2641  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BIOWARFARE ON AMERICANS: RFK Jr. says CIA was directly involved in funding COVID on: August 02, 2023, 08:28:17 AM
RFK Jr seems like a man on a mission. I wouldn’t mind seeing him run in 2028. He seems like he’s out for revenge for his family. I think he’s right to be worried for his safety as well. His recent comments about the JFK files being illegally suppressed along with his hatred of the CIA has got to have him on some bad lists. I hope he sticks around.

I just saw that Doc Rivers is working for ESPN now.  Grin

Guess teams have finally realized that he is not the coach you need if you want to win. His resume in the playoffs over the past years is so weak, no wonder nobody wanted to sign him, even when there were 4 or so vacant coaching positions available after last season.

Once you start working for a tv network, your career almost always is over.

Doc Rivers is a cool dude, but he doesn’t exactly have a voice that you’d want to listen to. The guys they fired to make room for him were great too. I think ESPN has made some staffing mistakes over the last couple of years as they seemingly are trying to steer clear of anyone controversial. I agree though, Doc won’t be coaching again.
2643  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: August 02, 2023, 08:21:39 AM
When you walk around a casino, they aren’t populated with people who don’t have sufficient money. They are usually populated by people who go there to burn money. You typically see retirees with more retirement income than they know how to spend. You have celebrities and people on vacation looking for a good time. Gambling is entertainment after all and that usually has a cost.
2644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC asked Coinbase to halt trading in everything except BITCOIN, CEO says on: August 01, 2023, 09:10:30 PM
This was a bit of a surprising move to me.  I thought the SEC was in the pockets of large investment funds, which gave me the belief that when something like this happened, it wouldn't just be Bitcoin but would also be Ethereum that was allowed due to the massive amount of insiders that are holders.

For years Bitcoiners have been telling Coinbase to be Bitcoin only and stop the grifting altcoin nonsense.  It's sort of funny that it's the SEC that stepped up and made it happen.  This is one of those real life is wilder than fiction moments.  Good luck to Coinbase in their coming legal fight.  At least we now know why insiders and Cathie Wood suddenly started selling Coinbase.  Insider trading in public right before our eyes.  Guess how many will be punished?
2645  Economy / Goods / Re: Stainless steel Bitcoin Recovery Seed Plate on: August 01, 2023, 09:07:21 PM
My stainless steel plate is engraved with my fiber laser.

How do those laser engravers work these days?  I had one 10 years ago and it did a pretty bad job on metal.  The ease of use was amazing though.  They even show you where and what it will engrave before pushing the engrave button.  My engraver that I have always used directly engraves onto the metal with an engraver head.  That makes it pretty deep and on there forever in spite of whatever may happen to it.  I wonder if laser engraving is deep enough to feel or see the indentions as well as hold up to temperatures and scratches like a traditional engraver.  What is your take on it?
2646  Economy / Economics / Re: I think SEC was right this time as they sues Crypto Influencer -Richard Heart on: August 01, 2023, 08:59:31 PM
Holy shit...  This is the first time I'm reading about this.  Richard Heart is a total douchebag, but did he basically give the Hex tokens away for free?  I guess he had a schedule to sell them as well if I remember, but I would think the "free" offer would have protected him here.  I know nothing about pulsechain or pulsex though, and it seems those are his recent offerings so maybe he strayed a little from his original Hex distribution.

Richard Heart is sort of like the crypto version of PunchMadeDev so it would interesting to be a fly on the wall of his lawyer's office.  I wonder where he is now and if he's planning on running like Do Kwon did.
2647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 01, 2023, 08:56:27 PM
It was Bron's influence that brought Westbrook into LA right? Anyways, he did bring a ring already. Heading to the next season, the Lakers are becoming a better team IMO so they are pretty sure in the playoffs again if AD is healthy. Although I still doubt they will reach the conference finals. The west is getting more competitive with the Phoenix Suns adding a 4th big star in Bradley Beal and of course, Denver after the championship experience will have more confidence than ever.

The Lakers look better on paper, and I also expect them to make at least the playoffs next season. However, as you said, they will rely a lot on LeBron and Davis' health anyway, and that's a problem because both players have missed a lot of games due to injuries over the last few seasons. It will be good if LeBron can play at least 60 games and Davis at least 50 games next season.

You hit the nail on the head with the injuries, but are you really expecting Davis, a man in his prime, to play less games than a nearly 40 year old LeBron James?  That in itself shows the dire situation the Lakers are faced with.  They need to get rid of Anthony Davis for the good of the team.  I get that can't happen now because you have to cross your fingers and hope you'll get a healthy LeBron James and Anthony Davis going into the playoffs, but what do you think the odds of that are?  It makes you think maybe Kawhi Leonard is on to something.  How long until other teams just don't play their stars until the playoffs?
2648  Other / Meta / Re: re: "how to earn merit" topics on: August 01, 2023, 08:52:51 PM
Merit is both totally lame and kind of cool at the same time.  It gives people a goal to work towards, which is always nice.  However, it also makes people a little crazy.  I get that the main purpose is to be able to join a signature campaign (which is lame) but if there are any people out there who genuinely enjoy ranking up like this is a video game, that's cool.  I honestly don't like the system because it's somewhat of a circle jerk among some of the members here who seem to use it to gauge their value, but without it this place would probably be a ghost town of only members who actually care about Bitcoin, of which there are not too many of us left here.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 01, 2023, 07:00:16 PM
I just saw the new Phoenix Suns jerseys and I have to wonder out loud why the NBA changes jerseys so much. I liked it better when teams only changed their jerseys every 20 years or something. Now it’s like the Jersey designs have gotten so bad that people are happy when they have throwback jersey nights. I’m not a huge fan of their new designs…
2650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again. Will you take it? on: August 01, 2023, 06:58:38 PM
5 BTC to never gamble again sounds like the greatest offer I’ve ever been given. I’d even take 4 BTC to never gamble again without thinking twice about it. I’m pretty sure everyone would, right? That’s probably more money than I’ve gambled in my entire life. Definitely significantly more than I’ve ever made gambling. I’m thinking for $100K I could find a better source of entertainment.
2651  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 01, 2023, 03:14:25 AM
Oh fuck everything about this $28k action. Bah.

