I'm getting tingly. Little time to go now Smiley

Will be hitting this hard from the start.

Didn't you just say that you didn't trust the precompiled binaries and wouldn't touch them?

Yep but the reward is too great not to Smiley
2503  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: WHere are the 7800's????? on: October 10, 2011, 11:35:39 PM
5870 is best hash per ££££($$$$) or the 5850 OC'd. 5870's are like rocking horse poo to find, and 5850's are more and more the same. 5970's are still silly money, especially with the dip in BTC, but hey, thats half the fun Smiley

How do you figure that? How many hashes per 5870 and what price are you getting them at?

Example:
$280 5870, 460MH/s = 1.64 MH/$
$400 5970, 700MH/s = 1.75 MH/$

Unless you are finding 5870 at less than $250 per card new I don't see how they are best hasher per $$$.
Are far as the 5970s being "silly money" unless you are only buying one card, 2x 5870 cost more than a 5970.

5970 makes deployment simpler and has higher electrical efficiency.  However keep buying those 5870s I don't want the price to go up on 5970s.

Trust me mate. Here in the UK we get foked over by the gov. The prices are insane here. 2x5870 much cheaper than a 5970. 400 USD for 5970 is MAGIC to us.

Bitcoin: Mining, selling, don't believe it'll fly.!?!?!?!?!?!

Namecoin: Mined, sold for BTC, sold BTC.  Don't believe it'll fly.

Ixcoin/I0coin/SolidCoin/GeistGeld: Mined, sold for BTC, sold BTC, don't believe it'll fly.

Tenebrix: Mining, selling, don't believe it'll fly, believe it'll get raped by botnet(s).

Fairbrix: Mined in case an exchange pops up.  Don't believe one will, or that it'll fly.

SC2: Don't believe it'll fly, won't mine unless source is released and it's really *%@ profitable, in which case I'll mine, trade for BTC, sell BTC, and still don't believe it'll fly.

Everyothercoin:  Will likely mine, will trade for BTC, will sell BTC, don't believe it'll fly.

We don't need people like you here. You are not a "true believer" LOL  Grin

Namecoin: Never mined, was gifted 30,000 coins and still holding them.

Ixcoin: SMASHED it at Difficulty 16 with 60 GH /s, made over 600BTC in 7 days

i0coin: AGAIN hit it hard at low difficulty made right at 200 BTC

Solidcoin: Nevermined on a large scale or Nevermind, take your pick.

Tenebrix: Mined a few, nothing major

Fairbrix: Experimental, gave a way a bunch. Still have about 20,000 left.

GeistgGeld: Buying and selling as soon as I get them, made about 68 BTC so far.

 Grin Grin Grin

How much of this from attacking ( Namecoin and Fairbrix etc. ) Huh Bet 90% stolen from others at least.

unless they can somehow remove the 21mil limitation it will be kept to a select few...... now if their was 100mil in circulation things would be up on price.

you think more coins in circulation = higher prices?

LOL bet you he failed his economics module Smiley

Google scarcity mate.
2508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What speed are your getting CPU mining TENEBRIX? on: October 10, 2011, 10:17:52 PM
AMD + Linux = you don't pay anyone Wink

You don't have to pay system admin's.  Wow.
Spoken like a 14 year old script kiddie with no concept of Total Cost of Ownership.

Linux isn't free.  Hate to break it to you but the cost of the OS is almost immaterial in the total lifecycle cost of most projects.

So moving  140TB production and mission critical database to Linux platform would be free?
Buying AMD servers, benchmarking them, and ensuring they can handle system load would be free (don't forget salary time spent doing so)?
Converting couple million lines of T-SQL into PL-SQL or equivalent would be free?
Putting my entire career on the line to save a couple thousand dollars (pennies in our IT budget) would be free?
Firing our 24/7 windows/SQL Server support team, hiring and training Linux & Oracle admins would be free?

Any system disruptions, delays, downtimes, and reduced performance on a 24/7 mission critical server would be free?

