Wise up guys. For a quick rough demo of this madness we put in 1 BTC at 5% per week compounding for a mere 5 years :

double value = 1;
final double scaler = 1.05;
final double end = (365 / 7) * 5; (no squeals please. it is not production code)

for (int i = 0; i < end; i ++) {
    value *= scaler;
}

System.out.println(value);

result= 323,011.3316355211 BTC

lol, you can have more bitcoin that satoshi very soon  Wink

2125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Arbitrage on: January 30, 2014, 02:09:12 PM
If you're waiting to transfer coins when doing arbitrage, then you're doing it wrong. You need to have fiat-money on the cheap exchange and coins on the expensive exchange and make the 2 trades (buy low, sell high) as close to eachother as possible. Any delay means you're exposing yourself to exchange-rate fluctuations (which can be beneficial or detrimental).

The opportunities for arbitrage are very, very minimal.

Unless you live close to an Bitcoin ATM.

A Bitcoin ATM is not going to sell at a price that can be appreciably arbitraged unless its operator feels like giving away money.

Actually, they lowered the hurdle for beginners by now.

Yup.

New users can now immediately start posting unless they are using suspicious IPs.

EDIT: Didn't notice this thread was 2 months old lol.
2127  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin transaction on: January 30, 2014, 02:01:27 PM
what is a high pri transaction?

High-priority (free) transaction:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees#Sending

If your tx satisfies the three conditions, your wallet will allow you to send it without any fee.

If it is the case, you probably don't need to do anything.
Just give it a few hours (at worst), the tx will probably be confirmed.

Cool ,thanks for the info, very much appreciated!

No problem Smiley

2130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is the Investors/Entrepreneurs thread gone? on: January 30, 2014, 01:53:29 PM

Hi all!

I was looking for the thread that used to be in the newcomer section that provided help to businesspeople who wanted to request that their new member status be expedited to full posting priveledges.

My company, Cryptobarterexchange.com, is getting set to make a couple of announcements, and since I have always come to Bitcointalk to get my information about cryptocurrencies, I wanted this to be the forum that will get the news first.

If there is any way that I can still have this happen, I would be most appreciative, as I am quite busy getting ready for launch, and am finding it hard to constantly make sure my new member time is continuing to tick along.

Thanks!

The whitelist thread? You already have full posting privileges now. The newbie restrictions were lifted days ago.

Exactly.

BTW, I just checked OP's post history.
Apart from these posts here in newbie board, he only posted in a Particle (PRT) giveaway thread and ask for assistance for Graincoin (GRA) mining.
I am not really sure what OP is going to announce lol.
2131  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $4,000 to invest in GPU miner. What do? on: January 30, 2014, 01:46:36 PM
Don't be stupid, buy Bitcoin

Yes, sir.

My objective is to mine doge (for now) and transfer into BTC.
...
Im here to have fun and pay rent. (1060month)

IMHO, it is better to just buy bitcoin directly.
But if you really want to mine, go ahead and have fun. Tongue
2132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not Getting Full potential, Please help on: January 30, 2014, 01:38:04 PM
Alright so I'm pretty new to mining, I tried mining doge coins atm I'm using 1 Radeon 6970 HIS video card maxing out at 400MHZ.  My question shouldn't i be able to achieve atleast 500MHZ without any hesitation? here are the settings I'm using please help. "C:\Users\MerK\Desktop\guiminer-scrypt_win32_binaries_v0.04\cgminer\cgminer.exe" --scrypt -u USN -p PW -o stratum+tcp://stratum-us.doge.hashfaster.com:3339 --gpu-platform 0 -d 0 -w 256 -v 1 -I 17 -g 1 -l 1 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 955 --no-submit-stale --auto-fan

I have a feeling i may be using the wrong drivers or something like that?

1. MHz (mega hertz) ≠ MH/s (megahash per second), they are two completely different things.
2. Dogecoin is scrypt-based coin (like litecoin), and the hash speed is around 1000 times slower than sha256. Therefore, scrypt hashrate is usually expressed in KH/s (kilohash per second).
You can find the hashrate of different hardware here. https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison
According to that, the hashrate for "6970, HIS" is around 435 KH/s.

yeah once we get confirmation of payment, hopefully in like a day or two, the clock will start on your order.  Then it will be 17 business days until you receive it.

"hopefully in like a day or two" lol.
Either they don't even understand what bitcoin is, or odolvlobo's theory is very likely true.

2137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: lost bitcoins (bitstamp to blockchain) on: January 30, 2014, 01:01:44 PM
Hi Sonny. Thanks for getting back in touch.
Yes, there aren't many details, just a transaction id, the status (finished), and the date it was processed. It doesn't say anywhere the address that the transaction was made from, but as it's my first and I've never done it before, I'm unsure if it actually should!
Really just don't know what to do from here.

search the transaction id on blockchain.info, and you will get the details on that transaction.
Check if the recipient is your deposit address on blockchain.info wallet.

If not, maybe bitstamp made a mistake or maybe you somehow enter the wrong address...

Has anybody else had something like this? Could it be a processing error at their end?

I have not heard of something like that.
2138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do newbs get to post outside this sub? on: January 30, 2014, 12:13:54 PM
How long to recive JR status.

4 hours of spent time on the forum and at least 1 post made..

Or your activity needs to become greater then 0, not sure o.O

one of those it is..

No offense, but you are spreading wrong info Sad

You need 30 activity now so that's pretty much a month to achieve that. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

2139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any btc offer sites that are easy and actually worth my time? on: January 30, 2014, 12:10:44 PM
I was just wondering about if there were easy ways to get bitcoin's since i'm new to this and cryptocurrencie's seem like a great investment opportunity.In regards to a earlier question no i don't mine it would not be profitable to me considering the energy costs involved with that.

You can buy it directly.
You can sell goods (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0) or services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0) for bitcoin as well.
2140  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: big problem on: January 30, 2014, 12:05:07 PM
Can anyone give me an idea, a tip on where or how to invest that money?
I cannot afford to lose this because we are all going to end up on the street.
Thank you for any kind of help.

Bitcoin is not a "get rich fast" schemes.

I cannot afford to lose this because we are all going to end up on the street.

Forget about your plan completely.
You can put part of your money into bitcoin for long-term investment, but NEVER put all your saving or borrow money to invest in bitcoin.
