2441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoin, You'll Thank Me Later - Mexican Billionaire Says on: February 26, 2022, 04:10:59 PM
Not a bad recommendation. Owning some bitcoins is good for every portfolio. Nobody knows how high bitcoins are going to rise, so buying some coins at current levels is cheap compared to the ATH. In my opinion getting bitcoins below 40,000 USD is a great entry level. The sudden invasion of Ukraine by Russia, send crypto prices down. But now the world realises that it is not start of WW3. No other country will join the war against Russia, it's a conflict only between these two nations.
That's why, if you don't own crypto coins at all, better to atleast buy some now before the prices will recover again. Don't expect to become a billionaire however from 1 BTC.
2442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You Must be Over 18 years on: February 26, 2022, 03:52:45 PM
I read every Internet gambling had requirements that must be over 18 years. if a child is under that age, how did the website owner know that child was enough to age?. Because I was explored every Internet gambling here that almost didn't require uploading an ID card. A child could be lying by clicking correct sign under the register box.

Online casinos usually require the minimum age of 18 years, what is the same in most countries to enter physical casinos. When entering a physical casino you have to show your ID. For online casinos such verifications come at the withdrawal process. A minor could potential start gambling at an online casino, but his winnings would be frozen if he tries to withdraw them. Gambling alone as a minor is dangerous and can lead to gambling addiction down the round. There should be some form of oversight from the parents for what the kids are doing online. And if you are 17 and can't wait for your 18th birthday, maybe just ask your dad to gamble together a bit. He could even teach you something.

Any leans for the IEM playoffs scheduled tomorrow?

I'm liking the overs on both series as these teams looked a bit shaky but at the same time, I don't want to miss out on

The IEM playoff games this weekend should be quite interesting. So far I didn't place any bets yet, but out of the two matches on Friday G2 vs Virtus Pro should be a good win G2. Their performance over the last two months was strong. I don't expect any surprises here. Faze vs Gambit is a harder pick, I probably will not bet here. As for Saturday I expect Navi to play vs G2, and Navi to win this one. Over the last 6 months Navi was the team I won my most bets with. It's always good to bet a little on them.
2444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price goes down as Russia begins Ukraine invasion on: February 24, 2022, 08:32:50 AM
Didn't Russia already invade and annex 2 big cities in Eastern Ukraine 2 days ago? I'm talking about Donetsk and Luhansk that used to be part of Ukraine.

How do you define part of Ukraine? There is a civil war going on for 8 years, since then these 2 regions were not part of Ukraine anymore but autonomous regions. I find it very sad that the two countries couldn't find a peaceful solution and it ended in war now. War is always wrong and is only going to hurt the innocent.

About an hour ago, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, confirmed that Putin was going to invade Ukraine. As soon as this hit the news portal the Bitcoin price went down 8%

Unfortunately most investors don't look at bitcoins other crypto currencies as safe assets yet. For the majority of investors cryptos are still assets to speculate with. Similar to stocks investors are going to sell their holdings into less risky assets. Thats why we can see cryptos, commodities and stocks dropping at the moment and see a rise in gold price. Same goes for silver platinum, it is still the safe haven for many. Also the Swiss Franc is rising again, another safe asset for many investors.
2445  Economy / Economics / Re: Who gain's from War ? on: February 24, 2022, 08:18:25 AM
I'm right here, Argument with my mate about the current invasion by Russia in Ukraine.
He just told me countries make money from war, could it be the journalist alone ? Government who please, I'm juvenile at this.

I wouldn't say that Journalist gain much from war, there is always news stories to report about. Would be interesting if during times of war people actually buy more newspapers. Most of my friends are not reading any newspapers anymore, they only rely on online news for free. In general war is bad for economy, we can already see that stocks are tanking due to the fear of war. Nobody would spend a lot of money right now, people are cautious and will delay their spending and focus only on necessary things. The companies that are profiting from war are from the defence and armament industry. Companies that build drones, guns, artillery and all the ammunition will see an uptick in sales. Overall this is only a tiny fraction of a country that actually profits from war, most people are affected negatively.
2446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: February 23, 2022, 06:00:33 PM
And I agree with you, Carlsen Magnus is a really impressive chess player, and he proves how good he was when he play vs Kasparov at the age of 13.

