2001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you keep your gambling habit under control? on: February 25, 2023, 08:43:36 AM
~
How do you keep your gambling habit in check such that becoming addicted and out of control is something that never happens?

(share your strategy for others to benefit from)
These are the things that I know can help a gambler not getting addicted into gambling.

1. Self-discipline - I know many of us are saying this term, but the reality is it's very hard to apply. Many of us are saying that they have discipline, but when they are on an actual game and felt that they're winning consecutive times, they can't control themselves anymore and in the end, they will lose their money. Having discipline I believe is the best trait to have because if you have that, you know when to stop whenever you are winning of losing.

2. Sticking to your plan - I think before gambling, having a plan is a must. Plan on how much you are willing to spend on gambling, plan on what will you do if you double or triple your initial money, plan when you lose your money. Having and sticking to that plan is a good way for a gambler to not get addicted. If you plan to gamble for entertainment only then don't overspend.

There are many things to consider so that a gambler will not get addicted to gambling at all.
2002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 years ago Theymos sold 160btc at $0.003 per 1, lowest price ever recorded on: February 25, 2023, 08:09:25 AM
Even Theymos sold his bitcoins at the time, which means no one knows what the future holds, what bitcoin has achieved today is truly amazing. It's funny when many people say that if they had known about bitcoin earlier, they would have invested and kept it till now.
Kind of funny TBH, but even those early adopters at that time didn't know what is the future of Bitcoin thus, they sold some of them for sure.

I would not hold it either if I'm one of the early adopters of that time of Bitcoin. Bitcoin at it's early stage is almost the same as any other new projects today. No one can trust it at all, if they see the coin pumped, they will sold it immediately and they have no guts to hold it for a very long time. Even theymos can't hold it at that time thus, he sold it as well. Cheesy

It's good that there are some educational videos from Youtube right now, and documentaries online that can convince and attract people towards investing in Cryptocurrency. In that way, more people will buy it. Those who trusted it at that time and still holding until now (or at least sold at it's peak or near to it) are the ones who profited the most, and the ones who sold it earlier are probably regretting just a little bit with their decisions.
2003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 25, 2023, 07:27:31 AM
The Clippers vs Kings game has now entered double overtime.

Clippers bettors should be happy now because there's still a chance that the spread will be covered. Good luck, guys! I'm enjoying the game so far. It looks like the Kings are for real, and they are a threat in the West with the way they are playing.

Edit : kings won by 1 point. Final score is 176-175.

A little trivia, this game is the 2nd highest scoring in the NBA history, the highest is 186–184 last December 13, 1983.
see full details here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-scoring_NBA_games
What did we just saw just a few minutes ago?
We just watched a game for the ages. Cheesy I mean the league now is focusing more on offense, but in my whole time watching NBA games, it's my first time to see both teams having that high score.

To add to your trivia that you said, this is the first time the Clippers had a double overtime since February 13, 2020. I want the game to go to triple overtime since the Clippers don't have a game where it went to a triple overtime, but as I watch the players, I can feel the fatigue to all of them both physical and mental.

Westbrook got fouled out, but he got 14 assists on that game. That 14 assists is tied for the record for most assists in their debut game with the Clippers. I have nothing to say, but that game is a game for the ages. We will see a game like that after years again.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 25, 2023, 06:58:22 AM
By the way, PBA will resume today we have 2 games.

1st game Bossing vs Northport
2nd game  NLEX vs Rain or Shine.
These are the odds for both games:

With that odds, I guess the NLEX-ROS has the most attractive odds currently. I don't see Blackwater winning against NorthPort as well, but the odds aren't that attractive. On the 2nd game, both teams lost in their previous games. With the inconsistency of the NLEX's import, I'm thinking that the ROS has a chance to beat them. NLEX only won 1 of their last 4 games since they changed their import, and that win is a close one and they almost lost as well. If you want to make a bit of a risk, you might want to bet on the ROS on this one. Cheesy.

