2041  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: November 06, 2022, 12:41:57 PM
Personally, I am against these charges and it affects the rate of crypto adoption. It discourages people from starting to use crypto. What is your opinion about this practice ?

I find it interesting. I think that those exchanges do/will have an exodus of accounts (and funds) and a liquidity drop too.
At least it helps people keep their money in their own wallets (at least I hope so).

On the other hands, it can cause an even more centralization of users in the few bigger and more active exchanges, which also don't have this kind of fees.
Unfortunately I don't expect many CEX users opt for DEX, not yet. But maybe soon enough...
2042  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Has Ledger stopped updating apps for the Nano S on: November 06, 2022, 12:21:27 PM
I would still like to know if future updates will be released for the Nano S as well

They have been still selling Nano S this year, 2022. And, afaik, by the European laws (Ledger is French, right?), they have to offer full support for at least 2 more years.
So for now I would not be worried. Not yet. After 2024, that's another story.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Oct 2022] Mempool empty! Use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: November 06, 2022, 12:18:38 PM
Pretty crazy what's happening this weekend, no?

Actually it happens early in the (European) mornings too, during the week, and rather often.
For now all is nice. The "madness" will start when the price will jump fast again.
2044  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Friends and Family members want me to invest for them, help! on: November 06, 2022, 12:13:25 PM
In my country up to 7 people I knew very well ( friends and family ) want me to help them invest money in crypto, after telling them the risk involved and how it will be better if they learn themselves they turn the idea down..

Now they want me to invest their own money on coins and they aren't ready to choose the coins they will like themselves.

After thinking this through and through I started feeling like they are doing this to hold me responsible if something goes wrong.

Is my thoughts right? If you are in my shoes what will you do?

It can be that they fear they may make mistakes and it can be that they are not ready to take responsibility for those actions. It's you who know better all this.
However, no matter how good you explain, there's a very good chance they'll blame you anyway if something goes wrong.

I would not do this, especially if there are doubts like you've expressed.
If they really want to, you can guide them on each and every step (even by staying behind their back), but doing the actions yourself, ... I don't know...

Salut.
2046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN PRICE 1.25M$ EACH on: November 05, 2022, 01:10:03 PM
what I'm wondering is why the price of bitcoin was inserted into the car's radio station when the character opened it?

1. It worth mentioning that the radio scene is around minute 8:15
2. Bitcoin in movies is nothing new. Most probably that news is meant to emphasize that the action happens in a more or less distant future. Nothing else.
2047  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Freedom of speech soon to become a mirage. Will Bitcoin still be here by 2030? on: November 05, 2022, 10:35:15 AM
Will Bitcoin be a way to escape the Great Reset or will it perish?

Imho for every change that's against the people (like the current Big Brother trend) there's a threshold. When the glass is getting full, the people will react, and badly.
For now, especially in the democratic countries, some politicians are testing the waters and others keep an eye on them. Sort of equilibrium that doesn't need to be taken too serious (everybody can declare anything, that doesn't mean it will actually happen).

So no, I don't think that bitcoin will perish that soon. It will even get bigger.
Plus, bitcoin can work with and without KYC, depending on what the user wants and his level of knowledge.

Actually this trend trends to even fuel the privacy oriented altcoins ...
2048  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Full RBF on: November 05, 2022, 10:26:27 AM
I have a feeling that the services relying on non-RBF transactions may have a small edge / advantage over the competition (since 0 conf is a good advertising and attracts users) hence they're not eager to change.

So while it could be a nice gesture to postpone the full RBF a little, we may have the exact same problem on the next release too.
2049  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Payment Unit for Labor Absolution is still alive in 2022 on: November 05, 2022, 08:31:07 AM
1inch nu e doar o monedă, e un exchange descentralizat.

Oh, asa are ceva sens.

2050  Economy / Economics / Re: Brexit: Rejoining EU takes record 14-point lead in latest poll on: November 05, 2022, 08:15:04 AM
No. I don't expect them ever been in the "anti russian front"; at least not for real.
If you knew a little bit of history you wouldn't say that.
As an Iranian let me tell you that there is no pro Russian stance in Iran. Neither among people nor in the administration.
Nobody has forgotten than in the 80's when US and Soviets were at war, when it came to the full scale invasion of Iran they became allies (with 80 other countries) a war they lost I should add. The last 2 years of the war in Persian Gulf Iranians were fighting against both US and Russian navy at the same time. In the 90's when it came to more sanctions against Iran, US and Russia became allies again. In early 2000 when US Gen. Clark is ordered to Destroy 7 Countries in 5 Years Russia and US were allies again. In 2010+ when the strategy is medical and economical terrorism against Iran, US and Russia were allies again.

Woah. I stand corrected (although Russia allied with US sounds odd, I think that I understand what you mean).

Still, if not pro-Russia, they still try, especially lately, to enrage US, at least that's my feeling.
Plus, also lately, they seem to help out Russia sell some resources under the radar. It may be "business, as usual", or may be more, I don't know.

2051  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Payment Unit for Labor Absolution is still alive in 2022 on: November 04, 2022, 04:00:56 PM

2052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One word is enough on: November 04, 2022, 12:53:08 PM
Today my life has completely changed, I have so much knowledge about Crypto in general now, and I'm worth some good thing as far as Bitcoin is concerned. I'm sharing this to inspire every bounty hunters out there, Start a life today is worth more than the penny you alway get from Bounty.

