I don't believe I'm mining this too well. Whilst I was mining on Multipool, I got a message every 30 seconds or so saying accepted. However, on MiddleCoin, I get that message every 10 minutes or so. Is this a problem or is it normal?

Here is what I found on the faq section.
http://www.middlecoin.com/faq.html

Quote
Do you use a variable difficulty?
No. The difficulty is static at 512. This reduces my server load.

Does having a difficulty as high as 512 reduce my profits?
No. The only downside is that it increases your very short-term variance since you'll only find a share every minute or so on a 1 MH/s rig. There is misinformation on the bitcoin forum stating that a high difficulty reduces your profit if you have a slow GPU. This is untrue. It has no influence on your profit.

So, basically you will find shares less often, and each shares will give you more bitcoin.
Your expected revenue will be the same, but the variance will be higher.

I guess he is saying OP's project is a scam....

There's quite a few alternatives to cex.io now, with various prices at various places.

No trading, but it's 0.0125 per GH/s as we speak.

Seems like you didn't setup your referral link right. Wink

And, the info on the homepage is out of date lol.
In the homepage, it says "0.016BTC per GH!", and in the payment page it shows "1 GH/s @ 0.01250000 for 5 years".
1184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin transaction on: February 09, 2014, 05:50:28 PM
the number of bitcoins in existence will never exceed 21 million.

And so?
We can have 21 billion mBTC, 21 trillion µBTC or 2.1 quadrillion satoshi.

Or, do you prefer the number of bitcoin to keep on increasing just like USD?
1185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining on: February 09, 2014, 05:46:42 PM
Anyone have any experience with CryptoCurrencyInc.com?  Never seen any feedback so I am unsure if it's real or a scam.

They offer 1GH/s per $10 for a year contract.  Is that a common price across the cloud mining 'industry'?

Tat looks like a cheap offer to me, but i am mining only scrypt coins, anyway, check everything twice before buying.

Be careful, the mining contract will start 3+ months later, but not now. Smiley

There's also this site: http://pbmining.com

No trading, but it's 0.0125 per GH/s. The admin's fairly active on these boards and seems to be very helpful.

This is the official thread, in case someone is curious.

You can try to use multipool, or middlecoin pool, they determine most profitable alt coin and trades it for BTC.

I looked into Multipool and noticed they just have automatic servers that mines, at this point in time, DogeCoin. If I use one of their automatic servers will I get DogeCoins or BTC?

If you use middlecoin, you would get bitcoin directly. Smiley

Middlecoin
This pool automatically mines the most profitable scrypt coin, automatically exchanges those coins for bitcoins, and pays out entirely in bitcoins.

So, I've taken a look at MiddleCoin and that sounds much better, I've started mining correctly. But how do I know if I have enough to cash-out? (I know it does it automatically but It'd be nice to know?) Is that possible, or do I justl eave it running?

You can find your stat in this page.
http://www.middlecoin.com/allusers.html

Thank you. I guess I'm not on there yet because I haven't mined long enough.

No problem.
I believe the stat is updated every hour or so.

The number of altcoins is way too high..! there are around 1000of altcoins , is it wrth spending time in all these altcoins.? just a question..?
Not really but since there are people interested why not and as for time almost everything on site runs automaticly(crons) Smiley i just spend time when adding new coin and that is about 30 mins so in a way it might worth something in the end Smiley

Though I am not interested in using faucets, I guess your site may interest some altcoin fans. Smiley

BTW, as I can see, you may need restock some of your coins Cheesy

No worries, a lot of them are dead already, and most of the rest will die soon.
They may be a few winners after all, but not 1000 lol. Tongue

Is this because of the amount of people who are mining?

Yet i see many people starting up am i missing something here?

What about using using a miner to go after litecons or something else?

Another question is if your not mining then what else is there to do to get into bitcoins?

In the past, people mined bitcoin using CPUs, and then GPUs, and now some specially designed ASICs (that is designed solely for sha256 calculation).