Good luck to us bettors. Smiley
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 25, 2023, 04:56:32 AM
Atlanta Hawks VS Cleveland Cavaliers

The stake odds for this game are 1.90 for the Hawks and 1.95 for the Cavaliers, Right now John Collins can not play for the Hawks because of a Concussion while Cedi Osman is doubtful if he's going to play, for this game last game this two teams played was back on November 22, and the Cavaliers won the game and both teams don't change so much because of the trades so my pick will be the underdog Cleveland Cavaliers,

Chicago Bulls VS Brooklyn Nets

The stake odds for this game are 1.78 for the Bulls and 2.09 for the Nets, right now Lonzo Ball is out of the season, and Goran Dragic and Javonte Green can not play because of their injuries, while Ben Simmons is doubtful if they can play for the team, for this game after Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant Leave the team it is up to Cameron Thomas to lead it, but it was not enough because even though he is scoring 40 points per game he needs to make a team play and making chemistry with the team and because he is not a solo team, for me I am going with the Chicago Bulls,
I don't know if it's only me, but I was surprised to see when I'm browsing the scores in the official NBA website.

At one point, the Hawks lead as many as 30+ points against the Cavaliers while the Nets are down more than 40 points against the Bulls. I mean the Cavaliers are one of the top teams while the Nets are still a great team with their new roster, and it's understandable if they will lose in tonight's game, but to lost and having your opponent lead as high as 25 or even 30 is something that I'm surprised (until now). As for the Bulls, it seems like we're seeing the effect of Pat Bev on the court. TBH, I see him as a good leader on the court and I saw it when he's in the Timberwolves. He just can't do it on the Lakers because they have Lebron as their leader. Pat Bev effect?? Cheesy

Milwaukee Bucks VS Miami Heat

The stake odds for this game are 1.50 for the Bucks and 2.70 for the Heat, Right now Pat Connaughton and Wesley Matthews can not play for the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo is doubtful if he's going to play, for the game today, while Nikola Jovic, Omer Yurtseven, and Kyle Lowry all can not play because of injuries, so for this game now if Giannis Antetokounmpo can not play for this game and the Heat now has Kevin Love, but surely that hasn't changed a thing my pick will be the Milwaukee Bucks,
Giannis only played for 6 mins because of his right hand injury, but still they manage to win against the Heat by almost 30 points.

This is what's good with the Bucks. They're very balanced that even their one superstar player is out, they still have players that can step up offensively and take the game. This time, all of them contributed on offense as 6 players are in double digits. It's good to see Crowder back as well scoring 9 points. 3/3 for you so far. Let's watch the Kings vs. Clippers. Smiley
2006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 24, 2023, 02:03:49 PM
~

The thing is that it's beyond their control, if ever the win their 23 games but other teams too win that much specially in the bunch of 8-11 spot then they will still be log jam.

So for now they shouldn't have that kind of mentality, I mean get as much wins as they can because that's the only factors they can control. And after that let's see where they at after the regular season. They started it already with a win against the GSW in their homecourt.
Well, that's true. Like Lebron said, "It's 23 of the most important games of my career, for regular season."
Just getting wins must be their main priority and they did it already against the Warriors a while ago. Too unfortunate though that Russell got injured.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks have won a game. They shared the ball well, so the production was impressive. Luka scored 28 points and Irving had 23, making for a good combo, and the overall shooting of the team was also impressive, at 56%.

Although the spread was high, they still managed to cover it, so congratulations also to the bettors.
They won against one of the worst team, but still a win is a win. On the other hand, it wasn't impressive at least for most because it wasn't against a top team.
Their next 5 games aren't that hard TBH. 2 of the 3 are against top teams in Philly and Phoenix while the other 3 is against the Lakers, Indiana and the Jazz. The offense of the Mavericks is distributed. 8 players in double digits.

By the way, we will witness Westbrook tomorrow on his debut with the Clippers.

https://www.si.com/nba/clippers/news/russell-westbrooks-debut-game-with-clippers-officially-revealed
It will be against the Kings on Crypto.com Arena.
For sure, many including me are waiting for how will Westbrook play now that he will be playing on another Los Angeles team now. I'm excited and so are the fans for sure. Though this is only 1 game, we might see a glimpse on how impactful he will be for the Clippers team. We can make some assumptions base on this game so let's watch. Smiley
2007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 24, 2023, 01:37:07 PM
Are you guys watching the Philippines vs Lebanon game now? It's a great game for the Philippines; they are leading by double digits already, and I really like this lineup. There's no need for Brownlee to carry the team because his teammates have international experience and can really help the team get better. The defense and ball movement are impressive so far. If they can maintain a 20-point lead in the first half, it will be hard for Lebanon to come back in the second half, in my opinion.

By the way, the spread before the game was -7.5, so looking at the game now, it will easily be covered.
Our Gilas Pilipinas team got their revenge against the Lebanese 107-96.

