2021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 23, 2023, 06:19:17 AM

Yeah, it was pretty bad...not just the All-Star game but all the other events. Not sure they can save it at this point, the viewer's numbers and general interest is at an all-time low (pun intended) as you can see down below:

source: https://twitter.com/TheNBACentral/status/1628415672584663045
Quote
Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game was the lowest rated and least-watched edition of the game, per @paulsen_smw

• Ratings declined 29% and viewership 27% from last year’s All-Star Game

• The record-low audience places the NBA All-Star Game well behind this year’s NFL Pro Bowl

• This year’s declines are the steepest for the game since 2000

The irony is that the only player who really wanted to be there and compete was Mac McClung, a G-leaguer (well now with the 76ers but you get my point). He was actually the only bet i had the entire weekend.
After that All-Star game, I hope that Commissioner Adam Silver will change something with regards to it.

I mean I also watched some old school All-star games on Facebook (since there are some who re-uploaded it), and I just love how All-Star players are competing at that time. What I watched was an All-star game where Kobe (RIP) was there, and we know how competitive Kobe is right? If he's still alive right now and got a chance to watch that All-star game, expect some negative comments coming from him. No defense whatsoever. They are just letting their opponents shoot instead of defending them. They only defended in the final quarter,  but you can't tell it as a defense as well.

That All-star game is one of the worse I've ever watched, and I believe some will agree with me especially those who watched the old All-star games. Hope there will be a chance in the next All-star game in Indianapolis.
2022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 23, 2023, 03:52:18 AM
~

I wouldn't call Westbrook as a superstar now, although he would be useful in most teams he's not even in All-Star level anymore.

According to @betonline_ag, the LA Clippers' championship odds got WORSE after the addition of Russell Westbrook.

https://twitter.com/TomerAzarly/status/1627784796759007234

That looks harsh. I think he will be a good addition to the Clippers. I don't think they are better than Denver or Memphis in the West anyway, with or without Westbrook.
It seems like how he played in the Lakers really had an effect on to which team he will land, eh? Cheesy
Many believe that he will be a burden to the team that will sign him thus, the odds got worse. Too harsh indeed, but that's how bettors see him. A burden to a team.

Anyway, many "analysts" are thinking that he will be a good fit for the team. Well, on paper he is, but the question is how he be fit for a team that's really good already even without him. Compare to Denver, they are miles away from them, but against Memphis, they have a shot TBH. The Grizzlies aren't playing well on their last games and that might continue in the remaining games. Anyway, I think Westbrook knows that this is his only opportunity to redeem himself, so he will not waste it.

I hope that Coach Ty Lue already said to Westbrook that you must not shoot the ball, and just focus on assisting and playmaking.

What kind of strategy is that? WB is not Ben Simmons. He is still good for 15 Points, 6 rebounds per game. He is not afraid to shoot and that is a good thing. He is still 41 FG%. Clippers have a good roster of shooters and that will open up the lane for WB to drive hard into the basket, which is his bread and butter. Maybe he can take less 3's since there are other outside shooters in the Clippers but WB is still good for perimeter shots.
Nope I'm not saying that Westbrook = Simmons, and do you think Westbrook will not shoot the ball?
Yes he will because he knows that he can shoot. Only the haters think that he can't. I know that he can shoot the ball as well. It's just that, he is better when he focuses more on playmaking, and passing rather than being more offensive, and make shots.
2023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 23, 2023, 03:32:21 AM
Now, Magnolia is positioned to where they are expected to be in the standings and their next three games will be against a low tier team and if they could win that one then it is expected that they will be on the top 4 of the standings. Last night's game was a disappointment for me as i thought that ROS would fight back knowing how competitive coach Yeng was but Magnolia's locals were just too much to handle for the boys of coach Yeng.
I looked on their remaining 4 games, and it seems like they really are in a good spot, and the best case scenario is that they might finish the regular season with a winning streak. However, we are seeing NLEX Vs. Meralco later.

If Meralco somehow come up with a victory against NLEX, that might boost the morale and momentum of the team thus, winning their next game against the Hotshots. It's a low percentage change though, but it can still happen. Their last 3 games are against teams who are in the bottom spot already and has little to no chance of clinching the playoffs. TBH, they might end up at the top 3-4 seed depending on how the top teams perform.

