Regarding the lack of quality vaccines, ALL - I absolutely agree! This is a huge and critical problem today. Probably, international structures and funds should think about "buying out" licenses for the production of high-quality licenses and transferring licenses for production to pharmaceutical companies all over the world. This is one of the options that can make it possible to establish a mass product. Unfortunately, the world is not ready for such situations - no production is ready to provide the entire market with the necessary drugs in a short time, this takes time, but time is against us.

Well.. there were requests from poorer nations, made to the pharma giants such as Pfizer and Moderna to forfeit their IP for the CoVID 19 vaccine, but these corporations refused to do so. Now I am aware of the huge investment they have put in order to develop these vaccines. So the UN or some other global body should have reached a mutually beneficial deal with both the sides, to make sure that everyone receives the vaccines on time. Right now, everyone is left to fend for themselves.
1462  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: May 03, 2021, 05:39:33 PM
Also: I have not been in a situation where I go to buy something and local currency is rejected.
This mostly happens when one is trying to make a big deal, like a house, a car or specific good and services where the local currency will be likely rejected as payment method, in general retailers will take it at the exchange rate of the day.

Being a shopkeeper might be really tough in Venezuela. With the currency devaluing every day, I don't know how they are managing the situation. Maybe they are taking an additional margin while accepting payments in the local currency. I really don't know why the government is not allowing USD as a legal tender. So many people are using it, and it makes no sense to ban it's usage (although the ban is not enforced). If they make it legal, at least it would reduce the suffering of ordinary people to some extent.
1463  Economy / Economics / Re: China to overtake the Us as the largest global economy by 2028? on: May 03, 2021, 05:24:17 PM
Okay, how sure are they about all that? Maybe the pandemic has been really bad and has caused a lot of things to happen and also pushed the US economy to a point where it’s low at this point, because they didn’t take a quick action to stop contain it before it became a wild fire.

As for China, we all know how it all happened, the whole world were pissed with them for not giving out information and the way they were able to contain it easily made the world to feel like they were the mastermind behind it all lol. Anyway, the future is one thing that no man can tell, we can only assume that something is going to happen based on what we are seeing at the moment, but things can still change at any moment.

Don't you think that there is something strange with this? China is where the virus first originated. And yet, they have reported less than 5,000 deaths. On the other hand, the United States has reported close to 600,000 deaths. Can anyone explain the reason for this difference? Is anyone going to argue that the healthcare system in China is much better when compared to that in the United States? Or is someone going to claim that the population density in the US is more than that in China?
1464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dubai's Government and Gambling on: May 03, 2021, 05:10:21 PM
Well, this is one of the reasons that we cannot trust everything they post on the internet, because it could be false information.

Dubai and the United Arab Emirates are countries that receive several tourists, if legalized gambling, some money could enter in country and could help the economy.

I don’t know the politics and culture of these people are, I just don’t understand why these countries don’t legalize
ps: I may have said something stupid, because I don't really know these countries.

LOL.. do you really think that the United Arab Emirates, and the Emirate of Dubai in particular needs to attract tourists to boost up their GDP?  There are only around 1 million Emirati citizens and the UAE produce 3.8 million barrels of crude oil per day. That is 3.8 barrel of oil for every citizen per day!!! And they own some of the world's most valuable sovereign wealth funds. The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority alone holds assets worth $710 billion. Still think they need tourism to survive?
1465  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which Covid 19 Vaccine is is the best ? on: May 03, 2021, 04:47:19 PM
Moderna vaccine is about as effective and can be stored at lower temperatures, so it might be easier to get depending on where you live. Quick check around me shows that smaller pharmacies tend to have Moderna or J&J, less often Pfizer.

