1441  Economy / Economics / Re: April 2021 set a new record India. How much effect in Indian economy? on: May 05, 2021, 07:52:48 AM
I am not sure whether the old class hierarchy is removed or not because people around the world share stories on the Internet about how they can't be with someone because they are of different classes. I am not an economist so I can't comment on their economic model but I am sure that they will be able to make something out of it because they have a growing population and they have to utilize that to collect taxes.

Tax liability needs to be on the same level for everyone. When I travelled to India, I was surprised to see rich farmers who roam around in BMWs and Audis pay zero tax (because farming income, without any upper limit is 100% tax-free). At the same time, there are these "salaried class" losers who pay up to 43% of their income in direct tax and more in indirect taxes (GST on software exports, labor tax.etc). These people are the most pathetic bunch. They have to pay half of their income as tax, and even after that they have no influence in the government. Here in Singapore, almost everyone pays tax. It doesn't matter whether you are a farmer or a software engineer.
1442  Economy / Economics / Re: Enjoy comunism: Venezuela raises monthly minimum wage to $2.40 on: May 05, 2021, 06:55:22 AM
And the people of the country - what is it, biomass crazy, needs and desires? Remember a simple axiom - we are responsible for our actions, and for inaction too!
If the people by OWN VOICES brings an idiot to the presidency, then the people are a participant in this negative process, and they share the guilt for what the president did later, but THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP IT! Therefore, their guilt is unambiguous, okay, they fell for promises, but then they did not stop the policy of idiocy and the murder of the economy. The position "we have nothing to do with" is a very bad human quality. It's always easier to pin the blame on someone else without admitting your mistakes.

If every single voter had preferred Maduro during the elections, then your argument would have been correct. But that is not the case here. Let's take an example. During the March 1933 German federal election, National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) of Adolph Hitler was voted in to power. The NSDAP won 43.91% of the vote, with a turnout of 88.74%. That means that less than 40% of the registered voters preferred the NSDAP, while the remainder either abstained or voted for other parties. Now will you say that the entire race of Germans need to be blamed for the rise of NSDAP, including those who voted for the opposition parties?
1443  Other / Politics & Society / Re: India covid19 crisis on: May 05, 2021, 06:44:27 AM
Opposition party doesn't have enough people to raise the voice against the ruling party due to the huge difference in numbers but these are not happening in one day, it is happening for very long time but now got the international media attention due to the covid 19. Poor medical infrastructure is the reason why people are dying and I want to repeat it, people are not dying due to corona they are dying due to lack of oxygen.

But India is a country who can spend few hundred billions to build the biggest statue of this earth, dump people got the power man! Cry

India is a federal republic and the states which have mismanaged the pandemic are all ruled by the opposition - Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab and Kerala. If the poor infrastructure is the reason for this, then the blame should fall on the opposition Congress party, which has ruled India for 7 decades. Why the BJP ruled states such as Assam and Tripura have the situation under total control, while the states such as Maharashtra are facing catastrophe? I am not an Indian citizen, but I would say that if the opposition was in power, then the death toll would have been two times by now.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 05, 2021, 06:32:22 AM
Most states are in lockdown and I guess they will remain until the end of June or early August. A lot of people are out of job and the next thing you will hear in the news is people dying because of hunger.

The central government has refused the opposition demand for a countrywide lockdown. I think this is justified, as states such as Assam and Tripura has the pandemic under control when compared to the states where it was mismanaged (Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat.etc). If the lockdown is imposed, it should be imposed only on those states which mismanaged the crisis. Why should states such as Assam suffer from the irresponsible behavior by other state governments? BTW, cricket at any level is simply not possible at least for the next 2-3 months. So if you are looking for a resumption of the IPL anytime soon, then you will be disappointed.
1445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB to $1k? on: May 05, 2021, 06:13:46 AM
BNB reaching $ 1k would certainly be possible, even based on my analysis, BNB could reach $ 2K by the end of 2022. Why? because BNB (Binance Coin) both in terms of price and volume continues to increase, it doesn't take long for BNB to be in 3rd place on the marketcap, in fact it will be very possible for BNB to beat ETH in 2nd place soon.