Yeah I remember that video from YouTube were you could see the nervous young Carlsen play Kasparow, and after the match you would hear how impressed he was with him. Magnus got a lot of support for his family, they took him out of school for a year and travelled with him through Europe. So he could play many tournaments against a lot of different players. Now with the rise of online chess and blitz chess apps, everybody can play against each other from home. The potential to train against grandmaster from the other side of the earth should help all players. Even Magnus offers now the chance to play Blitz games against him on his own website.
2447  Economy / Economics / Re: Measuring crisis effects on: February 23, 2022, 09:06:16 AM
Crises (e.g. due to the COVID-19 pandemic) damage markets. Economists look at the effects and try to figure out whether the markets recover. But it seems this is measured in nominal values. Now nearly everyone complains about inflation. In the end, there may still be less effective value even if it's said a given market has recovered from the crisis.

So, could the question whether the markets recovered be answered more accurately when measuring in a currency where the money supply is outside of control? Or would this assumption be flawed?

Interesting approach to measuring recoveries and crisis. It's been a while since my economics classes in university, but what I remember is that the currency of a nation is not a good indicator for the state of the economy. A strong currency will show also a strong economy, but the government would try and lower the strength of the economy to make their exports more attractive internationally. The lower the currency the cheaper are the exports of a country. So a cheap currency doesn't necessary mean that the economy is weak too. Even with inflation we can't accurately say that is in crisis. Only when inflation hits high double digits and is in a spiral the economy will be in crisis.
2448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] World Championship 2021: Carlsen Vs. Nepomniachtchi on: February 23, 2022, 08:34:55 AM
I just read this morning that an Indian 16 year old teenager Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa managed to beat Magnus Carlsen in a Blitz Chess tournament. He is only one of three Indians grandmasters who managed to beat Carlsen. Blitz chess and normal chess games are very different, the players don't have the time at hand to think too deep about moves ahead. It is much easier to make mistakes. In a traditional tournament Carlsen would have probably won. But still, such a big win at such a young age his a pretty big boost for his self esteem. I hope he will keep training and maybe go for a world championship match vs Carlsen at one point. Now I am wondering how this Carlsen loss will impact betting on matches in the future. It is just a matter of time until we have a new world chess champion.

2449  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Words of advice on: February 22, 2022, 04:08:00 PM
I fully agree with that, try to be as cautious as possible when it comes to doing transactions online. After the crypto rally last year the number of scammers and hackers in the crypto world increased a lot. 2-3 years ago I didn't get any emails about cryptos and that I won something, or that I should accept a transfer of coins. Now, every 3rd or 4th email is either a fake Amazon invoice, or some crypto promotion which is not real. Even on discord I get approached atleast twice a month from a bot about new crypto deals or special casino promotions. Before accepting anything online these days, I make sure to tripple check the information. Clicking on one wrong link can already download malware in the background that will steal our data.
2450  Economy / Gambling / Re: Fun Stats about Bitcoin Casinos | Infographic on: February 22, 2022, 03:55:51 PM
Very interesting summary you made here, it looks very professional. Thank you for it. By looking through it I was very surprised. Some of the statistics are new to me. Especially that only 3% online casinos identify as crypto casinos. Somehow I thought that after the crypto rally from last year that we had many more crypto casinos. I know that all the big casinos from Las Vegas also operate online, but the huge rise of crypto casinos should match that. My own perception is probably skewed towards crypto casinos through this forum. Except for playing poker on some old school software, I would say that all my online gambling is done on crypto casinos.
What is a bit alarming to me is that only 51% of crypto casinos have a valid gambling licence. That number seems a bit low too. I would have expected the pressure from gamblers to be much higher on casinos to operate with a valid licence. Especially since online gambling licences can be obtained for around 10,000 USD from some tax haven countries. When choosing a casino I will always prefer to gamble on the one that has a licence, compared to another one.
2451  Economy / Economics / Re: OMG crypto is low ! what do i do ? on: February 22, 2022, 03:47:29 PM
Sounds like a plan, but when cryptos are low so are all the other assets too. Creating and selling  NFTs should also be influenced by the current world outlook. Wouldn't it be better to hold out and wait for the hype? Same goes for selling crypto coins right now. In my opinion instead of selling at such low prices, better to just sit it out. There will be better times again. In the end everything is a gamble right now if there will be a big war in Ukraine or not. No one knows the chances, but there could be another major conflict that pulls down the world economy. So selling today would be the plan only if we can buy back the coins cheaper at a later time. It could however be that Russia and Ukraine will de escalate things and find a compromise. Optimists will hold and pessimists will sell, only to be hurt by inflation.
2452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying for your taxi with Bitcoins !! on: February 22, 2022, 03:40:47 PM
Great news from Uber. In almost every country there are Uber services and the setup of the App where everything is paid online is awesome. Accepting bitcoins and maybe even other crypto coins in future is a big step. Running a small mobile wallet with a hundred USD on it is perfect to use it for taxi fares in the future. When on vacation I tend to use Uber regularly, at home I prefer public transportation, because its cheaper. One problem for me would be the low bitcoin price right now. With looming war over Ukraine it seems that Bitcoin is going to stay low for the near future. And at current levels I don't want to sell or use my bitcoins for purchases. In case the price would go above 50,000 USD again I would consider spending some coins.
2453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscars to include Fan-Favorite Film via Twitter on: February 22, 2022, 03:31:05 PM

