Everything that Preston Pysh wrote is DEAD on, and I wish more people around the globe understood this. Below we post a chart from the latest Research Investment Committee report by BofA titled "Stagnation, stagflation or elevation", which with just one image blows up everything that is flawed with monetary policy. It shows that while lower rates indeed stimulate spending and lead to lower savings, this effect peaks at around 4% and then goes negative. In fact, the lower yields - and rates - drop below 4% - not to mention to 0% or below - the lower the propensity to spend and the higher the savings rate!

Actually you're wrong, Hairy. I do believe some of the protesters are well intentioned. And I do believe that there is systemic racism, low wages, and police brutality. But do you think that mass rioting, picking fights with cops, looting (blatant stealing), smashing windows, overturning and burning cars, and burning buildings to the ground is actually the right way to go about addressing it? That it's all going to work great, and the state is going to just throw in the towel, stand down the cops and the military, and wave the white flag? Actually the exact OPPOSITE is going to happen. It's only going to make matters worse, not better. Peaceful non-violent protest, respect for your city, and respect for your fellow man (no matter what race or class) is the only way to go on this. My bets are on at least one or more of the following happening: 1) Jewish person(s) targeted again, because hate crime. 2) Another school shooting. 3) The yearly hurricane destruction of the southeastern U.S. 4) Worldwide coordinated cyber attack. 5) Major oil tanker spill off the coast of a major coastal city and/or ecological wildlife preserve, many billions of $$$ damage. Like I said, when the people choose senseless looting and rioting over meaningful peaceful protest, this is what happens.
Blacks did meaningful, peaceful protests. Sports people would kneel during a crappy song and white people went berserk. That's about the least violent, least noisy, least impactful thing you could do and it got rebukes from the President on down. The truth is they don't want black people to protest at all, just shut the fuck up, take it, and do their jobs. That's reality. This is where it leads. Well, on one side of this line are hero protesters doing it right. I support these people 1000%. And on the other side, are people who have lost their fucking minds, and clearly could give a fk all about the death of George Floyd. Are we really going to sit here and justify the actions of the looters? Who do they think will pay for all of that destruction? The wealthy elites, or the poor tax payers? |
