2181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is 100% faith on: February 17, 2021, 03:46:14 PM
"100% faith" not consistent with Bitcoin/crypto Ideal of "don't trust but verify". Faith in the system sounds like what centralized and opaque systems would encourage
I will only have that kind of faith in a Perfect BEING. And you can't have faith in things made by humans... they can't be perfect no matter how well built.
I'd expect problems and hope it get solved  when necessary. I believe that is part of the reasons it's transparent, immutable, encourages checks & balance, etc for the security , monitoring and verification of things that happen within the network by participants.
2182  Other / Off-topic / Here is an idea how you are part of the "Matrix" on: February 17, 2021, 02:20:31 PM
If you work for the system and controlled by it, you are part of the Matrix. You don't have to work in government or corporations to serve the Matrix. If you live the kind of live they want you to live or do the kind of businesses/jobs they want you to do, then you are working & contributing to the system. It's an evil system and the only way out is be broken free and be protected by a far Superior/Benevolent BEING .
The evil one controls the Matrix and basically uses those under his control to run this world. You are basically serving the evil one if you work for him and do his will. Lots of people would rather work for the him than serve the Real CREATOR of this World nor let HIM rule over them.

Currently, people who work for the system  are working intentionally/unintentional to hand full control of earth over to the one who controls the matrix. You are helping satan take full control of our world by your deeds, actions, inaction.
2183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decreasing Bitcoin price volatility on: February 17, 2021, 10:58:25 AM
Better to decentralized things that affect the price. I would avoid anything that can centralized (or potentially centralized) Bitcoin in any way. I believe a system/org that regulates price should be very Transparent, decentralized, Based on Good rules approved via Consensus, and is bounded by other important Bitcoin Principles.

The Right System should keep the price volatility moderate without necessarily changing anything on the main Network/System.
2184  Economy / Economics / Re: Economist predicts demise of global central banks on: February 17, 2021, 10:31:04 AM
the banking system can be replaced by something new, but the essence will not change. The states need a banking system and until nothing new has been invented, it will exist under the states and the states will invariably protect it. Therefore, in general, the banking system is not threatened. Periodic economic crises only lead to the recovery of the global economy.
I believe we could build a "peoples bank" type of situation and that is exactly what we need that will change the world. This way what we can achieve is that there will be one decentralized bank type of situation that everyone holds their own money in their own accounts but it will be shown in numbers how big we are in numbers, so if there is billions of dollars there people would know how strong we are and how we can affect change.

In return if governments try to destroy the economy by making themselves richer and trying to get votes and ruin the economy, then we wouldn't be affected because we have our own bank and our own money in crypto showing the world that they could ruin it however they want, they will not make us poor again, we are going to grow in power and get richer and richer while central banks keep losing value and worth and become useless.

I think badly run financial institutions will eventually pay the price. Well decentralized, transparent, immutable, censorship resistant, permissionless, deflationary, consensus-based, rule-based.. financial system/network will be used by people it is Willed by GOD to use. Anyone/anything that tries to go against GOD's Will is evil and will be exposed and face the consequences of their evil actions.
GOD have mercy on them and help them do what is just/right.
2185  Other / Off-topic / Re: London buses, football pitches, olympic-sized swimming pools on: February 17, 2021, 10:10:55 AM
I commonly heard that swimming pools and Football pitches from the news as well but also I think I heard people used the size of Elephants to measure things that are too huge. Cheesy

I have heard people use the elephant comparison here too. Most likely exaggerations... and I believe the society where things are said that way usually know they are exaggeration. I have heard people say someone is as tall as a particular tree. "The lady is as big as an elephant" is occasionally used here too. Many of them probably exaggerate that way to get people to understand the importance/magnitude of the things they are describing. And society that use them seems to know it's an exaggeration. They assume that the exaggerated things cannot do or be what they are compared with

It's Important to let people know when to use such exaggerations and when not to use them. Not a good idea to use them when communicating to  people who expect you to be precised when comparing things, or people who won't understand that they are exaggerations. It important to "highlight" when using them for publications, and it's also  important to also highlight even if you are sending them to people who are aware they exaggerations ... because they could be misinterpreted if accessed by people they aren't meant for.
I prefer to be precised when comparing, unless maybe I don't see/know any publicly known things to compare with. I still try to be very precised when using the non-public things that are probably known by me alone.
2186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you rely on the odds when placing bets? on: February 17, 2021, 09:33:14 AM

I view odds as nothing but representation of majority view towards a certain event. And that makes odds very very manipulative. In 2016, people's opinion of Donald Trump winning was so low, and it's like a cycle, people thought Trump won't win, the odds adjusted themselves, and people after seeing the odds believed it more. In sports, odds become much more dangerous to trust, because there is a huge luck factor as well, even the strongest player can get injured!

