1161  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SEEKING][ChiBitCTy???] Anyone have contact with ChiBitCTy?! on: December 23, 2023, 06:19:47 PM
I have a similar horror story with FedEx as well involving a PO Box.  I first learned that FedEx doesn't deliver to PO Boxes when I ordered a Bitcoin miner from a user on these forums.  I gave him my PO Box to ship the miner thinking that he would ship it and I would receive it just like any other package.  However, I was wrong.  What ended up happening was I received notification the package had been delivered and went to get it only to find it wasn't waiting for me.  I asked the people inside if they recalled seeing a FedEx delivery truck and was told that they dropped the package off at the front door of the post office and left...  Somebody got a free Bitcoin miner that day.  I learned my lesson.  FedEx was 0 help in resolving the situation.  I'll never use FedEx either.  Smiley
1162  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Anyone selling Bitcoin Magazine old editions? on: December 23, 2023, 06:15:08 PM
I am looking to purchase the older editions of Bitcoin Magazine for my collection.
Not sure if you have any issues with direct purchases from their website, but they still have almost all of the older editions [except for issue 2] in their store [in perfect condition]: Bitcoin Magazines

I still have Bitcoin Magazine edition #1 that I bought when they were released...  I see the store is selling them for $2,100!  Wow.  That's a pretty penny.  I would probably be willing to let mine go for less than that if you're interested.  Maybe not much less because it is a pretty cool collectible, but it's literally been sitting in the same spot for years and I've never even read through it, so it could probably find a better home elsewhere.  I'd be happy to provide you with pictures or a description of the condition, which is identical to the day I got it if the price is right.  Feels like forever ago...
1163  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 23, 2023, 06:07:04 PM
I think most of the coins that flow through mixers are from petty scammers and signature spammers who are taking precautions to cover up their own shady activity in order for it to continue.
I had used ChipMixer to not reveal to my merchants that the funds come from signature campaigns. It costed zero, and it was fast. I'm pretty sure lots of other clients thought it this way.

What do you think the merchants that receive funds from you marked to be from a mixer and possibly even from criminal activity think?  Your beliefs might be cute in your head, but when you're doing things that can get other people's businesses caught up in criminal investigations that doesn't make you a hero for privacy, it makes you an asshole.

Centralized solutions will obviously never solve the privacy problem.
But decentralized solutions will solve the "shady and criminal activity" problem... I'll never understand your perspective.

My perspective is that a privacy solution shouldn't setup someone to be investigated for accepting Bitcoin or land the service provider in jail while having all the service users' funds confiscated.  If all transactions are private, then we're all accepting the same consequences and fighting for privacy.  Your solution leaves the service provider and the unknowing recipient to take the fall for your privacy.  Again, not a hero fighting for privacy, a weasel that leaves others to take the fall for the sake of his privacy.  I don't want to support weasels, I want to fight for real privacy.

Good luck with finding a new signature after the 1st.  Hopefully then you'll stop shilling money laundering under the guise of privacy for a paycheck.
1164  Other / Archival / Re: Who is DaveF and what's his problem with me? on: December 23, 2023, 05:58:32 PM
Maybe people just disapprove your ... feud.

It's a shame that I could be retaliated against for defending myself from an extortion attempt, but I understand that people don't want to read through the mess that literally gave the troll perpetrating it a stroke.  I think it's pretty obvious that "feud" was just me being attacked by a mentally ill troll and even the Administrator of this site doesn't trust him while they trust me...  Regardless, that seems more of a reason to ignore me than to try and retaliate via the trust system even if you do wrongly believe I was involved as anything other than the target of an extortion scheme.  Which is why I pointed out that DaveF's use of the trust network is irrational and seems emotion based from my perspective or at the very least misguided.

EDIT: DaveF reached out to me regarding this issue and it seems to have stemmed from a miscommunication back in 2015 that I believe we've worked through now.
1165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 23, 2023, 05:39:04 PM
I keep seeing all these social media posts saying that McGregor is going to fight in UFC 300. Is this official yet? I thought the news wasn’t released yet but I’m seeing a lot of Conor McGregor at UFC 300 posts… I hope we do get to see him fight sooner than later. He isn’t exactly getting any younger and seems to be switching his focus to politics.

McGregor at the fight roster for UFC 300 is fine...  I mean he's still a draw so why not.  But McGregor headlining UFC 300 would be a fcked up decision by the UFC.  But dunno, it's just McGregor hasn't agreed in signing up for a match unless he's the main event.  We'll see if that changes for UFC 300, if he really is in the roster.  But if he agrees to fight but not be the main event then I guess that's the time when we're seeing McGregor's luster starting to dim imho.