Moderna has completely failed as far as mass production is concerned. They have produced far below their own estimates and have shipped most of the vaccine vials to the United States. Obviously the Moderna vaccine doesn't need deep freezing at -70 degrees Celsius, but they have produced less vials when compared to Pfizer. Even in the US (where Moderna shipped almost all of their doses), Pfizer outnumber Moderna by 40 million doses or so.
1466  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism: Venezuela raises monthly minimum wage to $2.40 on: May 03, 2021, 11:52:57 AM
An absolutely expected situation. It is a pity for people, but they themselves are the culprits of what has developed in the country now. It is foolish to build an economy on oil alone, it is foolish to elect a dim-witted populist president. I hope the population will understand that it is necessary to vote not for promises, but for logical goals. I hope that politicians will also understand that it is impossible to build an economy on oil alone. And all together will be able to "restart" the country. But if you continue to believe in the communist-socialist delirium, then you should not expect a normal life.

I don't think that you should blame the people of Venezuela. They had two options in 2013 (after the death of Hugo Chávez). The first choice was Nicolás Maduro of the Socialist party and the second choice was Henrique Capriles Radonski (who represented the Primero Justicia party). A lot of people were scared by the religious extremism of Capriles and additionally the death of Chávez created some sort of a sympathy wave in favor of Maduro. The people voted for the least poisonous option, and that turned out to be Maduro. If Capriles was elected, then he would have destroyed what remains of the Venezuelan portion of the Amazon forest (similar to what his friend Bolsonaro did in Brazil) and exterminated the indigenous groups.
1467  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffett & "Rat Poison" on: May 03, 2021, 11:40:11 AM
That is most certainly a possibility,  I think the younger generation that will be his successor will have a lighter approach towards btc than Buffet, he is an old timer and believe in investment that have physical appearance or stand, btc is digital and can't be grasp physically, this is something that Buffet find confusing and can't accept,  I really can't blame him though,  not everyone from his generation gets btc and crypto in general but some just decide to go along with this magnificent technology regardless,
Lol, describing btc as a 'Rat Poison'  is so hilarious  Grin

He's just jealous that others are becoming rich. It took a long time for him to become a billionaire. He spent his entire life working hard, wasting his youth. Now in front of his eyes, he is witnessing youngsters in their 20s and 30s who have become millionaires from their investment in cryptocurrency and these people are enjoying their life (unlike Buffet). And it is natural for these 90 plus people to feel jealous about the younger Bitcoiners. Also, wealth is sometimes measured in a relative sense. If there are a lot of wealthy people, then the importance of wealth goes down. Buffet definitely doesn't want that.
1468  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which Covid 19 Vaccine is is the best ? on: May 03, 2021, 11:27:52 AM
ROFL.. this is a purely politically motivated poll. I am not a big fan of Western pharmaceutical companies, but from the available data it is clear that the vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna have the highest efficacy (>95%). The OP hasn't included them in the poll, probably to favor his pick. On the other hand, the Sinovac vaccine has a single-dose efficiency of just 3%, according to a study performed by Universidad de Chile.
1469  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: May 03, 2021, 11:16:08 AM
COVID-21 is more dangerous then the COVID -19. And its the 2nd wave of corona virus. Many countries are affected from this virus. And India country is also one of them. But China's vaccine is suitable for this virus. It kills the virus and make anti bodies for virus.

Why you are promoting the Chinese vaccine? I have already posted about this in the Politics sub-section of this forum. Chinese vaccines have a single-dose efficiency of only 3%, when compared to 73% for the Sputnik V vaccine. A lot of countries trusted the Sinovac vaccine and spent billions of $$$ in purchasing them. Morocco, Turkey, Hungary, Serbia and Chile are among them and all of them are now regretting their decision. The 3% efficacy hardly makes any difference and people who once got this vaccine can't be inoculated with another more effective vaccine.
1470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 03, 2021, 11:05:21 AM

Thunderstorms are forecasted for tomorrow at Kandy, so if Bangladesh bats sensibly tomorrow, then they will have a chance to draw this match. But they will have zero chance if 90 overs of play is possible tomorrow. Liton Das is batting along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and both are very good batsmen capable of surviving for 40-50 overs. Given the weather forecast for tomorrow, that should be enough to hold Sri Lanka to a draw.