The lead went up as high as 20+, but the Cedars manage to chip away some of them at the final minutes of the game. I was hoping that the Arena will at least be filled with audiences, or at least the bottom chairs, but it didn't happen. Anyway, good win for the team and a good revenge win for them.

A good debut game for the youngest player of the team Mason Amos as he scored 13 points, got 3 3-pointers, and didn't miss a single shot. The Gilas Pilipinas team tallied 17 3-pointers, tied for most in a single World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers game alongside Japan, Australia, and Kazakhstan, and they got 31 assists as well. Looks like the small ball team works. Their next game will be against Jordan. Too unfortunate for me that I didn't put any bet on this game.
2008  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your bitter-sweet experience in trading that you can't get over. on: February 24, 2023, 08:39:49 AM
What are those bad and good experiences you've had ever since you started trading?

Verge X Pornhub partnership.

That was way back 2018, and it's my first time to try trading. I still remember XVG or Verge coin developers telling to the public that they will be partnered with a popular company or website or whatever it is. At that time, the price of Verge started to pump already because of this rumors. I admit I got FOMO'ed at this time since I was a newbie in trading at that time. I bought at near it's peak and when they announced the company that they will be partnering with, the price of XVG dumped immediately and me? I lost half of my money just because of that mistake.

After that, I immediately withdrew all of my Bitcoin, and just held it (until now I'm still holding it Cheesy). I made a mistake from that one, but the good thing is that I learned from that. Well, you will not learn if you didn't experienced it right? Smiley I just hope nobody will do the same thing that I did especially for those newbies out there.
2009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy BNB now? on: February 24, 2023, 08:26:16 AM
Don't buy it!!!!
It came from me. An average joe who don't know anything about investing. A newbie investors who's just throwing advices to other people.

Will you take my advice? Will you agree with what I said and decide based on that? Probably not right? Because you're the only one who can decide for you. We can say that you must buy BNB because it has a good future, but are you ready for the risk? I've also heard people here saying to buy LUNA before the glitch happen. I've seen people here telling to buy FTX as well before that fraud happen. Now what happened to those 2? Can we blame those people? You're the one who will decide whether you will buy it or not. Don't ask us.

Good luck with your investing journey.
2010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 24, 2023, 07:47:42 AM
Made a couple bucks on the Celtics/Mavs/Lakers wins tonight. I think going forward the Lakers are going to be a good bet this season. Anthony Davis and LeBron have both said how important making the playoffs is to them. LeBron had an off night tonight though. 13 points on 25% shooting. Probably one of his worst games of the season.
And I just hope that D'Lo will be back soon because he suffered a right ankle sprain on that game against the Warriors.

Both AD and Lebron had a "OK" night, but the good thing is that they have pieces who can step up anytime if needed and they've shown it tonight. Beasly with 25, Mo Bamba with 12 & 13, Hachimura with 14. These newly acquired Lakers are stepping up, and maybe lets give credits to Rob Pelinka for making some good trades after making some bad ones in the past. Still, the Lakers are in the 13th seed, but only 4 games away from the 5th seed. Lebron and AD must be healthy or in short, all of the players must be healthy to have a chance. A 3-game losing streak might be a huge to their playoff run.

On the other hand, the Warriors are now below .500 with that loss, and they are playing very well on their home (in fact one of the best records on home with 22-7), but the are playing very awful on the road (7-23 record). Their defense again is the main problem as to why they are losing. Can't wait for GPII and Curry to come back soon.
2011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yield Farming -- Is it still a thing? on: February 24, 2023, 03:04:37 AM
A couple of years ago, yield farming was the next big thing, but I no longer see it mentioned anywhere. What happened to it? Did the players lose all of their money and slink back into the darkness?

I guess the fact that we are in the bear market last year affected the popularity not just Yield Farming, but also staking because both of them are kind of similar, but wasn't being talked too much or mentioned or the internet.

Anyway, I think it's still a thing, but not as big as it was a few years ago where investors are putting all of their money in these DeFi platforms despite the risk of them losing their money, and just literally wait for their profit. Maybe in the next bull run, it might become popular again, but who knows.

I, personally didn't try to do Yield Farming (because of the risk of it, and don't have funds for it) though I taught of investing on top DeFi platforms at the time where it was at his peak.
2012  Economy / Speculation / Re: If history repeats itself: 2023 vs 2019 on: February 24, 2023, 02:42:58 AM
As a believe of the 4-year cycle, I believe that what happened in 2019 might happen again this year.

