Wouldn't it make more sense to dead drop the dollars or gold and sell the location for coins? I mean how are you going to send the old money without linking the buyer and seller together anyway?
You could do it anyway you want. Leave the old money in the same place after pickup. For me, the fun is in searching for Bitcoins. It's about the experience. Ah, got it. I was thinking more like super-secret covert exchange stuff. I can see how those geocashing hunts are fun. And everything is better with Bitcoin.

What is the current back up plan? Typing the whole address? Send a text and copy/paste?
Firstbits may not be useful where we need a unique address for every sale. But I do like the idea. The invoice that the business creates has the QR code, but the merchant can click the "Email" button at the top and email the instructions to the customer, or copy and paste the address into a text message to the customer. So there are 2 backups if the customer cannot scan. Take a look at the Invoice screenshot here: https://bit-pay.com/aboutMobile.htmlIt's a little bit extra work, but it isn't expensive to prepare thousands or hundreds of thousands. Use SendMany to do a few thousand at a time sending 1 satoshi. Someone was even saying that you can prepare to have addresses with 0 output, but it hardly matters. Maybe this is anti social behavior though since those get logged forever.

Very nice.
Have you thought about making a firstbits input option? The scan looked really easy and smooth, but might be good in case a scanner/camera was broken or just not working. What is the current back up plan? Typing the whole address? Send a text and copy/paste? Also with firstbits you could just have the server say it. You would then have to retype the amount, but since they are typing a tip anyway maybe not so terrible.
Anyway, this is really good stuff, congrats.

If it's beneficial to restrict trade to within the town, why don't they just create a unique currency for each household, so that each household buys locally from itself. Everyone will be rich!
Since I started buying exclusively from myself I've had a lot more business (fewer pencils though).

Usually I go to bitcoin.org and then click the forum link there, that takes me to google and then click the first url, which is bitcointalk.org
For some reason that is now gone? Was it removed intentionally? If so, that cant be good, because how would "newcomers" know where the community is, and not end up with a scammers forum that promises the world for installing a nice btc trojan.....
I get the whole point of severing the link and decentralizing it, but killing it from google? Or am I just completely wrong?
Maybe this isn't where the community is.

i think 'bitcoin' is like 'google' in that it'll seem very valuable once people are more used to seeing valuable things associated with it.
imagine a very expensive car with personalized license plate that simply says [B-I-T-C-O-I-N]
(i priced one in Queensland, Australia and it's about $7000 at the moment - more than my old car is even worth)
anyway once that kind of thing becomes more prevalent, the word will gradually become more associated with high wealth.
Lol, wut? A licence plate costs 7k? a personlised 7-character QLD plate does yes. the standard plate here is 3 letters, 3 numbers, so the 7-character "choose your own combination" plates are limited offer and premium-priced. www.ppq.com.auby the way, if you care to look through 2nd-hand sales of premium license plates, some crazy rare ones like "A" can go for $100k+ That is crazy. I think they are $50-$100 here, but you can't reuse them, at least not give to another person.

I am a newbie here.. =)
I've got few question hope someone can help me here.
1) How can i keep my wallet because i am going to format my computer? i've got some coin in it. 2) Does the bitcoin software have to be on always to receive bitcoin? 3) Why my bitcoin address will change by itself? Will the bitcoin burn if my wallet address is different at the mining threshold one?
please... can help me out?
You need to save wallet.dat somewhere safe. Ideally multiple places and encrypted. You do not need to have the software running to receive coins. Kind of like email, you'll find out about it when you come back. Your addresses aren't really changing, it is just making a new one for you often. You always have the old ones. Using new ones all the time makes your transactions harder to match together.
