1141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can old people use bitcoin? on: March 10, 2023, 03:34:27 PM
If adoption comes around, will their be higher consumer congenial systems for old people to utilize crypto? What are your phrenic conceptions?

Old human beings are the first to emerge as inclined to scams if adoptions comes around, and I suppose like crypto is a spectacular way for these guys to get screwed.

I don't be conscious of how this is going to work out for old human beings who cannot even know private/public keys let on my very own hot/cold wallets.

I think it is possible for old people to use BTC but an important requisite for it to happen is their interest towards this subject. If they truly and willingly want to learn about the fundamentals of cryptocurrency, then they would most certainly understand and use it on their day-to-day transactions.

One problem might arise if you force these people to learn, especially if they show signs that they are not interested about it. Again, investing is not for everyone and some people prefer their respective methods of investing their resources.

If you know someone who is interested, then teach them personally so that they could see concrete examples of its application.
1142  Economy / Gambling / Re: No bet is a waste on: March 10, 2023, 02:26:06 PM
What you have explained is the same as don't think too much about what you gamble as you already know and decided that the amount of money you will spend in gambling is you can afford to lose it. If you win after you bet then it's good and if you lose then it's fine. It is like that if you ask me. If you use or base your bets on other's prediction then it won't be 100% sure win as you know that it is only a prediction though they did gather some information before deciding that result and share it to gamblers.

I actually do not understand on how "no bet is a waste" considering the risks that are involved with it. I mean, okay- you decide whether you want to bet or not but if you lose, the chances of you betting again (thereby increasing your losses) would increase. The natural response of a person is when they feel that they hit a loss, their initial reaction is to bet again.

I do think this kind of mindset supports addiction perse in a way that it gives false hope on every bet. As OP mentioned, there is this chance of winning (e.g. lotto winners who bet, etc.) but if you suddenly stop, then how would you recover all those losses that have incurred?

I agree with this, OP. Pero sa totoo lang, minsan kasi it is easier said than done given na madami ding tao ang nag iinvest na napakalaking amount ng BTC. This means na ang slightest movement sa price could equate to a profit/loss of thousands to millions of pesos. Kaya more than this, dapat may contingency plan talaga para hindi masyado manghinanayang.

Quote

Sabi nga daw nila, the sharpest of blades are created in the strongest of fires.
1144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you 'Will' your bitcoin to your children? on: March 09, 2023, 11:33:25 PM
In a case where you have five children and you don't have much physical assets but you have a enough bitcoin that non of your children are aware of it. Now your age is advancing, you begins to prepare "WILL" and there is no way to divide and share bitcoin account to the five children! What will you do? Since non of them are aware.

Can you "WILL" the private key to your favorite child or call them together and reveal the private key to them? Or what will you do?
OK guys is up to you!

Good question- this is something that I have been personally debating whether to reveal the private keys to my children (though it would be complicated); or to assign it to someone who is trustworthy enough to reveal it to the kids once they reach the age of majority (or at least the age where they could understand it). Both decisions have their respective pros and cons, especially on the latter, as it is difficult to look for someone whom I can trust completely.

If I were in that position, I would take 70% of my BTCs and convert it to cash so that I could allocate it in a different investment (e.g. stocks, estates, etc.). From there, I would invest the remaining 30% as BTC and put the private key in a safety deposit box where they could have access in the future. I do believe that once they attain the age of majority, their knowledge would help them decide on what to do with it.
1145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Ponzi Schemes - People are confused. on: March 09, 2023, 11:17:53 PM
...
Now, this does not sound very important, but it actually are one of the most critical things that needs to be addressed. We should counter all of these misinformed people, with education on what Bitcoin is, because they lose money on Ponzi schemes and then they blame it on Bitcoin.

I find it too impulsive for people to claim that investing in BTC is the same as investing in Ponzi. It is like you are saying that investment in general is a scam since you use money as the currency for it.

I guess this is one of those instances where these kind of people bring down the image of BTC. Given their current status celebrities, their influence extends to people who are also not familiar with BTC, thus ultimately discouraging them to even attempt to try it.