Shenanigans.

Seems a little like things are starting to break down. Usually that’s a buy the dip moment. I guess we’ll see…
2652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 31, 2023, 03:41:59 PM
The Dallas Mavericks are a mess. Now they’re targeting Clint Capela to be their center… I’m not sure what Mark Cuban is doing over there. It seems like maybe he’s lost touch with his team with all the other stuff he’s doing. The one good thing they had was Luka, and I think the Kyrie trade not only decimated their team’s roster but it may have also destroyed Luka’s career.
2653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RFK Jr Says He Purchased Bitcoin For His Kids on: July 31, 2023, 07:38:51 AM
I reckon that we might be witnessing bitcoin's mainstream acceptance as a collectible.
Yeah, why not, its the same thing, as long it is securely keep, i mean the safely backup its all good. Then redeem it later on after 5-10 years, just like any other investments.

I don’t know if I’d say he bought it as a collectible for his kids. I’d consider it more like starting a retirement account for your kids. While buying a collectible may be considered an investment, I think purchasing Bitcoin is more of a pure investment. I wonder if he’s holding onto them or what the custody situation is.
2654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Advise People To Stake? on: July 30, 2023, 08:43:18 PM
I think if someone were asking me about staking I would ask them where the interest comes from. In 99% of the coins out there, they run a scheme where they inflate the price, then put in staking to get people to buy their coins at a high price in order to chase yield. In most cases though, the yield is a trap and your investment is the actual yield as original buyers cash out with huge gains.
2655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again on: July 30, 2023, 08:40:22 PM
I really don’t think Bitcoin hitting $1000 is a realistic possibility. So many funds and companies as well as wealthy individuals have such a large financial stake in Bitcoin now, it’s basically gotten too big to fail. I think as we are seeing now, when the price gets low enough banks are scooping up all that they can. Eventually they’ll limit the supply so much that price increases are inevitable. It’s in everyone’s best interests for Bitcoin to rise in price now, so I don’t think anyone will be able to stop it. Even compromised leadership and incompetent decision making can’t stop this train.
2656  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bankman-Fried WON'T face federal charges over $90M donations to Dems on: July 30, 2023, 08:35:59 PM
This is the way the world works now. Liberal politicians will do any corrupt thing they can to gain influence and power. Of course they weren’t going to prosecute someone for paying their bribery fees. In fact, this in itself shows you exactly what he was paying for with those donations. Corruption right out in the open and even though he stole billions from people, they’ll still deny the facts and think this is fair. Had he donated a dollar to Trump I promise you he’d be in a gulag right now.
2657  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I buy now or I should still wait for the dip? on: July 30, 2023, 08:31:47 PM
If you have faith in Bitcoin, there is never a wrong time to buy because you will surely make profit if you do not panic and sell... the when is what no one know.

This is sort of the trick. If you have faith in Bitcoin and a long enough time preference, it’s very likely that a Bitcoin investment would be extremely beneficial for you. However, if you’re investing money you can’t afford to lose with a low time preference, it is highly likely you will panic sell and lose a bunch of money. This is how Bitcoin rewards it’s faithful and decimates the finances of the get rich quick types.

How similar was Justin Gaethje kick to Leon Edwards' kick. It was an awesome finish. He was in the same hall when Edwards kicked us, by the way, this cage has magical results every time. The hit and fall were almost the same. Justin got the BMF belt, he finished fiziev before, now it's Dustin Porier's walk to a very solid summit. The finish was pretty flashy, I think it might be the best finish of his career. Next will be a bigger test for Justin. Charles and Islam are getting pretty hot again in the lightweight to match the cauldron of the match. Wow, that's a pretty good card. Head kick City Hell.

Was it Justin Gaethje that Conor McGregor was talking about with his tweet promising he’d be able to knock him out with one shot? It seemed a bit like this was the fight to decide who gets to face off against McGregor at the end of the year. I expected Gaethje to lose if I’m being honest, but now it seems like a Gaethje vs McGregor bout is likely what will happen next. Right?
2659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin to pay everything online? on: July 30, 2023, 08:25:46 PM
1. Base-layer bitcoin is slow and can be expensive at times, hence why we have layer-2 solutions being developed — which are networks/channels designed to have cheaper and faster transactions.

2. You obviously can't use bitcoin to pay for everything today because not everyone accepts BTC as payment. A bandaid solution though are bitcoin debit cards — which are quite useful if you're heavy on BTC and if you're fine with AML/KYC.

While you obviously can’t pay for everything online using Bitcoin, and to be honest the amount of things you can buy online with Bitcoin has declined severely over the last decade, you can be sure that there are even less things you can buy with the garbage layer 2 “solution” that is pretty much only used in third world countries that have been bamboozled into thinking it’s a good idea.

Looks like the highlights of the night were Lewis doing another “my balls was hot” moment and Poirier getting knocked out with a head kick. That was vicious and I didn’t expect it at all. He was laying on the canvas looking like he got starched. Eminem being there for a walkout was pretty cool too. Seems like these UFC events are starting to get pretty massive.