In sports it is also the result of the latest events of this or that team... For example, if an outsider suddenly wins several games in a row by chance, then his odds will increase in the following games...

But that does not guarantee that team will win again because we know that the other team will not give up if they see their opponent have high odds. They will try to give the best performance in the field, and they will beat the opponent even if they do not have high odds. Maybe if we have the other info about the next match and know which team really has a chance to win, we do not have to confuse to select the team, even if that team is weak because the weak team can surprise the audience.

Interesting. I believe there will be very talented/skillful bettors who understand or see what the crowd doesn't see. The strong ones will end up betting oppsite of what the crowd believes has low/high chances. A true outcome will result to win for them on fair betting site.

2188  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it weird to wake up 2 hours before anybody else to have time alone? on: February 16, 2021, 06:34:01 PM
I actually prefer to wake up around that time for almost thesame reason.

I guess people won't feel very comfortable when they notice you have been awake on thesame bed with them while they were sleeping, Or they just find it weird/non-random that you regularly stay awake around that time while everyone was asleep, Or they're probably concerned that something may be bothering you, etc .

I think telling her why you stay awake around that time will make things easy for both of you. It's important you don't get misunderstood by her.

Just seeing this post for the first time.
Was wondering if this happened to you this year February 14th or the past year/years, then I noticed the date on your post.

Glad to know you are doing fine now.
2190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Human-Readable crypto addresses - Custom usernames on: February 16, 2021, 03:54:45 PM
I agree. They should be easy to type and memorize. The current long addresss can be quite intimating to use especially for the new users. Problem like that could easily be solved within Wallets.  You could have a Wallet provider with lots of users who can simply send people their usernames and get them to send them coin through thesame wallet provider. Users should be able to also buy and sell crypto within the wallet, so they don't ever have to worry about sending crypto to the long address from another wallet.
I guess the wallet provider could prevent impersonation or identity theft by requiring users with names of popular people to prove they are really the popular personalities. Those that share thesame names with the popular personalities could just choose different usernames so that many people don't get misled into thinking they are the popular ones.
2191  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the potential side effects of corporations selling fake crypto? on: February 16, 2021, 02:53:24 PM
They literally just inflate their assets by essentially borrowing your funds in exchange of an 'agreement' that they are holding something for you. If they cannot provide withdrawals for 'your crypto' that you bought from them, there probably isn't one to begin with. While I do agree that PayPal taking part in the crypto scene is bringing things closer to people, it also has its own demerits, especially the one that people aren't able to actually hold their coins. The experience is very limited to just buying and selling right now, though I hope that PayPal would soon provide actual withdrawals for their customers to get the full experience of being a bitcoin owner through the simplicity offered by PayPal's platform.

The strange practice of not letting customers withdraw their coins sound worst than using fiat currencies on traditional banks. Atleast the banks allow people to withdraw their funds inform of physical currency like paper. Guess people will simply convert the "crypto" to fiat and withdraw them physically if they can't withdraw them to their crypto wallets outside of PayPal space.
By the way, this one the the reasons people should be suspicious of cashless economy, especially on centralized platforms.
2192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When did you learn about crypto, and how fast did you get comfortable with it? on: February 16, 2021, 10:56:53 AM
I probably used Bitcoin for the first in 2016, and really liked what I read about it when I started visiting faucets. It almost sounds like a community-owned, peer-to-peer bank/currency that is decentralized and censorship resistant. Really like alot of the terms/metaphors used in describing Bitcoin back them... like transparency(was compared to transparent/glass bank vault) , immutablity, etc.  Learning it was actually very easy for me mainly due to the fact it was taught in smplified manner, it's compared with things that are well known like precious metal mining, coins etc...and it also solved very important problems that bothered me about building on centralized internet and using centralized platforms
2193  Economy / Economics / Re: What Are NFTs? on: February 16, 2021, 09:58:13 AM
just sharing thoughts!

I think this year NTFs will become a trend (just for self-preparation), the trend is over with DeFi and NFTs have not shown a trend since 2015 (since the beginning it is implied).

In the Bitcoin world, the non-fungible token is called a "colored coin": https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Colored_Coins
Grin

In regards to the Odolvlobo post you quoted, I think thesame could be said of something like Holding & Staking. Instead of reinventing the wheel, you could simply replace the word Stake with Hold in Bitcoin World and make things work like typical staking. An investor buy some bitcoin, hold, timelock for certain period of time and earn extra income from future increase in price of Bitcoin... Or the investors could be paid with another coin/token during the holding/staking period. This could even earn better than staking on coins that are not that scarce or don't increase in price like Bitcoin.

By the way, I wonder what they didn't continue with the colored coins.
2194  Other / Off-topic / Re: in what business would you invest ? on: February 16, 2021, 09:17:32 AM
First commodity is still the best , But now at this moment it is livestock is what our country's demand .

