O.K. Bitcoin Hoard/Prices...if we are going to continue dating..there have to rules on how you are going to f*ck me over...I mean a little romance, some dinner, some flowers, some dancing...

I mean was it ALL just the money?

Where are  the heady days of excitement and unlimited possibilities and "THE lOVE?" You are acting like we have NO FUTURE together anymore! (Sob!)

I am feeling 'quite used' and 'not appreciated'...you better step up your 'game' or I'm outta here!

sheesh

I think this should be promoted more

https://www.clearcenter.com/blogs/timeline/clearcenter-and-sia-partner-to-create-clearshare-blockchain-based-storage-platform

Soon ClearSHARE (I hope) will be out and there will be possibility

for around 500 000 servers running ClearOS to share their disks

on SIA network...I mean, thats a huge number

These snappy boxes can already be preordered, too (former minebox, and got 2 bigger brothers)

all the above is 'pre-order' boxes..don't exist yet..at least according to a rep in that chat page

at these BTC prices I wonder if the boxes will even get built now...(I wonder about a lot of coin and projects in that manner now..not just sia-tech related)

bummer

bitcoin was such an amazing idea, so much potential...

it's failure is seriously bumming me out

the idea won't die. the OPEN SOURCE version, however, may..if BTC chokes..when banks co-opt blockchain with no other option..they will likely save 75% to 90% in costs for

moving $$$ about. In that they get 2% here there or whatever when anything is moved...and it would be automatic with the bank and big money control of their

centralized ..probably patented blockchain equivalent token....well...can you say MULTI Trillionaires ..if say in 10 years they can get rid of 50% of the costs of running

a bank and charge 2% a transaction for essentially automatic and free movement around the world?

sh*t...I would expect the 'dark ages' to start soon thereafter with that much power in the top 1%.

but yeah, if there is no open source alternative to a centralized bank controlled blockchain ...we are pretty much f*cked

(looking like the backup retirement plan of being a 'minimalist' is in play now..if BTC tanks to 1k or some such..alas...one extreme or the other..it is how I roll) Sad

Folk probably know this anyway...but my 'floor' is what I mined on my original KNC Jupiter BTC miner from back in the day that cost me $5,131.80 with shipping.

ALL my HODL and whatever for the last 5 years came from that initial investment. (Sure did not make it from my job with a group home for dev blind developmentally disabled).

Thus (should probably NOT say the amount..people get miffed).....that is my FLOOR.

the HEAT DEATH of the UNIVERSE will happen 1st before I sell those coin. (Ya got to draw the line someplace)

and I have gotten enough out of this to retire 3 years early with cash set aside etc till the middle of 2019 when I can take retirement traditional $$$ if nothing else.

and of course the last 5 years have been more fun since I was in college helps, that helps quite a bit Smiley

But, chump or champ. Make some 'borders' on how you are gonna face this ..if it all goes to sh*t for a few... years...

(talking to my CPA today, I did set enough aside for sales and mining but gonna get my ass chewed anyway) Sad

1) ass-covering, check.

2) set amount of crypto they will have to pry from my cold dead hands, check.

3) still can stay retired 2-3 years early. check

4) preparing for a coming recession. in progress.

Sia is a great project with a company behind it, institutional money will come in at some point in the future if they can act together

I'd say you were a great comedian, but you probably believe your own statement.  Brad: you will appreciate this -- it is coming up on the one-month-away from when I paid Obelisk for my SIA miner.  What do they send me in my email inbox?  An offer to buy an upgrade board for my miner, which has yet to ship.  Or, they will buy back my as yet unshipped miner for $300.  Swell, I'd love to light several hundred dollar bills on fire, what a great idea.

Because nothing screams we are really focused on getting the product you paid for out the door like announcing new products for the item that I already paid for and which STILL hans't shipped.  Clue #2 is the stale 'if you need support, come join Discord, yeah!'

Clue #3 is that it would be trivial to put a spreadsheet grid up on the Obelisk site that let anyone see which orders (by order number and order date) had shipped, and which had not.  I don't see anything like that.  I write to "support" and I am directed towards vague postings, vague promises about the end of November, and such.

