2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Private key to bitcoina ddress on Windows 95 on: January 20, 2014, 09:41:40 PM
I didn't read all posts, but seriously windows 95 ? why ?

if you are just playing around and not that you cant afford a new PC that can run windows 7 or Ubuntu 12.04 then I really want to know why Win95 ?

if you are from EU and if you can not afford a new PC I can donate a used machine that I do not use anymore, it has a Core2Duo 2.33 GHz and 3GB DDR2, and 320 or 500 GB (don't remember) and it is a Lenovo SFF that comes with windows Vista licence that you can downgrade to win XP if you wish.

An exponential log chart? is this the end of the world??
No, as the chart bases on MtGox, this "exponential correction" just accounts for fiat withdrawal troubles... Grin

Has anyone managed to get fiat out of gox. I have about 2.5k in there

Yes, SEPA worked fine - took 4-6weeks though

Does SEPA work to a UK bank (some of them accept SEPA transfers from Europe).

Just curious, never tried getting proper money out of Gox, but I am sitting on some bux, a little more than previous questioner actually...

yes I think it does if you have the appropriate account with multiple currencies, you should ask your bank before withdrawing, anyway a SEPA from gox takes from 4-8 weeks, in my opinion the best thing to do is to buy BTC and hold for 8 weeks and sell, hopefully the price will rise till then, it is better than withdrawing now and waiting couple of months when you could just sell later for higher price...

Bloody shit, 9200 BTC and 18000 LTC Doge volume on Cryptsy.   Shocked Shocked Shocked

I thought this stupid meme is finished

There's gonna be a whole lot of hurt butts by the time this is over.

I guess that some people have to learn the lesson the hard way, it just amaze me......

I think most noobs investing in these scams feel that they missed the bitcoin train, when they get that multiple thousands or hundreds of "put the name of the alt" in their wallets they get that warm fuzz thinking that they achieved something... they keep ignoring the fact that if they invest into bitcoin, even if it is just 0.01 BTC it will most likely turn out better in the long term.

when Bitcoin was around $10 I thought I missed the train , I didn't buy right away (worst decision ever) and who is starting today will think the same, and you will read more stories about regrets....

but who cares, let them burn...

Now, dont be butthurt.

Just cause a meme looking alt-coin gets up your asses and rocketeers in volume and price doesnt mean you need 2 hate.

                                 Such sadness.
   Such wow.

don't you have a sub-forum ? why did you get out of there? unless you are talking about Bitcoin move your ass back there right now...

now, that the sunday rally is over

how low will the monday dump take us ?

Probably very low, as confirmed by bad news sources and the verified fact that the price didn't break old ATH today.  This confirms additional bad news and new ATL.

what is the ATL ? 0 ? just make sure to send any bitcoins to the address in my signature, you do not need bitcoin as the sources confirmed zero dollars, that address is good for dumping your bitcoins, I will make sure that they will end up in a safe way that wont effect the environment and economics, this will be confirmed and verified from good sources as well  Wink

Guys the joke on us, I've been watching Mtgox and bitstamp and simply some smart people are slowly buying small batches of 20-50 BTC each hour and it has been happening for the last couple of day.

conclusion, your prediction is impossible
Could it be be a client with special privileges? Like, someone inside MtGOX and/or Bitstamp?

Arbitrage trading requires the ability to transfer cash or coins quickly between markets. One way, as the poster suggested, is to have a pile of coins and a pile of cash in each exchange. Then one can do instantaneous "virtual transfers" if required by the chosen arbitrage strategy, and do real transfers later, once in a while, only to rebalance the piles.  Does this make sense?

again there is no one special with more "privileges" over the bitcoin protocol, such thing doesn't exist, as simple as this. please read more about the technical aspect of Bitcoin because this is what makes Bitcoin special and the rocketing price that jumps from $13 to $1240 is because of people realizing the "technical phenomena" bitcoin is....

I think everyone should spend more time educating them selves about bitcoin before heavily investing, the last couple of months proved that people just jumped with their cash into bitcoin thinking of it as a quick get rich scheme, some people doesn't believe in bitcoin but in the potential income from it.. this is why we see people panicking....

I didn't invest a single dollar when I first knew about Bitcoin, I took all time I needed before deciding and asked all "stupid" question until I felt that I have a good understanding.

you simply donīt get it? this isnīt about any technical feature of the bitcoin protocol. But keep preaching your bullshit about newbies that donīt understand the technique, lol. Did you lose money and try do blame it on "newbies" that donīt fully believe in the godgiven power of the protocol Cheesy

OK maybe I am idiot, explain to me how your "fast" arbitrage between 2 different exchanges works, in terms of moving fiat and Bitcoins in 2 minutes, more importantly, please tell me how do you move cash between stamp and gox in matter of hours?

maybe there is a way that we are not aware of after all....

regardless, my statement about studying bitcoin as a technology is serious, anyone investing in something that has no clue about is either an idiot or a gambler.