The price of Meats are increasing like Cow,Pork,Chicken and Fish .

the price increase almost double and the demand is really going up high.

I recently notice some increases in the price of egg where I live. I do not notice this with meat yet.
I think most people should try subsistence farming in order to individually increase the production of foods rather than relying on big or few farmers. Unfortunately, it can be quite challenging to farm in towns or cities, unless you find free lands or buy/rent lands which could be expensive in certain parts of cities/towns.
2195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where is the most appropriate place to hide & survive during a global dictatorship. on: February 16, 2021, 08:48:26 AM
I think the answer is: where they can't easily access & control.
I would avoid using their technologies/infrastructures, or avoid using technologies they understand & are familiar with.

The technology part is why I'm seriously considering things that are open source & decentralized... both in hardware and software areas.

I wouldn't be running away from things they control in one country and going to another country to live where there are infrastructures/technologies they can potentially control
It is impossible to hide under anything in this world, probably on Mars?

Why we need to hide and survive from who? Talking about skynet? Roll Eyes

I assume you think everything on earth is (or will be) known and understood by the dictators\tyrants?
Well, there are people who will be kept safe during their tyrannical reign and safe from the problems people will be plaqued with on earth. An invisible LORD who made this World will keep them safe. HIS name is JESUS CHRIST and HE is a Good LORD. Any one who believes in HIM will be kept safe too.
Ofcourse, there are believers who will be killed when their time on Earth is up. Others will be be "taken away" alive together with the killed believers.

Why we need to hide and survive from who? Talking about skynet?
I don't really know about skynet, maybe I have watched it before but don't remember anymore.  This is about very reliable prophesies about what will take place on earth in a not-too-distant future. It's gradually being fulfilled in this world and has been very reliable.
I believe those in position of authority, researchers, and others are aware of what is going on and have developed/developing plans to counter it. Unfortunately this will only lead to drastical changes that will end up getting mankind more enslaved to an evil entity. Besides they won't be able to solve the problems. It's way beyond them.
2196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If a project gets too complicated on: February 12, 2021, 05:15:43 PM
I usually assume that certain people who don't know much about crypto and its technical side would invest in projects with sophisticated words , that sound professional and complicated.
I actually prefer projects that can be very easy to understand by anyone, so that it won't be hard to understand by people who wish to be part of developing and securing the them. .
2197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does any project use the power of all the unused smartphones worldwide? on: February 12, 2021, 04:24:55 PM
Ofcourse.
I stopped discarding my phones few years ago for thesame idea and other reasons. I believe smartphones would be one of the most important tech to continue thriving with in the time of serious crisis and when the internet  shuts down or something. Laptops would probably be used occasionally for mobility reasons and energy conservation.
So, I tend to focus more on mobile phones when planning the development of decentralized projects.

If  you could create a decentralized mobile application that runs as node and anyone could participate in through Wi-F/Bluetooth, you would solve the problem. The app has to be decentralized, transparent, immutable, censorship resistant, privacy-friendly/anonymity-friendly, etc.
2198  Other / Off-topic / Re: London buses, football pitches, olympic-sized swimming pools on: February 12, 2021, 03:56:48 PM
Where I live, regular people would normally use things they are familiar with for comparing the measurement of something they're trying to describe. They rarely use the units of measurement as far as I can tell.
They would say something like "The man's living room is as big as our compound",   "The boy is as tall as this standing fan" etc..
I've probably noticed the local news people combined units of measurement with things people are familiar with while describing something. Not sure how often they do that.
2199  Economy / Economics / Re: In crypto everybody pay high tx fee, no matter rich or poor people on: February 12, 2021, 03:26:59 PM
Interesting.

Fees in crypto world is supposed to be fairer than stock market.

Anyway, I guess the Ethereum fee model is based on about 0.01% fee per eth transaction? . If fees really cost that much, that would mean the fee for transferring the 1000 ETH is about $17,500.

Well, one of the reasons for the invention of Bitcoin/crypto is cut out the middle men in order to help make fee cheaper than traditional banks.. .And the fee market is supposed to be competitive.   Been abit long i transacted on Ethereum, so I don't really know how the fee really works now. I imagine it will be possible to adjust the fee percentage to maybe down to about 0.0001% and you still get a reasonablly fast transaction. Hope that is possible. It should be.
2200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 12, 2021, 10:29:05 AM
That sounds like tyranny, and they are most likely overstepping their boundaries. Reminds me of a post I read about US making ownership of Gold criminal offense 30years ago or so. I guess If you dig up gold back then and keep it, you'll are considered a criminal?
I wouldn't bother too much if the Indians are limited from buying to much to prevent the devaluation of the Nation's fiat currency. But asking people not to own a currency/asset at all sounds like lawlessness and tyranny.
