2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will happen once Hong Kong legalizes bitcoin? on: February 22, 2023, 02:29:54 AM
I don't know if there is another article related to this, but this what I saw:
https://dailycoin.com/bitcoin-surges-12-to-8-month-high-with-hong-kong-set-to-legalize/

Quote
In actualizing this plan, Hong Kong will officially legalize crypto buying, selling, and trading for all its citizens by June of this year. The city is already developing a robust regulatory framework, which could see it take the lead in crypto adoption.

HongKong is related to China, and it's said on that article that expect a huge influx of money coming from the Chinese people. Well, I guess this is what will happen. Expect more money coming into the crypto market. This news alone already made Bitcoin's price go up again, but unfortunately it can't surpass still the $25,000 price resistance.
2042  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: MIR4 NFT game? on: February 22, 2023, 02:25:10 AM

2043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 22, 2023, 01:45:04 AM

I don't like how the PBA All-Star draft turned out. Seems to me that they lack bringing new ideas to that event.

Copying the style of the NBA All-Star draft, PBA should at least stick to the system they are using since then.

Even the tossed coin is like a Brgy. level system lol. Hopefully, though that the All-Star game will be entertaining and not turn into a shooting spree with no defense. Playing hard is what fans like as it was more entertaining to watch.

This "basketball" game is so American that whatever style the NBA implements, the PBA will always copy, no doubt about that and this All-Star will be no different hehe.

Gone are the days when people/fans will go out and support the All-Star games as they want to see high-level basketball as those are All-Stars playing but it would turn out to be a comedy of some sort, hardcore basketball fans won't buy that including me.

ROS +10.5 @1.94 vs Hotshots

Though that chance of an upset is next to none but knowing how competitive coach Yeng Guiao, i think this game will not be a blow-out.
Well you already said they copy NBA, I will not be surprised if this All-Star game will turn out to be a shooting spree like what happened in the NBA All-star game a few days ago. Cheesy

TBH, I will not watch this All-Star game. I don't even know when it will be, and I don't want to even know. I mean it's very disappointing. The format of how they pick their players is just very unfair especially for those who are in independent teams. Anyway, just move on, move forward, and still I will not watch it. Can I ask, is there any contests that will happen there aside from the All-Star game? Like a 3-pt contest or something?

ROS played their last game without their import for some unknown reasons. Now if ROS will play again without any import, that +10.5 might not get covered still. The import of Magnolia is just amazing. His body is kind off big, but his footwork is like the same as the footwork of Manuel or at least on par with him. He's great, and with that many shooters of Magnolia, they might just crush the ROS if they will play without an import. Well, it's a different story if there is an import.
2044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 22, 2023, 01:07:55 AM
I think another Los Angeles team getting WB is already a slap for the Lakers, much more they are more of a contender that them.

But the problem is that Clippers is already loaded with talents, and it's funny to think that WB's once team, Reggie Jackson on OKC was once a Clipper and now he will replace him in somewhat in that position.

Not sure how he can spread the floor though, WB is know for his passing ability and not his outside shot.
More of a slap I guess, but it might be a win-win situation for both LA teams.
The Lakers got rid of the player who technically ruined the whole roster because of how many players the Lakers traded just to get him and on the other hand, the Clippers got a facilitator, an athletic guard who can be a good point guard still.

Clippers are already loaded with talents I agree because they have Kawhi, PG13, and an emerging big in Zubac, but the risk that the Clippers gave is minimal. I mean if Westbrook will not be a good fit for the team, they can just bench him and give lesser minutes and there's no burden with the team whatsoever because the Clippers are already good even without him. It's a win-win for both Clippers and Russ. The Clippers might got a very good facilitator and on the other hand, Russ has another chance to redeem himself "again" because he will (as per Woj) be a starter when he plays on a Clippers uniform.

