2121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: this eth congestion sucks almost 5 hours on: March 03, 2021, 10:00:15 AM
Devs should release eip 1559 without asking anyone. That would solve so much things going on with eth.
The dev wants implement EIP 1559 but the problem is miners are against it while we know that this solution can be activated when there will be an agreement between all of miners to upgrade its client. A very difficult way for the users of ethereum platform to see the implementation of this solution.
Miners are only taking the advantage from the high fees

Wonder why they are against it. I haven't fully gone through the proposal (EIP 1559) but it seems they are against because they probably benefit more from the current fee system (which clearly have problems) at the expense of the whole network/users.
Wish they have better solution that'll be acceptable to all network users/participants. Consensus should always be inclusive on truely decentralized system/network

2122  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you consider someone who cheated to win a contest the winner? on: March 03, 2021, 09:11:46 AM
*Would you consider someone who cheated to win a contest the winner of the contest?

If someone cheated in a competition, he not tried to outsmart the rule, he also has taken the place of another person who merits the position he cheated to get.

*Can there be any kind of situation it's should be OK or acceptable to cheat to win? What kind of situation/situations?

In a situation where all the participants in a competition are cheats and are actively cheating, it will be stupid to still try to win the competition or contest with a normal approach. if you decide not to cheat in such a situation, it simply means you have decided to fail out from the contest, which sometimes is still acceptable from moral standards.

I would rather not be part of such competition. Cheating to gain what you don't deserve actually deprive those who deserve them. That will have unpleasant consequences for society/humanity if everything isn't working together according to how it is purposed/destined to be.

If you deserve it, or if it's destined for you, you will win it whether you cheat or not. So it's better to win what is destined for you fairly without cheating. Cheat is actually immoral and will always have consequences.
2123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 21 million is it just a pointless number and nothing to do with scarcity? on: March 02, 2021, 04:59:57 PM
I think the scarcity simply depends on its demand, and how much coins are available to take care of demand ... You know it's scarce when the price goes up due to high demand
2124  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech companies no longer "friends" on: March 02, 2021, 03:51:54 PM
The article talks about making IDFA opt-in for users. So you can choose for an app to track you and your usage. The scourge of "personalized targeted advertisement" is doing a lot of damage to us as individuals and overall as society. Facebook and Google have become the main benefactors and perpetrators of this trend.

If Apple actually follows this in spirit, I may actually invest to buy an Apple phone rather than letting all of these companies turn us into entertained, consumerist zombies. While this has little relevance to blockchain, this must be made mandatory for all smart devices.

One of my main concerns with the typical Personalized Targeted Advertisement is how it can be abused by companies/people who wish to track & understand large numbers of people in detail without necessarily breaking the law.
I will probably allow things like that if they are decentralized, if nothing else apart from the owner knows/understands his own interest/activities, should be safe, not accessible to people without my permission, it should anonymity-friendly/privacy-friendly, etc....
2125  Other / Off-topic / Can Translation Services be trusted? on: March 02, 2021, 01:40:05 PM
Imagine you give one of your Bitcointalk posts to a Translator to translate into a foreign Language you don't understand, and after translating, you take back the original post and ask the Translator to translate the translated post back to the language it was translated from... he/she translates it back but it turn out very different from the original post. Example:
You get a translator to translate the short post below into a foreign language I called "Kir":

- Original post:   "The cat needs something to eat. I'm going to get Linda to feed her."

- Post translated to Kir language:  Ta' kir ilum ko wol sucrum cim sin Linde dum melwzua

- Translated post translated back to English: "The cat was hungry and she ate Linda"

That^ is similar to what I discovered about a translation service I often rely on... though I never really trusted it 100%. It basically misinterpreted the true meaning of the original post. That could create misunderstanding, cause problems, plus other consequences

2127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forking a cryptocurrency? on: March 02, 2021, 10:59:42 AM
Interesting.
The developers probably didn't anticipate the  high fee issue & its  consequences on the NFTs market & the Network in general. . Wish they used a unique model to bring down the fees rather than relying on old model that's based on old systems  which will likely be unsustainable for well decentralized system/network.
Guess the high gas price is a main reason you are looking for alternative? What prevent fee from going that high on a new Blockchain if the underlying problem is fixed.
By the way, I read somewhere (unverified source actually) that the gas fee issue will be fixed in few months time.

