201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2024, 05:06:41 AM
I don't dwell on it a lot. But at 67 to have 100 btc vs the much smaller amount I have would have been nice.

Everyone could have lots more BTC. Maybe if you had more BTC you wouldn’t have become such an inspiring miner to so many. Things happen as they should. Early on I was spending BTC supporting every product and service I could find on these forums. It’s easy to look back and say I should’ve just hoarded thousands of coins, but you never know what the butterfly effect could be. We all did exactly what we needed to do to get us where we are today, and that’s a pretty good place.

I saw a report that Bitcoin has $9,000,000,000 in shorts at $73K. Things could get wild fast if that gets squeezed.
202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 07, 2024, 04:51:36 AM
NBA scamming us again. How the fuck did Jayson Tatum only scored 16 points in 42 minutes of playing time, while KP played 20 minutes and scored 20+ points? 6/16 for Jayson Tatum. This is unbelievable. If he will keep playing like this he won't win NBA Finals this year. Brown or Holiday will make it. Worst night for Kyrie Irving too 37 mins for 12 points. 🤧

You can’t say enough how dominant Kristaps Porzingis was tonight. I think a lot of people expected Kyrie to come out and put on a show to get back at his former team after their rocky break up, but it was Kristaps Porzingis that showed up to dominate his former team. I guess his injury is healing well. I expect he’ll get more minutes in game 2.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 07, 2024, 02:02:21 AM
2nd quarter with 3 minutes remaining of the game and it's already 27 points lead in favor of the Celtics. I can't take it, too many turnovers on this quarter.  Lips sealed

I thought an 8.5 point spread was enough for me to be safe with the Mavericks.  I guess not.  Boston came out swinging.  It seemed a little obvious that they were the better team, but they're not THIS much better.  It seems like Boston's defense is really targeting Kyrie with the ball and keeping him from going off.  I don't want to say Boston in 4, but I figured this would be a close game or Dallas would surprise people with a win when I thought it would be Boston in 5 or 6.  Makes me think the 2023-24 NBA basketball season will be over pretty quickly...
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: June 07, 2024, 01:58:23 AM
Got my 300 in today.  I could probably push it to 400 but I don't see a need so I'll maybe try that another time.  Smaller sets would have probably helped me get through it easier.  Still, I feel pretty good that I did 300 today easier than it was to do 100 when I started this competition.  I for sure have never done 300 push-ups in a day before in my life.  Seeing the growth in push-ups of this community is almost as fun as watching the growth of Bitcoin.  I say almost because you guys aren't giving me any money.  Smiley  Push on!

205  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: June 06, 2024, 08:20:08 PM
I've gotten 130 push-ups in today.  I think I'm going to go for 300 just to push myself a little bit and see if I'm delusional about the possibility of doing 800 in a day (quite possible).  So far so good though.  I'll be able to hit 200 I think without much effort.  After that it might get a little difficult.  Actually, let me bang out another 20 real quick so I can say I am halfway to my goal for the day...

...alright, that was a quick 30.  160 on the day en route to 300.  I'm going to space them out quite a bit in an attempt to make it easier on me so I'm not sore when I get my 100 in tomorrow.

@210 now. Still feel good.

@275

ROBINHOOD TO BUY BITSTAMP, A GLOBAL CRYPTOCURRENCY EXCHANGE

Is going to be Robinood the WO elected venue for Wall Observing?

That is crazy news… I’m not sure how I feel about it from a personal perspective but overall for the industry this is incredibly bullish. Robinhood is known for having high risk investors and pairing them with on-ramps for crypto is probably a good match that will benefit everyone. I just hope bitstamp’s service doesn’t decline as a result.
You are kidding, right? It's been practically dead for several years. Not only because of the poor liquidity and high fees, but mainly because of the new ridiculous KYC requirements. At first I thought the numerous letters in my email to be some spam, but after login I was astonished they were true. They wanted from me to provide origin of  my fiat savings, like bank account statements to prove I got income. There were other similar things like the origin of my crypto, proof of mining, etc. So, at that very moment I closed  my account there forever.