What is the logic in claiming that ETH will be overtaken by BNB? Ethereum has tens of millions of users and is used by thousands of porjects. On the other hand, the user base of BNB is much lower and very few projects use the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) as of now. Even at current levels, BNB is looking overpriced. The fair valuation of BNB is definitely lower than $50 billion market cap (i.e exchange rate of around $300-$350 per coin). $2K is definitely not possible in the near future.
1446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB to $1k? on: May 04, 2021, 06:43:25 PM
If BNB hits $1,000 per token, then its market cap needs to be around $150 billion. That may be possible by 2024 or 2025, but definitely not this year. Let's first compare the market cap of Coinbase with that of BNB. Coinbase is having a market cap of only around $56 billion, and even at this level, it is considered as overpriced by some of the analysts. And IMO, the market cap of BNB should be less than that of Coinbase. The current valuation is a long way away from the fair price, IMO.
1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 04, 2021, 06:31:10 PM
The peak will be reduced in the next week or two so the condition will become normal in 2 months maximum so they will be good to conduct the tournaments if everything goes normally.

I don't know about the IPl contract between the players where is something related to such emergency compensation is available but they paid good amount at the auction so they will also be happy with the money they got as long as BCCI is taking all the expenses until the IPL resumes.

How can we be so sure about the condition becoming normal in another 2 months? None of the medical experts could predict the huge spike in April, when the number of cases went up by 30-40 times all of a sudden. So what is the guarantee that another spike won't occur when the tournament is underway in October? And we need to remember that the World Cup involves 16 teams. The BCCI had difficulty in managing a tournament which involved just 8 teams and now they want to host the world cup?
1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Dogecoin overpriced? on: May 04, 2021, 06:19:43 PM
LOL.... now Dogecoin is the 4th largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization. Only Bitcoin, Binance Coin and Ethereum are ahead of it. If the trend continues, then it may be able to overtake BNB in the next few months (if not weeks). Can you imagine this? A shitcoin, which was created to mock the idea of cryptocurrency is now more valuable than Tether, Cardano and Polkadot. And ever since the start of this year, Doge has gone up by around 120 times. Let's digest this. 12,000% increase in 4 months.
1449  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: May 04, 2021, 06:07:59 PM
I agree - the UN and other international structures are not able to solve the global problem of providing vaccines to all or the majority of the population today. But there are also nuances here. For example, commercial companies are not required to play "messiah" and "saviors" and do charity work. Therefore, we must proceed from this position and look for an alternative way. For example, I suppose that it would be possible to raise a fund that would pay for the development of an alternative vaccine that would become an "open project" that all pharmaceutical companies could eventually produce and sell at a minimal price all over the world. India itself has a huge potential for the production of pharmaceuticals, and could become one of the centers of mass production of a "common" vaccine, or for the whole world or a regional leader.

I agree with the suggestion and India is one of the world's leading manufacturer of different types of vaccines. There are two manufacturers in India currently who are producing vaccines against CoVID 19 (Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech). But here the problem is that some of their key raw products need to be sourced from the United States. And for almost two months, the United States had imposed an embargo on the export of these raw materials (lifted only a few days ago), although the American government had enough doses of vaccine to inoculate every single person in that country. Now sourcing these materials from a different country may take a few months and both the SII and Bharat Biotech struggled during this period.

I completely agree that the pharmaceutical companies need to benefit from their own invention. And the third world nations can't just ask medicines for free from these corporations. But somewhere we need a middle path.
1450  Economy / Economics / Re: US economy is booming, but people are not seeing it. on: May 04, 2021, 05:52:00 PM
Let's not forget the fact that Joe Biden has decided to spend an additional $6 trillion on his "American Families Plan". And despite this huge spending, I am unable to notice any upswing in the economy. And worse, once the crazy plan to make capital gains tax on par with the income tax is implemented, we can expect a crash in the stock markets and unemployment further increasing. The US federal debt currently stand at $28.25 trillion, and may further increase to $40 trillion by the end of Biden's term in 2024.
1451  Economy / Economics / Re: April 2021 set a new record India. How much effect in Indian economy? on: May 04, 2021, 04:51:38 PM
India has one of the worst economic models in the world. Only around 2% of the population pays income tax and these people are treated like untouchables in India. The so called "salaried class" is not regarded as a powerful voting block, and therefore they have to deal with ever increasing taxes with every passing year. The increase in GST collection shows that the economy is in good shape despite the pandemic. People are working from home, and therefore able to save more money. But the model will not remain sustainable for long, if the government fails in expanding the tax-payer base.

