2201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: August 07, 2018, 08:04:21 PM
Obelisk sia issue is very bad. Will never get your money back. I thinks it's better to leave in box, wait 10 years and sell it as a special collectable in crypto pow history.

yep, you are likely correct. Without some OTHER blake2b coins, with 'hopefully' some useful coin 'hooks/enhancements' to mine

as well, we are 'crap out of luck'.  Then we get to the 'elephant in the room' for sia-tech themselves....there will be SOME who

run the ASIC's, thus IMHO, blowing out anyone still GPU mining this coin. What happens if, those that do mine siacoin with the ASIC's

at a loss then decide they can't make enough for electric and then they too walk? How can you have a siacoin network with NO ONE

LEFT TO MINE, because you are in a loss daily per electric via coin. That is what has the sia-tech people up at night, not that we

got screwed.

Why are there no other Blake(2b) coins out there anyway? SIA probably wouldn't be so overmined if there were other options available.

I don't have the skills, I know of no one who has the skills or I'd be all over making a new blake2b coin. The catch is it has to have

(the coin) a good 'hook' ..ie it has to do something of note ...or you are just mining 'air' because the coin is blah...

but, again, you'd THINK, if they could FORK the ASIC's as they said (on the bitmain threat) they could at least have an optional

protocol besides blake2b you coin make a coin of and mine..but then that would hurt anyone mining siacoin in that we would

all 'walk/run' to this new coin ....with NO difficulty....as an example, if I'm going to mine AIR, at a complete loss with electric..I'd

rather mine a coin, at the start, with NO difficulty and get lots of worthless coins on a hunch..then lots of worthless siacoin

on the reality of 'no chance' for profit.

Actual, Unicorns are possible when you look at all the hooks of getting a new blake2b coin off the ground..but hey a guy can wish

2202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: August 07, 2018, 01:31:14 PM
Reminds me of the KnCMiner company.

They came out with a great miner KnCMiner Jupiter, delieverd on time, and people made a killing because BTC went to like $1100 from $200 during that time.

Then they released the KnCMiner Neptune on pre-order, and basically delivered late.... very late. So late that by the time most people received them, they just put them right on eBay because it wasn't worth turning on.

In knc’s case, they used 9 month preorder $$$ to spend 3 months filling data hall first

Thus Neptune was obsolete about 3-4 months later. A 3/4 loss. Obelisk has that beat 100%

Loss from day one.

At the NORMAL summer rate in the USA of about 12c kWh. You still make +$0.10 cents a day! or make +$3.00 a month!

Living the dream! (FML).

Again, even if they do nothing more than replacing the GPU's on the network. It is NOT worth taking them out of the box,

not to mention wasting a PSU on them each.

Oh well, after taxes I lost 1.11 BTC at the height last year. (like $4,550.00 or some such in real money back then).

It is kind 'odd' though IF they really had a way to FORK with the tweak they claim with this ASIC, (as they told Bitmain)

you'd think, at this point in time, they would use that FORK option for a new coin option from scratch...just to get some

traction. Likely, such a 'hook' never existed and was just talk. But now would be the time to use that and/or make a NEW

blake2b coin of some type. Again unlikely. Again, leave them in the box and use as bookends...

Live and learn I guess.

For certain purposes it's necessary to determine the logical cross-bearings of the concepts which we take for granted. But honestly, is there a single not obvious thing in here. You really thought I needed a reintroduction to basic financial literacy by way of cringe-y homespun wisdoms?

Now I'm even more morose!

Aww, don't go down that road. It's closed anyway.

What do you mean exactly by "show your support" ?  Is applying for an KYC and participating in the pre-sale (if we pass,of course) enough support  Grin? 10 percent bonus if we invest with lsk tokens, i can live with that  Cool

Does me little good if USA citizens are banned....(not that I'd do so..just saying that kinda stops a fella from reading further into this)

Lisk recovered but price is still too low. 2018 is the year of lisk. This is the right time to buy.

How often do you guys think about bitcoin & what it will (hopefully) do for you in x amount of years time?

Me & my partner own an online female clothing business but seriously I can’t wait for bitcoin to reach $50,000 - $100,000 per bitcoin so I can stop doing mundane shit & managing dumb ass women in the office every day.

I think I check the price about 20 times a day. I’m in my early 30’s, fucking hurry up bitcoin, I have a new life in my head that I’m anxious to make a reality.

When fucking MOON?

Cheesy

Alas, a 'watched bitcoin' never boils ..it seems....(doomed if that is the case...I stalk the price every day) Sad

Daily EMA about to cross - things will get worse before they get better.

Good God this is bad all the way around. Even trying to mine shitcoins with my desktop is pathetic. (Well, it always was kind of pathetic, but now even more so.)I have been tempted to buy a z9 mini miner for months; but with the way things are going, it would probably only be good as a space heater by the time it arrives. Cry I'm not even sure that I can hold out until November when I will be able to buy a White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks, with what is left of my Bitcoin stash.(And we all know the November date is the absolute best possible outcome, which does not appear to be the trend at the moment.)

