1461  Economy / Economics / Re: "Prepare for defation in 2023" on: January 09, 2023, 09:48:44 AM
I'm not an economist, but if deflation happens in 2023 that causes further recession, what would the Federal Reserve do? MAXIMUM ORDERS OF BRRR-MONEY PRINTING.

Prepare to experience a big surge for Bitcoin like it was 2015 - 2017 Cool

They can't print more money as this would increase inflation even further. The only real solution for the FED at the moment is to keep increasing interest rates and try to contain the inflation. Only once the inflation is brought down they can focus on economics growth again. A recession could happen in 2023 but doesn't seem so likely, because when all the prices are rising then so are wages and whole economic output is going to be inflated. Number will be higher but in real terms, the value is not going up. We will probably see a rise in Bitcoin prices again in 2023 but the rise is going to be moderate first in my opinion. People are still scared to invest large amounts of money. At least in my country most investors still hold large sums of cash in their portfolio, even though it's the worst type of asset to hold during high inflation periods. It will probably take until 2024 and the next halving to prices really rally again.
1462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: January 07, 2023, 10:17:36 AM
When I was younger I never really gambled alone it was always a group acitivity with friends to have fun and a good night out. It was all about enjoying the casino athmosphere I saw a lot in movies like Ocean Elven or 21. The motivation back then wasn't really about money or becoming rich quickly. That changed later in university several years ago was when I first started out with sports betting. Before that I only used to enjoy gambling in a casino and play poker with friends for fun. I didn't follow many sports when I was younger and had no real advantage to place some bets. The interest in sports betting game from a friend who was making a lot of money betting on our regional football league. The whole motivation for me to place money on games was to make money. A few friends pooled all our money and we gave it to our friend for betting the whole season. So my first few years of sports betting I only followed other people's advice and never placed my own bets. Only in the last 3 years I got more in esports betting and place my own bets. Today I would say that am more of a lone wolf gambler that still plays for fun most of the time, while trying to make some profit with sports betting on the side.
1463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: January 07, 2023, 08:50:41 AM
PSG LGD looks really strong in the Chinese division this year, I will keep betting on them for the next few matches. The match against Team Aster.Aries tomorrow should be an easy win for them, same as the match against EHOME next week. My second favourite team in China is Team Aster, they should also be winning their next two matches against Xtreme Gaming and Team Aster.Aries. Not going for any comi bets though, will stick to my single bets and make small steady returns to build up my bankroll for 2023. Also on Monday the DPC EU tour is starting. I am a bit more familiar with the European teams and probably will switch for my next big bets to the European games. Both Team Liquid and Team Secret are two really strong teams that could go far in the tournament and they are directly meeting on Monday. The match could go either way even though Team Liquid seems to be the favourite, I am going with Secret on this one. OG is facing Tundra Esports which should be an easy win for Tundra, they have a great team and OG is not doing that well anymore recently.

1465  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding could be better on: January 07, 2023, 08:17:10 AM
My advice to traders that are losing is to still continue to trade, but using just 20% while 80% should go into holding. What do you people think about this? Out of 100% fund, what percentage can you advice a trader to use?

That is a good advice in my opinion, when it comes to building up a crypto portfolio it makes a lot of sense to split our funds into different categories. HODL investing has been one of most profitable strategies when it comes to Bitcoins, that is why I would always recommend any new trader to leave at least some of his money in a long term account and don't trade it short term. It's like with your bank account, you leave some money in the savings account while you invest other parts into stocks and bonds. A 80/20 split or even 90/10 would be a good approach for any beginner. Like this you have at least some money to trade with and get experience. I still remember my first few trades I did in the stock market and how much money I used for bad trades. I didn't really lose a lot of money, but I had to hold some of my positions for more than a year for them to turn a profit. The more experience you have the higher the percentage of the money we use for active trading should be.
1466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - what price would you sell? on: January 07, 2023, 07:50:44 AM
I am thinking of just accumulating till 2029/2030 which should be the next bull run after 2025.

Hopefully by this point I will have close to 1 full Bitcoin and the price will be at least $250k which would then be worth selling to me.

That is a pretty good strategy and I have very similar thoughts like you. Right now is the time to buy cryptos and not to sell. Making bitcoin purchases around the 16,000 USD level is a good deal and the coins should be held as long as possible. HODL investing has been one of the most successful strategies for people who invested early into bitcoins, and the good thing about is it that you don't need to spend a lot of time researching markets and making new trades. Like you my goal is owning 1 BTC, until then I mostly focus on buying a few Satoshi every month. Once I reach 1 BTC my next goal is to start building up more alt coins.
1467  Economy / Economics / Re: If your passive income beats inflation rate, deposit might be a better choice. on: January 07, 2023, 07:30:30 AM
I am trying to implement this deposit thing in real situation and find a possibility to benefit from.