Update: Bangladesh lost by 209 runs

Bangladesh as usual in the losing track. Bangladesh are a good team, however they need to improve in test side otherwise this thing will repeat again and again. Congratulations Praveen on 10 wickets haul on Test debut. Amazing young talent, and such promising performance should be carried out. Hope upcoming ODI series will be competitive.

What to say?

All they had to do was to survive another 40-50 overs and the weather would have done the rest. But they couldn't even survive the first session of the 5th day. All the five wickets gone in just 23 overs. And look who got the wickets. The inexperienced spinners Ramesh Mendis and Praveen Jayawickrama shared 9 wickets between them (the remaining wicket went to Dhananjaya de Silva). If Bangladesh perform like this, then soon they will end up like Zimbabwe.
1471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: May 03, 2021, 10:54:21 AM
Maybe we can give Biden more time as we are still at the pandemic, which we never know when it will end. If Biden can give his best to his citizen, I think that can lift his popularity and be elected in the next Presidential election. Biden was tested in this pandemic, whether he can do his jobs by a concern to help the people and save them or he can not works as what he said in the election before. We hope that Biden can work and do many things for his people while Harris can help Biden's works so, in the next election, Harris can be known as one of many people who helps the people.

From what I have seen during the last few months, Biden's health condition doesn't look very good. Sooner or later, Harris will step in (either formally or informally). I don't know about how the Democrats are planning to do this, but my guess is that the initial two years will be given to Biden (at least nominally), before Harris take charge as the president. So in case you want to make a bid in favor of Harris, do it before she becomes the president. Once she becomes the president, the odds are going to be more biased.
1472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 03, 2021, 10:42:16 AM
Already netizen criticizes on the ongoing IPL, but The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will continue the popular franchises tournament any how. However, event like T20 World Cup won't take place in India with current scenario. T20 World Cup is in October November and I believe the situation would be in control till then. Meanwhile, the proposal of backup venue necessary. But, BCCI still look forward for playing in India.

The situation may improve by October. You may be right. But I am afraid that it may not improve to a degree so that biosecure bubbles won't be required. Also, I don't think that fans will be allowed in to the stadiums. Under these circumstances, it will be better to move the tournament to the United Arab Emirates, because I heard that a majority of the population there have been vaccinated against CoVID 19. And the ICC will benefit from low tax rate as well (actually zero taxes).
1473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 03, 2021, 10:31:48 AM
Finally the match between RCB and KKR is postponed because the players from the KKR camp test positive but i am not sure how that happened as i thought they were in a bubble throughout the tournament and it is interesting to see how the BCCI will deal with the issue if more players starts to test positive and how many matches they will be extending or will they be forced to stop the tournament and continue at a later time.

The foreign players will be affected badly as the flights are suspended and some countries has banned even citizens from India and if the BCCI plans to pause the tournament they will be stuck in India until everything is sorted.

I was expecting something like this. They can't just lockup 2,000 people and then do 24x7 surveillance. At least one or two individuals will get tired of the isolation inside the bubble and go out for some adventure. The same thing happened with the PSL as well. And members from multiple franchises have now tested positive for CoVID 19 (CSK and KKR), which means that the infection is spreading inside the bubble. I don't think that the BCCI now has any option other than to postpone the tournament.
1474  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 62%, alts lagging behind on: May 03, 2021, 10:20:05 AM
thing this has been changed a little bit as BTC dominant is just 47.8 according to coin market cap (https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/) , this is an indication that alts season is on the way

Well.. if you check my previous posts, then you can see that just one and half months back, the BTC dominance was above 60% level. There has been a massive surge in altcoin market cap since then. Now don't ask me whether this is sustainable or not. I have been here since 2012, and I have seen similar rallies in 2013 and 2017 as well. On both the occasions, towards the end of the bull run altcoins went up much more than Bitcoin. And on the second occasion (in 2017), the hype was so prevalent that useless shitcoins managed multi-billion market capitalizations.