Some players or referees don't care about selling themselves or things like that, some players only think about themselves and the benefits that this will give.

I doubt. Players worked their way up and it's a hard path so I doubt they will participate in this "at several cases".

Players aren't that dumb to throw away their career easily. I think that fraud involves people from officiating and not on the players. Leagues also are very careful not to throw their reputation too as the reason why they are being profitable is because of the people that support them.

Should we discuss the political side too? lol

I think players could bribe their way up if you don't have a fraud-proof selection process that  is Merit-based. And I think bribery by players will reduce alot if a league (for example) is very competitive, has good incentives, is not rigged, has the right/sufficient rules and the rules are always followed/enforced . That will likely encourage the clubs/teams to go for the most qualified players because they will want to do well and be rewarded
2129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling and Fantasy Sports - A Gap in the Market? on: March 02, 2021, 09:56:57 AM

Looking at the demographics of fantasy sports, it's predominantly played in countries where sports gambing is banned. For example, in USA and India fantasy sports get around gambling laws, allowing users to experience the thrill of betting. Does this mean people who are allowed to bet aren't too bothered by fantasy games? If so, I can see why crypto sportsbooks haven't put any effort in here. As they allow anyone anywhere to bet, customers would just head straight for the standard sports markets and there wouldn't be such a big appetite for anything fantasy related.

I wonder what exactly the laws are against: Gambling (taking big risk)? Or not engaging in "fantasy sports" betting/predicting atall?

Perhaps the name "Gambling" is why the laws are harsh on it and they are able to get around it by practicing & encouraging safe/responsible betting.?

'If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he eats for a lifetime"

This is what i am having in my life, though i try helping others by giving foods or some small cash but i try educating them how they can find Job or work.

i once tried to Give small capital to a friend for them to start up, and yeah they are now having a good run of business and coping in life.

I actually think it's a good idea to give both the fish and teach them how to turn it into many fish.

In regards to Op point.
Ofcourse, I think people who understand what true cryptocurrency space seeks to achieve and care alot about it will likely know how to do well in this (especially long term) without getting entangled in things that are contrary to the good ideals  of true Cryptocurrency.
By the way, they should be careful investing in projects that lack all the important ideals of true Cryptocurrency. It's important not to get used to them so they don't feel too bad when they experience the consequences.

2131  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you define rich? on: March 01, 2021, 05:22:58 PM
Mine would be getting the good things you need  from your CREATOR, whenever you need them.
You don't need to have the good things stored up somewhere for yourself alone to be considered rich... They are always available for you when you need them, but you don't necessarily own them alone, and you're just required to use them to do good before they can be released to you for free.
2132  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you trade? on: March 01, 2021, 04:07:31 PM
Just buy the significant dips with amount you can afford to lose using funds reserved in stablecoin. You could gradually sell parts of what you bought for profit as the price of the cryptocurrency rises significantly. But I'd  buy more and sell less to hold long-term & for a healthy market.
2133  Other / Off-topic / Re: Corruption and Sports on: March 01, 2021, 03:24:15 PM
In my country every government during the election campaign have the statement we'll abolish corruption on the sports in the manifesto. Is this is common or I'm seeing this on my country. In each and every game, during the selection process bribe is being given. This has made several able sportsmen discontinue their passion on sports and do some routine job for their living.

Same as this is the gambling, more key players are involved with match fixing even after getting huge sum of money after every match winning/losing. Why certain sportsmen have such greed towards money when people are starving to have a single meal on a day.