I was thinking of the gambling implication of this. What if somebody places a huge bet, say, a million or two, on a particular film and then activates all kinds of bots and thousands of fake Twitter accounts that could spam the platform of votes 20 times a day every single day from the beginning of voting until the end? In other words, is this open for manipulation?

As soon as I read the title of the thread I was thinking the exact same thing. Twitter is not really known for being a secure platform where no manipulation can take place. They will limit the voting to one vote per account, but this is not going to prevent misuse. It's very easy to create a new Twitter accounts. Even adding a phone number is no real barrier for manipulation. With many new sim cards being sold very cheaply, it would be no problem to create a bunch of new accounts to vote for the movie. Same goes IP restrictions, with VPNs many votes could be made from one PC. The only problem if the Oscars remove a certain movie were they feel too many votes are generated by bots.
2454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun alone? how true? on: February 22, 2022, 10:53:42 AM
Have you heard that some people gamble for fun and not necessarily to make money?

I find it hard to believe completely because who doesn't like to make some more money even if it is not needed.

Of course making money is nice. Who would say no to some free money? The problem is that the casino games are not designed to make us money, they are designed to make money for the casino itself. All the games have a negative expected value for the gambler. This doesn't mean that everybody is going to lose, it's just more likely to lose than to win money. That's why saying we only gamble to make money is not the best mindset. If we don't enjoy gambling itself I would probably advice to not start gambling to make money. It helps to have passion for playing games of chance and bet money with it. Playing a game with the sole purpose of making money it's best to look into Poker. In poker a good strategy can make money on a regular basis. With other casino games we need to be lucky to get a big payout.
2455  Economy / Economics / Re: Canada to freeze Freedom Convoy Protestors bank accounts... on: February 21, 2022, 02:32:40 PM
The situation in Canada right now is alarming. How can the government use all these drastic measures against protesters? Freezing Bank accounts or retirement funds seems more like extortion than living in a free country. It is one thing to agree or disagree with the truckers, going as hard against them as Trudeau is doing is wrong. Also Trudeau seems to change his mind about truckers quite fast. Last year he was praising them as the backbone of the economy during the covid crisis. It was the truckers that made sure all the supermarkets were stocked and supply chain didn't collapse. I hope they can find some compromise and don't make it worse. Of course the government is in the stronger position and can apply all types of pressure. But us this really necessary? I don't think so.
2456  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1win on Bitcointalk! on: February 21, 2022, 12:57:18 PM
Hello. I am gambling on Sports and Casino on your site. I requested withdraw on 8th February via Bitcoin. Withdraw is still pending. I also contacted your support via email, after 2 weeks I am still waiting for an answer.