Here is what I think based on the evidence to date:  they don't have their act together, it would take someone with the brains of Netflix to offer to buy them out.  Amazon is not Netflix.

Edit:  Another way to view this announcement is beta board v1 sucks. Doesn't make sense to make more of them.  So let's give the suckers who paid almost a year ago these choices:  pay MORE money for a decent board, the v2 board, or if you have really lost all patience, we will refund you $300, because we can take those unshipped units and give them to the hold-outs who want a miner but feel insulted that we want them to pay all over again for the v2 board.

yeah....lots of $450 coupons about thou...(I did not get any just saying) and you take off in the USA another 25% on equipment deduction off taxes you owe this year for the purchase...then add say your compensation for your previous obelisk (mine was $603.85 I think it was for 5 obelisks) ...well...I can see why their site (was) locked up yesterday and would not allow me to put in my BTC address..(hey, they probably have to generate some $$$ to pay the compensation by selling the boards..sorry couldn't resist)

anyway, the whole crypto universe is upside down..my non-forked obelisk from 2 months ago doorstops now make bucks....fake satoshi has crashed the btc price and such and likely

has taken over BCH as an altcoin...bitmain is going down with about $1 Billion in debt ... the SEC will likely NOT touch BTC ETF with a 10' pole for years

etc, etc.

Sheesh. From that perspective mining Siacoin and holding it looks downright sane! (not that I'm sure I should HODL anymore)

Just waiting now for Craig Wright proving he is Satoshi with private keys (hey, going with the craziest ideas lately) that would dump BTC to 1k fast indeed..everyone hates his ass.

Talking to my CPA today. My taxes set aside is fine. Although I can see the lecture coming Sad However, I think we are going to get a recession so I can payback with my lecture

next year...hopefully....if crypto comes back and stablizes..and IF siacoin actually gets some traction on their 'network cloud storage' ....who knows...chump or champ we will

likely know by end of 2019

---------------------- this is now in the wind on how to get boards...in Jan/feb 2019 (no less) ..... FYI ---------------------

Obelisk Upgrade Board Sale Details
Dear Obelisk Customers,

We are excited to announce that we will be launching a new sale later today, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in the late afternoon (Eastern Time). Below are the four items we will be offering:

1. Obelisk SC1 Hashing Board, Gen 1: $699
Purchase a Siacoin Gen 1 hashing board, compatible with Batch 1 DCR1 or SC1 units. Incompatible with units from Batch 2-5. Estimated ship date: February-March 2019.

2. Obelisk SC1 Hashing Board, Gen 2: $1499
Purchase a Siacoin Gen 2 hashing board, compatible with Batch 2-5 DCR1 or SC1 units. Incompatible with units from Batch 1. Estimated ship date: February-March 2019.

3. Obelisk DCR1-to-SC1 Paid Conversion: $1199
Convert a Batch 2-5 DCR1 for a Batch 6 SC1. Estimated ship date: February-March 2019.

4. Obelisk DCR1 Buyback: +$300
Obelisk will buy back your Batch 2-5 DCR1 unit for $300. You will still be entitled to receive compensation for missing the estimated shipping date, which is currently worth approximately $125.

Purchasing
You will be able to apply existing coupons to your orders, and we will also be crediting your accounts with the compensation for missing estimated delivery dates. All purchases must be made in Bitcoin. Please ensure you have Bitcoin available to spend, as unpaid orders will canceled after 8 hours.

Compatibility
SC1 boards are compatible with DCR1 or SC1 miners, but you cannot run both DCR1 and SC1 boards simultaneously. If you decide to place SC1 boards in a DCR1 chassis, you must run a firmware update. If desired, you can operate a unit with only one hashing board installed.

Logistics
The sale will take place through the Obelisk Customer Portal. For the first 24 hours, we will restrict the sale to existing Obelisk customers (those who purchased a unit in Batches 1-5 directly from Obelisk). After 24 hours, we will open the sale to the public, and anyone will be able to register for a new account on the portal and make purchases.

