2521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Be ready when is launches! on: October 10, 2011, 08:26:08 PM
@Coblee

How about a daemon for Windows?

Building litecoind on Windows is a pain in the ass. I haven't used Windows in about 8 years. Yet I somehow managed to build the QT version of litecoin in a VM. I will ask around to see if anyone can help me with this.

Tell me about it, been trying for the past four hours to get a Windows daemon going.

Try this https://github.com/downloads/coblee/litecoin/litecoin-windows-daemon-10-09-2011.zip

So will this ScamCoin work on Intel too ? Probably not as it uses crappy scrypt shit algo.
2522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Tenebrix Faucet on: October 10, 2011, 08:24:26 PM
Faucet is back up and moved to http://tenebrix.org/faucet/.

Thank you for your patience.

Nice move ! Much more logical to find the faucet on the original website.
2523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to grow up. on: October 10, 2011, 08:22:45 PM
Anyone with a botnet could bring down these CPU ShitChains.
2524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What speed are your getting CPU mining TENEBRIX? on: October 10, 2011, 08:19:34 PM
Damn it !!! How can I optimize my crap 2600K !?

You folks with AMD Phenom II at 3.6 GHz getting 16 khash/s on only 5 cores
Me with Intel 2600K at 4.2 GHz getting 9 khash/s on all 8 threads

Fuck Intel !

The 2600K doesn't have 8 real cores.  It merely tricks the OS into thinking there are 2 cores for each real core to keep the CPU more efficiently loaded. Internally there are 4 actual cores.

HT isn't a performance doubler because the CPU only has 4 physical cores not 8.  Some applications perform slightly faster w/ HT.  Some perform faster w/ HT off.  All out database servers have HT turned off for example because we see higher throughput w/ HT turned off.  The more the pipeline can be kept full the less advantage HT provides (eventually reducing performance when pipeline is continually full).

Your comparison should be based on 4 cores not 8. The 2600K has 4 cores and will perform as 4 core processor when performance per thread is maxed out.

Damn it ! Should have waited till Bulldozer with 8 REAL cores !!! FU Intel.
2525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternate Cryptocurrencies Rewiew on: October 10, 2011, 08:16:57 PM
You can make an "GPU/AMD hostile, Intel friendly currency" if you think there's a market.
I own an Intel CPU myself ... let's see how it fares.
Yeah, let's create a CPU coin for Intel SandyBridge processor users and let's call it SandyCoin  Wink

Use SC2.
2526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] CryptoCoin, the new Hacker-hostile, Noob-friendly fork! on: October 10, 2011, 08:13:45 PM
Current CPU mining coins favor AMD users, why don't someone create a CPU coin for Intel SandyBridge i5 and i7 users, let's call it SandyCoin  Wink

It is called SC2 and it rocks !
2527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 10, 2011, 08:13:12 PM
When will source code come available?

What if the final version has a keylogger or walletstealer inside?

TrojanCoin2?

Sorry... I won't run this without knowing if it is safe...

What if Windows has NSA backdoor ? You would never know it. Thank you for keeping off SC2. More coinzzz to me fools.
2528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 10, 2011, 07:46:13 PM
News about optimizations !? If not, fk this I am moving to SC2 which knows how to appreciate my 2600K beast. Keep drinking the AMD kool aid folks !
2529  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: WHy do people only buy ATIcards when NVIDA is somuch better? on: October 10, 2011, 10:39:21 AM
And btw, i had an ATI even before discovering bitcoin, so uh, nvidia is not better even outside of bitcoin

It blatantly is. Nvidia is best for driver support ( ATI has shittiest drivers ever - 100% CPU bug STILL present now ), gaming performance and general stability and usage as normal GPU. Only get ATI if you want to compute. Avoid otherwise.
Fanboy detected. Worst driver are nvidia: remember the one with the fan bug that made the card MELT?

I have no 100% cpu bug and perfect gaming performance and stability.

Maybe i am a god?

You're probably right about the fanboy thing. He doesn't even know about Catalyst apparently, much less using different versions and the effect it has.

CPU bug still present in all versions up to latest 11.9. Dumb lazy AMD developers did not bother to fix it. Don't even try and say that ATI drivers > Nvidia drivers ! ATI cards always lose on benchmarks because of shit drivers while Nvidia always has got optimized drivers etc. so better performance.
2530  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: backdoor-merged-mining with cheating miners on: October 10, 2011, 10:37:44 AM
This is VERY LIKELY to be happening. Bring down the scammers !
2531  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Merged mining now live on: October 10, 2011, 09:00:30 AM
All i see here is a soon to be BackDoor for pool hoppers.