We've already seen a few athletes redeem themselves after a downfall but I don't think McGregor will be one of them.  In a young man's sport like MMA, it's too late for him.

I sort of agree with you about McGregor's dominance in the sport.  The injury he sustained and the time off he took will be hard to overcome no matter how many steroids you've pumped into yourself.  He was a talented fighter though, so maybe he can still win.  Surely his prime is behind him though.  That being said, the dude still has an army of fans who want to see him fight.  Myself included.  Is he at the top of the sport right now?  No, obviously not.  He's still 100% the main draw though so for contract reasons I don't see him being anything but the main headliner ever for any fight night he's a part of.
1166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not a fan of Inscriptions? Perhaps you should run Bitcoin Core v 20.2 like I do. on: December 23, 2023, 05:34:07 PM
Are you a fan of censoring the blockchain?  Use pro-censorship node software!

There I fixed it for you.  This seems like a pretty slippery slope though.  How long before more transactions you don't like are added to the exclusion list?  When your coins are excluded from being transacted on the blockchain or your address is blacklisted, will you then think this is a bad idea?  I'm just wondering if you think letting this cat out of the bag won't result in it biting you at some point.  Personally, I think that letting certain transactions take advantage of the blockchain while censoring others that use the same method to accomplish a different goal is against what Bitcoin stands for.
1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Judge orders Craig Wright to pay over $1M on: December 23, 2023, 05:29:51 PM
Why is this person trying so hard to prove that he's Satoshi Nakamoto?

This has a really simple answer to be honest.  Most people don't take the time to look into WHY this grift is being attempted.  THAT PERSON is trying to convince people they are satoshi so that he can then convince people to support a reorg of the blockchain in order to give him access to satoshi's coins on the BSV chain.  He thinks if he can accomplish this then he can sue Bitcoin developers to do the same on the Bitcoin network unlocking billions of dollars for his own use.  That is the only reason he's trying to do this.  If there were no coins said to be owned by satoshi, you would have never heard of this man.
1168  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 23, 2023, 05:24:51 PM
I am a strong believer in the right to privacy (even if some people take it what I believe to be too far), and a centralized mixer has the potential to enhance privacy. Also, however, mixers have the potential to give nothing more than the illusion of privacy and highlight your transactions to governments and other nosy people.
I agree. Anyone who uses a mixer should consider that they might be a honeypot. And that's why it makes little sense for a real criminal to put these services above Monero and coinjoins, which are trustless.
There tends to be a good amount of coin that flows through the various mixers originating from criminal activity. This is why governments have employed resources into shutting down mixers and finding their operators.

