1221  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 21, 2021, 05:53:33 PM
Things are coming back but not normal for most countries but we have to keep going especially for people that are living paycheck to paycheck and relies their food supplies with that.

Agricultural activities were never really impacted because the rural areas fared much better when compared to the urban areas, as far as the pandemic is concerned. And now most of the governments are opening up the economy, despite the recent spike from delta variant. They are of the opinion that the damage to the economy (if lockdown measures are implemented) will be much worse than the damage that the virus can cause. But I would differ. Even now, it is not safe to return to the offices.

Well, the lockdown wasn't really necessary for everyone and shouldn't be that strict. Those who can survive the disease should be allowed to go outside and work for society. Besides, I think if you are lockdown in your home the disease could still easily get you if you are not well protected.
As far as I can remember, the initial reason for the lockdown and those who opposed it weren't too sound in my opinion. One was about Herd Immunity while the other was about giving the virus enough time to disappear by restricting them to locations were they were prevalent via lockdown. Other important factors were ignored
1222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get married in the blockchain? on: September 21, 2021, 04:12:09 PM
Do the marriages take place on Blockchain alone? Or it is just to have some sort of Proof of Marriage registered permanently on the Blockchain? Assuming this's purely Blockchain marriage, what exactly is in the contract that makes it binding? What stops the couple from ignoring the contract/addresses and go their separate ways? How about witnesses
Marriage is more than mere financial reward and joining addresses together on smart contract . It's a union that is (or should be) hard to break. Intending couples really need to be sure about this
1223  Economy / Economics / Re: Are Renewable Energy sources the future? on: September 21, 2021, 03:27:24 PM
I doubt that the result from using renewable energy on the environment will be convincing enough to make the world rely on it completely. It's more like a drug everyone has high hope on but once the drug is not working as expected they don't depend on it too as a cure for their problems.
1224  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and protecting you wealth on: September 21, 2021, 02:56:13 PM
...
....
How would you defend yourself from inflation:
- Buy bitcoin
- Buy more commodities.
- Buy REITs or real state.
- Buy stocks of listed companies.
- Buy art.
- ... any other?

I think Bitcoin/crypto should be the foundation for preserving value for people who are more dependent on technology. So, you can buy those things listed below Bitcoin and have lots of them preserved in Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency for the sake of decentralization and other important features of Bitcoin. Centralization is part of what's is causing the economic failures but that doesn't mean Bitcoin will solve it all. There are lots of things that need to be done which have been mentioned on this forum several times that haven't been done yet.
If people know the truth about how valuable the forum is due to what IS here which they ignorantly ignore they would start taking the ideas shared in not-too-distant past very seriously. Our time is short. Don't be caught by the storm unexpectedly, because it will happen unexpectedly especially to those who didn't prepare.

1225  Economy / Economics / Re: Future economic fear of the rich and poor. on: September 21, 2021, 10:43:37 AM
A discussion to express your views and perspectives on the future economic fear between two class of people in the society, the rich and the poor.

-I have often heard that there's an even greater fear with getting money, who do you think has more fear about the future?

(A) The Rich man who has tasted the good things of life and enjoying the best, now he has to face the fear of the possibility of suddenly loosing all he possesses and becoming poor? Or

(B) The poor man who has not enjoyed anything in life yet, just surviving and facing the fear of an unknown future, thinking if he is ever going to be in a better position or the suffering is going to continue?

I don't know much about their experiences. I was never afraid of becoming poor or never becoming rich while growing up, because I knew back then I would live a comfortable life whether I'm rich or poor. Those things never really bothered.
I guess the kind of poor you are referring to is the poor who is needy, otherwise I don't see why a poor person who isn't needy should be suffering if he/she is doing the good works he/she is talented in and enjoy doing.. and earning enough to meet his/her daily needs that are "good things of life" .
1226  Economy / Economics / Re: New regulation in South Korea has forced several exchanges to close on: September 21, 2021, 10:38:46 AM
I wonder if this affects S. Koreans who use foreign exchanges,... if not, I guess rather than closing down, the exchangea should seek for licenses to operate in other countries, then the people from the country could continue with them..
I couldn't access the article in order to properly understand the issues/demands.
1227  Other / Off-topic / Re: My post collections on "Gambling Discussion" Section on: September 21, 2021, 10:04:16 AM
I totally believe that taking big Betting risk  or Gambling in Bets can be curtailed or minimized if we keep teaching people how to be responsible Bettor.
It actually heart breaking to see people complain about the problems they face due to gambling whereas they are numerous ways they can avoid the problems.

Hope this thread helps people who gamble in bets to learn how to be responsible and successful bettor without gambling or without taking big risk.

Below are My Post Collections on the Gambling Discussion Section:

1. Someone  posted: "Have you guys thought of ending the life after big losses. Right now my mind is thinking of ending the life. It all started with just $700. I lost it, and in the event of recovering those fund I went for a loan and deposited around $2500. Here my fate, I lost everything once again. Then the recovery value increased from $700 to $3200. Here once again I deposited $9000 borrowing. Now that too is lost. My mind keeps saying end the life, with your earning you can't repay the amount lost.
Sorry guys."

