2241  Economy / Economics / Re: Holdings of gold vs Holdings of btc on: July 08, 2017, 03:21:31 AM
From person to person the understanding and the thinking change a lot. So this causes a difference of opinion with gold and bitcoin choosing which is the best. I prefer bitcoin, because of the profiting it provides in a very short time which we cannot expect with gold.
You can expect good returns in gold but it will take a lot of time before you see the results of that. Bitcoin is one of the best investment so far because of what you said, it gives profits in a short period of time which is the opposite of gold. So if a particular person wants to get some profits in a short time period then choosing bitcoin for investment is the best option.
If you want the best of both worlds, short term earnings and long term earnings as well, something you could do is to invest on both, many people think of bitcoin and gold as enemies but the truth is both of these investments can easily complement each other in your portfolio, bitcoin is high risk while gold is low risk so it is a way to also lower the risk of your portfolio if you are holding many assets with high volatility.
2242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will people start moving their savings to Bitcoin in case of a financial crash? on: July 08, 2017, 03:18:14 AM
Found this.. is it all fud? "Legendary investor Jim Rogers predicts a market crash in the next few years, one that he says will rival anything he has seen in his lifetime."

http://www.businessinsider.com/jim-rogers-worst-crash-lifetime-coming-2017-6

It's definitely not FUD.

In fact even the top in business knows that a financial crisis is definitel ygoing to come. The 2008 one nearly collapsed the entire world financial system, and i can see a much larger one that is boiling up right now as a result of the endless amount of debt the US owes to exporting, developing countries such as China, india, resulting is a very large current account deficit in the US that will eventually self correct and be absolutely devastating.

Hedge yourself against this by either placing a portion of your wealth in silver/gold or in bitcoin. That is the smart thing to do, at least imo.
I agree, FUD is misinformation spread to cause fear among investors and traders, but it is not FUD if it is backed by data and common sense, the way the economies of the world are being run by politicians and bankers cannot last forever and when this finally crash the crash is going to be spectacular and it is very likely the consequences of this will affect us for the rest of our lives
2243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: July 08, 2017, 03:13:34 AM
Bitcoin is usually used by people interested in technology. I mean, persons with a certain technical knowledge are interested in bitcoin.

My observations are that way. I think Bitcoin needs to reach larger quantities. Can use bitcoin in people who are not interested in technology?
Can people use the bitcoin in the profession group like tradesmen, teachers, housewives, firemen, butchers? Are we going to see the days that these people use bitcoin?
Yes bitcoin can be used by ordinary citizens.Truly bitcoin is accessible to all ,as long as you have your internet connection with you because in able to use bitcoin you will be needing an internet connection.
Correct, you do not need to be a genius to use bitcoin, people will have to get used to bitcoin and its quirks but as soon as they do that they will realize how easy is to use bitcoin and the great advantages that it has over fiat, like the ability to send funds from one side of the planet to the other for almost no cost or that you can buy new products that you did not know were there for you to buy and many other reasons.
2244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Day Trading 101. Question on: July 07, 2017, 03:51:17 AM
Hi guys. I've been lurking for a few months but this is my first post. I'm new in the cryptospace and only started investing about a month ago.

I bought a few waves, siacoins and stratis and I'm holding them.

I want to start playing with part of my portfolio and day trade, that is buying and selling on a daily basis for profit. I currently use Bittrex.

My question is, lets say today I think the market will go down and I want to sell my alt coins. You sell to what? Bitcoins? Because bitcoin will also go down, you go to fiat? Can you hold fiat in bittrex? My question is, when you sell and wait to buy, in what format do you hold your money while waiting?