I think most of the coins that flow through mixers are from petty scammers and signature spammers who are taking precautions to cover up their own shady activity in order for it to continue.  Not so much criminals trying to hide bank heists.  This is why I think the government has been reactive to mixers thus far.  Whenever a major theft in crypto takes place and is routed through a mixer, they go after the mixer and shut it down immediately.  This is how I was able to warn people about ChipMixer weeks before the shutdown happened.  It was very obvious...  Centralized solutions will obviously never solve the privacy problem.  People making claims otherwise do so because they're paid shills.  Period.
1169  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Campaigns in the Service Board on: December 23, 2023, 05:16:59 PM
A lot of people will give you stupid solutions to kick the can down the road a bit, but in all honesty this is just a problem with Bitcoin and the draconian leadership that got us here.  We allowed the network to be capped and a patented solution from a private company pushed as the answer instead of allowing the blockchain to scale responsibly.  As a result, and this is the absolute truth...  Bitcoin will eventually price out every use case of it's blockchain due to it's popularity unless this is changed at some point in the future.  I've suggested a dynamic blocksize similar to difficulty adjustments, but this is obviously not the place to discuss blocksize limit solutions.
1170  Other / Archival / Re: Who is DaveF and what's his problem with me? on: December 23, 2023, 05:09:40 PM
I don't know who DaveF is or what he's done for Bitcoin or this forum either, but I did notice he's (presumably a man with the name Dave) in DefaultTrust and has also chosen to exclude my trust network.  Given that I have probably one of the most friendly trust networks on this site and have one of the longer trading histories here so you have to assume the guy makes decisions based on some weird personal feelings or emotions.  That or he's just plain a bad judge of things that happen around here.  I guess take some solace in knowing you aren't alone in your curiosity of DaveF's use of the trust system.
1171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The rate of divorce in the society on: December 23, 2023, 04:59:41 PM
I think people just introduce more problems into their lives as modern society takes care of a lot of the issues people once had to face together.  The divorce rate has been climbing as long as I've been alive and a majority of divorces are initiated by women.  Maybe this is the result of the modern woman not needing a man and so not being willing to put up with as much as earlier generations?  In any event, you are seeing a lot of regret in today's society from both women that thought they didn't want children in their 20s and 30s and from women who disfigured themselves struggling with their gender association.  Meanwhile men who dress up as women and try to take their roles are celebrated...
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Attack on Bitcoin’ Claims Circulate as Transaction Fees Climb Higher on: December 23, 2023, 04:55:48 PM
Sometimes these things do appear as an attack on Bitcoin.  You can't deny that Bitcoin's mempool being full had an effect on coins like Solana, that suddenly doubled or more in value.  It would make sense if this sort of thing were coordinated as a way to help pump their bags.  However, even if this is just an "attack" on Bitcoin, someday the real usage of the blockchain will result in this sort of backlog and higher fees.  It would be wise to start thinking about ways to prevent this from bringing Bitcoin activity to a hat anytime someone wants to try and pump their altcoin bags.
1173  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: December 23, 2023, 04:53:12 PM
I'm pretty sure I've made this point already in this thread, but if you're gambling, you're likely hoping that you hit some crazy winning streak or maybe a monster win on a slot machine to make yourself millions right?  Well, if that's your plan then you have to assume that no casino is going to let you withdraw millions of dollars without doing some sort of KYC.  So if you're gambling without KYC for whatever reason and you aren't going to be able to provide that for whatever reason, you are limiting yourself to only losing.  That isn't a winning strategy in my book.
1174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 23, 2023, 04:45:45 PM
The market really seems to want to jump up to $48K in my opinion after looking at a chart.  It seems like we're in another consolidation period just like around $40K and this is the second attempt at a breakthrough.  Will we get one final Christmas rally push to end the year above $45K?  I'd say it honestly looks more likely than not, but it's also hard to tell what will happen when everybody is off work instead of at their desks trading.  Hopefully some holiday talk around the dinner table will be enough to get some new buyers to push the market over this hurdle.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 23, 2023, 07:51:41 AM
The Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns faced off in a good one tonight. Unfortunately for the Suns Nurkic was out with an injury so they didn’t have a big presence down low.  That led to Domantas Sabonis absolutely bullying the Suns in the paint all night to help secure a 15 point victory for the Kings.
1176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 22, 2023, 04:10:40 PM
It’s hard not to take notice of altcoins absolutely ripping right now. It seems a little early in the cycle to be seeing altcoin season but here it is… I wonder if the newfound wealth these holders of alts are seeing will help be a catalyst for Bitcoin’s advance when they move profits into BTC from other cryptocurrencies.
1177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elon Musk is going to jail [x5] on: December 22, 2023, 04:06:36 PM
Anyone interested in making a bet as to whether or not Elon Musk serves time in jail by a certain date (can’t let it go on forever) feel free to reach out to me as I’d be happy to accommodate you. I’m certain these folks claiming the richest man in the world will be going to jail would love the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 22, 2023, 04:03:55 PM
Oh happy Friday. Today we get one of my favorite NBA matchups, the Sacramento Kings vs the Phoenix Suns. With the Suns still dealing with injuries the Kings are the favorites and they also have the better record. The Suns arguably have the better roster though, maybe even with their injuries, so I’m expecting a close game tonight.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 22, 2023, 06:17:07 AM
I voted Timberwolves in the poll. They got another win tonight against the Lakers.

The Wizards managed to get themselves a rare win tonight. Unfortunately the Pistons couldn’t follow them and instead dropped one to the Jazz who seemingly had half their team out for one reason or another.
1180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80!!! on: December 22, 2023, 01:13:46 AM
I am not FOMOIng but just accepted the fact that I've missed buying this on its low. It reached $90 today and who knows if it will be $100 tomorrow or by the next day.

Although I do not deny that it is also good to hold the solana in the long term for investors who believe in it, So, when that happened to SOL, it was obviously because of the evenness of their project, so that and the upcoming halving or bull run may be just a few of the possible reasons.
It's a good hold but many have missed it like me. When a network or chain is being chosen by other projects to build themselves, they are increasing in demand so as SOL.

I just can’t get on board with Solana. The network goes down too often and is so centralized for my liking. However, you can’t deny that the price isn’t on an absolute tear. It seems to be the biggest benefactor of the Bitcoin mempool issues at the moment. While I’m not on this train, I am happy for those that are.