A passive income of 1000 USD per month sounds nice, but how many of us actually have that? Among my friends the most of us are not getting a house from our parents we can rent out. My parents for example only live in an apartment and my dad is already quite sick that he needs daily care, which is already expensive. The healthcare system only pays so much and its likely that they will have to get a mortgage on their home later. I don't even want to think of inheritance taxes because real estate prices have been rising a lot, we might not be able to keep their apartment. So in my case the passive income is not really an option and the inflation is still horrible. For 2023 I expect we will have around 7-10% inflation, while my bank account still only pays 0.3% interest. Cash deposits are the worst form of investment in my opinion right now and I prefer to buy cryptos.
1468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is The Gambling Industry Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market on: January 07, 2023, 07:24:51 AM
1. No, crypto casino industry wouldn't get any effect from FTX bankruptcy.
2. No, different casino has different ownership, although someone can create more than 1 casino, but a scam casino wouldn't last long, that's why I don't want to play in new casino.
3. No, casino isn't a wallet and there's a chance the casino might bankrupt or they have updated the new terms that I can't accept it.
4. The casino is scam since there's no transparency.

I would say that there was a negative effect from the FTX bankruptcy, the bitcoin price dropped from 22-23,000 USD back down to 16,000 USD. But markets have calmed down already again and prices are recovering. It's probably more that there are no long term negative effects from the bankruptcy. It definitely makes no sense to keep larger amounts of money at casinos for a long time. Most people here are afraid of a possible bankruptcy of the casino that would result in a loss of our assets. In my opinion the psychological aspect of having a large balance available to gamble at any time is a bigger threat that a bankruptcy. What if we have a bad evening where we drank some alcohol and lose all our money because we kept trying to recover our previous losses? I try to have fixed limits for each week to gamble with and control my budget as much as possible. But if I had too much money at the casino it would be much harder to control myself. That is why I always make withdrawals when making a larger profit. Like this I am not getting tempted to gamble abovey budget.
1469  Economy / Economics / Re: Will central banks ultimately fail in their goal of lowering down inflation? on: January 07, 2023, 07:19:52 AM
Do you think such financial entities will fail in their goal of lowering down inflation? If not, why? Is there still hope for a global economic recovery when the war and the pandemic are at play? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley

The FED had been doing a good job in my opinion, they managed to increase interest rates much faster than other central banks. It remains to be seen in 2023 how this going to continue, but I think that the FED will keep reacting faster to changes in inflation. Here in Europe the ECB is reacting much slower and seems to be more concerned about the financing rates of governments. Increasing interest rates means that every time government debt is being rolled over the interest rates will increase a lot. Printing new money to save countries with too much debt is not an option anymore. Overall I do think the central banks can bring down inflation with the tools they have. The question is which is going to be their target level for inflation.
1470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet is chess matches? on: January 06, 2023, 03:45:02 PM
Chess tournaments as well as checkers may be a good sports field for the betting industry. I know I would bet in a chess match as I already did that against a friend. We have gathered a group pf players in my neighbourhood. Thrn we started with a betting game where we could bet on the winner ot we could bet on first player going for a check. Ithe experiment worked out fine. So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?

Chess became very popular during the pandemic as many people were looking for games to play online from home during the lockdowns. Especially speed and blitz chess saw a real boost and can be played now at any time online against thousands of other people. There are also a lot of smaller tournaments happening now more regularly. Just last month we had the Speed Chess Championship Main Event 2022 where Hikaru Nakamura managed to beat Magnus Carlsen in the finals. I am pretty sure there are already quite a lot of opportunities to bet money on the games. I never really bet money on chess matches, I only follow the matches for entertainment. But I am sure that I saw all the big bookmakers offering quotes for the Speed Chess Championship finals. As for checkers I never really played the game myself and didn't follow any news about it. Are there even any big tournaments happening? If there is no media coverage of it and not many players attending than I don't see a market for betting on it.
1471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 08:41:40 AM
What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?

