3161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Legality of selling sexual items online (Age verification with Bitcoins) on: November 03, 2011, 11:26:41 PM

No no, I think your on the correct path that sounds about right. I don't know the "exact" gambling laws but I know saying they are Illegal is a lot easier then to attempt to explain something I know little about.

Well sure it's easier, but it's a big difference for people who care about the law, which I get the impression is still a lot of people.
3162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Legality of selling sexual items online (Age verification with Bitcoins) on: November 03, 2011, 05:41:33 PM

When ordering over the phone or online... correct me if I'm wrong but none of them will ask you to copy of your photo ID. The creditcard/debit card is already proof enough. Obviously i didn't use the "Credit card proves your are 18 or older" correctly but I thought I'd make it easier on everyone to read less.....

of course maybe gambling is an exception but on-line gambling is completely outlawed in USA basically.

I've never done that.

It isn't. Do you have a cite?

Online gambling isn't illegal in the US? Goddamn, a lot of sites moved offshore and started using 'credits' for a legit enterprise.

If it wasn't illegal.... why are they moving off shore....?

It is illegal to mislabel the financial transactions that USED to be required to fund accounts and pay winnings. Because of banking regulations the only way to get the transactions processed was to mislabel them. None of that means gambling is illegal, it means it's impossible to legally do it using dollars. This is suddenly a relevant distinction.

Or maybe it is illegal and someone can point me to the relevant writings.
3163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Doublespend Protection Insurance on: November 03, 2011, 05:11:49 PM
Would be a good precursor to a 51% attack to break the "cohension" of the good miners by creating multiple "double spend blocks" and fragment the network hashing power into multiple sub-chains.

I'm almost positive this isn't how it works. There are orphaned blocks and short splits all the time. If half the network is working on 160543A and half on 160543B this doesn't make it easier for an attacker to rewrite 160543. Someone who knows this stuff please confirm.

Okay so google is not being nice to me. What does everyone think about cheaper in bitcoins selling passion party stuff and/or Adult DVD stuff?
The issue is that I can't find anything in the legal system(penal code) (using google) about selling 18+ stuff.. can someone point me in the correct direction?

Normally a credit card proves that you are 18+ but how should we go about this with bitcoins? (Lets keep it within USA legality terms, unless you specifically state that you are talking about out of USA legal issues)

A credit card is not proof of age.

The same is true for the US - Obama is not really to blame for the real fundamental problems. Rather, it's a couple generations of people who've grown up to believe Government should provide for them.

I wonder if that's because the government said "pay your taxes and we'll provide R, Q, W, X, Y, and Z and you won't have to worry about them".

The first monthly race is over and coffee codes have been emailed. A new monthly race starts today. And of course the weekly races continue with 30BTC given away every week.
3168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Warning: How many of you Bears have ever been a victim of a Short Squeeze? on: November 01, 2011, 12:26:26 PM
somebody wants in!

nice little wall right at the bid.  when have we seen that before?

Notice how over time the bids are building up.  I predict that eventually a massive wave of downward pressure is going to push the price way back into the 2s and maybe even the 1s.

What? Bids building up represents money seeking coins. How does that indicate a drop?
3169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how long ago did you heard about Bitcoin? Poll! on: November 01, 2011, 08:08:03 AM
Another interesting question: How long until you bought/mined your first coins?

I had heard of bitcoin around April and bought my first coins in May.

That is a good question. Took me about 24 hours.
3170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: when should you shoot a cop on: October 31, 2011, 10:29:16 AM
NEVER

He just wiped his ass with your favorite flag and is raping your wife and yelling about how he's going to kill your kids.
3171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Latest top 100 bitcoin list on: October 31, 2011, 07:03:21 AM
But the top 5 is getting bigger.

Mt Gox is apparently pulling in a lot of BTC. I don't know if they are allowed to sell on their own exchange.

Who would stop them?