So the Chicago Bulls signed Patrick Beverly..and my only question about this is pretty simple...WHY?  I really don't understand that current state of my beloved Chicago Bulls.  It just doesn't seem like anything that they're doing lately is making any sense.  I was all in on Arturus when they hired him to be President of baskeball operations, and god knows anything would be better than Gar/Pax...but I just don't see his vision what so ever right now.  Again Patrick Beverly, no freaking thanks.
They simply needed it.

I look at their roster, and I don't see any players there who is an elite defender (probably because they aren't popular). His energy inside the court might affect the whole team because looking at their last game against the Bucks, it seems like they are lacking of energy. Add also the fact that Ball will not play the remainder of the season because of the injury that he got before the season starts, they need at least a ball handler and Beverley can do it though isn't that good at it. Still a good pick by the Bulls for me.
2045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 21, 2023, 12:01:55 PM
~
Let's revise that question. Do you think they will post what they feel, and seek help if obviously they aren't in need of some help??
I mean gamblers will post here, make some fairy tale stories and will seek for help because they obviously need it. They will not post here if they don't need it aren't they?

Anyway, to answer your question, I believe the reason is that they want to release their feelings to others, and one way for them is forums. Releasing your feelings with others regarding your problems is a big help for the person because that will ease the pain that they're feeling. Well, for sure most here will give advices, but the question is will that person do it? If we said that he need professional help, will he do it and find professional help?

It makes me wonder: why do gamblers tend to wait until they have suffered a catastrophic loss or a string of losses before quitting or seeking help?
They will feel happy when they win thus, they will not quit. Who wants to quit when they know they are winning? Cheesy
They will just feel regret when they lose money. Regret is always at the end of everything. If you did something wrong, you will feel regret in the end. If you made something bad to somebody, you will feel regret in the end. Gamblers will not quit when they are winning. They will just quit when they suffered losing.
2046  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is trading good for beginners? on: February 21, 2023, 08:04:23 AM
Trading can be done by everyone, but it isn't for everyone.
Only those who can handle the losses, only those who can wait for them for a long time before they will be profitable.

Is trading good for beginners? Professional traders started as beginners as well right? I mean what kind of question is that. As we start trading, we are all beginners already. As you have that experience in trading, overtime you will not be a newbie anymore. Maybe change your question to "Is trading good for people who don't have knowledge at all?" That would be a better question.

Trading without any knowledge is like having a quiz without any knowledge regarding that particular topic, and you will fail miserably. If you don't want to learn first, just don't try trading at all. Even those who are trading for a very long time are experiencing losses still. Go try demo accounts in different trading platforms such as Binance since they have one. Instead of putting your money into trading, at least put your money into yourself.
2047  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie account got a username change ! First one in my eyes on: February 21, 2023, 07:21:00 AM
Is that the 16-year old kiddo who invested in Bitcoin?
Nowadays, name change became more easier, eh? Many people last year changed their name for personal reasons.

I guess this kiddo is an exception because he used his real name (which is a bit absurd), and forgot his security. Maybe it's because of his excitement to share what he has done that he forgot that he put his real name as his username. He deletes some of his posts as well. :X

Hmm… Can I change mine as well? Cheesy It's like I'm advertising the brand name for free. Cheesy
2048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 21, 2023, 07:09:21 AM
Sorry if I'm a bit curious about this, but I just want to ask a question.

Did anybody here really tried to use AI (like ChatGPT, or any other) to predict the outcomes of certain sport? Is anybody here who are relying on AI predictions on sports? Like in Basketball, or Football or even in Boxing. A follow-up question. If yes, what is the accuracy of it? How many of those prediction are right?

