You can mine scrypt coins with your GPUs. Try middlecoin or multipool, and you will be able to mine the most profitable coin automatically.

So, can I earn Bitcoins here ? Yes you can !!! re.2et.in (ReTweeting) now supports this feature. You can convert your credits, that you will earn by retweeting others, to Bitcoin.
I couldn't find the conversion rate....so, how much can we get for retweeting? I'm sure the credit system integrated with your website is working properly, however that's of no use for most of the people on this forum. In the end 9/10 of the people who are browsing posts like this are in it to earn bitcoins, hence I'm asking if that aspect is working properly. It's not a personal trust issue, it's about this being the internet and scammers are everywhere. So until someone else rather than the owner confirms that it's working I will not invest my own time in it! However, as soon as someone confirms it I myself ( and I'm sure a lot of others ) will gladly join and contribute. Also as I didn't mention it before, +1 for the concept of the website, it's really clever.
Well said.

Very good thread OP, however, can you confirm that everything you link is legit and that the sites are paying out, or are you leaving it to the individual contest hosts?
The OP was last updated on Dec 17, and thus the info may be out of date.

Gambling is definitely the most fun, but personally I'd never take that risk, it's common knowledge that you lose on average.
And, you can invest in a gambling site.

It is now a good time to buy some cheap bitcoin.

4.67 is definately a lot for a home rig.
Sorry I got my maths wrong. It is drawing 1 kw unit per hour.
It turns out to be just 1 KW/h.

thanks got one there, so i guess there should be e-wallets for all altcoins on there launch, or not..! In other way, You can use this http://ufasoft.com/coin/ not e-wallets Supported currencies: Bitcoin - BTC Namecoin - NMC Litecoin - LTC PPCoin - PPC Novacoin - NVC DevCoin - DVC TerraCoin - TRC FeatherCoin - FTC EarthCoin - EAC MetisCoin - MTC PrimeCoin - XPM ProtoShares - PTS SolidCoin - SC the site is very badly designed, looks fishy anyone using it need some feedback..! It was originally designed as a CPU miner in early 2011 lol. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3486.0

Thanks for the heads up.
It would be better to go to localbitcoins (p2p), coinbase (in US) or bitstamp (outside US).

I would wait to buy, I feel like they will keep dropping to like $500 and then will go back up
yes 500 or 550 is best price to buy and as things going I hope he touches this soon If it drops to 500, then thats a bad sign why its already once drop to 450 and again came back on 850 and not again going between 650 to 700 but hope its fight back on 800 BTC price did drop to ~400 in mid Dec, but the low of this round of correction/crash is ~620.

One of the best places I've seen for analyzing coins is coinwarz.com---great data, and great tools (tip of the hat to them). Know your hash-rates, keep it simple and profitable, and just get started.
Apart from checking the profitability on conwarz, you could join middlecoin or multipool, and you will be able to mine the most profitable coin automatically.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. My name is Michael and I'm from New Zealand. I've been reading this thread with great interest as I'm also keen on the idea of starting mining for coin.
I should point out that I have only a rudimentary knowledge of cryptocurrencies, so please excuse me if I make a dumb remark or ask a question others all know the answers too.
Am I right in thinking the following ... There are two basic types of coin, SHA256 and scrypt ? The hardware used to mine SHA256 coins cannot be used to mine scrypt coins ? Antminer etc The hardware used to mine scrypt coins can also be used to mine SHA256 coins ? GPU's
Living down here in the South Pacific, it can be difficult to get hold of hardware at reasonable prices. For example I see prices quoted for GPU's in USD that I can only dream about. The newer more powerful cards are marketed as gamer cards and are sold at premium prices ... a Radeon R9 290X 5GB card sells here for USD$720 !
I've watched a number of how to videos and read a few too. It seems to me that a 4 x R9 280X rig with a 1200 watt PSU should be mining around 1 litecoin per day or 0.02 bitcoin ... does that sound correct ? I could assemble a rig like that for around USD$2800 ... power is about USD$0.20 per kilowatt hour. If the prices I'm seeing for litecoin at USD$18.50 and bitcoin at USD$716.00 are correct, then mining can be profitable over the course of a year.
Am I correct or barking up the wrong tree ? All thoughts and comments appreciated
MichaelNZ
Welcome Michael. Apart from SHA256 and scrypt based coins, they are many others like SHA3, PoS (Proof-of-stake), PoW (Proof of burn), etc. You can use CPU/GPU to mine SHA256 and scrypt based coins. ASIC is used to describe those specially designed hardware for mining. The Antminer or other existing ASICs are specially designed to do SHA256 computations. We will have some scrypt ASICs as well soon. For example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421921.0Don't forget to take the difficulty adjustment into your profit calculation. Use the QT. Quit relying on others to provide security for you.
Then you have to be VERY careful about your programs etc. Just use blockchain.info's wallet service. In which case you STILL have to be VERY careful about your programs etc. blockchain.info's service is just a wallet that runs in your browser. Any program that can steal your bitcoins from a wallet running on your computer can steal bitcoins from blockchain.info's service. Exactly. If you have a trojan/keylogger on your computer, your bitcoin will be stolen, no matter you are using bitcoin-qt, electrum, multibit, bc.i online wallet, or using exchanges / gambling sites to keep your bitcoin. That's why you should never download a random file or click a random link, and you should better use a offline wallet to store your bitcoin.

how will be btc transactions confirmed after 100 years?
Please refer to DannyHamilton's post in page 2. Of course during this time, the block subsidy will be reduced by half (and rounded down to the nearest 0.10 microbitcoins) every 4 years. So the 25 BTC subsidy that miners receive today will be reduced to 12.5 BTC in about 3 years. Then that will be reduced to 6.25 BTC 4 years later, and so on.
In the meantime, the value of the total transaction fees of all transactions included in the block will increase over time as bitcoin gains popularity. Eventually the subsidy will shrink to an amount that is less than the transaction fees. At that time, the reward the miners receive will mostly come from transaction fees instead of the subsidy.
When the subsidy eventually shrinks to 0 BTC, mining will be entirely supported by transaction fees.

|
|
Nothing is forever!
In about one year there will be no mining ! How about that? Who is going to confirm the transactions? Probably me.
So, what make you feel there will be no mining in 1 year? Care to share?
