1881  Economy / Reputation / Re: Does Live Stars Deserve My Negative Trust? on: September 28, 2023, 04:55:14 PM
This doesn’t sound like a situation where negative trust would be appropriate, but I’ll admit to not being familiar with the details. The deleting of posts is definitely a concern though. It sounds to me like they probably deleted the posts and sold their account or they want to get into a signature campaign. Maybe this would be a situation where using a flag to give details of the previous venture and linking to copies of the deleted posts might be appropriate? Again, I’ve never even used flags so who knows what their purpose is, but this seems like it might fit there.
1882  Economy / Economics / Re: X (formerly Twitter) may be telling people like me to exit the platform on: September 28, 2023, 04:51:53 PM
The crazy part about this X thing to me is that no matter how much Elon says he wants free speech, the employees are still censoring people. Just yesterday he fired the entire fair election team for manipulating elections. I myself even still get censored when discussing topics like transgender people. There’s still a ways to go…
1883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving cycle on: September 28, 2023, 04:50:16 PM
When looking and comparing the 4-year cycles of the past it is also important to note that 2 major events caused the difference in last cycle compared to the others. Covid hit, causing a massive sudden decline, but I think that event could be removed as a one time thing. Then you had the limiting of the bubble due to FTX manipulation. Strike those two events out and I think we see a six figure BTC on the last cycle, which could enable some shocking gains in the next two years by comparison.
1884  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The KRAKEN rises, meaning the 2020 election fraud is being corrected. on: September 28, 2023, 04:47:32 PM
Some major developments happening in Arizona right now. Everyone is wondering what Hobbs is up to. I’ve heard everything from a medical procedure to trying to distance herself from the fraudulent election win, but something is definitely happening as she has been replaced with a temporary replacement. I guess at least it isn’t a body double Fetterman style.
1885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sometimes just flex it ( luck is all you need) on: September 28, 2023, 04:45:47 PM
Winning a 100 to 1 bet is always exhilarating. I’m not sure I’d call it a flex given the money involved, but you made a quick little bet that would probably buy you a nice hamburger in most places. Just be careful not to think this can be easily repeated, because that was a pretty impressive gamble. Keep flexing and keep sharing those big wins!
1886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the wildest thing you've ever bet on and won? on: September 28, 2023, 04:43:13 PM
Some funny stories mentioned in here. I personally for the life of me can’t think of a funny bet at the moment but I enjoyed reading some of the stories posted here. Most of the humorous bets from my past would likely involve alcohol or girls, but I’m not sure if those would be appropriate to mention here. Always in good fun for everyone.
1887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Youth Gambling on: September 28, 2023, 04:40:41 PM
Among young people is a result of the availability of gambling alternatives, such as sports betting and online gambling. Gambling disorders can have long-term effects on a person's ability to complete their education and choose their future, and young individuals may be particularly susceptible to acquiring these illnesses

I don’t think that “young people” have as much ability to gamble using traditional methods due to the roadblocks involved. More likely youth gambling is encouraged more by schoolyard bets over games or even bets with their friends about other things. Could this be a path to gambling addiction? Maybe. I also think it is quite normal behavior.
1888  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino vs. Broker: Who's Really Playing You in the Money Game on: September 28, 2023, 04:39:04 PM
You know how casinos lay it all out, they're taking a gamble just like us? But get this, brokers might just be outdoing them in their own sly way. I’m saying brokers might actually be worse. Why? They’ve got this neat, little setup where they rake in their shares through bid-offer spreads and commissions, all while carrying zero market risk. It’s like having their cake and eating it too, but in secret. We’re all out here rolling the dice, while brokers are the house, cashing in risk-free. What’s your take? Are brokers just silently stacking the deck, snagging a surefire win with every trade we make?

Of course brokers are making money on every trade you make. That’s their business. If they were gambling on trades to make money, then it would be safe to assume that at some point they would lose big possibly effecting the balances of their customers. It’s easier to take a small piece of all the action then to try and gamble for a bigger piece. That benefits nobody.
1889  Economy / Speculation / Re: Potential events that can initiate next bitcoin rally on: September 28, 2023, 04:37:04 PM
Right now I think a catalyst for a rally in the short term would be some strength shown by Binance. The big cloud hanging over the market at the moment seems to be people thinking Binance isn’t solvent, so if BNB made a move upward, it would calm the market. Then of course there’s the ETF approval and even the mtgox distribution, which once those happen would be an all clear sign for major investors.
1890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Marathon Digital Holdings failed experiment on: September 28, 2023, 04:34:48 PM
It is good that these experiments are being done and that Bitcoin is apparently still ahead of the curve. It shows that these companies with all their investment are beginning to dive deep into the technical aspects of Bitcoin to see if they can break something. They won’t be able to, because Bitcoin has been tested for a while, but it’s still a great thing they’re experimenting.
1891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 28, 2023, 04:32:28 PM
I think Warriors see the value of Gay instead of hiring Howard, which I think might have a future issue with Green. Both are talkative and I guess
Warriors management wanted to prevent that.