Hope someone can help. Thsnks
While bitcoin will go down if there is a big crash most of the time altcoins will go lower in value than bitcoin in terms of proportion so even if you lose money in fiat you will be able to buy more altcoins with this new bitcoin, so in a way you will get more altcoins than the ones you had before the crash and when the price recovers your earnings will grow as well.
2245  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could btc hit 1 usd? on: July 07, 2017, 03:45:05 AM
Could some major shift or change happen that would bitcoin nearly worthless especially overnight?
It is possible, I think it is, but it is not very likely especially since you said overnight, something like a bug in the code will need to be found for that to happen, the only other thing that I can imagine could case such a crash will be the fall of civilization as we know it, and that point bitcoin being worthless will not be our most pressing issue.
2246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is happening ? = all coins down by 20 to 35 % on: July 07, 2017, 03:42:39 AM
It is a worse scenario for a traders the price keep on declining and the up is only for a moment, it makes me confused and worry to do trading, I think most of the people is dumping their coin for now, it is very risky to do trading now, the raising is too short and little while the falling is quite often and sharp, I hope it will be getting better in this few days
Bitcoin was mostly unaffected by this, so a strategy could have been to sell your altcoins and then buy bitcoin with them, to be honest, there seems to be some people that are too proud and decide to trade when there are not opportunities to do so, when that happens the best thing to do is to not trade, get out your profits out of the exchange and wait for the market to give you better chances to do so.
2247  Economy / Economics / Re: New rich people thanks to BTC on: July 07, 2017, 03:33:45 AM
One of my friends asked me to purchase Bitcoins in 2011. At that time, the exchange rate was around $4 per coin. At that point of time, I chose to ignore his advice. I even mocked at him for putting his trust behind a ponzi scheme. But I purchased the same coins in 2014, at around $700 per coin. Had I followed the advice of my friend in 2011, then I'd have been a millionaire now.
that should be the worst decision for you isn't it? too bad you are not one of high risk taker. and i believe this kind story have been experienced by a lot of people around the world, bitcoin has made everyone regret and proven that they are all wrong 6 years ago. don't too deep fall in that king regret , get up and start a new journey from now , there's no time to keep thinking what you have done in the past.

Yeah, it's sound so bad actually but we cannot hold on and go back to the past. We have to move on and face the reality that we came to that situation but face it with no regrets because at first you doubted. all you have to do now is try to earn it, invest there and make some profit at least you are not yet late because there are more to come.

It was a risky decision to invest in 2011 and it was a risky decision to invest in 2014. The fact of the matter is, those who took risks in those years are reaping the reward now. Some people will be happy to make safe investments and not take any risk.
It sounds intriguing, but we should not forget that risk most often ends in failure. You know how many lives broke the risk to the casino. If the person is not ready to lose their savings, he should not risk.
Investment in bitcoin is risk free. A few facts can be re-called to strengthen this thesis. First, it is well known that bitcoin has only increased its value since it was created in 2009. Whereas other assists like gold and shares in stock market are very unreliable and risky in terms of their value.
No investment is risk free, not even bitcoin, bitcoin has increased in value in the long term, but there is no guarantee that is going to continue, don’t get me wrong I believe in bitcoin but what you are saying is simply not true, people have lost money with bitcoin due to crashes, or investing at the wrong time, so like always we need to be cautious about our expectations for the future.
2248  Economy / Economics / Re: If USD falls on: July 07, 2017, 03:30:42 AM
It's funny that the world often says that the dollar will fall. But he does not fall. While other currencies are falling. Although if I choose between the dollar and bitcoin, I will choose the second.
The dollar has fell several times already, but it has not disappeared, the last time the dollar fell was in 1971 when Richard Nixon abandoned Bretton Woods and the dollar were no longer be able to be redeemed for gold any longer, since that time the dollar is not pegged to gold, so like you see the fall of the dollar not necessarily means its disappearance.
2249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: July 06, 2017, 02:04:00 AM
Yes i think there is a relation because of bitcoin nature as an anonymous currency usable online and offline it might have increased some online crimes like cross-continent drug dealing and with no ID's and evidence.  And so some criminals had the idea of using bitcoins to use bitcoin in their crimes.
Criminals have been conducting crimes on the internet for a very long time, way before bitcoin was even close to being an idea in satoshi’s head, people use stuff for uses the inventors never even imagined, a kitchen knife was created to cut fruits and vegetables, meat and other stuff in the kitchen, but unfortunately, it is a very common weapon in domestic disputes.
2250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum in 5 years on: July 06, 2017, 01:57:38 AM
In terms of fiat my guess is $7500 for 2022! Grin But first they have to secure and improve their network.

