201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: brazil sanctioned law that taxes online betting in the country on: March 22, 2024, 02:52:05 PM
No I do not have a problem with such tax implementation.

Taxes are the lifeblood of the government- without such, the government machinery will render incapacitated in order to provide any security, benefit, and projects to the nation. As you can say, tax implementations have this reciprocal relationship with its citizens- the people will pay their corresponding taxes and the government will provide benefits due to such payment thereof. In an ideal world, this can greatly benefit all as this would result to a win-win situation to both the people and the government.

The problem lies on how tax is implemented and executed. There are instances where tax can be a tool to destroy, as said by the late Chief Justice Marshall.1 While this may be the case, still, tax implementation is a necessary function for the government.

In its implementation to gambling, taxing such platform is severely needed due to its rising popularity. This can bring tons of revenue to the government; and in return the latter would provide more opportunities to its citizens.

202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your worst nightmare in a casino? on: March 22, 2024, 12:27:06 PM
I’m talking about the potential problem that you might encounter in the casino. Personally,  My worst nightmare that I don’t want to happened to me is when I hit huge jackpot while the casino investigate my account ask documents that will support my financial capability on gambling.

I’m only reading this issue on scam accusation but this is painful if happened to me like hitting max multiplier on slot games that result to 50K profit. Can’t imagine finally hitting my dream multiplier then casino seize my profit. This is just an abstract discussion so we are not really assuming that casino will do this especially the reputable casino.

We actually have the same nightmare.

To expound on the topic clearly, I fear that if I won a jackpot worth millions of dollars, there will be a technicality that can withhold my winnings, ultimately negating me for any prize winnings on my end.

The reason on why I chose this fear is due to various articles mentioning the same experience to other people in casinos. There have been report of people winning jackpots on slot machine, only for their winnings to be completely negated due to a technicality. Also, these gambling companies can get away with such technicality AND they offer some sort of consolation prize on your end.

I mean, in the grand scheme of things, a win is a win no matter how much you won. But still, if a person wins a jackpot then they are entitled to its full amount (minus taxes) and without any technicality from the gambling establishment.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friends engaging on P2P gambling insights grudges amongst themselves on: March 22, 2024, 09:57:16 AM
This is why I don't want to gamble in real P2P, but if my friend keep forcing me, I will ask him to bet as low as possible or bet on ridiculous stuff e.g. candy, snack etc.

It's nothing new for the losers keep complaining about their losses, just like many users in this forum who create fake accusation even though they're loss and broke the rules. That's why third party is needed here.

I agree with your statement.

Bringing your friend in a gambling establishment CAN be a good idea but it can quickly backfire since money here is involved. Another thing, if you also bring your friend along, they may offer you some cash or loan to continue your habits. But that loan/cash comes with a conditional requirement that you have to fulfill. Not to mention, if you won using their money, they would definitely feel entitled to receive at least 50% of the total prize you just won.

In conclusion, having a friend/companion with you can be a good idea if you want to bring someone along to tag or to accompany you. But other than that, the risks are just too great for you to experience and expect financial problems to be involved in the process.
204  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic growth and it effect on the standard of living on: March 21, 2024, 05:50:28 PM
Economic growth growth is an increase in the production of goods and services of a nation

Effect on the living standard of a population can't be overemphasized as it has an impact on the living standard of any country

When ever there's an economic growth there is always a creation of jobs and new opportunities for the population thereby translating to creation of wealth of the population

Guys what do you think about economic growth as it affects standard of living let discuss

If there is a positive economic growth in a country, this signifies that there are lots of infrastructures in order to provide opportunities and jobs for its people. This necessarily follows a consequence and a chain reaction of people having their designated job and source of income in this kind of scenario.

So it follows that if there is a good economic growth in a country, the standard of living of everyone will necessarily improve and be affected. If there is also a positive economic growth, there will be more cashflow and liquidity in the market that can maintain this kind of norm in the financials.

In conclusion, if there is a positive economic growth in a given country, the standard of living of all will improve greatly.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: March 21, 2024, 05:17:06 PM
Hi everyone,

Gambling has become very popular in the world , especially after the changes that have occurred over the years with modern technology and the abundance of games, we can now gamble with one push    anywhere and anytime . More money is flowing to sites and casinos in huge quantities, and everyone’s goal is to win more ,As is always known, if there is a loser, there is a winner, and I don't think that the percentage of losers is greater than the winners .

Is this true gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it?

Well it depends on how you would approach it in the first place.