I'm following the japanese 2ch thread pretty regularly, and even though google translate creates pretty weird results from japanese, I feel this coin has a future now. Some positive points:

- Number of miners is increasing steadily, japanese adoption is speeding up. (Most use CPU, so net hash is still low. 2chpool has gone from around 100 to almost 300 miners in a few days)

- Android wallet has just been released

- They are working on online wallet solutions

- Trade is happening on the monatrade site, even though volume is still low

To sum up, I am happy to be holding a fair amount of MONA  Smiley

get out, don't you have a cave called alternative cryptocurrency? (sub-forum)stay there unless you will talk about bitcoin

I'm done watching the charts. It's just ridiculous. I'll check back in a week.
This shit must scare off so many potential investors. You know, serious people. Right now it's just a playground for a bunch of kids and a few whales who control basically everything. It's just sad to see something great being abused like this.

Wow, fear is setting in. Watch out. Denial might come next.

Personally not selling. I'm just too scared it might fuck me sideways as it did in the past.

I also have a bad feeling about this, I want to sell some coins but the risk is really huge here, at least it was obvious when we crashed last to sub 500, but now I have so many questions and doubts, so I am better off this one...
2258  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the Bitcoin price will do when the Feds sell the Silk Road BTC on: January 17, 2014, 10:12:41 AM
Even with an auction that is almost 30k bitcoins that someone is buying at auction instead of going to the exchange. Why would someone do that instead of just buying on the exchange?

They would only do that if they can get them cheaper at the auction. And why would someone with $25 million want to buy cheap coins? To sell them. Where do you think they would sell them?

If someone with $25 million wanted to buy and hold, they would have done so by now.

one can not simply buy 30K BTC at exchanges and pay only $1000 a coin, at this moment gox has the deepest order book of all exchanges, and if I had the funds to buy 30K BTC I would push the price over $2000

the problem of Bitcoin today is liquidity, I bet that there is many wales wishing to enter the market but  cant simply do that without pushing the price to a crazy level, this is why these wales instead invest in startups and Bitcoin companies.

and if I had that money and wished to enter the market this way, I wouldn't simply sell and crash the price, because again the Bid order book is so small that I would crash the price and basically I will end up with more bitcoins than cash, and the Bitcoins I will hold will be worthless.

I have to be an real idiot to do what you suggested above, take my words, once they start an auction for those bitcoins the purchase price will be the double of what you see on exchanges.

Good point. But if you want buy bitcoins for 30mio., then you can just buy 1000btc every day. But do we talk about a long term investor?

PS: one question: From what site is your pic?

this is what is happening for the last month or so, you've got buyers that buys 250-500 BTC at once and wait for a small dump and the ask to build up and buy again, the same with sells people dumping few hundred coins and waiting for the bids to build up and repeat.

in other word, I think what is happening is normal, I just hate the low volume, but hey when BTC will be worth $10K each, we will see even lower volume, and we will call 50 BTC a wall.

It seems pretty obvious that someone is cashing out big time on Stamp. Over the last days , each time the bidside got filled someones dumpin between 100-300 coins, due to the help from the bots itīs pretty hidden. They keep fillin the book with tiny buy orders after each dump. Also someone bought 268,xx, coins on Gox and nearly the same amount gets dumped on Stamp within a range of 2 minutes.
Huobi and Gox as "market leaders" are used to keep the price high/steady. I donīt know if thats bullish or bearish :-D

do you think that someone is moving their cash from gox and cashing out on stamp, BTW when you pointed out that someone bought 268 coin and after "2 minutes" the same amount was dumped on stamp, did you mean that he moved the coins to stamp to dump there ?

you clearly dont know how Bitcoin protocol works, let me explain why I said "2 minutes", so gox have most of the coins on cold storage and when you request a withdrawal, they basicly put your request in queuethen take funds from their cold storage and send them at once to multiple clients (who previously requested withdrawals) so this takes time, usually every 10 minutes or so.

I am not done yet, so your transaction is put in queue before getting in Blockchain, your transaction has priority depending on the paid fee, it can be confirmed in the first block or it can take couple more blocks to get the first confirmation, here comes the bitstamp part, so bitstamp needs minimum 3 confirmations which is circa 30 minute if we take a 10 min average.

conclusion, your prediction is impossible. and seriously try to read more about Bitcoin as a technology, it is more important than checking the price...  this is the problem with users today, we have more speculators than people interested in the technology...