More Details
We will send an announcement later today when the sale opens that provides more details and links to a full FAQs document.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions. In addition to emailing, you can always reference our support center or join us on Discord.

Best,

– Team Obelisk

----------------------------------

I wonder if they really will take my (1) $450 coupon for 1 board and (4) 250 coupon for remaining boards? I swap'd my 1/2 off coupons for a dcr1 miner which does not seem prudent right now...

I am kinda 'meh' on ordering (even with coupons) much more than (1) board (hey, its a $450 coupon) ...what do you guys think...the Jan/feb 2019 ship date is clumbersome with the current crypto price dump

For me personally Sia is one of the few projects that really benefits from the usage of blockchain technology instead of just exploiting it as an easy way to collect money.

IF...they truly get the decentralized blockchain cloud storage network up to compete as they say against Amazon Cloud at 10c to the $1 and anonymous as they claim...

Does not pay to get the equipment for such cloud storage, yet, no hype, not enough movement ..zippo...

without that getting up to speed...siacoin is worth zip

Where is the promotion? Where is a roadmap that makes sense and is moving along?

again zip

30$ this is not low imho

15-30$ good price )

then i will wait when price ltc 10-15$ Grin

Next year will be the lowest price for LTC, I'm also sure that it will drop to $10 and that is a short opportunity to buy later.

IF it goes to $10 or some such I MAY FOMO back into LTC...as of now ...don't own a one....

(I've got LISK which needs to be $1.91 for me to break even and of course FUJICOIN...yep FJC will save me...and of course BTC Hoard...that is the works)

It is still possible to make little profit with this machines.

I am currently mining brixcoin on miningpassion.com and I get around 30 coins with 15gh. 1coin=0.2 - you can do the math urself.
For people who already gave up searching profitable coins, I know that feeling..

theres no exchange for this shitcoin?!

yeah....x11 are mining 'air' may as well have fun with it Smiley

good lord

are we actually catching some support here?

Thank you...Thank you...selling at $3,694.20 saved all of you and I started the pump up. It is like I have a superpower skill that works backwards.

but it is good to know that my panic'ing and selling 13 BTC like a 9-year-old girl child (including screaming) was a big help to the BTC ecosystem.

I shall now do other good deeds like tossing myself in front of trucks so people can test their safe driving skills ...

name any companies with free electricity ? I can't think of one

Those that scammed and are out of business essentially pay for electricity while we are not.

We are still mining as if right now and we would be more than happy to show you our on-going mines.

again , those that went bankrupt or ran out of business can't afford to pay for the electricity with difficulty going up.

Ice rock mining is paying 3 cent per kilo watts but still struggling paying out the investors. Why ? they are still paying for electricity.

We are not.

so how does this work? I send you my defunct equipment that does not pay in the USA (no great loss) Smiley

sorry...but you could be honest as hell, but with long odds etc on bitcointalk..I'd have a hard time with this even if I knew you and you had legendary

status on bitcointalk.

IF your setup is legit you should have very little trouble locally scaling up to the size you want bit by bit without a big splash of overseas investment Smiley

Hahaha

Ok.  I think it’s going down.  I just don’t know if we will have a huge short squeeze first.

My liquidation is over $8k. I think I’m safe.

Sometimes it feels like the grinding of the BTC price upwards travels so damn slowly to gain lost ground and to get some upwards momentum, even though the downward losses had really been flying by.

Probably my imagination, at least partially?

"Bitcoin Price goes down like an office elevator...zip...and always takes the stairs going back up...slough..."

One way or the other, I think we are going to have an explosive move soon.

Edit:  within 6 hours.

The next 6 hours are critical.  TM  you heard it here, first, and the soonest. tm

Hairy's predictions have been pretty good lately. Cheesy

Better be UP; otherwise, BTC HODLers from this thread may have to put Hairy bairy on a kind of "silent treatment" just to teach him a lesson. Cool

well....it is getting to the point of $1,000 coin (sell it all) or $4,000 coin (sell 1/4th) all comes down to get me by till I can retire in 2.5 years with

my (by then with IMHO coming recession) 1/2 worth traditional investments and social security and Medicare.