We have seen countless of posts discussing about the destructive effects of gambling due to the addiction that it can potentially cause to a person. While this is true, we still cannot take away the fact that there are people who profited from gambling and made it their lifelong career from it. For example, there are professional poker players that are known worldwide (e.g.Daniel Negreanu, etc.).

Additionally, if you want to profit from gambling, then you should know your bounds and limits. Learn NOT to overextend your time and to control your expenses to avoid any irresponsible decisions that may come along the way.
206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be ready when it comes to selling? on: March 21, 2024, 04:23:18 PM
If you are planning on selling your cryptocurrency in an exchange, do it in an exchange that is already well-known and relatively secured. While there is still no guarantee of safeness, I still recommend that you consider the large/big exchanges if you plan on going this route.

Personally, I convert and keep my BTCs in our local exchange in our country. I do understand the risks of putting my BTCs in such a fragile position and I also plan on purchasing a hardware storage for my BTCs in the near future. Perhaps I may do it once after the halving is done to maximize the prices at this current time.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake and Bruno Mars An Example of How Gambling Addiction Can Affect Anyone on: March 21, 2024, 03:47:10 PM
According to various articles posted, MGM already made a statement regarding Bruno Mars' alleged gambling debt and that such claim was unfounded.1

Also according to the article, the person who made this claim was an anonymous insider in the Las Vegas Strip. This makes it even worse as there can be no verification made by this person. Perhaps this anonymous person tries to discredit the image of Bruno Mars just because he gambles.

Well, this news exploded on social media and people were already making their opinions about the said rumor. I just hope that this does not discredit and destroy the image of Bruno Mars as a whole.

208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 21, 2024, 02:19:57 PM
Do you feel sad when your favorite team loses a match and the bet (if you had placed a bet on that match)?

It is part of every sport where a team loses and a team wins the match. A team is happy and a team is sad, not only in cricket but in other sports too like basketball, volleyball and the last best sport Football.

Yes definitely! If I will be complete honest with you, I still cannot go over with when the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the playoffs last 2016. Every time I see videos of it, I just automatically skip it; and I cannot handle to watch the match highlights of that said match.

Most of the time, sports betting can be emotional as this ties up with your emotions  both on the winning team and on winning the bet. It already sucks to see your team losing and it adds insult to injury that you also lost the bet.

I guess this is how sports betting works- instead of being subjective, you really have to be objective when it comes to your bets and matches. Even if you want to bet on your favorite team, if the odds are better against the opposing team, then you must bet on the latter to win.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer's fan took his own life due to addiction on: March 21, 2024, 01:07:29 PM
In my opinion, all those gambling streamers should be exterminated like the plague.  Most of them earn money by endorsing gambling platforms and streaming games with fake money, drawing in younger susceptible viewers vulnerable to addiction.  This is exactly why Twitch banned gambling livestreams.

Well you have to look at it at two (2) perspectives:

First, these streamers are making money by the advertisements that they were hired for. These advertisements can range from any kind of platform, whether it be sports, games, gambling, etc. At the end of the day, they are basically "hired" to advertise and it is their job to fulfill this obligation.

Second, streamers have also the obligation to determine which kind of advertisements they would allow on their channel. Naturally, they will pick an advertisement that has the highest offer they may be given. Despite this offer and money, they still have the obligation to know their audience and the implications of their actions.

With that being said, it can still be argued that Adin Ross is just doing his job. Necessarily, all the consequences of his advertisements should not be taken against him as every person is capable of deciding on their own. On the other hand, it may also be argued that there must be a limit on how a streamer advertises gambling given that this platform is very destructive due to addiction.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling friendly countries on: March 20, 2024, 04:39:31 PM
We all know that gambling income is heavily taxed in most of the countries. This is because most of the countries have separate taxes for the gambling related income. I want to know which are the most gambling friendly countries which charge very less or nil income tax on gambling winnings ?

I do think that majority of the countries have their respective taxes on gambling. I also believe that there exists no country that has 0% tax on it given on how much revenue it can give to a certain country due to the amount of people and money involved.

Just to give you a concrete example, in the Philippines, our Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation garnered a whopping p79.3 billion PHP or around ~$1.4 billion dollars of revenue in our country.1 It is actually responsible for bringing the highest revenue so far in the country which can build infrastructures and projects for the country.

So if you are looking for a country with 0% tax laws regarding gambling, then you will be having a bad time. Personally, just choose a country where you are comfortable with and exercise the prerogative of gambling in that said country.