Yes merged mining seems to work. But i think this is just a trial run to walk upto the big pools and go "hey this is good and works"
Then the fuck with someshit and start poolhopping once a bigpool goes "yeah you can merged mine here, Lemme follow your instructions to get that setup"

Pool hopping AND merged mining. Now that is the way to get some $$$
2532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Announce] Fairbrix relaunched! on: October 10, 2011, 08:50:24 AM
8 Japanese scammers plot is just getting bigger and bigger.

Why don't you release the scrypt GPU miner even if it sucks ?
Why don't you make it viable on Intel CPUs ?
Why don't you pregenerate less coins ?
Why is there so much focus on exchanges already ( pump and dump much ) ?
Why yet another new CPU ScamChain all based on scrypt crap algo ?

See the pattern. Educate yourselves.
2533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 10, 2011, 08:47:00 AM
It's OK.
He WILL install the closed source client just like the rest of the trolls will.
Capitalism beats patriotism every time!!!!

So true.
2534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 10, 2011, 08:45:33 AM
I am a little curious about this currency? Why have you opted to make it GPU 'hostile'? What do you mean by this? I'm a little lost as I'm used to mining with GPU for everything else. Can GPU mining work but with limitations or is it all blocked from GPU? How can Tenebrix tell if CPU/APU/GPU/FPGA is used to mine it rather than being CPU mined like intended? Theoretically some guy can just point his GPU to a named worker set to mine this currency?

The algorithm uses requires a large amount of highspeed cache.  Something GPU lack thus GPU will need to pull from global memory (video card memory) doing that make it impossible to operate parallel as the various shaders will be constantly blocking each other's access to global memory.  With a CPU it has sufficient dedicated local cache that each core can operate at full speed without conflict.   You CAN mine with a GPU however you won't get the 100x to 500x performance boost compared to CPU that you see in other cryptocurrencies.

Given the higher cost of GPU combned with higher energy usage it makes mining on a GPU economically prohibitive.

The algorithm doesn't look to see if you are using a GPU, that would be easily defeated.  It simply is based on a "problem" that GPU aren't very good at solving (yet).

would be interesting how good or bad it really is to mine on a GPU. Art, will you release your scrypt gpu miner? has somebody else tested it?

Don't exactly know why but he won't release it. I have already asked.

OK, fair enough.

2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what pricepoint is bitcoin dead? on: October 10, 2011, 03:38:54 AM
Seems to me bitcoin is dead where its been hanging at for weeks, 4 to 5 bux a bitcoin is not helping anyone.  To expensive to create them with the cards and electricity cost, selling, trading too risky for way to low of profit, the only way bitcoin gets back to where it needs to be seems to be if some company starts accepting them, newegg, amazon something like that or when all the bitcoins have been made, then maybe the value would rise.  It is a toy at this price point, needs to be 10 to 15 a bitcoin to actually pay for itself, pay for anything make it work.  1 buck sucks, 4 bux sucks, kinda dead and stuck for past month, not looking good.

True that !
2538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 10, 2011, 03:27:30 AM
Rumor is that SC 2.0 is just a small recursion loop inserted into the BTC hash algorithm. If that is true, it should be trivial to make recursion simulation for GPUs. I wouldn't bother mining SC 2.0 on CPUs until we see the algorithm, it would be a waste of electricity.

Unless source is never released...
Then I suppose Solidcoin is dead.  Embarrassed

Why so !? Normal people don't give a dog poop about the source of a software they use. They only care it works or not etc. Maybe he will release the source or maybe he won't. Who cares !? As long as it works then more power to him.

Having the source code is much more than a requirement for any serious/trust-able solution.

Linux = open source = trust-able
Windows = closed source = crap
Bitcoin = open source = trust-able
Solidcoin = mysterious closed source = crap

LOL nice analogy so SolidCoin = Windows and Bitcoin = Linux. You are a genius !

So then Tenebrix = Mac  Grin !?
2539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Project Mainstream Update - We're calling in Alex Jones tomorrow. on: October 10, 2011, 03:23:28 AM
Did the 9/11 truthers find fuel with Alex Jones?  Or does it remain a niche conspiracy theory way outside the mainstream?

Most people I know question the government's purported involvement in 9/11. I do. The fact is the government knew about the plans of the attacks before they happened and they did nothing. It's reasonable to question what actually happened and Alex Jones, in fact, helped spread this knowledge.

However, it's irrelevant. Alex Jone's has a market that will help Bitcoin.

I echo that. Alex Jones should have been brought into this sooner. They are the kinds of people that fit the average Bitcoin user profile.
2540  Other / Meta / Re: Moderators for alt. currencies subforum on: October 10, 2011, 03:20:26 AM
I suggest you leave the threads because some of them really are comedy gold which is priceless Grin. Seriously, this forum should have a comedy tax implemented. Some people / threads are just too damn funny. My coworkers look weird at me when I am reading the forums and suddenly burst in laughter. Laissez-faire is the best approach not deletion and censorship. I though we were supposed to "stick it to the man" and speak our mind freely around here, no ?