Getting free drinks in the casino has been their business model for a long time. Already in the 1970-80s casinos would give their customers free drinks and even full cigarette packs to have a good time. Back in the day everybody was smoking in doors and the air must have been really bad. Hard to imagine today how the environment was back then, also people where drinking much more than they are today. Getting drunk and gambling is a common combination in Las Vegas, I still remember my first time visiting the big casino and the atmosphere of all the drunk people gambling. If this only happens once a year during a vacation I think it's fine and people should be enjoying themselves, just make sure you have fixed limits to gamble with and better to rely on cash for the time you are there and leave the bank cards at home. The problem is of course if the occasional visit becomes to regular behaviour. Personally I rarely drink when gambling, one or two beers is fine but nothing stronger. Another factor that could lead to addictive gambling behaviour is to always think about gambling, even when we are not even playing or on our way to visit a casino. Spending too much time thinking about new strategies and possible winnings we could make, is not a good idea. Our brain will become used to these thoughts and this will lead to much higher gambling activity than is good for us. In my opinion we should always have fixed rules and boundaries when it comes to gambling so we don't spend too much time on it.
1472  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 04, 2023, 08:28:13 AM
I'm not sure if everything has gone downhill in the past few years or if I'm overexaggerating and making it sound worse than it really is. Perhaps my sitting all alone in my bed on New Year's Eve isn't helping.

Anyway, happy new year to everyone and good luck on your bitcoin endeavors!

Happy new year to you too buddy, let's hope together that 2023 is not going to be as terrible as the last year. Starting the new year alone can bring a lot of memories to mind that usually would be blocked by all the alcohol people drink on New Years. I was over Christmas alone at home with covid and also thought back how terrible the last few years were in my country. Especially the double digit inflation rates we are facing now is worrying me. Food prices have been rising quite a while now, but especially energy prices made a big jump in 2022. In my country it doesn't look we will ever go back to normal energy prices again. The whole process of changing to more renewable energy sources seems to be rushed and the country is not ready for it, then on top of that closing down all the nuclear energy sources is going to make things much worse. I am hoping 2023 is not going to be as bad as expected.
1473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 03, 2023, 03:29:21 PM

I am planning to put 3-6 BTC on Novak Djokovic to win the 2023 Australian Open.

I just need to find a trustworthy sportsbook who will not only accept the bet but pay me too.

In general I would say that I spend much more time and money at casinos than betting on sports. Only in the last few months I was more active with sports betting due to the World Cup and the last CSGO major. Whenever there are big sport tournaments I get hyped and want to bet on them. And now with no big tournament around the corner I will stick to casino games. Placing 6 BTC on a single bet is a lot of money for me at least. You must have a big bankroll for such kind of bets and coukd hopefully afford if the bet turns bad. Picking the right bookmaker is important for these kind of bets. How about you split up your bet and place 1 BTC each at 4-5 different websites? There are many trusted websites promoting their business here on the forum. I would go with companies that have been around for several month already.
1474  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does money bring you security ? on: January 03, 2023, 03:11:12 PM
Well, it is a fact that money buys a lot of things that we both need and want. Nobody can deny material possessions give us comfort and joy in most times. However, it is really a question whether money brings you a feeling of security. In my experience, a lot of rich people are living in anxiety and fear. Before they got rich, all efforts and endeavours were taken most of their life and time but after they reached where they are now, insecurity and anxiety take control of their life. Have you ever thought about this ? Please share your thoughts.

I think it depends a lot on how rich you are and how much you identify with it. If you ever manage to get so rich that you never need to work another day in your life, then this money brings a lot of security with it. Let's say you win 50 million in the lottery, there is no more need to make any risky investments with it. Just protect the wealth you already have and enjoy it. The problem comes when you are rich, but not rich enough to live off your money. This means you still want more money and are afraid to lose the one you already have. In such a case its a false sense of security we get from our wealth.
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE RIGHT TIME TO MOVE IN on: January 03, 2023, 07:56:48 AM
Another Bitcoin halving is expected to come in 2024. As it has been in the last two Bitcoin halving, the bull run follows. As we anticipate another Bitcoin halving, when is the right to buy in and stock up Bitcoin in order not to be left behind in the next bull market?

In my opinion it's a good time to be buying Bitcoins right now, the price is between 16-17,000 USD for one BTC which is very cheap compared to the price over the last 2 years. For the last 4 weeks the bitcoins price isn't changing much, we are in a sideways trend that is going to end eventually. The next halving event could be a good catalyst for prices to rise again. Nobody really knows what the real price for one bitcoins should be, but 16,000 USD seems way too low. Buying now some coins seems like a good deal, but we also don't know if prices are going to fall lower in the next few months. That is why I would recommend you split out your money and instead of buying all the coins today you make 3-4 smaller purchases each month this winter and spring. Like that you increase your chances to take advantage of any new price drop coming.
1476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 02, 2023, 12:19:02 PM
Do you play national lottery games (Powerball, EuroMillions, Lotto etc)?