My apologies about my curiosity, but I just want to know since I'm also involved into gambling (just recently).
2049  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do if bitcoin crash? on: February 21, 2023, 03:05:06 AM
If bitcoin crash today, what will be your fate? Poor or rich.
Whether Bitcoin crashes or not, I'm neither poor or rich at all. Smiley

I'll just say that I'm at the middle of it. I'm not rich like the businessmen here, or a millionaire, but at the same time, I'm not like the beggars on the street waiting for food to come on their plastic cups that's been place in front of them. I'm still at the middle whether Bitcoin crashes or not. I'm not affected that much because I'm not all in into Bitcoin, and I will not do that. Too risky for a very risky type of investment

Most people on the platform have submitted all their life savings to bitcoin investment.
That's the problem with some of the investors right now.

The thing that's on their mind is the fact that they can earn profits in a shorter amount of time compare to some traditional assets out there like the stock market that's why they went all in into Bitcoin not knowing the possible risks that they may face. For sure, there are many investors who lost their money last year because of what happened. I just hope that they're still ok and didn't do any bad decisions and remained patient.

There was once a man in my area who sold his house to invest in a local platform called BARAZAR in 4 months missive the so-called BARAZAR was shoot down and now he does not have a cottage.
Too unfortunate for him I guess.

So I ask again if bitcoin crashed today what will be your description rich or poor?
Still an Average Joe just sipping a cup of coffee in our terrace. Neither rich nor poor. Cheesy
2050  Economy / Economics / Re: Are people really having the wrong concept of savings? on: February 21, 2023, 02:30:17 AM
it seems people talk so much of savings as if one isn't supposed to use their saving even until death
~
What's your concept of savings?
I don't see it as a "wrong concept", but that's how they see savings.

As for me who is still in the mid-20's, I'm not focusing on savings that much because I'm investing more than saving, but on the other hand, I still save some money because I need a buffer. I need cash whenever emergency comes. I need to save so that if the worst time comes, I still have some cash to spend with. If the worst time comes and I don't have an income source anymore, at least I have savings that I will be using for around 3 months until I find a job.

Saving and not using it until death? I don't know why people are thinking like that. I mean unless they are saving for their future children, they must spend their savings if needed, and not save until death.
2051  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of GPT AI. Crypto is at risk? on: February 21, 2023, 02:08:09 AM
Trading bots have been used by traders for years already. AI on the other hand has been very disruptive and is being used for different situations worldwide. From making articles, to programming, to even making some research papers.

Adding AI to these trading bots might have a significant upgrade into it, but I believe there will be some flaws into it and because of it, I don't see it as a risk like other users sees it. Market manipulation is your problem? It has been happening for a long time already, and no one can stop it (at least for now). GPT AI has a long way to go. It has been there for years, but it just went popular when ChatGPT has been released. Overall, AI might be used or integrated to these trading bots, but I don't see it as a risk either. More of a benefit I guess.
2052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 21, 2023, 01:38:08 AM
I’m a little bummed to hear that Kevin Love is going to sign with the Miami Heat. I’d really hoped to see him reunite with LeBron in Los Angeles or I think he would’ve been a great addition to the Warriors. I think Westbrook signing with the Clippers should be good. He’s got history with Paul George and Kawhi wanted a point guard so that seems like a decent fit.
No chance for the Lakers and reunite with Lebron. He will just be benched there since they are overloaded with wing players already.
It's good that the Heat got him because they are lacking some wing defenders on their roster. At least his height will still be a big help for an additional depth of the team.

As for Westbrook signing with the Clippers, I just don't want the fact that he might be a starting point guard of the team. Of course he is a very good pass-first player, but his shooting and decision making is what makes him worse. If this will not work well with the Clippers, they will just bench him and give limited minutes and give more minutes to Mann who is their point guard before the trade happened. One thing more, I don't like to see Westbrook, PG13 and Kawhi as their new Big 3 because Westbrook isn't a reliable player. Just the duo is fine.

That KD trade really affected all the top teams in the West that they are getting players on the buyout market that will have a positive effect with the team.
2053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 21, 2023, 01:12:40 AM

Commissioner Adam Silver was asked about the shooting spree yesterday in the All-Star game, and what he said was "It's Okay".
If this All-Star game will turn out to be a shooting spree as well just like in NBA, I expect the same or at least near to that answer.