- My reply: Seems you are betting with what you can't afford to risk/lose. This is typically what gamblers do. ..They bet with what they can't afford to lose, then get sad when they lose it or start contemplating suicide.
I would advise that you learn to become skilled bettor or stick to betting occasionally with little amount until you  become consistently profitable.

Bet, but don't Gamble.
Gambling is not for smart and responsible people

Hello

So I was going through a story of a girl who literally stole 70,000 Euros to Gamble apparently it all started when she invested 20 Euro and won a thousand and since then she became addicted to easy money.
It made me realize that every now and then there is someone here sharing their addiction stories and it might help to have a particular thread for them to keep all the sources which could help them get their life straight again..
Here is a quote from BBC :-

- My reply and contribution:
What actually makes people addicted to things like games, sugar, drugs, etc is the fun/happiness they derive from them especially when they are sad. So, you need to make sure customers don't get addicted to your products/services by making them less flashy, less sweet, lessen the prize money (so they don't get attached to it) etc. The world is full of addicts who are addicted to movies, foods, games, money, flashy things, etc.
Important Tips for Betting Sites and other Businesses on the addiction issues:
Make your products/services safe and beneficial to customers. Better to have people addicted to very beneficial games,, foods, movies than have them addicted to dangerous ones. Make them good/safe and beneficial just incase your customers get addicted, the products and services will help them to be useful to their societies and themselves.
Also remember to promote Safe Bet

My Comment on kids and Gambling
Replying to the post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5359739.msg57928211#msg57928211
The thread seems to be locked

Kids needs to be guided always, unfortunately they are free thesedays instead of being under constant guidance. They get exposed to all manner of things which they would end up abusing or misusing. The bad ones shouldn't be shown to them at all. But they are bombard with them including, porn, gambling, bad foods, bad songs, bad games, etc
I don't support kids (or even adults) to gamble atall. No porn at all, even for adults

Betting sites should make sure that customers practice safe bet.
Kids should only access good betting sites through parental guidance

Bet but don't gamble.
1228  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm sharing my experience of harassment (two years) by cops in Aspen, CO... on: September 21, 2021, 09:05:39 AM
I think you should be sure that's intentional. If you know how the system works, you will understand that officers or others workers could be sent to a location by the one who controls them without them knowing exactly why. While the one who sent them knows exactly why he sent them there, maybe to intimidate people who are probably innocent. Should never conclude until your hear from them so you don't break the Holy commandment of "Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor". The commandments really help when dealing with difficult situations in life.
1229  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin MediCard, FoodCard, etc on: September 17, 2021, 05:04:57 PM
I wonder if people can collaborate with Hospitals, Food markets, etc to create Bitcoin Cards that Crypto users can buy and help sponsor people in need.
How it should work:
You buy a card that's loaded with bitcoins & can only be used by a person in need in a specific hospital or market. My only worry is that this can be abused in some ways, for example, you buy a food card for a person and he/she gets the food and sell it for money. How do we solve this problem?
To be honest, one of the main reasons I don't donate online thesedays is because of misuse of the donations. I want my donations to be used specifically for what they are meant for.
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are privacy coins destined to failure? on: September 17, 2021, 04:31:46 PM
Well, I think the right privacy coin could still succeed and be acceptable.
Transparency doesn't necessarily mean lack of privacy. Users private stuff could be cloaked but their activities should be transparent once they interacting with the public. immutablity and being anonymous (esp in public) will still be important in this case
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are 51% attacks legal? on: September 17, 2021, 04:11:57 PM
It's clearly immoral to attack and cheat a system that is  designed to prevent such attack & preserve values of honest participants. There are really many things that are moral and acceptable by honest people but not legalized, so it wouldn't be ok to attack them even if they aren't legal.   And there are many things that are immoral but legal and are still protected by governments.  The important is whether it's Right (Moral) or Wrong (Immoral ) to attack and steal things from people whether the things are legal or not
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Economists say each BTC transaction to 272g of waste on: September 17, 2021, 03:00:00 PM
I wonder where the ASICs are taken to after they are nolonger useful for mining Bitcoin? Are they thrown away, or are the parts used for something else?
I always believe the miners should be multi purposes.. . When they are nolonger useful for mining Bitcoin they can be used for something else or maybe the parts could be used for making other useful things. Things like that are  better when they have multiple uses.
Guess we could blame on lack of better tech that's energy efficient, multi-purpose, portable, less power hungry, last long and do more work with less hardware.
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto statue unvailing in Graphisoft Park (Hungary) on: September 17, 2021, 10:45:57 AM
Well, anyone can choose to represent Satoshi in any shape or form they like as long as it doesn't cause problems or people don't bow to the statue like it's done in some countries, which is pure abomination.
I also hope it doesn't portray a nagative image about Satoshi himself and other developers. An image of masked or hooded person would remind some people of hackers, robbers, etc. I would use another image for that reason alone or make the image look friendly. Face of smiling elderly man works for me... It markets (rather than de-market) Bitcoin well too
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The greedy must be poor on: September 17, 2021, 10:03:50 AM
Your use of "Must" in the title topic – The greedy must be poor–, makes it sound like you actually know how it will end, and that's regrettably not true. You think those who bought Bitcoin in 2010 and sold off when it touch $10 will agree with you on that or those who bought in Dec 2020 and sold before May 2021? Definitely, not....