Can you please help me and explain me (and other users) why you do not proceed my withdraw?

Two weeks is a really long time to withdraw money from a casino, especially if you don't get any feedback from customer support. The website looks good, I wanted to try out this casinos myself, but having trouble with withdrawls is a red flag. Any new casinos is welcome here and it's nice that they take their time to engage with us gamblers on the forum, as long as everything is legit. Please keep us posted on your issue, it can help others to have a similar problem. As a new casino there can always be some technical difficulities, but not informing the gamblers about the status of the withdrawls is not okay. Hope everything will be fine and you get your money soon.
2457  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can i find the top company analysis on crypto on: February 21, 2022, 12:03:12 PM
i can see in some YouTube videos they will explainlike " as per xyz analysis bitcoin will be 200000$ by end of 2022" like that but   Where can i find the top company analysis on crypto what analysis they did ? what data they have ? based on what kind of data they are predicting

YouTube content creator usually are looking to get the most views on their videos. The higher their views, the more money they can get from advertising and promotions. I would be very critical when a unknown crypto coin is being promoted. It might be case that the YouTube got hired directly to promote it. Looking for independent high quality research on cryptos can be hard. If you are willing to pay money for it there some opportunities, but for free it's limited. One chance could also be to check with your bank. If you have a depot at UBS, Deutsche or one of the big American banks, you could ask them for some research. Many of the big banks have their own crypto desk by now and they send around client notes.
2458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risk in Crypto Assets Portfolio on: February 20, 2022, 09:04:44 AM
Greed is an emotion and it can be controlled. There are subjects who are prone to greed more than others, just like some of have a bad temper and get angry at little things, but such people need to train their minds to stay in control and not let greed take over, otherwise they need to stop trading for a while.

To be honest, such people dont last long either. They will get washed away while trying to make more and more and will be a small speck of dust in the trading timeline. Those who survive this game are the ones who are diligent and have controlled their emotions to not be greedy but be frugal.

The gambling mindset should be changed for this to happen. But there will always be some newbie willing to take the risk and become food for the whales.

I agree with you, the market tends to wash out traders that don't have the right mindset. Being controlled by emotions makes usually bad investment decisions. We can't listen to our stomach when to buy and when to sell. Greed is one of the worst emotions a trader can have, because it lets us focus mostly on returns and how to maximise them. But once we focus only on returns we tend to forget about the risks we are taking to achieve that returns. The chances of blowing becomes a big issue for too greedy people, similar to playing in casino and never stopping after a big win, until all the money is gone again. It's much easier to lose money than to earn it, that is why a good investment portfolio should focus more on the risk than on making the maximum possible returns.

Dota 2: Has anyone heard and seen the news about Fata getting kicked by his own team/org? He's the one that formed his squad and they also broke the contract tradition for signing players for a long time.

I thought that it's going to take this team's roster forever but the one who has formed it was the one that got kicked: Fata kicked from Tundra

Rumors are saying that Fly might replace him.

Sad to see Fata getting kicked out from Tundra. So far I didn't hear any rumors what happened behind the scene. Losing against OG in the regional finals is not world ending. And their performance over the last 6 month was alright, they earned some decent price money in tourneys. To me it seems a bit like an overreaction to kick Fata now. I really liked their team, especially with Aui_2000 as coach. Fly is also a strong support player, but who knows if we can keep the team together like Fata. Hope Fata will find a new great team in no time.
2460  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Journey of a successful trader on: February 19, 2022, 01:39:56 PM
Very good summary of how you became successful in trading. I like the emphasis you put on testing your strategies before investing any real money. It's important to make sure that a strategy really works and we didn't only be lucky a few times. Both live testing and testing against historical data helps to show how profitable a strategy really is.  It's usually traders who lose money that write about their bad experiences. We need more stories like yours, traders who started small and invested a lot of time and effort into their trading system. Gaining experience along the way to become a professional trader one day. For me personally it's still a long way to become a professional and successful trader. I had my success trades in the past, but these were geverally due to the overall market rallying.
