had connection problems there (like dwarf, or sometimes coinmine).  Plus its not flypool, so there's that Smiley

@fr4nkthetank - I'm curious what's your problem/issue with flypool?

Oh it was just a joke Smiley  Flypool is fine, really.  Some time back I compared coinmine/flypool/coinotron/dwarf and found better results at coinmine and coinotron, but then coinmine had connectivity problems.  For a week or two they had really bad luck some time back, but that happens to every pool.

Just a quick opinion on this whole thing...You guys have a great signature campaign.  Good communication, good team, etc, etc.  Now I haven't checked in with the slack but it would help with creating chatter for you guys if you posted on twitter lets say once a week a recap of the work that has been done in that timeframe, and upcoming work to be done the next week.  Just a thought.