Besides their profit is not what is that big it is 'our' coins they hold. That's why this is a bit silly to worry on.
3172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Latest top 100 bitcoin list on: October 31, 2011, 06:53:57 AM
But the top 5 is getting bigger.

What are the chances any of those are owned by 1 person anyway?
3173  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A lot of BTC just destroyed: Block 150951 on: October 31, 2011, 01:27:35 AM
Either that, or a really nasty BTC virus that:  rather than stealing your money, just destroys it...

No reason for that.  If the attacker can send someone's coins to nowhere then the attacker can also send it to their account.  It is no harder to destroy than steal.

I agree.

But maybe...

Make levered bets on the price going up. Credibly destroy tons of coins with viral malware. Your coins and bets profit you greatly and you never have to touch coins with a tainted history.

3175  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Ads - Pay Per Click - Who is currently available? on: October 31, 2011, 01:16:20 AM
min payout of 5 btc means most people will be waiting years to earn anything from op fab.

but it sounds like you might actually have a chance.

I talked to a guy who said they were paying every 1BTC. I don't know why it's like that. But it would not take a year to make 5 for the few serious sites on there.
3176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: German hackers discover government spying on: October 30, 2011, 08:50:35 PM
Its pretty well known that the german government monitors the media as part of its anti-facist efforts. Its the same reason a lot of organisations are classed as terrorist becuase they promote facism and suchlike, and why some games and films are more readily banned than in other countries.

Lol, "Hi, we're the government and we're here to watch YOU. Just trying to prevent fascism."

4. Bitcoin will be regulated and legal - SilkRoad closes - price goes down

Oh man yeah  Huh Huh Huh

and what if they make the drugs illegal too  Huh Huh Huh

what will you smoke before you post?

Is it not clear that SR doesn't care about 'regulations'? Am I on drugs?

Maybe not on drugs - but apparently rather frustrated.  What happened?

Anyway - just use your imagination.

Must have been in extreme state of mind. But always it bothers me when people are like "Oh, x will be regulated/outlawed and then close". Obviously not the case. And double dumb when talking about an entity that is already shirking laws. Okay, maybe SR decided it cares about regs on bitcoin use even though they don't care about regs on drugs, but 100% chance someone else will come along to profit by ignoring the laws.
3178  Economy / Speculation / Re: Occupy Wall St. Debating whether convert funds over to Bitcoin on: October 29, 2011, 09:19:26 PM
From the article, seems as if the money decisions are decided by a vote of everyone - but very few people actually 'understand money', and many of the protesters just let the 'money guys' of the protest handle it.

This is rather ironic.
3179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best technology to use for a face-to-face BTC transaction. on: October 28, 2011, 06:46:25 PM
make the buyer get his laptop or smart phone over to you. give him the address, and ask him to send the bitcoins.

So the buyer must have laptop/smart phone. And how to give him the address? SMS, Email or is he going to key it in? How am I to confirm, how long to wait?

Think about the practicalities. Maybe I have 20 or 30 people picking up items that day - I want something streamlined that I'm not fiddling over each time.

Learn the firstbits of one of your addresses, give it to the payer. They are often 6 chars or shorter. Firstbits.com.

For verification, just watching them pay is pretty good unless it is a huge amount. If huge wait to see it in blockexplorer.

Love this!  I don't really plan to use it but glad it is there.  OP - the writing on your site is pretty good, I like that you went into a bit of depth on some things. However, might want to check grammar/spelling a couple more times:

"We are The mixing service that will not loose it's balance because of “poorly configured backups” or because of someone hacking into another site on the same shared hosting."

Bad sentence =)

I wish you luck with this site and hope it is very profitable for you, so long as you fulfill your promises to customers. Also love the name - but you should have your logo done more professionally, it doesn't currently do justice to the great name (mostly referring to the font styling... the foggy coins are good in concept).

Yeah, gl OP.

I agree about text, make it different (haha, helpful I know). Maybe put it above the coins and have the fog that covers the coins billowing out from below the text.
