1741  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp is the Next Gox and why Bitcoin will be at $300 soon on: March 09, 2014, 01:02:08 PM
made at least 6 large FIAT withdrawals the last 5 months, made plenty of BTC withdrawals without a problem. made at least 3 large FIAT deposit and got credited the next day, sometimes if I made the withdrawal/deposit early I would get it the same day ( I use the same Bank)

and in case the OP is blind and cant read, there was an AUDIT from a third party company, they went to check the solvency and transparency of Bitstamp, this are the results:

STATEMENT REGARDING RECENT THIRD PARTY AUDIT REPORT
Dear Bitstamp clients,

On November 22nd and 23rd, 2013 an on site due diligence was carried out in respect of Bitstamp Ltd. on behalf of a 3rd party.

Bitstamp’s balance of BTC was validated by temporarily creating the largest single Bitcoin wallet and in the process the largest Bitcoin transaction in history.

The report identified that Bitstamp held 100% of validated BTC balance and USD funds. No material issues were raised as a consequence of the 3rd party’s investigations.

Original statement https://www.bitstamp.net/s/documents/Firestartr_DD_Letter_for_Bitstamp.pdf

Best regards,
Bitstamp team

the document was released the 6th March 2014, from Firestartr.Co

Disclaimer: I live in Slovenia and I use the same Bank, I also live 10 min away from Bitstamp offices.

The year/date of the stroke eludes me. Anybody here able to point out when it happened?

I don't know, I was also thinking about that, if he is the right guy and if he had health issues at the same time when he left the project then this would explain allot of things....
1743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 10:47:13 PM
If Satoshi Nakamoto was a group of people instead of an individual it would be the dumbest thing ever to name that group after one of its members. And he's 60+ years old, what are the chances someone of that age comes up with an idea like Bitcoin and has the technological know-how to actually help develop it?

very likely Smiley my ex-boss was also in his age, an IT engineer and you cant even imagine what he could do, we were amazed sometimes

Real technological innovations usually come from people between 20-40 years old, but there could be exceptions I guess. Anyway I'll just drop the age argument, the main reason I don't believe he is Satoshi is because of his writings and because I don't trust that journalist one bit. There is simply no proof that he is Satoshi, and until we have real proof I think we should remain some healthy skepticism about all this. Also I don't actually care who Satoshi is, and I feel sorry for this man who suffered from a stroke and is now being bombarded by the media and others due to this.

I am skeptical more than you, she linked him up, without any real evidence, he fits so damn good, I was curious about Satoshi's identity, but I never paid so much attention, once they brought the story up I cant seem to let it go, sorry I might be selfish with this attitude, but this is how I feel about the whole situation.

Ok, to be honest, if we find out about Satoshi's identity, it wont end up there, what comes next is the more interesting, maybe this is why I want to believe that this man is the right one.

Supposedly Dorians brother, just posted this on Reddit:  http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zx2j3/dorian_satoshi_nakamoto_my_brother/

Mis-quoting and blatant lies are unfortunately the journalistic world that exist today. I am just a humble handsome Asian man who is confused as to how a female asshole can become transferred onto my brother's rear end. But I saw with my own eyes from released video that there is a surgeon operating without an ethical or moral license to do exactly that.
I and my immediate family were frightened due to obvious safety concerns, angered by our privacy being invaded and highly concerned over a gentle man trying, trying to recover from his life threatening health concerns. He was so private that he did not tell me when he was going through his health threats, only told me quietly when I visited the house in Temple City to take our mother for lunch. And I am his blood brother.
I recall as a child that I looked up to Dorian who I believe is many times smarter than I am. He taught me at a toddler, protected me from harm and shared with me Manga, Japanese comic books and made up fantastic stories til I fell asleep. I am forever indebted to him in saving my life when I was 9 years old. I called the writer an asshole and told her to leave my brother alone but the whole world did not read that. Dorian can be stubborn and be an ass but then I am telling the whole world right here and now that I and 2 other people in the whole world can say that to him and we are forgiven by him. He can call me that too and has and maybe an idiot, but you know, he was probably right. How dare Leah demean and endanger my brother's health and safety and the safety of an 93 year old lady, our mother. Who is going to be responsible in their safety, her? I place her and Newsweek and all news organizations who joined in to be held responsible for their blatant and open carelessness.
I understand that I will be mis-quoted and that I will be made out to be the brother who is the asshole remark guy. What I wanted to do is to plead to allow Dorian to live whatever life he has left to live it in dignity, peace and in private. To let him play with his trains and obsess over being treated to free lunches that he craves for some reason since his stroke. What's a real bitch (I am welling with tears right now) is that I cannot physically go to to see him and my mother to be of family support or call for fear of my immediate family being in physical danger.
1745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 09:34:04 PM
what are the odds that some random guy--who for arguments sake is NOT the real Satoshi Nakamoto-- has the same name AND has worked as a systems engineer which happens to sell tech based on cryptography?
Close to 100%. Statistics is obviously not your strong suit.