On the other hand, I don't think that it will reach that $50,000 price this year. It's possible still, but the chances of it are low (at least for me). It might reach that price next year.

Well, we are in a situation where the crypto market is performing better compare to where it was last year which is a sign of relief. What's good now is that, we are seeing Bitcoin signs of upward movement though it can't pass the $25,000 resistance as of this moment. We might see different price movements right now compare to where it was 4 years ago, but if we will look at the longer timeline, the pattern is still the same. Bear market-Sideways movement-Bitcoin halving-Bull Market.
2013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is your reason for gifting bitcoin on: February 24, 2023, 02:22:50 AM
If $300 worth of bitcoin is given to someone who doesn't have a job and have been looking for opportunity to invest in bitcoin.  Will it be possible for the person to focus on this investment without selling at the moment because of the present financial situation. I'm asking this question because of people who wish to gift bitcoin to people who are going through difficult financial challenge,  is there any need to give bitcoin as gift to people who need money to settle urgent financial problems.

Or bitcoin should only be given to those who can truly invest and yield profits.  Can you gift bitcoin to random people who may not make profit from it.
There's nothing wrong in helping others. In this case, you want to give Bitcoin to somebody that doesn't have a job and want to use Bitcoin to settle their financial problems right? It's good, but there's a better option for that and it's kind off contradicting that you said on your first sentence that "someone want to invest into Bitcoin" while in the final sentence, you said that someone will use Bitcoin "to settle urgent financial matters". Which is which?

If you will giving that $300 worth of Bitcoin to somebody and decided to hold it then good, but if you will give $300 worth of Bitcoin to somebody and then he will just use it for financial problems then it might be better if you will just give him straight cash. No hassle of converting and cashing out etc.

Bitcoin can be given to anyone without any discrimination whatsoever. You can give Bitcoin to a beggar on the side of the street waiting for anybody to give them money. You can give it to your children if you wanted to. Why hand-pick somebody? It will now depend on the receiver if how will he use that Bitcoin. Will he convert that Bitcoin and buy some stuff? Will he hold it and take profit a few years from now?
2014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 24, 2023, 01:32:24 AM
Maybe it's time for that Westbrook "thing-y" to move on I guess?
I just want to ask a question regarding the Westbrook's previous team, the Lakers.

With only 23 games remaining, and with their better roster now compare to where it was before trade deadline, do you think that the Lakers will clinch the playoffs this regular season? What is the ceiling for this new Lakers roster this season?

I mean they have a chance. They are on the 13th seed right now, but the are only 5 games behind the 4th seeded Clippers. That's how tight the Western Conference right now. This is the tightest competition that I've ever seen in the Western Conference.  For me, I see them clinching to a play-in spot and the highest that they might probably get is the 8th seed.
2015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 23, 2023, 02:10:58 PM
LOL! Do people really believe that the Clippers will not benefit from acquiring Westbrook, and instead will struggle?

The odds should increase, not decline, but from what we are seeing, it seems like the bettors do not appreciate the decision of the Clippers to acquire Westbrook. Well, it's too early to conclude just yet. Let him play first, and then we will decide. As for me, I have a feeling that Westbrook will not be criticized with the Clippers; the opposite may happen.
If he will be a good fit for the Clippers, and he will perform better than what he was when he's in the Lakers, that odds will change that's for sure.

After his awful performance with the Clippers, bettors sees Westbrook a burden more than a benefit for the team. Let his performance when he come back do the talking. I myself doesn't have any high expectation for him as well even though many are saying that there's a chemistry between him and PG13 back when they are in the Thunder. That's a different story, and now they are on a different team already.

As for me, I still want Westbrook to be in the league for a couple of years or even more, so this is his opportunity. His chance to get back after him being bombarded with criticisms and bashes back when he's still a Laker. Him as their starter is a good idea still. Russ, Mann, PG13, Kawhi and Zubac? Just looking at it, they're really a good starting 5 if you will ask me.
2016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 23, 2023, 01:20:08 PM
I believe NLEX and Meralco are sister teams, which is why we call them "Sagip Kapamilya" again. TNT did not give that to them, but it was NLEX who gave it to them after a huge win.
Ohhhhh that "Sagip Kapamilya" term again. Can we just at least this time not use that term, and just think that the Bolts really deserve the victory. Smiley Can we?  Wink

I mean they really deserve it. The import of NLEX is very inconsistent on that game and that's a complete opposite to how McDaniels played. Now the Road Warriors lose 3 of their last 4 games. I wonder if Coach Frankie Lim is considering an import change especially now that they only have a few games left before the playoffs.