Bolts vs NLEX

^^ is a good game and very catchy because if we look at the standings, NLEX is ahead but they are 1 out of 3 since Simmons left so i'll be betting for here for the Bolts since they badly need the win to at least improve their standings, Bolts -1.5 @1.87 vs NLEX
I went for NLEX on this one both ML and spread.

Yes, they are only 1 win with Selden as their import, but that win is against the Converge who is considered at the top right now. For me, that win might give momentum for the whole team. I watched that game, and I saw how Selden adjusted, and now he is playing well defending the paint and had blocks. I'm pretty sure that he will do it again this time. Different bets for both of us, but lets just enjoy watching the game later. Smiley
2024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 22, 2023, 02:15:53 PM
2/2 to my PBA bets tonight. Cheesy My first day without any losses after having consecutive losses.
The first game, I bet under 230.5 and I won. Second game, I went all in with Magnolia Hotshots with 1.46 Odds. Even though it's a low odds, I believe that they will win on that game against the ROS.

I didn't watch the whole first game, but congratulations to the NorthPort Batang Pier for getting their first win. What I watched was the second game where the Hotshots just dominated the whole game. They got the double digit lead in the first quarter and even though the ROS are making small runs, the Hotshots are countering it with their own runs.

What's also good with the Hotshots is that, the burden around their import isn't that much in terms of offense because our locals stepped up, distributed the points, and it's hard to stop a team when the offense is just spread. Hester only shot 6/16 on the field, but Lee, Jalalon, Barroca and even their bench player Escoto stepped up scoring double digits each in their 4th straight win.

With that, the Hotshots are in the 6th spot after being at the bottom because of their 3 straight losses in the beginning of the season. Hope all won on their bets as well. Smiley
2025  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading season? on: February 22, 2023, 08:30:23 AM
I was kind of confused little about something, after someone walked on to me and was telling me that in trading, there are seasons when you profit from it (lucky days) and when but when I asked for an explanation, he didn't give a clear explanation, so I had to bring it up here to know if there are truly seasons of profits in trading and how can I identify such seasons?
Season? What does he mean seasons? Like Winter season or Summer season like that?
I don't know there is a "season" where you can get profits from trading and at the same time, a "season" where you can lose money as well.

Base on my understanding, anytime you can be profitable and you aren't. Today you might doubled your money and the next day you might lose it all. Maybe your friend is thinking that season = lucky days, but both can't be connected, and he can just say that "you have times where you will be lucky and times where you aren't". Why using the word season? Cheesy

You're a professional trader? You earn money in trading. You're a good trader? You might earn in trading. You aren't good in trading? You will lose all of your money. No seasons whatsoever.
2026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 22, 2023, 07:43:29 AM
Sorry if I'm a bit curious about this, but I just want to ask a question.

Did anybody here really tried to use AI (like ChatGPT, or any other) to predict the outcomes of certain sport? Is anybody here who are relying on AI predictions on sports? Like in Basketball, or Football or even in Boxing. A follow-up question. If yes, what is the accuracy of it? How many of those prediction are right?

My apologies about my curiosity, but I just want to know since I'm also involved into gambling (just recently).

I tried asking ChatGPT on this, but it won't answer as it is just a model, but you can analyze things like Garcia's previous wins, score boards, and anything else. It won't really tell your prediction, but you can gather data and compare both. meaning it is just giving you information, and you are the one who decides which to bet on or your prediction. But if this were utilized or optimized for gambling, then for sure it would be helpful, but for now, this kind of information is being censored by them.
In short, ChatGPT only gives information that is also searchable in the internet right? It works like an aggregator of data that will help the gambler choose, eh?

If that's the case then it's still a big help for the bettors, but you can't rely on the bot as to which one you will predict. Stats don't like and numbers can really help a gambler into which team or player will he put his bet with. I mean I'm using statistics when I'm betting on basketball (even though I'm losing consecutive times Cheesy).

