2341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anybody have any suggestions for investing in Bitcoin? on: January 24, 2021, 04:22:24 PM
There are lot notions around the number one digital currency investment. Potential investors from Wall Street think that it might not be the best for them to invest in Bitcoin. Some people skepticism arise a result of record exchange hacks and also lot of scammers in various social media platform.
Financial expert advisor have different opinions about the bitcoin future despite the huge profit risk takers  made during this year rally. What is your legit suggestion  in investing into bitcoin base on the level of your exposure to the blockchain industry?

I have 9 plus years of experience in investing with Bitcoin and I guess that is enough to provide a few bits if advice. Bitcoin is not a mainstream investment asset like equity, bullion or real estate. And unlike the case with equity or treasury bond, you don't need the help from anyone to invest in Bitcoin, or to store your assets. Now this may be one of the reason why the Wall Street is not very happy about Bitcoin.

Now coming to the wallet hacks, unfortunately it is very common these days. But in 99.9% of the cases, the users are to be blamed for not taking basic precautions such as 2FA. If you have 2FA, then there is a very remote chance that your wallet will get hacked.
2342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starve the beast - CSW on: January 24, 2021, 01:59:54 PM
It never works. There are thousands of small-sized cryptocurrency exchanges around and CSW can easily purchase a few dozen of them and keep his BSV shitcon floating. BSV is already banned from most of the large-scale and medium-scale exchanges, after CSW did some drama in mid-2019. But back then, then entire episode proved to be beneficial for him. When the exchanges delisted BSV, the prices crashed and CSW accumulated as many coins as he could. After that (within 1-2 months) there was a massive pump, triggered by him. According to reliable sources, he sold a large number of coins at that point and earned a large profit. We should be careful not to give any such opportunity to him this time around.
2343  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin's price drop to 30K healthy? on: January 24, 2021, 01:48:47 PM
I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with the drop from $42K to $32K, while hardly anyone here mentions that before this happened there was a rally from $10,000 to $42,000. With any asset, be it cryptocurrency, equity or bullion, if there is a rally which cause an increase in the price by 3x or 4x, we can expect a correction to follow. What is happening now is the expected correction. Once the prices stabilize, the next rally will start.
2344  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: January 24, 2021, 01:31:07 PM
This looks like a bug, but I cannot reproduce it but please tell us in support which are the cards where you get this behaviour.

It seems as if the bug has been removed. I tried purchasing Amazon coupons from the product page and the price I saw before the last step was the same as that was displayed earlier. And regarding the type of gift cards, I faced this issue only with Amazon. Because during this month I didn't purchased any other gift card. But I remember that I just tested with another brand and I saw a price increase there as well. Anyway, now it looks as if the issue is resolved.
2345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: do we really need stable coin? on: January 24, 2021, 01:21:11 PM
If you ask me, then my answer is NO.

My association with cryptocurrency is almost 9 years old. And during this entire period, I have never used USDT, PAXUSD, USDC or any other stablecoin. I have my account with at least a dozen exchanges, however I mostly use them to convert one cryptocurrency to the other. On a few occasions, I sold my crypto for fiat cash, and on such occasions I kept the fiat cash as such rather than converting to stablecoin.
2346  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's next for bitcoin after supply drain? on: January 24, 2021, 01:11:03 PM
As the title says, what happens. As the supply goes lower, the prices/demand go up but what happens when the supply is drained? Will we ever reach a price ceiling or the prices will still go up? I do not know any other question that I can think of but if you have one, feel free to reply on this thread if you have other questions.

Unlike the case with equities or mutual funds, the Bitcoin exchange rates are almost purely dependent on the supply-demand situation. If the supply and demand are in some sort of equilibrium, then the prices will remain stable. When the supply gets squeezed, the prices will go up and the rally will stop only when the demand from buyers will go below the level of that from the sellers.

Look at the markets now. The prices have now stabilized, because most of those who were planning to purchase BTC have already done so. Now the pressure is on sellers, as they have become the more numerous group.
2347  Economy / Economics / Re: Florida bank says it has closed Trump's accounts on: January 24, 2021, 01:01:22 PM
Now after the social media platforms and Google, it is the turn of bankers to go after Trump? Why can't these people simply mind their own business and stay away from politics? If they want to enter politics, then let them do that legally. No one bars them from making a donation to any political party, or to put up a candidate in the elections. But closing down bank accounts, just because of political difference is outright silly. People in general doesn't have a good opinion about the bankers. it will be better for them not to exacerbate the hatred.
2348  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin is growing thanks to institutions. on: January 24, 2021, 12:51:14 PM
This is not the only institute, but there are some more individuals here who contribute to the development of bitcoins.