211  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the dip people!!! Could be last chance for prices this low on: March 16, 2024, 05:34:25 PM
Or it might start crashing more and more like the last bull run. People will buy now, tomorrow it crashes further and then they will end up regretting. They have to either hold it for years or sell it at a loss. You can't predict the market, so you can't say for sure that this is the last chance to buy low. Markets are very volatile right now. Best is to only invest what you can afford to lose and the money you won't be needing anytime soon (or for years). Remember, there are still people that bought bitcoin when it reached the lower $16k and are still waiting to sell it. And then there were people that bought the coins during the last all time high, and has been holding for years. They are also waiting for selling it which might cause the market to go down further.

I think the moral of the story here would always be to buy at a price where you are financially comfortable with. At the end of the day, you should start asking yourself on why you want to invest in BTC in the first place- do you invest for short or long-term HODLing? The answer will depend on how you would approach the given price of BTC in the current market as the dip currently could either be the last dip or its price ceiling for the whole year.

Personally, I would definitely recommend people to start investing now due to the upcoming fork next month. By basing it on the history of forks, there is a trend where the price of BTC increases in the process. Naturally, this should be the basis of at least majority of the people on deciding whether they should acquire more BTCs in the process or not.
212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A curious Newbie!! on: March 16, 2024, 05:18:44 PM
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie with crypto knowledge though. I'm here to network. I see some beautiful profiles with lots of merits and I'm interested in being like that someday. How can that be achieved? Is it like a gift or something.. pls help 😎

Nope, merits are something that are earned through hard work and patience. If you want to earn some merits, then you must at least share something that is beneficial to this forum that may garner you some merits in the process.

As a newbie, merits should be the LEAST thing that you should think about. You can make it as your goal but your first priority should always be arming yourself with all the necessary information about the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies. One cannot share something that they do not own or know- teach yourself first and maximize all the tools available on the internet so you could at least have some foundation about cryptos.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online Crypto-Gambling Legal in a Country Without Gambling Laws? on: March 16, 2024, 03:02:35 PM
Not because there is no law, it simply means legal.  Remember there is also no law that states that online crypto casino is legal.  Remember when we use the term legal, it is permitted by the law, but in this case, there is no law that define the legality of the said online crypto gambling.

I find this very confusing- it does not necessary mean that a law must be published in order for something to be legal.

Though this may be an extensive topic and discussion, I humbly submit that an act, for it to be considered illegal, must be written down on some sort of mandatory law. We live in a world where laws are more of "prohibitory" rather than "mandatory" only with a couple of exceptions. By applying such, I do think that if there is NO law expressly mandating gambling activities to be illegal, then it is legal perse.

It is going to be a difficult situation if an act, which is not expressly prohibited, suddenly becomes illegal after the consummation of such activity. That would amount to an ex post facto law which is definitely unconstitutional.

Well with all things considered, I still humbly submit that there must be a law expressly prohibiting a specific act for it to become illegal. The absence of such law means that it is indeed, legal in all aspects (though there are exceptional circumstances and examples here).
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About running an online casino vs an offline casino on: March 16, 2024, 02:33:55 PM
I know that it's not easy to run a casino, hire workers and some professionals and others, my question is. ....

1. Is running offline casinos the same as running an online casino?

No they are different.

An online and an offline setting are different in multitude of ways given that there are different factors to consider especially in the handling of employees. In an online setting, what you need is an active customer service that can reply to queries as soon as possible. On the other hand, an offline casino must be present at the establishment at all times.

Though there are still many ways that they differ, the biggest difference here lies on the amount of capital needed. Operating an online casino is much cheaper compared when operating an offline casino since the latter requires you to have an establishment, etc.

Quote
2. What do online casinos have to lose if they aren't making as much money as they intended?

If an online casino is not making much money as intended, then there lies somehow on how it is being operated.

Naturally, advertisements are key in order for your casino to be known by users. Also, there are operation expenses that are definitely needed in the online setting given on how crucial it is to attract users. Lastly, having rewards and bonuses can have an impact to future/potential customers for you to keep retention as high as possible.

Quote
3. With online casinos, isn't the number of hiring being limited compared to someone who wants to run an offline casino?

Yes- the amount of people you hire in an online casino is relatively lower compared to an offline casino. The biggest difference is its nature- an online setting exists on the internet; while an offline casino requires a designated establishment which requires tons of capital for operation.

Quote
4. Which one is more easier to manage than the other?

This actually depends but I do think that an online casino is relatively easier to manage due to its nature. Given on how flexible managing online platforms are, operating them may be simpler compared to operating an offline casino.