I can understand that opinion.  Kraken & Gemini did the same thing to me, or actually a little worse but I won't go into that too much.  I would never use either one of them again either.

I guess I don't really worry about Bitstamp because I haven't used their service in like a decade so if it's declined then I would be unaware.  Also, my account is fully verified and KYC'd already so I'm not sure what else I could provide them.  I'd happily let them know where any BTC I get that touches their platform came from, but can understand there are those that wouldn't.  I'm on my best behavior when it comes to exchanges, at least until my mtgox BTC is distributed and held in self-custody.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: June 06, 2024, 08:10:07 PM
I'm unsure if Biden will end up being the candidate.  I think I'm more certain that Biden will not be the next President than I am that Trump will be.  There's just no world where someone in Joe Biden's condition is the best candidate for President of the United States.  I'm suffering from secondhand embarrassment for the democratic party.  This current administration has to be one of the worst in the history of the world in my opinion.  Sure, they will try to cheat the election again (confirmed again yesterday in Arizona), but at this point I think their support is so low, even with cheating I don't think they can win.
208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: June 06, 2024, 08:05:20 PM
I think that Boston will win this series.  I think that Boston will win tonight's game.  However, I don't like the odds against Dallas that I'm seeing.  Especially for a game 1 when Dallas has already beaten them multiple times during the season and Boston has been without Kristaps Porzingis for a few games.  I think tonight has all the makings of an upset, so I'm going with the best odds for Dallas here.  I think they can lose by less than 9 and have a chance to win, so there you have it.  I would've taken Boston to win if the odds were better.

Handicap (Incl. Overtime)
Dallas Mavericks (8.5)

209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conor Mcgregor VS Michael Chandler 💥🥊💥 on: June 06, 2024, 08:03:07 PM
Wasn't this fight canceled already ? Because I don't see anything official regarding this fight and with press conference being canceled

The fight still announced on the site as you can see here:

https://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-303

And the fact that casinos let you bet on it means the fight hasn't been canceled yet. But there is a lot of speculation in the ambient, people are skeptical about this fight happening, and there are a lot of rumors but nothing verified, as you mention, the fact that they canceled the press conference is a hard signal that something is wrong here. But maybe is just marketing, they are trying to generate suspense.

Conor released a statement on social media yesterday and then instantly deleted it, but someone recorded it for people to hear.  Conor was saying how this fight isn't cancelled, he just does whatever he wants and when the fight arrives he'll be there and will emerge the winner.  I don't know if this was a drug fueled delusional rant, or if he's really going to fight.  I suspect the former, but I'd like to be surprised.  As a fan of McGregor in his heyday, I don't even care if he gets his career ended again.  I just want to see the guy do what he was born to do, fight.

Absolutely amazing. A successful splash down landing for the heavy booster and Starship flying around the earth. SpaceX is an amazing company that is going to change mankind’s footprint. One of the more exciting developments of my lifetime. Awesome to watch.

Edit: Successful splash down for the Starship. Amazing. This was something special to see.

212  Other / Politics & Society / Starship Test Flight 7:20am (Texas time) on: June 06, 2024, 05:15:22 AM
SpaceX is doing yet another Starship test launch with the hope of making it through reentry without burning up. Elon has stated that this test flight will be streamed live on X for those interested in watching. I don’t have a link but I’m guessing it will be obvious when using the app. Should be at 7:20 am “Texas time” according to Musk. Feel free to post your favorite clips/pics here for those who sleep through it.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting - How to determine if the line is a trap? on: June 06, 2024, 05:09:13 AM
Whenever I’m sports betting and the line looks off to me I usually start researching why that is. Most of the time it’s a star player out with an illness or family emergency, etc. I’ve been guilty in the past of just taking the bet and thinking I got a deal only to find out later that I didn’t know something. So if something looks off, find out why.
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: June 06, 2024, 04:58:30 AM
Got myself a nice swim in after doing my push-ups today. I see that people have some thoughts about my 1000 push-ups in a day when we break $100K. I’ll admit I have no idea how difficult that will actually be, so I propose myself a new challenge. 800 push-ups the day we break $80K. I’ll give it a try. I may not make it, but I want to challenge myself to find my limits.
Taking on the challenge of doing a thousand push-ups to break $100k requires you to be in the gym two-thirds of the day, a very difficult task indeed. People live in a busy life. Such challenges are only for those who live a life of great luxury and have a lot of money. Many of them are not ready to take such a challenge because they can prepare themselves to do 100 push-ups in different sets a day to keep their body fit. You take the 800 push-up challenge to break $80k no problem, it seems like a crazy decision to me but remember one thing if the rope is too tight it can snap.