I am curious, however, is there some institution that can sue for defamation. Better, is it possible to sue for defamation given the public outburst they made in spreading false information about it?
1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Guidelines for European Online Gambling Operators on: March 09, 2023, 10:57:26 PM
With the rise of the popularity of online gambling casinos, people are taking advantage of this situation in order to elicit illegal activities. From what I know, in the Philippines, gambling company will not be operated if there are no corresponding licenses provided by the government. In addition, there must be some law allowing the privilege for the use of such franchise or operation of this gambling casino, which makes it relatively difficult for people to operate here.

There isn't an agency responsible for this matter yet, because the regulatory guidelines aren't clear enough about online gambling in the country yet (grey area).

However, there are news saying the governments is willing to regulate it in details this year, due to the raising popularity of sports betting services and frauds involved on the process by scammers.

I believe by the end of this year we are already going to have more updates regards gambling regulations here, although I'm fearful, because it was also said companies will have to be based on the country to be allowed to operate.

I agree with you. This space is relatively new especially that its popularity started during the covid pandemic. The government started to realize that majority of the people preferred to gamble online. That is why, they have to strengthen their regulations against money laundering and other similar illegal means.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you Bet on a Fight that is Scripted? on: March 09, 2023, 10:36:25 PM
It's funny they say the fight is scripted, but the results are kept in secret, what isn't true at all, since results aren't a secret for the person who scripted the fight and can leak the informations to anyone he wants, besides the actors involved and so on. Wink

For me it looks a money making method for insiders of the industry and not gambling at all. The probabilities of cheating by the people on the top of the pyramid is just too high.

I definitely agree with you. To be honest, I find it crazy that people tend to gamble on a platform which is known for being scripted in the first place. With this in mind, personally, I find it more difficult to bet on this kind of platform since the result may be more-or-less be unpredictable.

If that were the case, I would try to bet on a fight that is scripted but I will never wager an amount that is considerably high. I might try my luck just to see if the information that got leaked is genuine, but more than that, I would just try it to experience it.
1148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A remark on casino bonuses on: March 09, 2023, 03:17:04 PM
Enticing promo banners but tncs that make these promos largely useless and these tncs aren't obvious from looking at banners. Upon click they redirect you to login/registration page whereas I feel click on to banner should redirect user to that particular promo's tnc.

This is one of those instances where banners and promotional ads attract users in order to gain traffic from this gambling website. Without any of these promotional ads, these gambling companies would struggle to gain traction from its users. Also, as a pre-requisite to this given bonuses, these people must abide, follow, and register on their gambling website. This also follows that they have to agree with their conditions (e.g. KYC, information, etc.).

I do not think that these banners are "useless" perse like what you mentioned OP. Again, the purpose focuses on gaining attraction and users are not compelled to follow these certain TNCs in the first place.
1149  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [NEWS] GCrypto is now available to selected users on: March 08, 2023, 11:58:07 PM
Ah I thought same sila ng features ng binance kasi nag hold ako for a long time then naka cashout ako ng malaki that's what I meant sa paldo. Thanks for correcting, mag reresearch pa ko about dito since ngayon ko lang narinig tong Gcrypto.

Since nasa app itself yung GCrypto, sobrang convenient na mag pasok ng pera dito and mag HODL ka for long-term.

Though narinig ko nga na mataas ang transaction fees dito, use this app as a secondary source for HODLing BTC and not your main platform when it comes to trading/investing.

1150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help - How to do signeture camping .. on: March 08, 2023, 11:40:18 PM
Hello everyone.. I'm am new in Bitcointalk.. I don't know the proper work.. I have participated in a signature camping which is free.. They are accepting Jr member.. The camping is helpful for me because I'm new and I don't know how to do signeture camping.. That is my 1st signeture camping participated.. I requested everyone to help me. I don't know how to do signeture camping!! Roll Eyes

Participating in signature campaigns requires you to impart your knowledge in multiple areas. Generally, these campaigns require you to post "x" number of times in a given week. If you are able to meet the required quota and other stipulations, you are rewarded weekly with a payment of BTC, which increases as your forum rank gets higher.

Of course, the competition is significantly tough in these campaigns as there is no shortage of good and quality posters coming daily.

If you truly want to participate and at least get a competitive edge among your competitors, you must be able to possess a good post quality. This includes your grammar, construction, and other knowledge in the cryptocurrency field that makes the manager choose you as their participant.
1151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 08, 2023, 11:25:56 PM
Not sure why, but last week he finally told me he wanted to try it. So we setup his software wallet and he bought 0.01 BTC. Not sure if he'll buy more, but I can certainly say I'm proud of him!