Yes I play the national lottery from time to time. Winning the lottery is such a rare event that I am not really believing in it, but whenever there is new very high jackpot I start dreaming again. Playing every week lottery is too expensive and will not lead to big wins, in my opinion its best to only play with high jackpots as you get the most money if you ever would win. The main motivation for me playing lottery is not winning the jackpot but rather the fear of missing out of a win. All my friends play the lottery and we usually tip together whenever the jackpot is full. It's kind of peer pressure to join them, because the worst thing would be that all my friends win the lottery and become millionaire and don't get anything of it.
1477  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to raise funding for trading? on: January 02, 2023, 11:52:24 AM
I know nothing about  fundraising so please guide me through this process for my better future.

It depends a bit on the amount of money you are looking for. As a successful trader it should be easy for you to convince potential investor to give you some money. I would recommend you to make a summary of all your successful trades over the last few years. Best would be to make PowerPoint presentation where you can show how well your trading capital performed. Make sure to add some form of benchmark, maybe some stock index and the bitcoin price. You could show like that that you did much better than a vanilla investment. In case you want to start slower and don't take in foreign money, you could ask your friends and family that are looking for better returns. Right now with the high inflation and still very low interest rates on bank accounts it makes a lot of sense to invest in cryptos. Just be careful that you don't make too big promises as it could lead to unhappy investors.
1478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Types Newbies Should know About on: January 02, 2023, 09:36:59 AM
  • In-play bet: Some bookmakers call it live betting, yet the concept is the same – bettors have an opportunity to make wagers while a game is active. In live betting the odds change during the match.

This is a great list of betting types for beginners and should be a must read for anybody going into sports betting. Making sure that we understand the type of bets we are taking is important as it could lead to a big loss if we pick the wrong bet. Sports betting can be a bit confusing at first, especially when we are used to only gamble in casinos. Reading some articles before getting into it is very helpful. Something I would like to add to the in play bets is that this can be a great tool to try and turn a bigger loss into a smaller loss or even a profit. Most of my bets I place several days in advance to try and get the best quotes. During the match itself many things can go wrong and our team could be losing. The most unlucky foul could change a game completely and ruin our bet. That's why I try to watch the games I bet on live as much as possible. And when my bet is lost or has no real chance of winning, I can place a live in play bet to recover some of my losses from the initial bet.
1479  Economy / Economics / Re: The world continues dumping US dollar (Gold, New World Order, World War III) on: January 02, 2023, 09:25:18 AM

With that said, 2023 outlook is already bad economically speaking.
How much of the points I raised do you agree with and how do you see 2023 specially when dollar dumping continues?

I am really surprised that gold has been performing so well in the last 2 months, because the rest of 2022 it was not moving at all. Still remembering my grandparents telling me that gold is the best investment when the world is in trouble, but when the Russia Ukraine war started and we reached double digit inflation rates nothing happened to gold. Maybe the correction we are seeing right now was overdue. Gold seems a good trading material for Russia as the have been isolated on international markets for months now. China could come in a similar situation if they increase the aggression towards Taiwan. Maybe we going to see gold become the number currency for international trade again if the Dollar dumping continues. This could be also good for crypto currencies as they are an alternative to gold for protecting our money.
1480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: January 02, 2023, 07:53:02 AM
Personally, I prefer higher odds to win, but smaller winnings, than low odds but big winnings. In my opinion the lottery game has too negligible a chance of being involved.

A few years ago I stopped buying lottery tickets, although I used to buy them from time to time. There were times when I won, but it was ridiculous money, which barely paid back the tickets I bought.

If we talk about the terms offered by OP, I would not risk more than $100.

Lottery is probably the most famous type of gambling that you will find in any country around the world with millions of people playing each week. My grandfather played lottery regularly for more than 40 years and never had any big win, he only lost money with it. That is probably why I am so against lotteries in the first place and try to avoid them as much as possible. Only when there is a big jackpot I am playing, and then is not really because of having a real chance of winning, it's rather the fear of being left out. All my friends play together lottery for the big jackpots and my fear is that if I ever wouldn't join them that they win the jackpot and all become millionaires and I get nothing. There is always the stories from some small towns playing together and a few people not joining them and they have to live in a street where they are the only non millionaire. Playing games that have much higher chance of winning with only a small payout are more appealing to me. It's more satisfying to play games where we can win on a regular basis than chasing a jackpot that we might never win. And if I ever come across a game that has a positive expected value for the gambler I will play as many rounds as possible. If only one round is allowed I would bet as much money as I can afford to lose without feeling bad about it.