Quote
And the last question is, which one would you go for if you have the resources?

I would definitely consider operating an online casino.

The shift from vising offline casinos to accessing online platforms is the new trend. More and more people are exploring technological advancements which means that products/services may very soon shift to an online setting.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online Crypto-Gambling Legal in a Country Without Gambling Laws? on: March 16, 2024, 12:55:17 PM
legality of online crypto-gambling in countries like the UAE or Saudi Arabia, where traditional gambling is illegal, is a complex issue.
Is Online Crypto-Gambling Legal in a Country Without Gambling Laws?

Yes, gambling may be considered legal without any gambling laws.

Nullum crimen nulla poena sine lege- This means that there is no crime if there is no law punishing it. This is a legal principle which is accepted in most countries that state that a person is not criminally liable for a crime that the law does not prohibit.

By applying this principle, if there is no law expressly prohibiting an act, then it is not a "crime" under the eyes of the law. Again, if there is no law punishing a person from gambling activities, then it may be considered as legal in all its precepts. But to be sure, you have the obligation to show that there exists no law that expressly prohibits gambling.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Scratch Offs on: March 16, 2024, 12:12:39 PM
Here is a fun question: What is the most you have ever won off of a scratch off ticket? What brand ticket was it?

Haha there is this funny story that I want to share about scratch off tickets:

Back in 2015, my brother loves to gamble to the point that he almost relies on it for his monthly savings. Since having money was very limited to us given that we were raised by a single father, my brother wanted to explore all possibilities of earning money in order to fund his weekly expenditures.

One day, we wanted to try the lottery but after seeing the line, we stopped and went back to looking for casinos. But upon visiting another lottery store, we found that they were selling lottery and scratch off tickets. So my brother tried the lottery and I was the one who purchased the SOT. Before that, my brother did not believe on the integrity of these tickets- he said that the chances of a person winning is very slim, which is somehow similar to hitting the lottery.

Long story short, I tried the SO and I won $100 in which my brother borrowed my money to bet. It was a good day for us since the money that he borrowed from me made him win $200. So at the end, we both walked away with $100 on our pockets!
217  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Have I been Scammed?? on: March 16, 2024, 09:15:37 AM
OP, let this be a learning lesson for you to never trust anyone especially if you deal with people on various Telegram groups.

As a general rule, whenever you see people offering various services, projects, and tokens in a Telegram group, that should already spark a red flag for you to avoid. Based from my experience and the experience of others, there is little-to-no benefit from joining telegram groups. You are just most likely exposed to certain scams by people who offer projects with ridiculous promises of returns.

Now to answer your question- YES OP, you have been scammed. Avoid dealing with Telegram groups from now on and if you still insist, then please consult this forum first for help and guidance.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Years ago people laughed at me bcz of THIS on: March 15, 2024, 10:14:48 PM
BTC is digital gold, Stoling Millions of BTC from people was  definitely worth to making and spreading covid.
Thats what you dont understand.
I'm lost
How did Covid lead to stealing of People's BTC.
Reduction in the value of BTC
Doesn't reduce the unit one has.
Covid Crash is a famous event in history, On that day, the price of Bitcoin dropped more than 50% in less than a few hours and many people sold it and In fact, they gave their bitcoins to whales as a gift.

I remember this is also what most felt when BTC was just starting on its inception. People were very skeptical about its use, so they sold majority of their BTCs in which only a few HODL.

Also, back in 2017 when I first started, price of BTC was sitting comfortably at ~$4,000. There were people saying that BTC would soon "pop" and its price would plummet in the following years due to its volatility.

If there is a similarity between these two stories is that almost everyone was proven wrong. By basing it purely on its price history, you could already have an impression that the price trend is increasing over the years.

220  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake websites of Pinksale exist online, so be careful. on: March 15, 2024, 05:00:12 PM
If you join a Telegram channel about cryptocurrencies and you see a bunch of people advertising various projects, then run and do not ever look back.

As mentioned also, TG groups are just one of the most notorious platforms for spreading fake and scam projects. Due to the anonymity that it provides, lots of people create fake wallets with malware in order to trick newbies. Not to mention, if a person randomly messages you telling to invest in a certain project or if they claim that they have free deposit bonuses on an exchange, then that calls for various red flags.

Again, prevention is always better than cure. Avoid these platforms and be responsible enough to double or even triple check every website that you might potentially invest in given that scammers are developing new ways in order to trick people.