Did you manage to convince your dads or other older people in your family to buy BTC?

This story is certainly wholesome! The fact that his age does not stop him from betting and attempting to learn about cryptocurrencies warms my heart. But it also sends a message to everyone that age cannot hinder our goal in striving for success. Given that your dad is interested in this kind of technology, for sure that ht would be able to grasp and understand the basic fundamentals of BTC.

Personally, I tried convincing my mom in investing at least a certain amount of BTCs but she quickly dismissed the idea. She understood that it was risky, but she does not want to experience such risk with her money. Instead of investing, she focuses her attention to our needs and essentials.
1152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling using chip in money? on: March 08, 2023, 10:56:14 PM
Betting is spiritual, I can't afford to bet with a fellows money because there are lots of risk involved, first what if they lost his money while betting trying to play the slot who would take the blame or who would pay back Adin or his friend?
Despite how calm or cool him seems to be during betting and you notice you are on the  - minus side I don't expect a reasonable man to keep betting. However I never bet with a friend together or even betting with his money rather I have called a friend to borrow me money to try my last chance, borrowing doesn't mean it a huge money but very little which later send back to him after I got home because I couldn't get access to my mobile app to make a transfer.

To be honest, betting with a friend (or using his money) is deceiving in a way that he might give you permission. In the event that you do incur a profit, expect that your friend would at least receive the lion's share from it. But the moment that you lost your friend's money, expect that he would definitely ask for you to pay it- to the point of even breaking your friendship.

Betting/gambling is highly addictive and potentially dangerous especially when you are dealing with relatively high amounts of bets in a given process. There is that chance that you might win big and you might turn a $1000 bet and double/triple it, but the risks are too high for me to even consider betting that kind of amount.
1153  Economy / Gambling / Re: they are scamming us? on: March 08, 2023, 10:37:06 PM
That's why players stick to reviews or megathreads of casinos to see which ones are worthy over time. There are a few reputable reviewers here, like GOSU and GamblingBro that have reviewed casinos from time to time.

After all, gambling is all about luck and house edges hence it's a business for making money.

House edges were designed in order to at least give the online gambling company the "edge" when it comes to the bets. Given that gambling is a double-edged sword, this somehow guarantees that the odds are on their side in order to avoid them from going bankrupt. As well all know, these gambling companies are businesses- in which their primary focus is the earning of profits.

In order to counter this, some reputable companies explicitly mention the percentage of their house edge in order to keep the advantage on their side. Of course, the players are free to choose whether to continue or not but this is what keeps these online casinos alive and profitable.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would You Build your Own Casino(online/offline) If You Know You Can? on: March 07, 2023, 11:57:06 PM
If you made a billion dollars or even more, as someone who love gambling/betting and have been doing this on several other casinos for many years now, would you rather start your own casino?
Or would you prefer to keep gambling, doing your sports betting on other casinos even when you know you have more than enough money to start your own casinos and make the casino as big as you want it to be??

Inputs are greatly appreciated.

I would just continue to gamble just like any other normal person would do. The processes behind creating your own online casino is relatively difficult and complex, which requires a significant amount of investments for operations and advertisement. Not to mention, it must also be designed in a way that the edge would be on my side, as all online gambling companies are considered as "businesses."

If I truly want to maximize my resources, I would definitely venture into businesses that are completely different from gambling (e.g. stocks, investments, etc.). Remember that even by creating this gambling website as a part of an investment, there is always that risk of me losing. I do not want to gamble my investment and resources in a way that the risks are too much for me to handle.
1155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 07, 2023, 11:43:29 PM
trust me mate , you will regret that all your life as once I did this because of some personal matter that needs to be funded and that is totally against my will but have no choice back then.

if you can find way to fund your obligation to not sell your coins? better find it everything mate because this is what i did not those days.

But happy that now i am back on track and gathering my Bitcoin .

I am actually guilty of this currently- majority of my BTCs that I receive from my campaign are going towards my personal expenditure. Technically, I feel somehow numb about this but as soon as I remember the time when I first started (1 BTC = $4,000-$5,000), I realized that the potential of BTC increasing its price is soon.