Overall, maybe we can conclude that ChatGPT can't really make predictions to us gamblers right? Or there is somebody who will try and make ChatGPT predict on different sports. Cheesy
2027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's second biggest weekly gain happened yesterday on: February 22, 2023, 07:30:25 AM
~
What do you guys think? Is this Whale manipulation or Bear market is over and we might see a new ATH by end of this year?
None of what you said.

Ok the market is up 11%. Is there any significant thing to that? I mean is it the first time we saw Bitcoin go up that price in a week? We've seen more Bitcoin's price increased way higher than that in the past months to years. Why does people have think of market manipulation or bear market is over or whatever it is if the market just went up 11% for a "WEEK". Remember it's a week not a day. We've seen Bitcoin going up more than 11% for a single day only, and yet there are people who are thinking negatively just because of what happened this week. Cheesy Amazing!!!

Well, Bitcoin failed to surpass the $25,000 price again, and now sitting at the $24,000 range (nearly going below $24,000). Nothing new with regards to it's recent price movement. Just a regular price spike that's all. Don't think too much from it like it didn't happen in the past.
2028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 22, 2023, 07:19:35 AM

I do not like it either. I think Mann is really doing good lately and he deserves to start with the Clippers. But I think WB role in the team was discussed during his meeting with Kawhi and PG. So, if they have agreed that WB will start, then that would be it. Hopefully, it will be a good decision.

It could not be a great decision for the Los Angeles Clippers to get a near-retiring Russell WestBrick, but right now I am seeing WestBrick making a great assisting play even though he is not scoring that much if Kawhi and Paul George have spoken his role for the Clippers then I think it is already settled and Russell WestBrick will surely debut for the LA Clippers on Friday,

This is Westbrook's last chance in redeeming himself and his NBA career. If he fails to deliver and help the Clippers and be a burden to a team, it might be the beginning of the end for his NBA career.

Forget about scoring if it's for Westbrook. The dude can't even shoot the ball. That's why he called Westbrick because he can't shoot the ball. Let the scoring be done by other players. They have Kawhi, PG13, Mann, Gordon, and some bigs as well that. I would love to see Westbrook to be a better player now that he's on a different team already. I'm a bit disappointed on how his career went down from the main star of the Thunder, to the 2nd best player in the Wizards, and he went to the Lakers, he's just an average player and worse, he became a bench player.

I hope that Coach Ty Lue already said to Westbrook that you must not shoot the ball, and just focus on assisting and playmaking.
2029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin and no downtime till now in 11 years on: February 22, 2023, 02:48:01 AM
One of the top coins that hasn't been discussed over the internet, or gained any popularity in the past few years.
I rarely or never heard about Litecoin for the past few years and yet, it is still running.

Being called as the copycat of Bitcoin, Litecoin hasn't have any huge developments from their project, but the fact that it hasn't face any problems as well is a good achievement already. I mean I had held Bitcoin a few years ago, but sold it. Maybe the fact that most of the exchanges are accepting Litecoin is one reason why it's still there on the top. Even though it slowly move out of the top 10 in terms of market cap, I'm thinking of Litecoin still as a good mid to long term coin to hold. The fact that it is also a POW coin is another reason why it's still on the top.

Either way, even though it hasn't been that popular already, many are still accepting it. It still has a fast transaction speed though with 2.5 minutes per block.
2030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen once Hong Kong legalizes bitcoin? on: February 22, 2023, 02:29:54 AM
I don't know if there is another article related to this, but this what I saw:
https://dailycoin.com/bitcoin-surges-12-to-8-month-high-with-hong-kong-set-to-legalize/

Quote
In actualizing this plan, Hong Kong will officially legalize crypto buying, selling, and trading for all its citizens by June of this year. The city is already developing a robust regulatory framework, which could see it take the lead in crypto adoption.

HongKong is related to China, and it's said on that article that expect a huge influx of money coming from the Chinese people. Well, I guess this is what will happen. Expect more money coming into the crypto market. This news alone already made Bitcoin's price go up again, but unfortunately it can't surpass still the $25,000 price resistance.
2031  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: MIR4 NFT game? on: February 22, 2023, 02:25:10 AM

2032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 22, 2023, 01:45:04 AM

I don't like how the PBA All-Star draft turned out. Seems to me that they lack bringing new ideas to that event.