They say that the "Ethereum Machine" is much slower than a mobile phone, so I guess that will need to change first! Just imagine what will happen with thousands of smart contracts are being invoked on the network at the same time, who knows what will happen!?
Nothing wrong with being positive and all of that, but that is simply too high, there is no way for Ethereum to reach that price, it will need to grow about 25 times its current price to get there and that is not going to happen, it is as simple as that, I think the rise in price is going to get slower now that is that high, similar to what happened to bitcoin.

I think you will be deadly wrong. It will get higher than anybody could imagine
Could you at least elaborate and not leave it at, you are wrong because I say so, at least I gave an argument about why this is not going to be the case, Ethereum is already very big, and when you are big it is difficult to become even bigger, especially when you have something on top of you avoiding your growth, which in this case is bitcoin.
2251  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: July 06, 2017, 01:54:50 AM
Yes I think that's the reason many people are taking interest in bitcoin investment including me. Lols. I have spoken with my friends and they are also getting interest in it a lot. This is just because of rise in prices of bitcoin. :-)
This is not really surprising but at the same time, what price bitcoin will need to reach for the people to finally awake to the innovation that bitcoin brings and they decide to invest massively in it? Bitcoin is already above the 2500 mark do you think people will wake up at 10k or we will need to reach ridiculous prices like 100k so people can finally realize about the potential of bitcoin.
2252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So many posts about what is wrong with the alt coin market lately on: July 06, 2017, 01:51:02 AM
Ever think that a whale or a team of whales that got crazy richer than they already have been just said fuck it and left? Prob take the summer off, and come back later if they feel like it?
I will not be surprised if that was the case, but at the same time it sounds awfully similar to conspiracy theories and the like, when the most likely thing that happen was that people have decide to cash out some or all of their earnings, so I do not think this is the act of a few whales but the act of tens of thousands of investors acting on their own benefit.
2253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving bitcoins on: July 06, 2017, 01:48:11 AM
People who are earning bitcoins in their spare time would be in good position to save their bitcoins for long term as they have fiat money which can take care of their expenses but those who are full time into bitcoins and it is the only source of income for them would find it very hard to save their bitcoins as they need money for their day to day expenses and in that case they need to sell their bitcoins often.

Certainly.  That is why I make it a point that I will always have earnings with bitcoins because having relying on my day job salary will only be used for needs.  I cannot save solely for that and bitcoin is a good way to have a savings.

I just keep my bitcoin in my wallet and it is almost like saving.  I keep myself away from things that will make me encash my bitcoin.  If I will keep my bitcoin in my wallet I will be able to atleast make it grow.
Bitcoin is even better than saving,m when you save, you save in fiat that devalues every single minute of the day, bitcoin in the long term only does one thing, to go up, so by holding your bitcoin you are already investing in one of the financial projects with the most growth in the entire planet, it does not get better than that.

That's why I love to save bitcoin in my wallet, tried to secure it for long term. I didn't get how could Op stated to save bitcoin in bank ansld ask for interest, not even heard about such bank. People in this forum already said to save your bitcoin and hold your private key, if you don't have private key then you don't have bitcoin. Save bitcoin in an exchange isn't for long term obviously, you just use it for trading or in case to cash out into fiat currency.
Just save your bitcoins in a hardware wallet because they are the best wallet to store bitcoin for long term and storing it only in exchanges doesn't help us to secure our bitcoin and in fact, we are just risking our bitcoins for the possible hackers attack to the exchange that we are using to store our bitcoins. Saving bitcoins is the best for the people who want to be rich but we need to make sure that our bitcoins are safe.
Hardware wallets are great but they come with their own set of problems, personally I like the fact that in desktop wallets you can see your information displayed as big as your monitor allows, but in a hardware wallet the letters and numbers are small, for the young that is not something to worry about but for those that are old that is a real worry.

2255  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin making people an Introvert on: July 05, 2017, 03:12:43 AM
hey guys I am back with another creepy thought. I hope you guys know the term Introvert and Extrovert if not then here is a short description. Introvert are the person who like to stay alone and are more concentrated on their work, but on the other hand Extrovert are the people who are more Social(talkative) or building their friends network . they spend most of their time chatting or checking emails. so I think bitcoin is effecting everyone on the internet to be an Introvert. I have created many good topics so if any of the topic helped you or if you are an Introvert then give me a green trust. and by the way I am an Introvert too.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLXyag83AGA)
Disagree, I don’ see how that could be possible, someone can be an extroverted person and work bitcoin because it loves cryptography and programming and when that person is working then he puts everything in the project but as soon he is out he goes back to being the extroverted person that he is, so to me this is simply not true.
2256  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin benefit of saving for a long time? on: July 05, 2017, 03:09:57 AM
why so many people store their bitcoin in their wallet for a long time, whether the benefits will they get?