To be honest, I just want to break this cycle of converting my personal BTCs to my local currency as soon as I receive it. I just want to stop and HODL my BTCs for future use so that I could maximize their value in the long-run.
1156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners - Keep your rooms clean, keep your backups ready to use & bring away on: March 07, 2023, 11:24:51 PM
Personally, saving your backup means having at least some copies for you to take care off. I remember, some were against having it posted on any social media in the event that it gets hacked, but I do think that putting it on a random e-mail can be relatively safe and secure.

If you are truly worried for its safety, then buy a safety deposit box and store all the necessary and important documents there. In addition, if you are married, telling the seed to your wife and giving her a copy can also be a way for you to store your backups. But at the end of the day, you should weigh all the pros and cons before you keep them in a specific place.

Sa tingin ko pwede namang gamitin ang crypto as a way of transactions dito sa pinas.

First of all, pwede ma-integrate ito sa services where tatanggapin ng mga establishments ito as a way for alternative payment.

1158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling earn someone a living on: March 07, 2023, 05:49:16 PM
No matter what anyone say, gambling can never be a source of livelihood for anyone. Anyone who gambles must already have an alternative source of income where he get the money he or she uses to wager on any game.

I definitely agree with you. The problem with gambling stems from its destructive and risky nature where no guaranteed income can be experienced. Sure, there may be some professional gamblers who make this as a living but compared to them, they are like the top 0.1% gambling players that can do that.

On days when someone will not have money to eat, how can they even think of gambling, where will they get the money to gamble. Gambling can give you a big amount to set up your life, but you must be doing something that gives you money to gamble and upon that money that you receive, you must not use or squander all gambling. You need to have something doing, so that on the days when you do not win at gambling, you will at least have food to eat. Somebody who has not seen food to eat can consider illegal thoughts.

That is true- playing gambling as a way of earning is something that is almost impossible to do without any huge capital on your end. Not only do you have to consistently replenish your funds, but you also have to risk all the odds against you. That is why, it is truly impossible to make gambling as a way of living and earning.

1159  Economy / Gambling / Re: I got frusted please help? on: March 07, 2023, 12:57:24 PM
2. no wager requirement before withdrawing
You are going to get this nowhere. I don't know any of such casino which allow you to withdraw before you make some wager. Wagering requirement is there to prevent money laundering. Otherwise, it will be easy to launder money by scammers, corrupt people, hackers. This make sense. Also, casinos are here to make money. If you don't play, how will they earn?

I definitely agree with you- the wagering requirement was designed in order to prevent any fraud or any illegal activity from happening in their gambling website. If it has been discovered that a gambling website removes this kind of restriction, not only will they be facing dire consequences but their whole operation would be force to shut down.

OP, if you are struggling in finding a gambling website, then you can always try and check reviews under this forum. Personally, I would go and invest my time on a gambling website that has an active campaign signature because it heavily implies that they are working hard on their reputation, along with funds allocated for such purpose.
1160  Economy / Gambling / Re: Diamond 5 Stake, account was hacked on: March 03, 2023, 11:45:35 PM

-Ops account has been involved in so much funds movement and locking that will make the process of the investigation, so it will take time before a response may be gotten from a stake official and I am sure stake support will reach out to you when there is an update.
I'm also sure that the support team from Stake will definitely look into it and will solve the problem soon because Stake is a big and trusted gambling platform so there's no way they can let it be so arrogant when a user is involved in a problem.
And all the OP needs to do is just be a little patient waiting for them to finish their investigation and give him clarity and good service regarding his case.
Stake has a lot of users so I think it's not only him who needs a solution but there must be other users who need it too so it's only natural that their support team hasn't given a response regarding this case.

This is what I find ironic- Stake if not, is one of the most popular gambling platforms out there but there are a lot of concerns and problems being posted on this board. Given with what they can achieve (e.g. hiring Drake as their brand ambassador), they should have at least put security as their main priority and focus in this aspect.

In addition to this, OP has been one of their bigger spenders in the platform. I truly wish that Stake should address these concerns carefully and with haste. While I do understand that there may be some issues, they should prioritize their customers feedback and concerns more if they want to retain their loyalty of players.