I wanted to reply the poster directly to tell him/her not to assume that everyone who do not sell are greedy. There are holders with the right intentions, for example, holders who prefer to hold longterm and support the network. Besides, if everyone is selling at thesame time as the Op, he/she will likely not like the result on price.   The intention is what matter though. I guess his post is directed at those with wrong intentions, but they shouldn't be wished that kind of poverty with a "must". .
1235  Economy / Economics / Re: knowledge and Capital which is Very important in Business or Investment? on: September 17, 2021, 09:43:14 AM
Actually from a small capital, we can still do it and can develop it step by step until it becomes a high profit. This is where knowledge and insight can drive it. High capital is indeed important for higher results, but we don't need to force ourselves with each of our circumstances, at least we try our best and do everything as well as possible.
We know that success will not come instantly, and enjoying the process of success is means a lot.
While you can still have success with a small level of capital at the same time it is not as easy as it sounds, with a smaller capital you will still need to pay all the fees that exchanges charge you and this is a bigger burden the smaller your capital is, so you need to be careful when you are trading with such a small sum of money which means that your path to success will have to be even slower, which could lead to desperation and force you to make small mistakes that become huge when your capital is so small.
Doesnt really matter whether you do have big or small capital because what matter most is the risk management you do have and the consideration of those fees and other reductions along the way.

You should have knowledge and capital whether you do tend to make a business or investment since those are important factors where you do need to have in order to succeed or sustain this market.

Everything is important and should be on consideration because if you dont have these things then you would really be having some hard time in dealing with it.
And I disagree, it matters and it matters a lot, if you have a capital of 100 dollars and another trader has a capital of one million if you both make the same trade and you earn 1% you only earned one dollar while the other trader earned 10k, that is a massive difference in the outcomes, which means that your starting capital can be a huge factor when determining your success, obviously it is not everything as you still need the right knowledge but without it you cannot make any significant amount of money.
Its just common sense that difference of money or profit that they could take which is understandable because of the capital that had been put up.What matter most here is sustainability
because $100 could make it bigger if they do continue to be profitable but not on the point that it could really reached up that guy/trader that has a million of capital.Well, reality sucks but doesnt
mean that you should stop on reaching your goal.Knowledge is a must because if you dont have any idea on what you are doing then you are just basically doing some gambling stuff.

Ofcourse, the right knowledge lessens the risk. If you go into a business without the required skills and knowledge, the risk of failure will be high for you. Putting money you can't afford to risk without the right knowledge to succeed is actually gambling. You'll be taking big risk and betting with money you can't afford to risk in hopes of making good returns. The right knowledge minimizes the risk, or you can start small without the knowledge and eventually gain experience/knowledge doing the business

What happened to the father of the child/children? Is he still living? He should help you take care of your child/children.
I would advice you to depend on your CREATOR, HE definitely listens when we are sober or do what pleases HIM. HE will take care of you and be their FATHER too. Depend on HIM alone not humans.
I would advice you to listen to HIS Words always. It will guide and confort you. That's the support I can offer you on the internet. You can ask questions when necessary.

Wish you all the best.

1237  Economy / Economics / Re: How would Bitconia look like? on: September 16, 2021, 04:34:15 PM
I think the Network is already an independent body existing in cyberspace. It should be seen as a Autonomous Nation which works best for nomads or mobile users. That will be more compatible with its ideals
1238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are blockchains really decentralized? on: September 16, 2021, 04:17:42 PM
Hello everyone, I have a question. Solano Blockchain network was overload two days ago, how was it possible for the network to be shut down? Doesn't that mean Solana Blockchain is centralized?

I don't think it's right to blame Blockchain for that. I have researched in the past about Solana to see what's  made of, and whether it's decentralized or not, I haven't seen much. Before I use a cryptocurrency, I first of all check how easily I can run its full node and participate in the network.
The shutting down, for even an hour, not a good sign in my opinion.
1239  Other / Off-topic / Re: Believe in yourself on: September 16, 2021, 03:36:06 PM
It's actually a recipe for failure, and it's selfish. We should only believe or trust in what is Perfect. Only the CREATOR who is the source of all good things is Perfect, and it's HE we must believe in order for HIM to help us succeed
1240  Economy / Economics / Re: vitalik's contribution is also great on: September 16, 2021, 03:19:05 PM
He did well. Only wish he didn't allow Ethereum to be centered around him or anyone else that it becomes difficult for him to realize that certain proposals and decisions they've taken could centralized Ethereum and make it difficult for anyone interested in it to easily run  and fully participate in the Network.
I think he should also consider building Ethereum horizontally rather than vertically to avoid building Tower of Babel which would only work if it's centered around a king