Yes they've added a new event for the PBA aside from the 3x3 which is that PBA Esports League (correct me if I'm wrong), but they forgot to change what they need to change in the All-Star game. I'm still disappointed to the fact that players who aren't deserved to play there has a spot while those who are deserve are just watching on their homes.

Well, I expect a lot of crowd with this one at least because the venue is outside of NCR, and fans can't wait to see their idols playing in front of them.
2054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 20, 2023, 12:51:10 PM
The roster for Team Scottie and Team Japeth for the All-Star game is over just hours ago.
The 2 captains drafted for their all-star players. These are the roster of each teams.

Team Scottie - Christian Standhardinger, CJ Perez, Calvin Abueva, Robert Bolick, Arvin Tolentino, Kevin Alas, Jayson Castro, Stanley Pringle, Marcio Lassiter, Mark Barroca, James Yap

Team Japeth - June Mar Fajardo, Jamie Malonzo, Chris Newsome, RR Pogoy, LA Tenorio, Mikey Williams, Paul Lee, Jeremiah Gray, Gian Mamuyac, Nards Pinto, Terrence Romeo.

If you will look at the players of both teams, 8 players came from Ginebra, 4 came from SMB and the rest from different teams already. I don't know if some here sees the same for me, but there are some players out there who aren't qualified to be in the All-Star game. They're just there just because they came from a popular team like Ginebra. There are many better players out there from independent teams who didn't enter because they just hand-picked base on who the fans voted. Which is not fair for me. Where is Teng? Maverick Ahamnisi? Tiongson? Almazan? Even Oftana & Jalalon isn't on the list as well.

I don't want to say something about how they are picking those players for the All-Star game, but there are way better players out there who aren't picked just because they aren't popular enough. Kind of disappointing.
2055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tournament gave 25 bitcoins as prize to last places on: February 20, 2023, 12:33:26 PM
If anyone curious with the original thread of the tournament, here's the link https://tl.net/forum/bw-tournaments/190866-aov-iccup-starleague

The winners who get 5th to 8th places are Kolll, Sziky, Heme and DeSka, those 25 Bitcoins are worth for $41.75 which is make sense 25 Bitcoins are appropriate reward for 5th to 8th places https://liquipedia.net/starcraft/AoV_iCCup_StarLeague

Anyway I don't find any information if they've sold their coins or not, but I believe they're either sell or lost the private keys because they're high likely only know the games and don't care with Bitcoin.
They might've sold it the same year.
There is a high chance that those who got Bitcoins at that time doesn't know the capabilities of Bitcoin. I mean they don't have a time machine so they don't know at that time that this will be the future of Bitcoin thus, when they got the Bitcoins they might sell it a few days after.

Nevertheless, I feel a bit of regret on that one, but I guess even the organizers of that tournament don't know what will happen to Bitcoin 5-10 years from now that's why they just made it as a consolation prize. I agree with what you said though that maybe the ones who got those Bitcoins aren't involved in cryptocurrency at all, and just focused on games.

Cheesy.

2057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give it a break. on: February 20, 2023, 09:54:29 AM
~
At this point what do you think about this gambling strategy I use? Although yours may not be with 5-7 streaks in a week you can also set a number of streaks convenient with you to use. Or is there anyone out there already using this strategy and how beneficial has it being to you?
Currently, I'm on a losing streak, and a few days from now, I might take some break as well to prevent further losses.

Having this kind of strategy really helped me to be disciplined, to be aware of the losses that I get. Having self-control and knowing when to stop really is a big factor when it comes to gambling. Giving yourself a break especially when you are a losing streak is needed so that you don't regret in the end because you might lose your money on the process.