I myself am trying to self hypnotize myself that it is January 2017 and this 7x price

Is just dandy. Not working, must drink more to further drive my denial.

Quote
Befuddled to where all the Titan's for sale went in the past....

Free bump!  The post is too funny. Guess they placed them in storage or probably thrashed them by kicking them about when the L3s came about.

my current 'theory' is that they are like my 2013 KNC Jupiter that got me in the day (2013) 53 BTC before

retiring.....I got offers to sell it for $200 or $300 bucks..but could NOT sell my 'precious' ...too much fun to

see it on a shelf in the Bsmt and just 'grin'.

So I suspect for 'individual' miners with a couple knc titans or so..it is the same, most knc titans

probably made on average 1,000 or more LTC in the lifetime.

LTC back in the day. Averaged out between their start of existence and the many owners they may

have had.

Thus, the same logic as my knc Jupiter BTC miner...most folk are likely using the cubes as 'bookends' or

trophies on shelves.

Thus every time they walk by them they 'grin' at how they scored on LTC etc (back in the day)

As to the really big institutional users of KNC titans, hell they likely have trashed them or lost them in a

warehouse, like below:

frigging morphed to Unicorns, they did Smiley Probably again, can't sell 'my precious' with their LTC made

that they made, that would be 'heresy' and piss off the ASIC gods indeed!

whatever

Shitcoins are in the toilet. How do we feel about this then?

Sounds like an appropriate venue.

depends on the sh*tcoin and  when you got them ...LISK ICO in 2016? was berry, berry good to me.

we will see...but the alt coins I'm blowing for then next 2.5 years till full retirement are for this purpose to live off of

since retire jan 14 2018..the BTC is still in FULL HODL mode....

anyway, we will see if my sh*tcoin angle to bridge till full retire and traditional investments etc works out or not

a BTC pump would be nice to bring my sh*tcoins up in price ...don't ya know Smiley

I still have a couple of miners running.
At merely 125 Satoshi per SC, I am not going to sell a single coin.

I still believe this is a promising project, hopefully, the Dev team will do something.
'

the catch is I can make more siacoin by just taking the $$$ I'd pay in electric and BUY siacoin then I could mine with the ASIC

+/- say 50c a day more with the obelisk is all.

makes  more sense to keep my PSU's for other uses and keep the units virgin in the box and just play that game in my mind

same amount of siacoin ...again more or less....

not sure I'm even going to do that much to promote the coin

i still suspect what obelisks do mine will blow out the GPU's and then own the network at an electric loss to mine..thus

the network they envision for cloud mining better be up in the next couple months or the ASIC's may go off as well....it all

has to blend together to pull this off IMHO. Also promotion..where is the promotion of the cloud vision and cost savings?

still 'deafening silence' on all this...would be nice if something worked on this but unlikely

also ibelink is releasing a 7 TH decred miner shipping august 1st ...so the decred units will likely be toast as well

brad
2216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: July 30, 2018, 04:30:51 AM
Lets talk about the final SIA product, lets put the asic mining story in a second plan please

We need the final cloud decentralized product to ern real money, so, devs, please, do something

That is the part of the sia-tech plan that is unclear..they claim to have a network in place, by the time the ASIC's hit to

take on Amazon Cloud and such, but I see NO promotion or movement in that area at all.

Thus, without a viable network the whole works comes to a grinding halt. Without promotion or the fact the network

works and is up...if NO ONE (consumer) knows about it, even if it is 10c to $1 vs Amazon's Cloud...all will be moot.

Add a mess of ASIC's, most of which not being worth turned on, on top of the fact of the rest replacing GPU miners

that merge mine sia coin...with the next result of the rest of the ASIC's being turned off also.

Well, it all hinges on promotion and such of the decentralized cloud network...and I just don't see it arriving in time

to make any difference on the above. The loss of GPU merge miners to the ASIC's (cheerleaders for siacoin gone) then

the next result of 'the rest of' the ASIC's that were up ..trying to mine siacoin ..still can't make electric..and they are shut

off as well.

Just too damn quiet on all fronts...I think sia-tech realizes they have screwed up.

I don't think an ETF will get done this year 2018 or next year 2019. It just is not possible for the political reasons below.

It would require a 'bureaucratic institution" to 'stamp' BTC as 'legit money', so to speak.

With the current dysfunction in D.C., how would they even make that determination without feedback from the Trump Administration?

So with NO clarity of intent of any kind, this will continue 'forever'. It is the safe bet to 'deny' it is a risk to the SEC's reputation to

confirm, even if the confirmation would only result in the current administration chastising them, why take the risk. Group Think at its best.

It seems a lot and I mean a lot more adoption and acceptance will have to happen first, I just don't see this happening this year
