What exchange can I short xmr on?

Poloniex. And thanks for the liquidity.  Short a bunch IMHO.

Still plenty XMR left to borrow, please, come and get it!
2162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 09:24:40 PM
volume over 80k btc.  If I woke up to this from 10 days ago I would try to get back to sleep and continue that dream Grin
2163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 04:11:50 PM
70k btc  24h volume.  Is that a first, or did it happen during my nap, as well?
2164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 03:55:50 PM
Simple question and yes, I have looked around.

Can I make a paper wallet (generated offline) and then recover it using MyMonero?  Or just use the spend keys without a wallet?

I am on Mac and cannot use simple wallet, bitmonerod etc - I can't do terminal / command line stuff either.

I have tested sending a couple of XMR to an offline paper wallet and sure - it works, but just found I have no way of getting it back.  I have all keys - but need to make a wallet to recover to - and I just can't.

Pointers appreciated as I really need to get my XMR offline and safe in as cold a storage method as poss.  Apologies for being an idiot - but I cannot code and have never owned a PC...

Don't laugh and I know I shoudl look elsewhere, but I have spent hours and cannot find a simple solution (for me).

Can you sit back and wait just a little longer for SoonTM?  GUI should ease your way, though I managed to figure out the CLI, despite my general lack of compooter experience.  Just dive in. there's lots of help here when you get stuck.

Funny to see all the big talking trolls out, but next to no shorts on the books  Tongue
Still riding some short loans above 0.5% from way back.  Someone not attending events?  Or just sweating with fingers crossed for... what?
2166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 03:40:28 PM
lol monero that shitcoin is pumped and soon it will be dumped hard

You are still out there, are you?  Still waiting for 0.0005?
2167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 03:38:25 PM
Sold all my XMR @ .0121 avg, 572btc worth. Will buy it all back at .005 Smiley

The fact that you could do that now (572 btc sells) without tripping the market on its face is awesome.
2168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 03:37:13 PM
I think you might be even in better position than me (I assume my average buying price is somewhere around 0.002-0.003 btc), and I do not have any excess amounts of Moneros but enough to become very wealthy if this boy starts a rock'n'roll (in my opinion it  hasn't even started yet).
to be fully honest, my average is lower than you but my stash is tinier too!
i'm not in the 10k range, only on the few k range (i don't complain, i'm happy with it)
and it's easier to lowerer your average buy on smaller amount

Sorry, if your average is below .002  it's gonna be somewhat difficult to lower it now, no matter how small the stash.  Assuming you want to grow it, and not shrink it.
2169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 03:35:14 PM
The XMR volume on polo is currently 50K....that is (by my rough calculation) about three times more than the sum of the volume of all the other coins combined.

I had to duck out for a few hours sleep, but now 24h volume has topped 68k btc.  Wild.
2170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 08:25:47 AM
Still nearly 5000 btc bids.  Not so steep as it was earlier, but impressive.
I have to sleep some time, I suppose now is good, while there is a lull in the excitement.  Only 10K XMR per minute volume.   Tongue
2171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 07:54:00 AM
It's pretty hard to believe, but 100k of XMR just got offered.

These alt-coin speculators have been burned and scammed so many times, they are functionally insane.  Like an abused child adopted by a caring family, they just can't cope with the concept of real value.

Well, it had to happen.  We need to stabilize around 012 for a bit before we can take another leg up, otherwise Rangedriver will have underestimated.  And that could never happen, as we know.

So call me an addict, but I think I'll bid a few k at 1180ksat, in case it dips a bit.

OK looks like we're done here.  All Aboard!
2172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 06:51:09 AM
Is this an Exit pump before the release of ZCASH

Looks so

Wow, good eye!  Get out while you can!

Last week went from .004 to .008 pretty sharpish....wondering if this week we just plough through from .01 to .02

Aminorex was spot of about this weekend 'coin of the hour'.   I guess it will settle at some point - maybe the end of the weekend will cool it off?

OTOH a lot of serious money will only see this on Monday....  The market cap pushing towards the 100 million level is huge news.

Everything just changed - and I haven't had this much fun in crypto since 2103

Me neither --- just hope there isn't the equivalent of 2014 round the corner

Agreed - but we're a little wiser now.  And Polo isn't (touch wood) Gox.

More exchanges will list XMR now - they will not like Polo taking all the action on this kind of volume.  They are losing out if they don't.

Yes, I can't imagine the profits being made at polo right now.  And of course, adoption by a new exchange usually sees a coin increase in value even further.  Seems we are on a virtuous circle now.

The problem is more that I can't name a 'good' exchange that might step in -  Stamp has no interest in alts, BTCe perhaps, Finex not after the exploits of late, which leaves the Chinese exchanges.... Undecided Undecided

I requested some help with a p2p exchange earlier (thanks for all the replies guys!!)....anyway, realised it was bitsquare.  I'd like to see them open up a direct XMR <>USD/GBP/EUR facility.

Kraken remains
2174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 06:40:49 AM
I was just looking at the weekly chart with a volume in XMR of over 16.1 million  XMR during this week, vs a total supply of approximately 12.8 million XMR. There most be a very significant amount of short margin been used to meet demand here.

Doesn't look to be a tremendous amount of shorts.  I've been watching lending closely all week, and available coins are at their highest level, asking moderate prices. Come on down  Grin
2175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 04:52:15 AM
ATH will be tested within a couple of days minutes I think, with a lot of little resistance of course ....
FTFY
LOL  I began to make the same reply, but deleted it.
incredible!
2176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 01:06:39 AM
.01 seems to be a barrier unbroken as of yet, amirite?

.009714 an hour ago.    Only matter of time.  And a short time at that, me thinks.  That market depth graph on polo.  Shocked

Sellers  must be rethinking and pulling asks.  Its only prudent.
2177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2016, 12:39:10 AM
BUY ORDERS Total: 4021.51788506 BTC

Never saw this before. Well was never 3k till few days ago either.

2178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 27, 2016, 11:48:09 PM
It's pretty cool to get off a 45 minute flight, get a cafe mocha on ice with Bailey's at the skyclub, turn on the phone and find your largest asset is worth 16% more than it was when you last checked at the afternoon picnic.  I recommend the experience.

Taking a quick break on a working Saturday to check is also smile inducing.  I've been grinning all afternoon, can't help it  Grin  .0093 anyone?
2179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 27, 2016, 11:31:06 PM
Fuck I was still waiting for the dip... should have just bought at 0.0067..... now it feels too high at 0.0083  Sad

Regardless, watching the chart on bitcoinwisdom is pretty entertaining right now. Not sure if I should buy more, sell some, or just wait and see... Huh

Yeah guys it takes a while to wrap your head around the new normal.  I resigned to buy today @735 and then it creeped up to 750 and then BAM.  Now what do I do? maybe it will come down again.  Hummm.  Fuck that, FOMO.  Bought @ 808 Grin  Oh wait it's 873 right now Grin Grin  This is still just accumulation Cool   Cheap coinz Tongue

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYeWnbmFUhQ

After getting 500-1000 per btc  for so long, it burns a little to receive only a hundred and a bit.  Maybe I have enough already.

Nah!!!!
2180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 27, 2016, 10:44:34 PM
Guessing some shorts got burned, as the available loans are up ~30k
