when bitcoin hits the ceiling in terms of USD value, will the world accept forever that 1BTC= 40 LTC when there are only 4x as much? again, it is a binary move, litecoin will claw to parity with bitcoin over time, or it will fall to zero.

I don't think it is that easy. Fiat currencies' market caps are big and small, and have some relation to their underlying economies, respectively. They also fluctuate against each other.

If LTC userbase is roughly constant 1/10 of BTC, and # of LTC in circulation is 4 times more, then it is realistic to assume that the ratio would be 1:40 perpetually.

The only way for LTC to achieve parity with USD is to actually make every present and future BTC holder to actually hold (an equal value of) LTC, which is quite ridiculous, don't you think so? Smiley

I do hold more value in LTC than in BTC, it is true that the current inflation of LTC is 8 times higher than BTC, but the huge trading volume that matches and surpass the BTC trading volume means that there is a big chance for growth,  I did also notice that the sell/buy amounts are shrinking more and more with the huge volume, which could means that LTC is changing hands, which is good.

I usually don't like to compare BTC with LTC, this really doesn't work, BTC has a first mover advantage, network effect, loyalty.... but LTC offer a 2nd choice and I do like choices, and to be honest, name any legitimate alts that have a real development going ? really few if any....

I have been watching this chart for few months now, and I decided lately to invest a bit more into LTC, best decision ever  Smiley

You're using data from the period when LTC is highly speculated based on Huobi stuff  Wink

But since LTC goes up to 0.035 regularly than buying now is almost guarantees profit though (buying few days ago was even more guaranteed, lol). There are lot of alts near the bottom though where the potential profit is even bigger than LTC one though.

I have been looking to this for almost 3 months now, LTC has a really huge volume without exaggerating...

I think this is bigger than Litecoin  Cheesy

care to explain Smiley

I just noted that you said "it will be even more interesting for Litecoin "

I understand that Litecoin may have some pervading effects on society, though, amidst a global awakening, I think the part is a bit less important than the Whole is all Smiley

Well there's a Golden Age.
Comin' round, comin'round, comin' round!

True, this year in general will be really interesting Smiley

1726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp is the Next Gox and why Bitcoin will be at $300 soon on: March 12, 2014, 12:49:54 PM
There was an AUDIT from a third party company, they went to check the solvency and transparency of Bitstamp, this are the results:

STATEMENT REGARDING RECENT THIRD PARTY AUDIT REPORT
Dear Bitstamp clients,

On November 22nd and 23rd, 2013 an on site due diligence was carried out in respect of Bitstamp Ltd. on behalf of a 3rd party.

Bitstamp’s balance of BTC was validated by temporarily creating the largest single Bitcoin wallet and in the process the largest Bitcoin transaction in history.

The report identified that Bitstamp held 100% of validated BTC balance and USD funds. No material issues were raised as a consequence of the 3rd party’s investigations.

Original statement https://www.bitstamp.net/s/documents/Firestartr_DD_Letter_for_Bitstamp.pdf

Best regards,
Bitstamp team

The document was released the 6th March 2014, from Firestartr.Co
"firestartr.co" is not an auditor. They're a startup incubator.

This is a little better than Roger Ver's video about his examination of Mt. Gox's accounts. But it's not an audit. It's not even a financial statement.

and you know what that could mean right ?  let me speculate here, firestartr.co made an Audit before investing into Bitstamp, this could mean that Bitstamp is going big and when I say Big I mean bigger then what we can imagine...

this is only a speculation....

vokain, it's not so unusual to have total lunar eclipses; we had 3 in one year in the 1991-2000 decade, for example. Typically we get 2 lunar eclipses a year, mostly penumbral rather than total. They serve to heighten the energy of the full Moon, but I wouldn't get doomy just because it's a total lunar eclipse. This particular coming total lunar eclipse in April activates the Uranus-Pluto square that  is going on, which is why I focus on it, especially as Jupiter and Mars are added to the mix, too.

which means it will be "add explanation here" for BTC and LTC ?

litecoin is off charts, I will speculate about us passing the 0.05 LTC/BTC pair in a couple of weeks Smiley

I am really curious about their next product, I sold all my GPUs and beside the 3 jalapenos I had and sold after a week I did quit mining, I am going to wait and see what they bring next, I might start mining again after all  Smiley

3 Hours   16.29 Th/s   40966208
22.5 Minutes   19.79 Th/s   6219600

looks like they added maybe 5 more units?

5 ? are you sure ?  WOW much hash very power so coins  Cheesy

Can't tell if serious or foreigner

I'm assuming they added 5 more units since they said they got 15 earlier this week, they were running at ~15TH, now the default miner says ~20TH.  They were supposed to get 20 so not really sure, maybe they aren't all setup.

yes I see them on default now, I was just kidding, I was reading a dogeshit (dogecoin) impression and I thought it would be funny if I used it here Smiley

Dogecoin will survive.

