Oh, I misunderstood, thought you meant only bad replies come fast including this one. I get it now.

Good point:

I swear I've never gotten a useful reply that quickly  Roll Eyes

I swear I've never gotten a useful reply that quickly  Smiley

Interesting, I read it the second way (as intended by the author). I didn't even consider the first possibility.

I wonder what exactly determines which way one reads it.

I'm also astonished that I didn't even realize there was ambiguity at all until quite a few posts later. I wonder how often this happens to me? Did you guys spot this from the beginning?

Yeah, I didn't see the other reading at all until pointed out. I think if you know the person at all you probably pick the right reading automatically.

That was a useful reply no?

Yes, and it's never happened that fast on the intertubes

2325  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make bitcoin be worth more? on: April 30, 2012, 07:37:54 PM
I'm not saying that the price being high is best for everyone, just that if it was higher I'd be richer and build more Bitcoin stuff. I'm probably not the only one like that. In a global sense the price has to be higher for a lot of businesses to join in. A total 'currency base' worth less than $50M isn't going to work for thousands or millions of large Bitcoin businesses. Adoption raises price and price raises adoption possibilities so I'm not saying that we need to pump it up or something in order to get wider adoption, only that the two will come (or not) together.

Somewhat unrelated, I always try to get good deals on labor and labor always tries to get good deals from me.

Write the check to cash, take it to your bank and if it's good (maybe even if it isn't who knows) they'll give you cash. Give cash to SanFranco (SanFricite?)
2329  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing BitcoinAdvertisers.com THE MONEY MAKING MONSTER! on: April 30, 2012, 02:21:43 AM
Trying this. It gives a 'preview' but it is still in boxes. You ought show exactly how it will look.

Also just take 0 confirms, no one is going to screw you in this spot.

2334  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SR $100k+ bitcoin scam on: April 29, 2012, 06:46:55 PM
why would mt. gox's june hack count but allinvain's claim of coins stolen don't?  allinvain's was a bigger amount, in terms of dollars, but not the biggest in actual bitcoins involved.  that prize goes to the linode hacking.   bitcoinica alone had 40k bitcoins stolen and add to that was smaller chunks from slush and others at the same time.  more than $200k u.s. dollars worth at the time.

sr can probably do what paypal does by holding funds for a couple weeks so that there is less incentive for a seller to attempt this scam.

SR does that but you can 'finalize' early. I don't know why exactly, but I think people do it with trusted sellers.

Ok, "https://sealswithclubs.eu" will work. I'll get the others fixed soon.

2337  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu - Active Bitcoin Poker Site, Open To All Players on: April 29, 2012, 04:45:04 PM
Anyone having trouble is probably using sealswithclubs.org, that got screwed up somehow. Try "https://sealswithclubs.eu" directly.
2338  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu - Active Bitcoin Poker Site, Open To All Players on: April 29, 2012, 04:34:25 PM

2339  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make bitcoin be worth more? on: April 29, 2012, 04:02:40 PM
And an even better question, why did it not die like all the pundits predicted?

And maybe the best question...

"How to Make bitcoin be worth more?" <--  Why?  What does that do for bitcoin?  Do you expect more people to start using if it trades at $20 instead of $5?

I can pay for a lot more development on my bitcoin sites at $20 than $5. I earmarked 1000BTC for development, advertising and promos for Seals. At the time that would have gotten me $15k worth of value, by the time I used the bulk of it it got me about $3k in value. The value of Bitcoin is the health of Bitcoin.
2340  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Mt. Gox price fall below Mt. Gox price 365 days ago? on: April 29, 2012, 03:21:18 AM
To whoever voted April 29, that's no longer possible. There was a big dip, but not enough to wipe out the lead we still have. Tommorow, we have another chance of reaching the parity, but if we don't, there will be a lull period until we get another chance.

funny how 2012-05-11 is picked twice

what was the price 365 days ago, and why is it important?
It isn't so much important as it is a random statistic. Since July 2011, Bitcoin has posted huge gains from the time 12 months ago. While nobody would claim that Bitcoin's price has gone up recently, it still has held above its price 365 days before (a "yearly" gain). The bubble will likely change that.

2012-05-11 is probably picked more often because it was the first choice, and people bandwagoned. Such is life.

That's the day the price spiked up over the current price. So assuming steady price till then, that will be the day.
Oh, right. That makes sense, but it's still unusual in that none of the dates around it were picked. The issue is, the thread did say 365 days ago and not a year ago. February 29 sort of messes that reasoning up.

The spike happened on the 10th.... so people ought be picking the 9th?