In the real world companies really don't care about cost when it comes to mission critical hardware.  Nobody looks to save a nickle if there is a risk to uptime.  I sure as hell am not going to suggest a move from a stable known platform to a completely unknown platform just to save a couple grand.  We tend to upgrade servers once every 4 years.  Say we could save $500 per CPU x 8 CPU = $4000 every 4 years = $1000 annually.  Not even 0.1% of IT budget.  Ditching SQL Server would save us some coin but Oracle would cost even more.  Windows Enterprise + SQL Server Datacenter COMBINED is cheaper than equivelent Oracle license.  Moving our mission critical server to MySQL or PostgreSQL?  I am not going to be the one pushing for it.

Seems like you know your stuff. Well done. I was talking about home PCs though Smiley

Anyone going to 51% this with a bunch of high-CPU AWS instances?

LOL fail. It cannot be 51% because of new design with policing peers. Haters gonna hate.

There is going to be a successfull attack within 48 hours after launch.

How do you know ? Please do enlighten us !
2510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to grow up. on: October 10, 2011, 10:15:25 PM

Trust me, Tenebrix will NEVER get attacked by a botnet because its creators are the only ones with botnets here and they won't attack their new "baby". I am 100% sure of this. Why did Failbrix get attacked and not Tenecrapix ? There you go.

Are you bitrebel?

Alright, you need to stop this BS about me being somebody else. Me being CH. Me being Darth Vader etc.

I am my own person and I have no connection with anybody else on this forum or other forums. 100% no connection with anyone. No CH. No RS. No bitrebel etc.

Just stop it because it really is getting annoying. I am not a SC troll, I just see that it really is much more usable than Bitcoin. Some of you on here seem to think that Bitcoin is the end all, be all of cryptocurrencies.

Think whatever you like. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. You need to stop trolling SC and let it be. Why so much hate towards SC ? Why so much hate towards CH / RS ? Bizarre really. Maybe you are feeling the competition and don't like competing ? Who knows. The establishment / gov. is the enemy, not CH / RS / SC etc.

Are you sure you're not bitrebel?

100% sure mate ! I'm not THAT nuts LOL.

We will see.... thats all im saying

Well I *hope* you are wrong.  It would be a massive step backwards for gaming and GPU.  Might as well scrap plans for any new games in 2012 either push them back or scale them down to take advantage of existing hardware.   While you are at it sell any stock you own in AMD as no gamer is going to upgrade for no performance gain and pay another $400 for the privilege.  AMD only saving grace has been strong graphic sales and if the 7xxx series is pathetically priced like that it will kill off all demand.

Actually I don't hope, I 100% know you are wrong.  The 7870 won't be priced at $400 (6970 retail price).  I am willing to place a bet of any amount on any bitcoin betting system against that.

Saying "We will see" is kind meaninless.

I could say "I think the 7570 will deliver 438940238 TH/s on 0.5watts and cost $1.95, we will see!"  Grin

Guys it really is damn clear how it is going to pan out.

7800 are based on VLIW4 but 28nm just like current cards so not much better at mining than current cards just more power efficient etc.
7900 are based on CGN new thing at 28nm and will be like Nvidia so not good for mining.

5870 cards are the best for bitcoin mining ! There will be no replacement for them in the future, sadly. Maybe I should stock up on some more !?

I think that Intel makes and markets them only for the very narrow niche where some "enterprise software" licenses are sold "per-socket".

Which is exactly where we use them.  You either pay intel or you pay Microsoft.  Either way you are going to pay.  Personally I prefer paying Intel.  Too bad AMD DB performance is craptastic (well that is an exaggeration) or someday we may have a some AMD heavy iron.  Then again if you are old enough you remember the saying "Nobody ever got fired buying IBM".  Well today it is "Nobody ever got fired buying Intel".  Not sure I would be willing to put my career on the line for a $20K+ AMD Server.

AMD + Linux = you don't pay anyone Wink

Is that modern or antic Jibberish ?

2516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to grow up. on: October 10, 2011, 09:08:49 PM
Trying to do a doublespend/history overwrite is of limited economic utility to the botnet op due to risk of failing to get money before stuff goes down and effort needed, especially when compared to simplistic "mine coins, sell less than 30% of mined coins, rinse repeat" which is the best modus operandi for an economically motivated 51-er.