On another note. I am starting to get sick of these price ranges of BTC.

Lets get some action.

once that meme popularity is over the dogecoin will die hard, kids jumped on only because of the meme is familiar to them, the price went up then other people saw an opportunity to make some some profit, everyone will get sick of that meme, there is no technical improvement or a new feature or anything that can keep that coin going. no development whatsoever.

marketing with that meme thing was a great idea but we all know that wont last so long Smiley

BITMAIN is a smart person, while you are all yelling crazy drop Shocked , he know what he is doing, AM and bitfury, KNC... will be releasing their new chips very soon and the best move from BITMAIN is to drop prices as low as possible to empty the warehouse and get ready for the next Gen.

I would be interested about buying these miners only when the price is 0.5BTC and if this will happen in the next 2 weeks.

but again, he amazingly handle business, he really impresses me Smiley  good work BITMAIN

1736  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 10, 2014, 11:37:18 AM
I've found only one way to profitably use altcoins: quick daytrading of a trending altcoin with high volume. Find an uptrending altcoin and locate the 'trendline' or 'trendcurve', or use EMAs. Bid against these levels so when there is a spike down, you get filled, and then you are instantly up on the inevitable rebound. You can either sell immediately with your rebound profit, or if you are bold, you can let the trend play out and sell at a different target or sell when the trend is breaking.

I will agree on that, but this works for pump and dump and scamcoins, the risk is huge, but Litecoin seems to be gaining huge legitimacy over time, it was started in a fairway and I am amazed about the development going behind it. Warren is the team Dev leader, he is the Creator of Linux Fedora. and allot of talented people working with him.

the Dev team when dealing with the core code, doesn't rely on Bitcoin as copy paste, but they submitted many bug fixes on Bitcoin code it self and they also helped funding projects that benefits both Bitcoin and Litecoin.

also after the shit and conspiracy going around Bitcoin, from the foundation and all hidden agendas, all of that made me think about investing some of my holding into Litecoin just in case, and now my Litecoin position is bigger than the Bitcoin one, I think that there is a potential growth ahead for Litecoin... and I was curious about how many of you here maybe did study this possibility and invested or think about investing?
1737  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 10, 2014, 10:34:44 AM
Only two alts that I ever became interested, were DOGE and AUR, and both would have been 10-baggers but money does not interest me any more  Grin

yes DOGE is a really social phenomena, the whole doge idea is based on a meme, my question is how long it will last, at some point that meme will lose the popularity, as for Aura, the concept of a national coin is interesting, but the philosophy doesn't sum up, Bitcoin's proof of work is one of the things behind the successes of it, premining the coins and giving them for free without any proof of works that comes from citizens will kill this coin.

now Auracoin has some value but once they start distributing coins among citizens you will watch one of the biggest crashes of a currency in crypto world, a citizen who has done nothing to deserve the coins will first think about dumping it for a quick free profit, lets get real, what did they risk to care about the price not going to 0 ?

the Idea behind money or a currency is the rarity and value of that currency, when it is delivered for free and without any work/effort/risk it takes off that whole definition and idea of money.... this is why gold and silver and Bitcoin has value, it is not easy to get...

at least that is my opinion on these 2 coins.
1738  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: March 10, 2014, 10:02:58 AM

Whilst 'these bubbles' look great, there seems to be no indication as to time period. Would be interesting to see change /D/W/M/Y this would give a great visualisation of how things are progressing, and which markets to follow.

the bubbles as it was explained before show the 24H volume, you can see that they refresh in 5-15 min patterns... and I look at them daily so...
1739  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Starting an exchange looking for partners on: March 09, 2014, 03:57:01 PM
I'm starting to get a lot of interest regarding Tradeigniter, currently have several developers working on different aspects of the trading platform

Thank you to the people who already have been in touch

The design is nearly there, certainly do for now so I can focus on the database and api. Ill probably rebuild it at the end using smaller framework

SSL certificate just bought and being implemented as I write this also setup cloud flare, to get the ball rolling

Emails system works

Several servers have been setup for testing

1 for nginx
1 hosting Node.js
1 database server - currently its mongodb but I think I will be making the move to couchdb - please advise also im in need of database designers to help me finalize the design
wallet servers to be implemented

Im currently looking at ubuntu landscape and similar products

The servers security is amazing ive locked them all down hopefully once the app is near ready, I could release a bug hunting bounty

Still also looking for more partners to show there interest or investors and developers

Currently the site is located at  www.tradeigniter.com

I can be contacted by email of pm

admin@tradeigniter.com

Thank you

what is your location? I am also an IT operations engineer, worked 6 years for Goodyear and I am resigning this job to work exclusively with Bitcoin/Litecoin, I am not a talent when it comes to developing but I did allot of implementations, I helped on the implementation of major systems across Goodyear Europe.

I can do DB administration, System Administration, System Architecture.... I would be also interested in investing but need allot more info before jumping on that.

PM me with more details Smiley