As of late a Mexico's second most extravagant individual named "Ricardo Salinas Pliego" put their 10% in bitcoins and afterward, he says that crypto is the best way to secure your wealth.
All the individual who uses the bitcoin is contributing to the development of bitcoins.

I have seen a lot of people make this claim here in Bitcointalk and it's not accurate.

Ricardo Salinas Pliego didn't put 10% of his wealth in Bitcoin. He is worth around $13 billion and that would have meant an investment of $1.3 billion (at that time it would have accounted for 100,000 BTC).

What he said is that around 10% of his liquid assets are in Bitcoin. And there is a huge difference between total assets and liquid assets. For most of the billionaires, liquid assets represents 1% or less than that of their portfolio. Unfortunately fake news factories such as Coin Telegraph twisted the news and presented it as Mr.Pliego having 10% of his total wealth in the form of BTC.
2349  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How will Trump leave the White House? on: January 24, 2021, 12:41:10 PM
It's just the collateral of cancelling those projects which is pretty much not necessary and waste of the budget.

The opposition of local communities due to the spillage of oils from the pipeline is enough to stop the project.

Is the proposed Keystone pipeline the first oil pipeline that would run through the mainland United States? If that was the case, then I would have supported your views. There are a total of 4 million km of oil/gas pipelines in the United States. What makes this pipeline any different from any of them? Well.. the only difference is that if the pipeline is commissioned, then it may cause a drop in the crude oil prices and that will have a negative impact on countries such as Saudi Arabia and Russia. Biden will do his best to keep oil prices above $100 per barrel level. The next step will be a blanket ban on shale oil.
2350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another insane win!! $ 1B mega million jackpot on: January 24, 2021, 12:31:04 PM
The tax is very huge the money he still get is also a lot , well that is the protocol of the government about tax so they operate the gambling legal or having permt. Mega million jackpot is huge amount of money and I hope someday that I'll be the one who gonna win to the lottery even not billion Im contented to the millions because it a lot of money that can secure my future. In my country the highest winning in the history is 700 million and many people tried their luck to bet and to win of course, but only 2 get the exact number it was happened few years ago and they are now instant millionaire but I hope those people who are winning lottery will use it in good way because some of them are losing all money by buying and spending not important things.

The tax system for lottery winnings in the United States is just ridiculous. Lottery winnings are tax free in countries such as Australia and the European Union, because the lottery ticket sales are already taxed once. If they deduct taxes from the lottery winning as well, then it will amount to double taxation. But this logic is not applicable in the United States. They will tax both the lottery ticket sales and the winning amount.

And this is how it works:

Jackpot amount: $1 billion
Lump Sum amount: $739.6 million
Cash in hand, after federal income tax: $465.98 million
Cash in hand, after state income tax: $394.834 million for New York

So the jackpot winner is going to receive less than 40% of the claimed amount in his bank account after all the deductions.
2351  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-01-21 BBG - Bitcoin Plunge Has Newbies Scrambling to Google Double-Spend on: January 24, 2021, 12:21:54 PM
So it was Cointelegraph, which spread the fake news? If that was the case, then I am not surprised. They have a habit of dishing out fake news. But their fake news and clickbait articles were largely ignored by the community, as they had such a terrible reputation. So what changed now? Why so many people took them seriously this time around? Anyway, such corrections are good for the cryptocurrency market. It will make sure that the noobs sell their BTC and make their exit. We don't need them here.
2352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biden treasury secretary nominee Yellen says "curtail bitcoin" on: January 24, 2021, 12:11:14 PM
3 years ago I bought and sold BTC for cash . No one here asked my name .
I think you still can buy BTC at an atm, but to sell it to an exchange for cash , you now have to verify ( so they can report you to government ).

That very act of them bowing to government regulation, is prof government can step up regulations ,and exchanges will stay bowed down in submission.

I see no future in BTC, now that exchanges are controlled by governments.

My problem with the KYC process is not about paying taxes. I want to protect my anonymity. And I don't want the government authorities to target me, since they know that I am a cryptocurrency user. Yellen has already stated that she would like to see Bitcoin banned by the government. At this time, no cryptocurrency user should be stupid enough to undergo the KYC process, so that the exchanges can provide your personal details to the government.

2354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: January 22, 2021, 05:37:53 AM
I am sure he can run the US government, but he must take care of his health. As a president of USA, he has a lot of homework that needs to be done, and that is why I say that he should worry with his ages because if we compare with the young people, he has a big gap of the ages, and his strength and health will be susceptible. But I am sure that people around Biden will protect him and make sure that he fit when he works.