To be a little bit more clear about what seemed to be happening in these negotiations:

Pfizer demanded that Pfizer could not get sued for negligence (including criminal negligence I believe) by the nation's court system.  Some nations had problematic legislative or constitutional text.  They were induced to rapidly modify their laws prior to inking a deal.  The collateral (military bases, bank reserves, etc) was to guarantee that Pfizer would not be found negligent in the nation's court systems and the collateral would be forfeited should that happen at some point in the future.

What we know of these deals is because negotiations fell through in Argentina and someone blabbed or leaked some of the details which were supposed to be kept secret.  It would seem probable that all countries who did ink an agreement with Pfizer did agree to those terms or something like them.

Thanks for the clarification about the demands put forward by Pfizer. For me this is just pure exploitation. Pfizer has a life saving medicine and now they are blackmailing the poor countries in return for the vaccine doses. Why should Pfizer be immune from lawsuits, if they commit criminal negligence? Personally I don't have anything against Pfizer. I am very thankful to them, for inventing the blue pill. But I have a feeling that this is not the time for them to fatten their pockets.
1453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 04, 2021, 04:13:59 PM
I shocked when I saw that IPL has been stopped since the virus entered into more teams and in my opinion, it will take at least 2 to 3 months to resume the matches again if they want to continue the matches in India, or else they should move the tournament to UAE or another country which is also less likely to happen.

BCCI and Franchises will take care of the players because they got enough money to keep everyone in the hotels for years so no need to worry about them.

BCCI made the mistake of conducting the matches in India, when the pandemic was at its peak. Now they should properly compensate the players, especially those from the foreign nations. The BCCI bosses (especially Ganguly and Shah) are responsible for this situation, as they never considered any factor other than making money. Now at least they should move the T20 World Cup to the UAE. India is not in a condition to host any major tournament under current conditions.
1454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 04, 2021, 02:05:41 PM
Test series? Why would you want one, it takes 2-3 weeks for 2 match test series. You can imagine what would happen if 3 nations playing test cricket with each others back to back. For limited overs cricket we already have Asia cup, which getting delayed but its temporary.

It makes no sense to conduct a trilateral test series. Even if the teams play against each other only once, the entire series is going to take one and half months. On top of that, the revenue generation is going to me much lower when compared to T20 or ODI series. IMO, test series should be purely a bilateral affair and we already have the WTC to rank the teams in this format. Extended global tournaments are just not feasible with the longer format.
1455  Economy / Economics / Re: Could Bitcoin Smash Socialism in Venezuela? on: May 04, 2021, 12:53:21 PM
Corrupt cops are always trying to screw us anyways, in anyway you can imagine.
There is also an initiative going on to created bank accounts in USD so people can pay easily with it when buying their stuff, because due to de lack of coins and 1$ and 5$ bills, it can be difficult to spend exactly what you want. I have been in the sitution I needed to spend 10$ with a 20$ but I could not.
However, many people people do not trust banks here anymare, and will likely do not put their few USD with them, because of how they have limited the access to your savings in the past, nowadays, for example, in order to withdraw 5 million Bolivares in cash (about 2-5$ ) one needs to get up at 7 am and spend 2-4 hours in a line outside the bank, together with 500 hundred people. I did this last week.

So people literally stuff their few dollars under the matress.

OK.. so even if people are permitted to hold USD in their bank accounts, you are saying that few people would do that, since the banks are not trusted by the people. I can't blame the ordinary citizens, because we have seen bank accounts being used for wealth confiscation before (check what happened in Cyprus). But then holding all the USD bills under the mattress can be extremely risky. And since these are banknotes and not coins, you need to store them with care. Banknotes can get spoilt easily.
1456  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Which Covid 19 Vaccine is is the best ? on: May 04, 2021, 11:38:20 AM
Israel has shot Pfizer to all citizens and statistics evidences the result is meeting all expectations. I would put this vaccine on the first place. The shit stuff like Sputnik that comes from Russia  I wouldn’t even consider because there’s no true telling what they put in it. A good read on how pfizer-BioNTech vaccine works.