As a result, the network hashrate is skyrocketing...
FYR: You may take a look at the bottom of this page. bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Apart from buying bitcoin directly, or get some bitcoin from mining, you can sell your goods (GPU, T-shirt, etc) and services (sig ad, FB likes, programming, translation, etc.) in bitcoin.

Mining other coins is much better investment than mining in bitcoin
can anyone suggest what are the best altcoins to mine @ this time because there are way too many out there..!

You could mine some very new coins that are not yet on any exchanges.
Just go to the altcoin section and pick the newest one.
If somehow it is included in an exchange, you would get quite some profits. Smiley

Or, you could mine some already-listed altcoins.
Take a look at middlecoin and multipool. Smiley

Very much agree.
OP, you can mine some scrypt coins and sell them for bitcoin, and it is profitable.
1193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet addresses in signature on: February 09, 2014, 05:05:47 PM
Thanks Danny and Sonny.  That was really helpful.

No problem.

That is what I was thinking but then as Sonny has pointed out they can look on the block chain and calculate how much BTC you have in the wallet; which is not good if someone links that back to you and knows ways to hack.

You could use that address for your signature here only, and not for faucets or any other trades. So, others can only see how much you get from tips.

It is true that people can see it if you send bitcoin out of that address.
But, they don't know if you are sending it to coinbase or a gambling site or buying something using bitpay, or you are just sending it to your other addresses.
1194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Choosing BTC address on: February 09, 2014, 04:57:32 PM
It is a "best practice" to use a new address for EVERY transaction.  This reduces privacy issues and slightly increases security.  As such, vanity addresses are generally a bad idea, since they encourage you to reuse the same address repeatedly.

Agree that it is not good to reuse addresses.
But, someone may want to have a "fancy" address for tips and donations.  Cheesy

So can anyone experienced can tell me weather to use that services or not to get a btc address ..! !! or there is any other credible program/service for that.

You can use Vanitygen.
It is open-source, and you can run it offline. For safety, you can even format your HDD afterwards.  Cheesy

1197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is a mining rig a fire risk on: February 09, 2014, 04:48:48 PM
Your rig is pulling 4k kw/h what?  Shocked

At least use some proper cables.
4,67 kW is insane.

Sorry I got my maths wrong.  It is drawing 1 kw unit per hour.  The reason I am asking is because my Dad has got it into his head that it is a fire risk.  I have done my research and I cannot find anything to suggest it is.  I was looking for some feedback from the community here because there are people who have massive rigs and I have never seen anything about their rigs causing fires.  I am in a position where I may have to rent an office to put it in now and I dont really have the money or mining power to justify doing that  Cry

If your rig is just pulling 1KW/h, it is pretty safe, unless your wiring is in bad condition or your rig has very bad ventilation....

1199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining an ALT for BTC? on: February 09, 2014, 04:39:23 PM
I'm looking to mine an ALT with my GPU. However, I'm then interested in selling it for BTC. What should I mine and what pool?
Edit: I've started to mine MaxCoin, is this good? It's new so I thought it might get somewhere?

Mutipool is the best so far. Or you can try switchercoin which pay out in Litecoin instead..

Right now I'ver got 9.3604 unconfirmed DogeCoins from mining. How do I get these confirmed at to BTC? I'm using Multipool.

You can find the answer in the help section...

Quote
Q: Why do I have three balances?
A: The first balance is your confirmed balance, which is available for you to withdraw. The second is your unconfirmed balance, which is the amount you've earned for blocks that have been solved by the pool, but have not yet been paid out (the blocks are not yet confirmed in the blockchain). You can see which blocks are still waiting to be confirmed on the Pool Stats page.
The third balance (Estimate) is not really a balance at all, but an estimate of how much you would be paid for the current block if the block were to be found right now. You'll find that if you stop mining, the estimate will start to drop. This is because as more people submit shares, the number of shares submitted by you in the Last N shares starts to drop. If you continue mining at your current rate until the next block is found, the estimate should stay close to the same unless the pool hashrate increases substantially during the same time period.