It's unfortunate that Converge was not able to cover the spread as they only won by 8 points. If it were a high-scoring game, then there might have been a better chance of the spread being covered. The first half was indeed low-scoring. Unfortunately, I had internet problems, and I was not able to take the over 182.5 live, even though I already knew that they were going to shoot well in the second half.

I didn't finish watching the game, but I believe Maverick Ahanmisi was the player of the game because he was the top scorer, producing 31 points in this specific game. He actually made 7 three-point shots, which gave their team a good lead going forward.
Their import Franklin had a bad night scoring only 19 points with 6/16 from the field, but got 15 rebounds. It's the locals who stepped up massively to get the victory after their defeat against the Road Warriors.

The FiberXers would have easily cover the spread if their import is having a good night, but not unfortunately. After scoring 50+ points in their last game, he scored 19 points only. Anyway, we've seen Ahamnisi played well on their first 2 games I think, but his performance went down in the succeeding games. Why he didn't picked in the All-Star game?  Huh

Anyway, I will just share here that the Final 12 of Gilas Pilipinas for the Final Leg of the FIBA qualifiers has been selected already. Here are the players:
Quote
Dwight Ramos, Jordan Heading, Scottie Thompson, Kiefer Ravena, Thirdy Ravena, CJ Perez, Bobby Ray Parks, Calvin Oftana, Jamie Malonzo, Mason Amos, June Mar Fajardo, Justin Brownlee
That is the final list of the players that will face Lebanon and Jordan on the 24th and 27th of February. Any thoughts? It's my first time to see that Mason Amos, but he's a 6'7" guy and a young big, and can shoot threes as well.
2017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there age limits to Bitcoin investment? on: February 23, 2023, 12:36:29 PM
No, but kids should be guided by their parents when it comes to their investment especially with Bitcoin because we know how risky it is.

Right now, I'm saving a small amount of Bitcoin for the future (of my child). I already promised to myself that I will gradually teach him/her things regarding finance as he grows up, so that when he/she becomes an adult or at least a teenager, he/she is equipped with knowledge already that is related to finance and at that time investing as well.

Kids as far as I know can be taught at least how to save their money and as they grow up, somebody must teach them more about finance and investing.

The 5th and the 1st are what made me laugh while reading this whole article.

TBH, the title is a bit "clickbait-y" because as a gambler, you will be more curious as to how you can win on a casino. At the time you will read the whole article, you will find yourself smiling and laughing at the same time because the ways that OP just shared are just hilarious. I just can't believe that there are people who have the guts to do these especially the 5th and 1st.

While reading number one, I'm thinking it is like the famous series "Money Heist" where both just robbed the place. The only difference is that the perpetrator on that article has no plans at all, and he just pulled the gun.
2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is currently the best crypto to invest in? on: February 23, 2023, 07:23:25 AM
Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Yes there are many altcoins out there that you can invest your money with, but Bitcoin and Ethereum are the 2 top coins in terms of market cap, the 2 most trusted coins. I don't know if this is applicable for both of them, but they're like the blue chips in the crypto market since they are at the top for a long time.

Overall, sometimes it depends on the investors themselves. Are they ready to take the risk? Will they not panic if the worst thing happens with the coins they bought? Are you not affected if your coin goes down massively? How much are risk are you willing to take? Are you a conservative or an aggressive investor? Some of the question that an investor must answer first. If you're an aggressive one then maybe try those coins below top 50 or even those new projects out there. Now if you're a semi-conservative then just go with the coins that are at the top 10 in terms of market cap. If you're conservative then go Bitcoin only.

Just take note that the higher the risk, the higher the reward and vice-versa.

WE NEED ELON MUSK!!!!!!
We need him so that we see DOGE's price hit a dollar.

Kidding aside, his support, continues tweets on Twitter a few years ago is the main reason why DOGE has hit an ATH at that time and after that, it's a series of downtrend movement only.

DOGE is an inflationary coin that has no significant use-case at all. Ethereum is an inflationary coin, but it is a smart contract platform that's why many are using it. DOGE on the other hand, has no use case aside from it being a tipping coin. Now will DOGE hit a dollar? Possible, but what are the chances of it? Very low knowing that it's supply is unlimited with limited to no use-case at all, I doubt that it will reach a dollar.

Why DOGE OP? Isn't it because of your username? Are you at a loss right now holding DOGE?