Botnet ops are likely to be economically motivated.

Also, only the first botnet poses a 51-threat. If the first botnet decides not to destroy the net, the threat of 51 will disappear naturally as more botnets swarm in.

NOW.  When the economic value is next to nothing.  What is someday this altcoin handles Paypal sized transactions (~$200M per day).  I mean your only defense is to remain so small and pathetic that no botnet would feel the need to destroy you.   Not that they can't at any point (both now and far into the future) just that they feel no reason to because the network is insignificant.

Excuse me, but even now "mine coins, sell less than 30% of mined coins, rinse repeat" is more economically sound for someone who has 51 percent, simply because effort is minimal, revenue is guaranteed, there are no electricity and other such costs (for the bnop), and by virtue of having 51+ of coin production, the botnet can drive price up by simply selling off a tiny fraction of what it mines.

Then explain the double spend on i0coin

1)
Sophisticated technological prank.

The point wasn't so much to rob doublec (If we assume that perp was a botnet, that is, had no electricity, maintenance, and other such costs, the perp could have simply taken over and hogged i0c supply, driven the price up by selling off only a fraction, then made quite a sum by sustaining this scheme for extended period of time).

The point was to show off, to demonstrate capacity to "pwn" the defenses in place

2)
Was not perpetrated by a botnet (the perp paid electricity and other costs), thus followed different cost/benefit analysis in regards to possibility of price manipulation

3)
Combination of the above

Trust me, Tenebrix will NEVER get attacked by a botnet because its creators are the only ones with botnets here and they won't attack their new "baby". I am 100% sure of this. Why did Failbrix get attacked and not Tenecrapix ? There you go.

Paying 2000 USD just for the CPU = EPIC !

Care to explain please with idiot proof instructions on 64bit linux

Quote
Intel doesnt suck that much actually. I have a g6950 @ 3.8ghz doin nearly 3.7kh / core. Also, my i3 550 @ home @ 4ghz does 4kh/core
Sure, still not as good as AMD but a lot closer then some of the posted results ive seen in the forum.

If I can get my 2600K to do 30 khash/s in total then it is worth it. Otherwise, no. AMD folks easily getting 34 khash/s with their junk chips.
2518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GEM - as a potential stable value currency on: October 10, 2011, 08:37:11 PM
If stability is not why you are mining, I totally get that. I don't have a problem with competitive mining.

I'm just trying to sort out if anyone thinks stability is a feature. Is there a market for such a thing?

I think this is a similar idea to suggester's thread. However, after 18 months maybe sentiments have changed?

Yep. Anyone who sees Bitcoin at $30 then at $5 will think immediately it is a scam. Price stability will make it much more adoptable by merchants etc. to be used as a real currency not just a nerd / speculator toy.
2519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What speed are your getting CPU mining TENEBRIX? on: October 10, 2011, 08:34:29 PM

Like THAT will help. Scrypt just sucks on Intel because of architecture just like Nvidia sucks at SHA256 etc.

Use SC2. Probably a trojan in there too.
2520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Announce] Fairbrix relaunched! on: October 10, 2011, 08:28:39 PM
8 Japanese scammers plot is just getting bigger and bigger.

Why don't you release the scrypt GPU miner even if it sucks ?
Why don't you make it viable on Intel CPUs ?
Why don't you pregenerate less coins ?
Why is there so much focus on exchanges already ( pump and dump much ) ?
Why yet another new CPU ScamChain all based on scrypt crap algo ?

See the pattern. Educate yourselves.
Oldminer - please go away.
It's one thing to be annoying, but in your case your both annoying and often wrong.
At least try to get most of the crap you say right (not all of it, just most of it)
It just make you look like a complete fool to everyone here on the forum who has an inkling of reality.

WTF now I am "OldMiner" before I was RealSolid / CoinHunter !? Get your facts straight man, the only scammers on here are your 8 Japanese fake scammer identities. I am myself.