Even during the campaigning, Biden faced a lot of issued related to his health. Trump was campaigning almost non-stop and was attending 4-5 rallies per day, while Biden could manage an average of only one campaign rally per day. And unlike Trump, Biden hasn't released his medical records. So we don't know whether he is suffering from any serious ailments or not.
2355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 22, 2021, 05:23:42 AM
There are heaps of praises for Dravid from former players and the way in which the young players took over and played without fear and it shows the bench strength which is scary for many teams as majority of the teams will struggle if they need to replace one or two players and India won the series even though they had to replace almost the entire team and five players making their debut for India and still winning the series is unheard to be frank and all the credits to nurturing youngsters .

There are a lot of factors, and influence from Dravid and NCA was definitely one of the most important ingredients. All this once again confirms that the player pool for India is very deep and rich in quality. And India has managed to achieve this, despite the poor quality of their domestic cricket structure. And it looks like IPL has become the most important avenue for the younger Indian players, rather than Ranji Trophy.
2356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Toronto women win jackpot lottery on: January 21, 2021, 07:05:15 AM
$60 million that's worth the wait it is faith that keeps them believing that they will one day hit the jackpot, they are a good example of not giving up and believing that you will hit a jackpot, I'm sure the lottery people will use them as an example that if you keep on, you will eventually hit the jackpot and winners don't give up only losers.

Well... the problem is that we always hear about the winners. But hardly ever anyone mentions about the losers. During one of my visits to India, I came to know the story of one middle-aged individual who committed suicide a few days back. His wife was saying that he used to purchase lottery tickets every day (without a break) for 25+ years. Used to spend around 40%-50% of his earnings for the purchase of tickets. He kept the faith, but luck always evaded him. Eventually he was neck-deep in debt and was forced to commit suicide. Now all that remains is a bag full of expired lottery tickets, numbering in tens of thousands.
2357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: January 21, 2021, 06:54:13 AM
I joined this forum almost 9 years back in 2012 and have been participating in various signature campaigns ever since 2013. My first campaign was the PrimeDice signature campaign, which used to pay BTC2.40 per month (with the current exchange rates, that would be around $84,000 per month). Now I am not sure about how much of that amount I used for gambling. My guess is that it will be somewhere around 5% to 10%. I don't even remember how much I earned from various signature campaigns till now.. so it is really hard to make the calculations.
2358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits $40k on: January 21, 2021, 06:35:39 AM
The M1 money supply for the United States Dollar has almost doubled in just 12 months. This will have a huge impact on inflation in the coming years. Assets which are protected against inflation, such as gold and Bitcoin are expected to rally. And even more worrying is the fact that the stimulus measures are expected to continue for at least one more year. This will further devalue the US Dollar.
There is simply no way around this, governments are trying to justify their policies using modern monetary theory, but that theory is nothing but a bunch of wishes, it took us a long time and a lot of suffering but we understand now very well how an economy works and printing an unlimited amount of money forever is simply not sustainable and inflation sooner or later is going to raise if they keep printing money, but unfortunately for them they are going to be trapped in a cycle from which they cannot get out and the only way forward will be to print even more money and that is when assets like gold and bitcoin will really shine.

Gold prices are not rising only because a lot of people are selling their gold holdings (especially in countries such as India). The COVID 19 pandemic has left a lot of people in difficult financial situation, and many of them are forced to sell their gold coins and jewelry. However, this hasn't caused a crash in the gold prices, because the demand is equally strong. In fact I would even say that gold would be witnessing a rally similar to what we have with Bitcoin, if the pandemic was not there.
2359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often are people really hacked out of their BTC? on: January 21, 2021, 06:21:15 AM
I do not get hacked so far, but I have the other bad experience before. My account can not access because the site is not online, and I got that experience early when I knew crypto. We already read about many accounts being hacked. Many of them are getting hacked because a little mistake such as do not activate the 2FA. It seems they do not care about their account and else. We can not feel 100% safety from hacker because they will search for a new target.

In 99% of the cases, simply enabling 2FA may help to prevent hacking attempts. But then if your computer is compromised (with keylogger or trojans), then even 2FA will be of limited use. In order to add an extra layer of security, you need to make sure that the email address and phone number that you are using for 2FA remains hidden from the public view. It will be better not to use this email id for any other purpose.

Forgot the Rahul Tewatia magic and there were some impressive performance and wins as well.

Rahul Tewatia batted at lower order and he didn't got much opportunities to prove his batting capabilities. But whenever he got a chance, he made the most use out of it. But IPL 2020 was extremely disappointing for the Rajasthan Royals, as they finished rock bottom of the points table. Even the CSK managed to finish ahead of them despite the horrible start they had.