I've been this using strategy for months already, and it really helped me a lot. On the other hand, I'm not only using this kind of strategy when I'm losing, but also when I'm winning. Giving myself a break also on winning would secure my winnings, and I'd do that all day than putting all of my winnings again and gamble it knowing that there is a chance that I might lose my money. It's my way of securing my winnings.

Give yourself a break both when you are losing and at the same time winning.
2058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is getting ready for $25K, How? on: February 20, 2023, 07:36:11 AM
The more it touches that price, the higher the chance that it will surpass that price.
Bitcoin has touched $25,000 3 times already this week. I don't know, but it seems like the selling pressure at that price is really high that it can't break that price even though it is trying to go above that price.

Now Bitcoin, after that short dump a few days ago is trying to go pass that $25,000 price again and it's now $600 away from it. RSI is at 48 while MACD just crossed below 0 on the hourly chart and knowing that Bitcoin is still above the 200 EMA, the trend is now going up so there's a high chance that we might see Bitcoin go above $25,000 a few days to a few weeks from now.

I'm sure many will be happy if investors see Bitcoin go pass and stay above $25,000. Cheesy
2059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 20, 2023, 07:10:41 AM
I wish it was going back to East vs. West and players wear their own teams jerseys. Team selections before the game was exciting though. We can say that's a good progress in this format.
First half was decent. Giannis only played for 20 seconds. LeBron's dunk was amazing. 3-pt contest champion Dame Dolla missed 7 in a row. Everybody scored except De'Aaron Fox. Kyrie and Tatum take the game more seriously. We'll see who wants to be MVP in second half though, I'm expecting LeBron to score more. We are watching an average All-Star game so far. I hope second half will be better.

Lebron did not play in the second half because of an injury. It is too bad since in the second half, his team needs his leadership. Team Giannis poured threes from everywhere. I think it was Dame who even made a half court three. Tatum does not seem to miss from the 3-point area. Team Giannis created a big lead in the 3rd quarter that made it hard for team Lebron to overcome in the 4th quarter.

Congratulations to Jayson Tatum for bagging the MVP award.

It's Dame time!!!!!.
Dame made the nail in the coffin that gave the Team Giannis the victory. Now the Lebron winning streak has ended.

It was a close one until the 3rd quarter where Mitchell, Dame and Tatum lead the way and poured some three point shots. Tatum scored 27 points in that quarter. The most number of points a player had in one quarter in NBA All-star game history. Tatum, Mitchell and Dame combined for 121 of the total 184 points by the whole team almost 2/3 of the points of the whole team came from only 3 players. That's just insane.

Anyway, both of the teams didn't play the whole game. I thought that Giannis can play even with his right hand injury, but he joined in the first 20 seconds and opted to go out and just watch. Lebron on the other hand, didn't play in the 2nd half because of an injury as well. Overall, a wonderful game to end the all-star week. Congratulations to Tatum who set a new record for most points of a player in NBA All-star history with 55 points.

With how the league is changing right now in terms of offense, I expect that this record will be broken year after year. I expect that somebody next year will break that record again.
2060  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here into passive investing (of their time)? on: February 20, 2023, 04:03:52 AM
I have relatively passive investments like buying stocks or Bitcoin to hold, but in terms of time invested, in terms of work, I've always done active work.

I've been thinking about in the future starting some project that can bring me passive income once the work is done and so I'm curious to see if some of you do such work and/or what ideas you have about it.
Passive income in the Stock Market thru Dividends. That is the closest one to a real passive investing.

I mean you will only buy the stock, just hold it your broker and just wait for the dividends to come to you. Well, of course you need a huge capital in order for you to achieve the desired amount of monthly or quarterly dividends that you want, but in terms of earning passively, dividends is I believe the way to go.

Starting some projects that can bring you passive income is not passive income. When you start a project, you need to work still to maintain that project right? Unless you will give it to somebody you trust and you do nothing then you can consider it as passive investment maybe.

If you don't really want to work in the future, Stock market thru dividends is the way to go.