except that I am not the Reddit user, I just copied and pasted here, your focusing is poor...
1746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 09:14:35 PM
also this from reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zwa1b/conspiracy_theory_nakamotos_link_to_nsalevel/

Not trying to fan the flames of bad journalism. But what are the odds that some random guy--who for arguments sake is NOT the real Satoshi Nakamoto-- has the same name AND has worked as a systems engineer which happens to sell tech based on cryptography?
According to the original Newsweak story, if the fact remains true, Dorian Nakamoto worked for Radio Corporation of America which is now called L3 Communications.
Now look at a job ad for L3 Communications:
"[Candidates] have knowledge of cryptographic technology, algorithms, and secure protocols. This includes Suite A and Suite B encryption algorithms defined by NSA, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and the NSA Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)."
Systems Engineer Job Ad on LinkedIn http://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/7482605
I did some Googling of "L3 Communications, SHA, Crytpography" and found that this company could have employed someone who could have created bitcoin. (lots of coulds)
But then again I could be full of shit too!
edit. Notice the address on page 2 of this L3 document http://www2.l-3com.com/cs-east/pdf/unitycp.pdf . Dorian Nakamoto worked at the same place presumably.
edit 2. Not saying this Dorian guy is the real SN. My point is, what are the odds that this guy's background points to a career working with a company that essentially works almost exclusively for NSA (among other military agencies) with crypto tech/hardware?
1747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 08:40:12 PM
The satoshi reply on P2P foundation states " I am not Dorian Nakamoto" so he ignores spelling the full name, someone posted a Video, it was recorded 2 days before the newsweek article, what is interesting that even in the Temple City, City Council Regular Meeting , that was recorded March 04, 2014 http://youtu.be/7KLaskPoc7g?t=21m8s he announced his name by Dorian nakamoto, didn't spell the full name.

Edit: He was moving to more important projects " requesting a stop sign"  Cheesy  (just kidding)

News on Gox 180 kBTC: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zwpic/180k_btc_update_not_good/

First BTC originated from the 180k kBTC arrived at destination and now in mixing process. See this address: 15kHtw93J7Ua1tfwGqqG7YdckxcATgEMwr

It's not a mixing process - it's in line with the leaked code supposed to be from Gox: dust sweeping.

dust sweeping ? what does that even mean ?
1749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 07:41:46 PM
until she brought up Bitcoin, she stated that only then he stopped replying to her mails.
she tried to get in touch with him, she even got in touch with his son and asked him if he can talk him to talk about bitcoin with her
we all know about these facts
She stated that she asked him
told her "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it"
"this guy is just trying to hide something.."

You just went full retard, unless you're unfamiliar with the meaning of the word 'fact'.
'Fact' is not some bitch saying she heard someone say something that she desperately wanted to hear.
Especially when it's the same bitch that said BTC price fell to $100-something.

Quote
he confirmed telling "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it"

It's possible that I've missed something. If he really did confirm saying "he was no longer involved in bitcoin" do link to the video.

you didn't even take time to watch the videos all around the place... Dorian said that when he said "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it" he meant that he is no longer an engineer, so he confirmed that, this is why it became a fact...

Seriously guys I have no Idea why most of you are defensive, we are just discussing the possibility here, there is no reason to trash me, give me the counter argument instead of calling me names...
1750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 07:07:43 PM
we all wanted to know who is Satoshi

No, we all don't. When someone wants privacy, I respect that.

you are even lying or brave, I for my self wanted to know who is the real Satoshi, so I am correcting "I wanted to know who is Satoshi" am I an asshole ? I dont care if you think that about me...

Wow... I didn't say you were an asshole, I simply said I don't care to know who Satoshi is.

I didnt say you called me an asshole, I said if you think that I am an asshole for trying to know he is, then I don't give a flying fuck...

there is no chance the reporter is lying. reporters are definitely not prone to lying to get a good story.

he confirmed telling "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it"  so she didnt lie here, also this means that he knew about what she was talking about, this guy is not dumb....

see in this Video he said " i ahve nothing with developing, I was just an eginneer doing something else" http://youtu.be/-oRq7e8GMII   so he knew abou the developing part.

but the funnier thing is that here he said : " I have nothing to do with Bitcoin, I never worked for the company...."  http://youtu.be/kk2Lys4CuDU?t=48s  so now Bitcoin is a company... this guy is just trying to hide something..

According to the article i read he also said this in the interview:

Asked if he said the quote, Nakamoto responded, "no."

"I'm saying I'm no longer in engineering. That's it,"

he said " I wasn't talking about Bitcoin but about being an engineer", so she asked about Bitcoin clearly but he heard engineering ?