Thus, any more dumping is probably 'meh' Smiley I mean if it all goes to sh*t I get enough for above....if it all hangs together I can keep 1/2, 3/4 or the rest

and still, have enough for the above

which is: "I do not want to work for anyone...ever again...."

thus, with my panic 9-year old 13 BTC dump the other day..and LTC dump I can get thru this next  year...so the pucker factor is reduced dramatically

 (whew!)

my fear is that a LOT of people retired on crypto ..likely will have to sell some at least like me...or they had a crypto biz and were their own boss say

the last 2 or 3 years and sure as hell will dump coin...NOT to work for someone again...

damn, there are a lot of moving parts in all this...

brad

It remains kind of tough to give feedback on this kind of thing, because it is really NOT adviseable to be selling on the way down.  ONLY thing is that if you sell 25% at $4k and that would prevent you from selling all of it at $1k (or selling any more on the way down), then that seems to be a better move that might get you back into the right pattern, especially if prices were to go to $1k, then maybe you could use some of the proceeds from the $4k sale to buy back or otherwise just to live with your selling decision no matter which direction the price goes.

naw...covered my ass for the next year...have a side 401k i can tap if it all goes to sh*t and still wait till 66 on traditional inverstments...all in all same buying power I ever had..even if BTC goes tulips

so dumped 13 BTC and LTC to cover this last year before Medicare....just to sleep more soundly....sell some/sell it all/sell whatever...probably is not needed at all anymore...if it is so bad to sell it all covered till retirement...if 1,2,3,4k coin same...was just 2019 that had me puckered up...

it was 200 buck btc anyway...so ...i can't complain Smiley

but as I've said before folks...get your debts paid down, get new tires on the car, do SOMETHING, I've been thru 5 recessions or some such...this next one IMHO will be in 2019 and 40% downturn in my view...if I'm wrong I'm pleasently surprised...if I'm right my coping mechanism is in full form

hopefully BTC will act as a store of value and go up a bit or at least sideways

so anyway, I'm good now till under $1k BTC and then I'd be so pissed I'd likely HODL anyway...just out of pure hatred and bile spite....man that would piss me off Sad

damn brave a person is..when 2019 is covered 'in cash' ....and retirement is secure....work is evil!

edit: but yeah I should have sold higher....(or if this is the high...I sold just right ....shudder.....)

on that you are correct..I should have 'panic'd like a 9-year old girl at around 8.5k BTC Sad

Think what you want, I could upload my degree and you would call it fake anyway. I don't think I am smarter than anyone here. I am shooting down your bullshit arguments with logic so nobody becomes a "roach" and makes this world a shittier place. And you don't like that. Simple.

take them up to the court.

All the contracts are officially translated in English , they are as effective as ones we use in our language.

You are also more than welcome to get your own lawyer and have him go through our contracts.

If there are terms/conditions that you and your lawyer think they are not ok, we are open to amend them ( before signing)

Butterfly Labs, GAW miners, etc, etc...they had the same...contracts, cloud mining, etc....all legal...still scam'd everyone...took the coin, went bankrupt

not saying you are anything but honest...but unsure how a 1/2 the world away hosting would work...essentially even with 'free electric'

not sure with other costs a $45 Bitmain L3+ Scrypt Pow miner would make any sense as an example.

I know of 'handshake' deals like this that have worked from Japan to the USA...not seen many successful ones the other way around...though to be fair

it makes more sense to go east then west for electric prices

So I need to ask, how many of you have basically hodl from the ATH till now.

Mostly codl hodl since years. As in, several boom/bust cycles.

I have a minor percentage as 'trading stock'. I've described my laddered standing orders strategy several times in this thread. I make BTC when price is going down, and I make $ when price is going up.

I took some out at the turn of the year in order to buy a lambo.

I pani'cd sold 13 btc at $3,964.20...the other day...just to get me into fall of 2019 and still retired...

got 1 week till my coinbase limit resets....if it is under 3k by then...I may just do this again with more BTC.

50% down in value for the month....could be a hint that I'm stupid Sad