While the advice to stop spending the time with the bounties (since most are worthless) is a good advice, I am not convinced about the knowledge you claim.
I am sure that in so much time you had plenty of ways to learn, but with so small activity on the forum there are also plenty of chances you've misunderstood something and didn't ask here.

Of course, I may be wrong, still, be careful, ask first, don't be overly confident with things you don't know for sure and keep in mind that all of us keep learning things during our entire lifetime.
2053  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX comedy and might be another exchange that bites the dust? on: November 04, 2022, 12:46:04 PM
On positive side, I have to give him small credits for still keeping Bitcoin withdrawals totally free without any fees charged on FTX exchange.

This is just a business strategy to get a bigger number of customers. It can also be a strategy to gather as much KYC data as he can... and I don't want to think what he can use that for.

I agree he's fake. I agree that all he cares about is profit and jumping heavily into "crypto" may hurt his finances badly if bitcoin bull market doesn't come quick and save him.
I think that the only correct morale of the story is "never keep too much money and for too long in custodial accounts" (eg exchanges). Not only FTX.
2054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sports and entertainment industries could play a big role in Bitcoin adoption. on: November 04, 2022, 12:38:25 PM
I have long been having a thought over this.

You are just too late, meaning that plenty others have been noticing this in the past years.

In 2014 already, Dogecoin holders have sponsored and painted (nicely!) a car for NASCAR.
I don't know, I think it was in 2017 I think when some Monero holders were trying to get people from entertainment area advertise Monero.
Kim Kardashian was already fined for shilling some other coin.
Crypto.com is very present in Formula 1.
Many platforms are sponsoring football teams, formula 1 cars and many other sports.
...and this is only the small part I know of.

As you can see, it happens already on a pretty big scale, and not only for bitcoin.
But bitcoin itself is a somewhat different story. Bitcoin has not CEO, it's not a business per se, it doesn't have funds for advertising. Bitcoin related businesses have that. So Bitcoin itself won't advertise itself, but Bitcoin companies should advertise both themselves and Bitcoin too. Could this be done at a larger scale? Most probably. But overall it's not a new idea.
2055  Other / Off-topic / Re: I need more protection for my PC on: November 04, 2022, 08:41:10 AM
more security to crypto software wallets

Linux is supposed to be the safer. But if you don't know very good to setup your OS you will miss something. Even if you know what to do you have a chance for making errors, or not update some vulnerability in time, or whatever.

The safest setup is the offline setup. Learn to use cold storage, it can be set up with one USB stick or external HDD if you don't have a spare computer. Just keep in mind that the system should (absolutely) never go online.
Or, if you want convenience or you're not tech savvy, just buy a hardware wallet.
2056  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Access to Ledger Nano S (2018 version) without PIN? on: November 03, 2022, 06:54:46 PM
The Ledger Nano S has a dual-chip architecture. There is one normal chip for buttons, screen, USB, etc. And another one -- the secure element -- for all actions with private keys.
It's actually very good and clever design. And very hard to hack Cheesy

I've found at some point these writings: https://saleemrashid.com/2018/03/20/breaking-ledger-security-model/
I don't know if you're familiar with them, unfortunately I didn't get to read much either, but a quick look seems to tell that getting the info is possible, especially if you're lucky to have an old firmware on it (1.3.1).
2057  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Access to Ledger Nano S (2018 version) without PIN? on: November 03, 2022, 05:51:20 PM
Is there any way to get access to the funds on Ledger Nano S (from year 2018) without the PIN code?

Since you don't have neither the PIN, nor the private key,... is this your Ledger? I guess not. And then, why would we help you steal somebody else's money? "paid in abundance" sound cool, but "accessory to crime" doesn't.
2058  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Privacy questions about ninjastic.space and loyce.club on: November 03, 2022, 05:35:06 PM
will both sites comply with this deletion

They will most certainly do. But they're not the only problem, I'm sure others are scraping the forum too, for whatever reasons. Some users may user archive.is (and its brothers), search engines also do their scraping, the internet archive may do so too (less often though), ... the thing is that if you do such a mistake you cannot ever be sure it was not recorded somewhere (else), no matter the nice guys from the forum delete that from their data.
2059  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Repairing MacBook - electrum on: November 03, 2022, 05:27:38 PM
Do note that disconnecting storage option is only applicable on non-ARM MacBooks, M1/M2 MacBook storage is built-in into the board.

That's a dumb "innovation". How do they expect people to expand their internal storage space once they run out of it? Carry a storage server with them everywhere?

They could be actually happy that they've found a way to boost sales: when the storage doesn't suffice you'll need a new MacBook with bigger in-built storage. This happens with smartphones' RAM too for many years, no matter the maker.
(I'm not a Mac/Apple fan/user, so I may have been misunderstand something though; if so, please correct me)
2060  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC, more closer bullish days ahead. on: November 03, 2022, 03:53:43 PM
im in the UK and i have had discussions with many uk bitcoin hobbiests. and spring summer they were spending fiat on lifestyle stuff. but with UK government payouts to households to give credit to energy companies means they can now afford winter and are looking to re-invest excess/disposable fiat into bitcoin. energy prices means they dont want to mine this year as it costs more to mine. but they are happier to buy while its cheap. sentiment is moving back to investing rather than fiat prepping

This is interesting, but we both know that this is not about amounts that can really move the market/trend.
However, the sentiment indeed is improving.
