Where the heck is your proof you have this on hand?
2144  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 10, 2014, 03:55:18 AM
2016,2017 probably Smiley

I`m going to assume by that time, legit ventures are launched with bigger people trying to do it better.

Eg: making a better exchange then mt.gox

So for newbies are less afraid of bitcoin.

2145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help with wallet.dat? on: April 10, 2014, 12:19:06 AM
Wanted to follow up.

I read this: http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/05/guide-bitcoin-wallet-security/

and wanted to confirm steps 6 and 7 - it's not just for litecoin, but for all qt clients?

I bought the 3 USB flash drives it talks about in step 6. It then talks about Windows and Linux and how to find your wallet file, but I am on a Mac. Can anyone help me locate this? To add, I'm not sure what it's saying here exactly because it tells me to shutdown to client to save the backup from that location. But what I think I'm wanting to do is from the blackcoin client drop down menu, click "Backup Wallet" and save it to my usb flash drives. Yes? So then I can't shut it down first? They're talking about a different method to backup my wallet.dat file? And I should be offline to backup to the flash drives? And then I want to delete it (step 7) from my computer?

And to confirm, when I go to 'open' my wallet.dat file, my mac says application can't be found. So I can't open the file. Is this right? So how do I use it?

I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. Thanks again.

It depends on the # of transactions that are sent. If its more then 80, then you need to back up periodically every week.

I dont want to give you a long prevention list, but if you lost the balance already wondering with the wallet.dat file like most do, its because few mention about # of transactions take a vital role.

Explanation: Alice generated enough change addresses to overflow the original pool of 100. On the 100th spending transaction, Bitcoin-Qt moved Alice's change (which happend to be her entire balance) into an address not in the backup. Restoring the backup only restored empty addresses.

Recovery:
Even if a hard drive can't boot an operating system, individual files can still be recovered. Using data recovery tools, Alice may be able to salvage the Bitcoin-Qt wallet from the faulty hard drive, and with it her lost funds.

Prevention:

Count the number of manually-created addresses and spending transactions since your last backup. If this number is greater than about 80, back up again. Weekly backups might be enough for most users.
Set a very high value (e.g., 10,000) for the -keypool option, either as a command line parameter, or in the bitcoin.conf file.
Switch to a deterministic wallet.
2146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to show balance per address in wallet? on: April 09, 2014, 02:23:51 PM
Before all this helping with you w. that. Did you update to the new latest bitcoin qt 0.9.1. If not, download it and install it before your wallet gets a chance of getting compromised.

2148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core (Bitcoin-Qt) 0.9.1 released - update required on: April 09, 2014, 05:14:12 AM
So glad my balance is still there, after the update.

2149  Other / Off-topic / Re: I need a job on: April 09, 2014, 02:51:43 AM
If I can recommend something, try to learn from other peoples mistakes.

Eg: You mentioned about the alcohol and everything. Learn from drunks and people who are abusing it, and see the result of where most people are if they are better or worse off.

As for the job situation, if you think the pay isnt worth the workload you do, then switch to something else?

You have a choice.. obviously the hind sight to this conversation would be looking for something while transferring to something else.

2150  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you were really hungry could you survive by looking at pics of food? on: April 09, 2014, 02:20:36 AM
Simple answer, no lol.

I`d give it like a couple seconds of looking at the pic, then running to my car and driving to the get that pizza.

2152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC mining worth it? KnC Neptune on: April 08, 2014, 02:47:45 PM
Its all based on the price you buy and the performance which hardware you purchase.

Then factoring the days if the product is delayed or on time to mine with.
2153  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Quantity: 2 Butterfly Labs 600GH Monarchs pre-order for sale on: April 08, 2014, 02:25:09 PM
Just a tip, since you already purchased these. You`ll have more chances on ebay, and if you cant sell it then I`d suggest waiting for on-hand.

Because they started other > archival section from the start of the thread.
2155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Problems with Bitminter client on: April 08, 2014, 03:58:35 AM
Anytime the bitminter client isnt picking up BFL miner, I usually just restart until it does. But as for reading it at all, the first time is installing the serial port driver to make it recognized. Just like the person above me said.

2156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin safe to use? on: April 08, 2014, 02:56:22 AM
Mt Gox is the past. lol. I`m sure most venture capitals who are on fence of doing bitcoin right, now knows what to expect.

I mean, if anything the bitcoin community is molding forward and this just starts a better foundation for people trying to do it right.
2157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: slow mining on: April 08, 2014, 01:26:32 AM
Regardless of which pool, you need some serious hardware to mine bitcoin directly
2158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC-E Account All Coins Stolen on: April 08, 2014, 12:52:08 AM
Just read your story, on the unfortunate incident.

It seems like you got the email phishing thing going on, but the wtf moment is when you mentioned the email being not in the inbox.

Unless they can delete it from your side, using the same pw if its used for your email account. But thats scary, how all the coins just disappeared like that, esp the converting part kinda ripped me.

I been scammed before, so I know the shitty feeling..  Undecided

But, I think when you clicked on the deny part, then login in maybe that recorded some type of keylogging?
2159  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 200GH/s for $500 | Inventory control quick sale | Limit 5 per customer on: April 07, 2014, 03:05:53 PM
You need pictures of your inventory w. ID. Plus stating you`ll do a escrow transaction, or I dont think this will last.
2160  Economy / Services / Re: Buy your amazon product with BTC! on: April 07, 2014, 06:58:35 AM
There is some services where you could use bitcoin for amazone and some other online and offline stores.
Your OP is not so clear what actually you want? of what actually are you offering?

il buy whatever you need with my amazon account for BTC! plus il take lower offers since the btc price could always skyrocket! so basically im buying you stuff off amazon for a lower price and taking a risk that the price will go back up Wink
Why we use your service and what will be the security for our btc?
By the way how much price you offer for a btc while buying products of amazon?

well we can use an escrow, and also il use the current preev rates at time of trade
If we have trusted company with a huge amount of trading experience and fast services there is no point to choose your services.
May be if you have some special like Cheap product then Amazone or Highest Price for BTC then that was fine if now there is no any point to use your services.
By the way i do use my BTC for Amazone, Walmart, Staples and other various website from Snap Card

I was just about to say whats the point of the service, if theres snap card. lol. And its a company that does it for you, not some random stranger..
