...and that I can sell it back at 50%+ the original price (1700$+) meaning I should get a good ROI.

No, I don't think so. That was true a month ago, but probably not now. There will probably be a flood of used hardware that will be flowing into ebay soon that is going to lower that figure.

True.
But still, it is profitable to build GPU rigs to mine scrypt coins now.
1323  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price on Gox going back to reality ? on: February 07, 2014, 04:42:20 PM
I wonder what will happen when withdraws restart.

Everyone will withdraw all their bitcoin, and mtgox will die quickly?  Smiley
1324  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy Shit - Look what i just found in the Interwebs on: February 07, 2014, 04:38:04 PM

Or you could just play on jd or primedice & double it up with a 49.5% chance lol

easy, fast, fun and fair Cheesy
1326  Economy / Economics / Re: How profitable are exchanges? on: February 07, 2014, 04:32:27 PM
in theory they make huge amount of money per day 0.2% fee for BTC if the volumen is BIG for example the volumen today is 5800 btc for BTC/USD market from that they make like 12 BTC only from that pair..i rememmber in november when the first big pump of 1100 usd per bitcoin they make 400k usd in 1 day only from fees

True, but some says the volume figures are fake...
1327  Economy / Economics / Re: BITCOIN IS ONE JUMP AWAY on: February 07, 2014, 04:30:07 PM
+1

we need this drop in price so that speculators and manipulators go away from BTC

+1
It really annoys me when someone considers bitcoin as a get rich fast scheme, especially when he/she has no idea what bitcoin really is...
1328  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: February 07, 2014, 04:26:15 PM
Alts are like penny stocks. boom one day, bust the next. On bitbet you can make a very educated bet. For example" bitcoin and litecoin will lead all virtual coins in market cap throughout 2014."

That sounds like a risky bet to me... bitcoin is ok but I'm not sure about litecoin

none of alts are safe Smiley

even bitcoin is not 100% safe Smiley

but IF you want to invest into crypto - bitcoin if safest option around.

Alts are way too crazy

Agree.
Too many pump and dump for alts.
1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XNF-A digital currency in form of gold on: February 07, 2014, 04:21:16 PM
You should have made this thread in the alt-coin section.

Topic is not about any particular coin but about a particular topc that is eGold and its relation with digital currency. That is why I created this thread here since its more about economic stuff

Anyway, mod has moved it already. Wink

Statement Regarding BTC Withdrawal Delays
Tokyo - JAPAN - February 07, 2014
Dear MtGox Customers,
In our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by various bitcoin withdrawals, it was determined that the increase in the flow of withdrawal requests has hindered our efforts on a technical level. To understand the issue thoroughly, the system needs to be in a static state.
In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary for a temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes.
We apologize for the sudden short notice. All bitcoin withdrawal requests will be on pause, and the withdrawals in the system will be returned to your MtGox wallet and can be reinitiated once the issue is resolved. The trading platform will perform as usual for the needs of our customers.

Our team will resolve this problem as soon as possible and will provide an update on Monday, February 10, 2014 (JST).

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for your kind support and considerations.

Sincerely,
The MtGox Team

What happened to mtgox? Have I missed something?

https://www.mtgox.com/press_release_20140207.html

Withdrawal of BTC isn't possible anymore.

Jesus. Surely this has to be the last straw for Gox?

I have been waiting for this for too long...
1334  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why are BTC prices not moving ? on: February 07, 2014, 04:13:46 PM
WTF? So it's basically impossible for people to get money out of there now? Not sure how many people even still use gos so I'm surprised this had such an effect.
it is impossible to withdraw BTC. Till 10-02-2014 at least.

This is crazy and it is real shit for those who have trusted mtgox.

Seriously, I don't understand why somebody still use mtgox with the terrible delay in USD withdrawals and rumour of insolvency.
1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XNF-A digital currency in form of gold on: February 07, 2014, 04:09:09 PM

This is a good summary of the article Smiley
1338  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does ability to mine BTC change with BTC price? on: February 07, 2014, 03:48:12 PM
btc value rises to $1200+ because of Asia jumping in btc scene and demands for btc was sky high!!!
it has nothing to do with difficulty rise in the past six months before that!

There could be some link between difficulty and price.
With skyrocketing difficulty, people find bitcoin mining non-profitable.
So, instead of buying ASICs, they could be switching to buy bitcoin directly......
1339  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: DIFF OVER 5BILLION???!!! on: February 07, 2014, 03:43:44 PM
Wink to see how it can be 'all over the place' http://allchains.info/ is calculating -1% right now! (with 15 new blocks)

With enough samples now, it is showing a reasonable number now (19.88%)  Wink
1340  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 6k dollar to invest on: February 07, 2014, 03:42:25 PM
Buy bitcoin directly.
Or, build GPU rigs to mine scrypt coins and sell them for bitcoin.