I guess by abolishing corruption in sports they mean to end the violation of good laid down rules or create new ones to help keep sports safe, fair, healthy etc. Bribery is actually part of corruption that can prevent the development of sports in the right direction.

In regards to bolded, love for money at the detriment of others people and society
2134  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pets used to guard property on: March 01, 2021, 02:45:07 PM
I know that ravens are used to guard some areas from other birds. I also know that many people use eagles for this purpose.
for Guard against other bird ? for what reason ? in farm ? of for what basis that they are guarding against some birds?

What if there is much larger birds than Raven ? it may Kill them before they can protect what they are being assigned .

Probably how you could consider using "Praying Mantis" to control insects/pest. I prefer things like that than using synthetic pesticides in Farms. I imagine you could have many of them in a farm to feed only on insects while the plants grow.
The ravens could be trained to guard against larger birds, in my opinion.
2135  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do with 10 exabytes of storage? on: March 01, 2021, 02:11:34 PM
But no seriously, what would you do with 10 exabytes of storage on your local computer? I need to know for a project.

10 exabytes of storage? I would probably try to download the entire Internet so I can use it offline.  Grin

Interesting answer.
Mine would be to filter out and download lots the good/important stuff from the internet and throw the bad away.
I wonder where the good stuff can be found though....it will likely be rare to find. Good & bad usually get mixed up
2136  Other / Off-topic / Re: Here is an idea how you are part of the "Matrix" on: February 26, 2021, 03:43:41 PM
Well, if we help it happen by our deeds, actions, or inactions, how do we stop doing it?

By doing what pleases the CREATOR of Heaven & Earth rather than what pleases the world.
It pleases our CREATOR to love HIM and your fellow man. If you truely love the CREATOR, you won't abuse what HE created. You will steadily do what pleases HIM.
2137  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your success formula? on: February 26, 2021, 03:30:47 PM
Mine would be to find problems you really care about, solve them in a way that people will find hard to resist, and it should be affordable too for all budgets.
Turn it into a business, start small and scale it up gradually as you become consistently profitable.
2138  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [International Donate] Building rice farms in the Philippines Funding goal 0.2B on: February 26, 2021, 02:52:06 PM
I have one question regarding the price of land in the Philippines - specifically in this case the agricultural land that will be used for rice cultivation. I don't know exactly what the size of the land is, but 0.2 BTC is around $10 000 at the current price - so even though you included all the other costs, I was somehow convinced that agricultural land in that part of the world would be much cheaper.

In my country (EU), a large proportion of workers earn that much throughout the year - although there are those who earn perhaps only 60-70% of that amount.
Most farmers in my country(Philippines) do not have their own land and most of them are part of a hacienda or ranch that is owned by the oligarchs. That money that hopefully gets donated might be able to help them pay their debts, buy seeds and buy their food. Filipino farmers are among the poorest in my country and there are only a few that gets lucky because those who asked for more are either killed or removed from the land, what I am saying is that they are always getting the short end of the stick.

Farmers don't have to buy lands to farm.
How about renting lands? Or the farmers could organize and move into forest or "no man's land" to farm.
I sometimes wonder why farmers don't take that risk to cut cost. They could even build temporary homes there to live close to the farms.

2139  Other / Off-topic / Re: Time Travel? on: February 26, 2021, 02:10:58 PM
Not possible for humans, but I believe only the true CREATOR can travel through time.

Time travel could however be faked. An entity that records lots of our activities on earth could replicate it and the time they happen, then get people they control to visit it in a very controlled manner to trick the minds into thinking they are actually traveling through time.

2140  Economy / Economics / Re: Great reset is done on: February 26, 2021, 10:44:54 AM
What great reset ? Wiping clean memory and records of past guilt, evil, corruption, evidences, mistakes etc .? I don't believe they can do that now. People will continue to remember and be given opportunity to choose the path they wish to follow before the evil that will come.