Come share your thoughts

Almost any investment is going to benefit you if you hold for a long time, even things like stocks and bonds will benefit you by holding long time, real estate is the same and the same can be said about gold, so bitcoin is not an exception to this but I think it is way better to also look for signs that you should sell that way you avoid making the mistake of holding for too long.
2257  Other / Off-topic / Re: Young people should go all in on bitcoin on: July 05, 2017, 03:07:43 AM
Young people should be financially literate and should know the importance of money, saving or investing in bitcoin is one way to prepare for their future and to become more independent when income to money. Even youre young you can earn a lot thru bitcoin, i believe whether you are young or not you can earn thru bitcoin.
Young people like anyone can earn their way with bitcoin but one of the problems is that many young people spend their money as soon as they get it, I have seen young people blowing their monthly salaries in less than ten minutes by gambling, and I have no doubts there are probably more ways to do it but the amount of financial literacy on the young people is appalling.
That is normal for a young people because they are still young and they are lacking of experiences and also knowledge in managing money and that is life they need to experience such things like that kind of problems and they will learn from it as soon as they realized the things that they made a lot of wrong decision like the spending habits that they have.
You are correct but at the same time is not like they need to make the mistakes themselves in order to learn, they could learn by watching the mistakes of their peers, I know it is possible because that is what I did, some of my peers got into drugs, or became criminals, or got their girlfriend pregnant, I only avoided making mistakes like that.
2258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people are asking you about Bitcoin now? on: July 05, 2017, 03:03:34 AM
Well for me my brother was kinda asking about what bitcoin is and what you can do on bitcoin, I also told him some brief explanation[ on how you can earn bitcoin and what is the current market price of bitcoin today but he actually doesn't care about it because he don't see it that it is reasonable to earn that income $5 per week and now I'm earning $20 per week because eh always compare it to a legit job that you work 8 hours a day and hard work to earn like $800 in 2 weeks but its not like that bitcoin is increasing everyday and the value of the bitcoin is not stable it can sky rocket to the highest point than regular money were your per hour wage is the same until you quit and move to another job. I did not encounter other people who asked about bitcoin for help, but I was actually the one who asked for help into how can I earn bitcoins and one of my friend back home in my country taught me how to earn and now I'm doing it and earning every week.  Wink
At the moment bitcoin is not really a way to make money in a sustainable way, but it is very easy and maybe at some point we will get to the point in which making your living with bitcoin will be a normal thing, it was not long ago that making your living out of youtube was not common and now many people are doing it, maybe the same will happen to bitcoin.
2259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crime funded by bitcoin on: July 05, 2017, 03:01:06 AM
Criminals use local currencies too, does that mean we should ban them. In fact it is easy for a criminal to commit crime with fiat without being caught than Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency.
Those who hate Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency arent telling you exactly why they hate it.
Criminals will use the best and easiest tool for the job and for the moment that is fiat, bitcoin is too complicated for most people let alone criminals to use, when you add the fact that everything you do with your bitcoin can be tracked down then it is no wonder criminals still prefer to use fiat instead of bitcoin for their nefarious purposes.
2260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will people start moving their savings to Bitcoin in case of a financial crash? on: July 04, 2017, 10:01:43 PM
...

I agree with above comments that some savings will move into Bitcoin in a financial crash.  BTC could still go down even if some money goes into it, because other holders may need to sell to pay bills...

But, as deisik suggested, the time to get started is NOW (if you do not have BTC and/or gold).

It is always smart to be diversified, especially in times of financial crisis.  US stocks are down 1% or so as I write (tech stocks even more).
There are those that think they are going to benefit from a crash of the economic system, but the truth is  if the economy crashes, you will need to use your bitcoin to survive, so you will lose most of what you have as most people, bitcoin mostly will be like an insurance policy, so you do not have to suffer as much as those that did not take the right precautions.