Copying the style of the NBA All-Star draft, PBA should at least stick to the system they are using since then.

Even the tossed coin is like a Brgy. level system lol. Hopefully, though that the All-Star game will be entertaining and not turn into a shooting spree with no defense. Playing hard is what fans like as it was more entertaining to watch.

This "basketball" game is so American that whatever style the NBA implements, the PBA will always copy, no doubt about that and this All-Star will be no different hehe.

Gone are the days when people/fans will go out and support the All-Star games as they want to see high-level basketball as those are All-Stars playing but it would turn out to be a comedy of some sort, hardcore basketball fans won't buy that including me.

ROS +10.5 @1.94 vs Hotshots

Though that chance of an upset is next to none but knowing how competitive coach Yeng Guiao, i think this game will not be a blow-out.
Well you already said they copy NBA, I will not be surprised if this All-Star game will turn out to be a shooting spree like what happened in the NBA All-star game a few days ago. Cheesy

TBH, I will not watch this All-Star game. I don't even know when it will be, and I don't want to even know. I mean it's very disappointing. The format of how they pick their players is just very unfair especially for those who are in independent teams. Anyway, just move on, move forward, and still I will not watch it. Can I ask, is there any contests that will happen there aside from the All-Star game? Like a 3-pt contest or something?

ROS played their last game without their import for some unknown reasons. Now if ROS will play again without any import, that +10.5 might not get covered still. The import of Magnolia is just amazing. His body is kind off big, but his footwork is like the same as the footwork of Manuel or at least on par with him. He's great, and with that many shooters of Magnolia, they might just crush the ROS if they will play without an import. Well, it's a different story if there is an import.
2033  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 22, 2023, 01:07:55 AM
I think another Los Angeles team getting WB is already a slap for the Lakers, much more they are more of a contender that them.

But the problem is that Clippers is already loaded with talents, and it's funny to think that WB's once team, Reggie Jackson on OKC was once a Clipper and now he will replace him in somewhat in that position.

Not sure how he can spread the floor though, WB is know for his passing ability and not his outside shot.
More of a slap I guess, but it might be a win-win situation for both LA teams.
The Lakers got rid of the player who technically ruined the whole roster because of how many players the Lakers traded just to get him and on the other hand, the Clippers got a facilitator, an athletic guard who can be a good point guard still.

Clippers are already loaded with talents I agree because they have Kawhi, PG13, and an emerging big in Zubac, but the risk that the Clippers gave is minimal. I mean if Westbrook will not be a good fit for the team, they can just bench him and give lesser minutes and there's no burden with the team whatsoever because the Clippers are already good even without him. It's a win-win for both Clippers and Russ. The Clippers might got a very good facilitator and on the other hand, Russ has another chance to redeem himself "again" because he will (as per Woj) be a starter when he plays on a Clippers uniform.

So the Chicago Bulls signed Patrick Beverly..and my only question about this is pretty simple...WHY?  I really don't understand that current state of my beloved Chicago Bulls.  It just doesn't seem like anything that they're doing lately is making any sense.  I was all in on Arturus when they hired him to be President of baskeball operations, and god knows anything would be better than Gar/Pax...but I just don't see his vision what so ever right now.  Again Patrick Beverly, no freaking thanks.
They simply needed it.

I look at their roster, and I don't see any players there who is an elite defender (probably because they aren't popular). His energy inside the court might affect the whole team because looking at their last game against the Bucks, it seems like they are lacking of energy. Add also the fact that Ball will not play the remainder of the season because of the injury that he got before the season starts, they need at least a ball handler and Beverley can do it though isn't that good at it. Still a good pick by the Bulls for me.
2034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 21, 2023, 12:01:55 PM
~
Let's revise that question. Do you think they will post what they feel, and seek help if obviously they aren't in need of some help??
I mean gamblers will post here, make some fairy tale stories and will seek for help because they obviously need it. They will not post here if they don't need it aren't they?

Anyway, to answer your question, I believe the reason is that they want to release their feelings to others, and one way for them is forums. Releasing your feelings with others regarding your problems is a big help for the person because that will ease the pain that they're feeling. Well, for sure most here will give advices, but the question is will that person do it? If we said that he need professional help, will he do it and find professional help?