You could very well be right. I have no idea how many push-ups I can do in a day. Maybe I’d hit 300 and stop or maybe I’d hit 500 and my arms would snap. Who knows? I probably wouldn’t push myself to that level, but I think I can do a lot more than 200. 800 might be ambitious, but I feel like maybe I could get there. Perhaps I should try 300 first.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conor Mcgregor VS Michael Chandler 💥🥊💥 on: June 06, 2024, 04:54:34 AM
I don’t think this fight is happening. They cancelled it. According to Dana White Conor injured his shin during a sparring match and will be unable to fight. Whether or not they reschedule it I believe is an unknown, but with Conor having a fresh injury right before his comeback, I think we may never see Conor in the cage ever again.

I don’t really watch hockey so I probably won’t be placing any bets unless something happens to get me interested in the series. I have a buddy who is a big fan of Dallas so if they had made it maybe I’d have a little invested in watching the games. Still, good luck to anyone whose team made it this far!
218  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: June 06, 2024, 01:07:40 AM
I have sold off the St.Petersburg Bitcoin Bowl Coin that was made by Casascius. I don’t believe it was ever pictured on this thread, nor does it hold actual BTC, but I wanted to update anyone that may be watching this thread. The brass coins are still available for sale if anyone wants them individually. Happy coining!
219  Economy / Reputation / Re: 13 years on bitcointalk… on: June 06, 2024, 01:02:10 AM
In your 13th anniversary, you gave us a shocking surprise by writing this long text which is common with JJG, actually you are among the least I expected to write something long as this.
It's amazing to see that there are so many people with this forum who have been here for a long time. In this we saw from another legend that he has been working with this form for 13 years and spending time with everyone. There are many more legendary people who have not spent time with the forum so far but they have left the forum long ago. @OgNasty There are very few people like you who have been with this forum for so long, but I congratulate you for staying with us for so long. Of course we hope you share your knowledge with us more and more so that we can learn from them and stick with this Forum for a long time like you.

One of the things I really appreciated about this forum when I joined was how I was able to contact and have discussions with people like Gavin Andresen, Mike Hearn, Roger Ver, even though I was a nobody.  I've tried hard to be that available for others over the years and while that has mostly resulted in people spreading lies about me to get a response, I know there are also many people out there who appreciate the time I take for people here.
Is Ironic how Gavin Andresen and Roger Ver became a disappointment now, while one moved from being the chief scientist in Bitcoin to become one who was supporting CW ad Satoshi though he had communication with Satoshi and was somehow the one who instigated Satoshi leaving when he went to give presentation about Bitcoin in CIA HQ while the other, Roger Ver moved from the Bitcoin jesus to become one who was misleading others to get bitcon cash as bitcon

Gavin Andresen and Roger Ver aren’t disappointments. They were people close enough to the situation to see what was happening and they chose to handle it in different ways. Gavin admitted he made a mistake with CW and walked away from Bitcoin development because he was being badgered by Blockstream supporters. Once they got control of development they started pushing their own patented scaling solution that was not only unnecessary, but lacked many of the things that made Bitcoin special. Roger then tried to fork the coin after Blockstream didn’t honor the New York agreement they agreed to in order to get miners to activate segwit. While Blockstream controls the narrative now, people are waking up to what they did and their dishonorable behavior to get their way at the cost of many existing Bitcoin businesses and use cases. In other words, the bad guys won and Gavin and Roger are now painted as enemies of the community they worked so hard for. I was there. Roger may not have handled it in the best way, but he is still a BTC legend and anyone who says otherwise is probably on the Blockstream payroll or learned about Bitcoin after 2016.