Another one from India:

  https://www.bitchute.com/video/1uv0VHwNrf5W/

If you start to feel bad for these people, just remember that they are climate criminals who refused to control their breeding.  You can tell from the lady's kid shrieking in the background.  Gates is just saving us all from climate catastrophe.  You will love him.

I am just getting tired of the propaganda here. I clicked the link and it says that the video shows a lady being forcibly vaccinated against her will. I checked with my friends in India and they are saying that the incident involved a CoVID positive person, who refused home isolation and was therefore forcibly detained by the health workers. 3,000-4,000 people are dying in India every day, and you want these infectious people to roam around further spreading the virus? A massive propaganda campaign is going on in the Twitter and other social media platforms. These criminals are playing with people's lives and should be prosecuted.
1476  Other / Politics & Society / Re: India covid19 crisis on: May 02, 2021, 03:50:28 PM
So what now is going on to the 200M doses on India's 2nd wave of coronavirus? Should we not believe the news coming out that there are over 300K infected individuals daily?  Sinovac had been proven to be better than the rest and that is why the media already stopped criticizing it these days.

The companies in India ordered oxygen tanks actually from China base on the report and companies from China gladly send. Modi looks for somewhere else when there is China's nearby.

From what I heard, the government has started to import Sputnik V vaccines from Russia. And this vaccine has been proven to be of much higher efficacy when compared to the Chinese vaccines. According to Lancet, Sputnik V is having a single dose efficacy of 73.1% versus the single dose efficacy of 3% for the Sinovac vaccine. Double dose efficacy is 91.6% for Sputnik V versus 50.4% for Sinovac. For Sinovac, the double dose efficacy is not that bad, but for the Indian government there is not enough time to fully vaccinate everyone. So they are hoping to vaccinate as much people as possible with a single dose of either Sputnik V/ Covishield (AstraZeneca) / CoVaxin and reduce the incidence of new infections. With just 3% efficacy, Sinovac is unsuitable for this purpose.

https://www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n969

Quote
A study of the Sinovac rollout by the University of Chile reported that the vaccine was 56.5% effective two weeks after second doses were administered in the country. However, they also reported that one dose was just 3% effective (rising to 27.7% within two weeks of the second dose, and 56.5% two weeks later).
1477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 02, 2021, 03:34:17 PM
Their bowling department look okay but they got serious problem in batting department and particularly Indian talent pool is big let down for them. I don't see anything drastic changes in their remaining campaign, unless these indian batters up their game except Shankar and Jadhav, i have virtually no expectations from these 2 players in batting department.

I was literally shocked to see SRH bidding for Kedar Jadhav, and that too for such a huge amount. During the last season he was like a curse to the Chennai Super Kings, and played a large part in many of their defeats. This time around SRH seems to be cursed with his presence. So far he has made a grand total of 40 runs from 4 matches. I don't understand the point in including players such as Jadhav and Vijay Shankar in the playing XI. It is not going to hurt them, in case they include Jason Roy in place of Nabi and Priyam Garg for Jadhav.
1478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 02, 2021, 02:54:45 PM
Can anyone tell me why Anrich Nortje is still not playing for Delhi Capitals? The last time I heard, he was embroiled in some quarantine formality and was supposed to be available from the 4th match onwards. What happened after that? Punjab has started very slowly, probably due to the absence of KL Rahul. His replacement (Prabhsimran Singh) failed and therefore the burden to stabilize the innings fell on Mayank Agarwal. But at this point, their run rate is below 6 runs per over.

I heard that Biden is gearing up for a $6 trillion additional spending plan, which is conveniently named as the "American Families Plan". Obviously not all of this amount can be sourced from printing banknotes alone. Some of it needs to come from taxing successful people. The long term capital gains tax for the highest slab is about to touch 60% in cities such as LA and Portland. I don't understand why the successful people still want to remain in the United States. Is it that hard to renounce your citizenship and move to some Caribbean country?