It makes me wonder: why do gamblers tend to wait until they have suffered a catastrophic loss or a string of losses before quitting or seeking help?
They will feel happy when they win thus, they will not quit. Who wants to quit when they know they are winning? Cheesy
They will just feel regret when they lose money. Regret is always at the end of everything. If you did something wrong, you will feel regret in the end. If you made something bad to somebody, you will feel regret in the end. Gamblers will not quit when they are winning. They will just quit when they suffered losing.
2035  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading good for beginners? on: February 21, 2023, 08:04:23 AM
Trading can be done by everyone, but it isn't for everyone.
Only those who can handle the losses, only those who can wait for them for a long time before they will be profitable.

Is trading good for beginners? Professional traders started as beginners as well right? I mean what kind of question is that. As we start trading, we are all beginners already. As you have that experience in trading, overtime you will not be a newbie anymore. Maybe change your question to "Is trading good for people who don't have knowledge at all?" That would be a better question.

Trading without any knowledge is like having a quiz without any knowledge regarding that particular topic, and you will fail miserably. If you don't want to learn first, just don't try trading at all. Even those who are trading for a very long time are experiencing losses still. Go try demo accounts in different trading platforms such as Binance since they have one. Instead of putting your money into trading, at least put your money into yourself.

Nowadays, name change became more easier, eh? Many people last year changed their name for personal reasons.

I guess this kiddo is an exception because he used his real name (which is a bit absurd), and forgot his security. Maybe it's because of his excitement to share what he has done that he forgot that he put his real name as his username. He deletes some of his posts as well. :X

If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich.
Whether Bitcoin crashes or not, I'm neither poor or rich at all. Smiley

I'll just say that I'm at the middle of it. I'm not rich like the businessmen here, or a millionaire, but at the same time, I'm not like the beggars on the street waiting for food to come on their plastic cups that's been place in front of them. I'm still at the middle whether Bitcoin crashes or not. I'm not affected that much because I'm not all in into Bitcoin, and I will not do that. Too risky for a very risky type of investment

Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment.
That's the problem with some of the investors right now.

The thing that's on their mind is the fact that they can earn profits in a shorter amount of time compare to some traditional assets out there like the stock market that's why they went all in into Bitcoin not knowing the possible risks that they may face. For sure, there are many investors who lost their money last year because of what happened. I just hope that they're still ok and didn't do any bad decisions and remained patient.

There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage.
Too unfortunate for him I guess.

So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?
Still an Average Joe just sipping a cup of coffee in our terrace. Neither rich nor poor. Cheesy
2039  Economy / Economics / Re: Are people really having the wrong concept of savings? on: February 21, 2023, 02:30:17 AM
it seems people talk so much of savings as if one isn't supposed to use their saving even until death
~
What's your concept of savings?
I don't see it as a "wrong concept", but that's how they see savings.

As for me who is still in the mid-20's, I'm not focusing on savings that much because I'm investing more than saving, but on the other hand, I still save some money because I need a buffer. I need cash whenever emergency comes. I need to save so that if the worst time comes, I still have some cash to spend with. If the worst time comes and I don't have an income source anymore, at least I have savings that I will be using for around 3 months until I find a job.

Saving and not using it until death? I don't know why people are thinking like that. I mean unless they are saving for their future children, they must spend their savings if needed, and not save until death.
2040  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of GPT AI. Crypto is at risk? on: February 21, 2023, 02:08:09 AM
Trading bots have been used by traders for years already. AI on the other hand has been very disruptive and is being used for different situations worldwide. From making articles, to programming, to even making some research papers.

Adding AI to these trading bots might have a significant upgrade into it, but I believe there will be some flaws into it and because of it, I don't see it as a risk like other users sees it. Market manipulation is your problem? It has been happening for a long time already, and no one can stop it (at least for now). GPT AI has a long way to go. It has been there for years, but it just went popular when ChatGPT has been released. Overall, AI might be used or integrated to these trading bots, but I don't see it as a risk either. More of a benefit I guess.