Stroke victim...

yes, I feel sorry for him having a stroke, I really do, but he seemed in a perfect physical and mental status when he asked for his free lunch, he also did speak very well for the AP journalist, he understood the questions very well and he cleared his name with wise words.

the stroke didn't seem to effect him...  I would say he is afraid, which is normal if he is the real satoshi...

and BTW all the hate going around is worthless, we all wanted to know who is Satoshi everyone around Bitcoin wanted to know, the difference between us and that reporter is that we did do nothing and we didn't care that much, she went out to look for him, even if she didn't someone else would, and Satoshi's identity would be discovered sooner or later... so please if you don't have something of value to add just keep off this thread
1756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 06:48:43 PM
and the fact that I want to know ( to have peace with my mind) annoys you right?

What?  Nothing i said indicated that your desire to know, was annoying.

Your creation of this thread is annoying, because it doesn't get you closer to knowing.  It only draws attention to a man who has asked repeatedly to be left alone.

Im amazed I have to hold your hand through this logic process.

And stop winking at people in your posts.   Its creepy.

-B-

winking at post is creepy, OK..... and BTW "leave the man alone"

we are just discussing this matter, I didn't do anything to that poor man, we are discussing the possibility of him being the father of Bitcoin, and BTW when people say that his writing is really poor, my take on this is that there is no proof that he created Bitcoin him self right ? we always said that the creator may be one individual or a group of people, I am not winking now  Smiley am I still creepy?
1757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 06:28:58 PM
You haven't revealed anything new.

These are obvious things anyone with an IQ over twelve took note of.

You speak as if these are revelations.   They're not.

The bottom line is this:   Whether he is, or isn't, he deserves 100% privacy and anonymity, and to be left alone.

Given that Leah lied her way into conversation with him in the first place, her ability to lie was established.

This doesn't prove or disprove anything.  But the moral of the story here is:   Let the whole situation sleep.

You can secretly be giddy that you laid eyes on Satoshi if you like.  But all you're doing is prolonging this guys misery by continuing to discuss it.  Whether he is Satoshi or not.

-B-

and the fact that I want to know ( to have peace with my mind) annoys you right? I would like to know who is Satoshi the same like I know who Bill Gates is....Satoshi the inventor of Bitcoin is a genius man, he deserves all respect and I have never had this kind of curiosity but once this has been brought up, I cant seem to let it go Wink

1759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Dorian Satoshi being the real Satoshi? here are some facts... on: March 08, 2014, 05:54:34 PM
Something came into my mind, about Dorian Satoshi (yes I am not letting this go...yet), while there is no real evidence to prove the link between him and Bitcoin, and while we don't know if this guy have any cryptography knowledge, we know that he is mathematician and an old fashion programmer, this all fits the story but something doesn't seem to sum up.

when the reporter first contacted him by e-mail that she got from the company he was purchasing parts from, she first showed interest about his model trains and she pointed out that he was responding to her e-mails normally, so she had some interaction with him, until she brought up Bitcoin, she stated that only then he stopped replying to her mails.

she tried to get in touch with him, she even got in touch with his son and asked him if he can talk him to talk about bitcoin with her, the answer was negative.

we all know about these facts, the most thing that I cant seem to understand, and I can be wrong because this depends about the character and personality of Dorian,  is why Dorian got so defensive when she brought up Bitcoin ?

If he is not the creator of Bitcoin, or he "play" that he doesn't even know what is a Bitcoin, why he got so defensive, why didn't he just talk with her and ask her what the hell is this Bitcoin ? wasn't the best move from his side to just talk as a normal person who doesn't have a clue about Bitcoin and talk her that this is the first time he hear about this "brand" or tell her that he have heard about this before but he has no idea who used his name and things would be better ? the defensive move he took shows fear, and why he is afraid of something that he doesn't know about ?

She stated that she asked him first by mail, then she reached family members and told them about Bitcoin, then she tried to talk him face to face, it is just then when he called the police and told her "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it", so to say that he didn't know what she was talking about is just misleading, he knew for 2 months and he had plenty of time to ask what Bitcoin is or at least search the subject.... but he was defensive the moment she brought it up.

just yesterday I was analyzing facts about Dorian, and I was almost sure that he is not the one, but today I started thinking and I am not letting this go....

Edit, also this:

he confirmed telling "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it"  so she didnt lie here, also this means that he knew about what she was talking about, this guy is not dumb....

So what is your take on this ?

Can you use it for something?

Can I use what ? your opinion or Litecoin ?

Edit: if you meant litecoin then yes, if you meant your opinion, well it just matters to me, I want to have different opinions from reputable people, I am in kinda analyzing something here.... so I would appreciate if you shared that info with me Wink or rather with us...

What value does LTC add over BTC?

I suspect most alts will disappear (i.e. become even less significant than they already are) over the next year or two as people realize they offer no benefit over BTC and can't be used anywhere.

Also volume is higher because I think it is more volatile (better for day traders).

yes, LTC beside the faster confirmations and lower transactions cost, it doesn't add anything technical, it is a fundamental aspect here, it add a choice... it is also the oldest alt and the most secure and legitimate one out there, where you can see an actual and legit development happening, honestly I am beyond what LTC add, I had that argument in my head for so long,  but the market seems to vote in a different way Wink