If your Pfizer vaccine was available to everyone, then there was no need for us to take Sputnik V, right? The problem is that Pfizer has restricted their sales to rich countries, where they can sell their vaccine for $75 per individual. When Brazil and Argentina asked them for the supplies, Pfizer wanted the army bases and gold reserves of these countries as collateral in returns for the medicines. On the other hand, Russia provided a lot of poor nations with the Sputnik V vaccine. And the efficacy as per The Lancet is 92%, compared to 95% for the Pfizer vaccine.
1457  Other / Politics & Society / Re: India covid19 crisis on: May 04, 2021, 11:23:02 AM
I am just getting tired of the propaganda here. I clicked the link and it says that the video shows a lady being forcibly vaccinated against her will. I checked with my friends in India and they are saying that the incident involved a CoVID positive person, who refused home isolation and was therefore forcibly detained by the health workers. 3,000-4,000 people are dying in India every day, and you want these infectious people to roam around further spreading the virus? A massive propaganda campaign is going on in the Twitter and other social media platforms. These criminals are playing with people's lives and should be prosecuted.
Wow.  Harsh!  Remember your words and sentiments as the 'vaccination' program, and the understandings of it, evolve.  Don't whine and bitch if you end up on the wrong side of this thing and are lumped in with various other perps.  I don't doubt that you mean well, but then the exacts same has been true of others throughout history who ended being judged (and punish) harshly for what they had once considered their virtues.  Just remember how you insisted on prosecution for free speech and earnest analysis.

Why don't you turn up info about $2500 'social media influences' being paid to propagandize _against_ vaccines instead of for them?  Of find where the POTUS is giving BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars to propagandize against them?  You cannot because 'your side' is flush with funds.  The so-called 'anti-vax' side other side gets nothing but a ton of hassles, risks, career lose, etc.

By now most people who understand the subject understand what it takes to be a 'CoVID positive person' with cycle thresholds set up into the 40's.  Even Dr. Fausti who understood it and talked about it many months ago (to cover his ass obviously.)  I highly doubt that there is a ton of food pouring in to help the lady feed herself and her kids while she is locked in a room for a month in India.  She'd probably be lucky if anyone even brought her water.  But she should just go ahead and starve to death if a phony test comes back positive I suppose.

I was talking about the social media propaganda, and not about your post. A few days back I heard one Whatsapp message from India (in Hindi language), which urged people to stay inside their homes even if they have CoVID 19. The message claimed that healthy people are getting admitted to hospitals and they are coming out as dead bodies. Further, the message claimed that people are being killed in the hospitals so that their organs can be stolen. I was saying that people who indulge in these sort of propaganda should be prosecuted.

And regarding vaccination, I am in for vaccinating as many people as possible. But I don't believe that anyone needs to be vaccinated against his/her will.

Not sure how the overseas players will be able to leave India as England, Australia and New Zealand has suspended flights from India and they will face prosecution if they fly from India and Australia went one step further saying they will face 5 year jail sentence if they breach those. So it is a tricky situation for everyone involved.

I guess they will need to wait untill the restriction has been removed. BCCI made it tricky, when they knew that the situation in India and especially in Maharashtra is so bad they should have stopped IPL for the time being and should have rescheduled it later. Strict action should be taken against those responsible.

First of all they made the mistake by staging the matches in two of the worst affected cities - Mumbai and Delhi. And the breach in bio-bubble occurred in one of these cities. If they had scheduled the tournament in the UAE, then they would have been able to complete it without much issues. They ignored the warning from a lot of medical experts and were adamant about their decision to stage the matches in India. Everyone is suffering as a result now.
1459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 04, 2021, 10:12:16 AM
Blaming the toss is useless excuse as no one controls the toss outcome, its 50-50 for both the teams and no one is going to get rid of toss benefit in home condition anytime soon, may be never. Everyone knew that batting is going to be tough in last 2 days so Bangladeshi batters needed to bat well during their 1st inning, unfortunately for them everyone failed.

Toss had hardly any impact on the outcome of the game. The pace bowlers received no support from the pitch and there wasn't much bounce or seam movement. The spinners also failed to get any sort of assistance from the pitch. Ideally the match would have ended in a draw, but the batting collapse from Bangladesh in the fourth innings gave the advantage to Sri Lanka and they were eventually able to win the match. The Bangladeshi batsmen looked like they were in a hurry to get back home.
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 04, 2021, 07:54:13 AM
IPL is stopped on account of increasing corona spread among the players and staffs. This is a temporary for a week's time, based on the situation will be the further announcement on the league. Till date 29 matches have got over.

From what I heard, the tournament has been suspended for an indefinite period.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl-2021-suspended-as-covid-count-increases-1262269

There is a BCCI meeting next week, and a decision on how to schedule the remaining matches will be taken during that meeting. But given the CoVID 19 situation in India, I am not hopeful of a resumption anytime during the next 2 months. And in case the tournament resumes within the next 2-3 months, I am not sure whether all of the overseas players will remain with the franchises.