Warriors with the healthy trio plus cp3 and the rest of the squad still have that competitive chance of chasing the ring.

LOL, so you're saying Howard has some kind of attitude problem? Smiley

Well, I guess you're right. The big 3 are still the voices of the team, and I think they have the freedom to do everything they want on the floor because they've already achieved success together. Probably, that's one of the reasons why Poole isn't playing the same way anymore. He might have been frustrated when he wasn't in the starting lineup or didn't have the same level of freedom as the big 3.

Howard can be quite demanding as a player, which is understandable given his past star status. However, he needs to be realistic and understand his current role, especially since he's just joining a team and isn't a franchise player anymore.

If you’ve ever read the rumors about Dwight Howard’s off the court lifestyle choices or seen the clips of him grabbing his teammates’ crotches on the bench during games then you’d have an idea why some guys don’t want him in their locker room.

The story for the Warriors now will be their lineup, as Kerr has said they basically have 6 starters.
1892  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 28, 2023, 04:30:00 PM
It never fails.

Every time I have to sell a little bit to pay some bills, a nice big green candle happens a few days later.

You're welcome.

Sell the rest of your stack! Just kidding. It is nice to see an unexpected jump in price here to over $27K. I think the downward pressures are subsiding a bit and the upward pressure is starting to build in the Bitcoin market. Today’s move might have to do with the broader global economy though, as equities are also seeing an up day which has been rare lately.
1893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 27, 2023, 09:29:40 PM
Just in… Giannis is getting himself some help. Woj is reporting that the Portland Trailblazers have agreed to trade Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks!!! I’m a bit shocked at this. Giannis made some waves hinting he was leaving and the Bucks stepped up. This is the best news of the offseason so far!!!

DAME to the Bucks!

Phoenix lost Ayton and got stuck with Grayson Allen… That hurts… Not sure why the Suns did this.

Yeah, I was surprised to see Ayton's name to be included on that trade, although it's forthcoming as seasons ago when Ayton's didn't get a rookie max contract. But in return, Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson goes to Phoenix.

And Bucks losing Jrue Holiday? I think there were rumors as well with him. So for me I'm not also surprised that his name was included in the trade. So Dame from West to East, going to be a great season as we will see how this will translate for Giannis, specially he said that he wanted to change more ring and become a winner and a champion.

As far as Jrue Holiday is concerned, the Blazers are already saying they want to immediately deal him away. This doesn’t make much sense to me considering I think he would fill a need for Phoenix as a point guard now that Chris Paul is gone. I guess we’ll have to see what Phoenix does next but this deal seems like a lot of missed opportunities for the Suns to me.
1894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin fail if not Peer-to-Peer and self custody? on: September 27, 2023, 07:59:40 PM
Mike Hearn famously announced Bitcoin was a failure back in 2016 (or was it 2017?). Anyway, it does seem that Bitcoin is not on a path to be a p2p currency as described in the whitepaper. However, it can still be transferred p2p even if it can’t scale and you can still self custody, so there is hope that Mile will turn out to be wrong. However, the jury is still out.

I literally just saw the news today and I wasn't expecting this. I bet nobody is expecting this! The Bucks really did something after Giannis had that statement hinting on leaving the team he won't get enough help lol. Did they gave up too much? No I don't think so, because they got Dame.
The Suns were crazy for giving up Ayton, all they have now is a bunch of power forwards with no legit center. I thought they think Ayton will not going work with how they plan to run their play next season with Bradley Beal being on the team.
But, nah Ayton was a great piece for the Suns.

Jimmy Butler seems to be taking it well. He posted this video just after the news broke. He’s a comedian so this is obviously a joke, but still pretty funny and I’m sure some news agencies will run with it as some insider leak of facts.

https://x.com/worldwidewob/status/1707104205906063363

In the above clip you can see Butler asking the NBA to investigate the Bucks for tampering. An obvious joke.
1896  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will The USD (and military) remain a Global force for at least 5 more years? on: September 27, 2023, 06:25:50 PM
5 years isn’t a very long time. While the Biden administration has definitely sowed the seeds for the USD to lose global reserve currency status, the fact is that the USD and the US military are juggernauts that cannot just quickly disappear. It will take a long time. Maybe 20-30 years or more, but losing global dominance is inevitable.

I just saw this on Facebook.: Rudy Gay has agreed on a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors.

https://www.facebook.com/NBA.updates4all/posts/pfbid02akbi8ucCxXD5C97zonDD6A9QHZ3WaCBRSsjbfQjKwZ9FoU1BefoxWqHRzD4gQ3ttl

I thought this guy was already done in the NBA but it looks like he still has a contract, unlike Dwight Howard who humorously claimed to be with the Golden State Warriors this season.
Rudy Gay averaged only 5 points per game while playing an average of 15 minutes last season.

This is an interesting signing by the Warriors… I don’t see Rudy Gay giving them many minutes this season, but maybe he could come in and get a few buckets when they need him to. Personally I think Dwight Howard could have helped the team much more and played a larger role, but maybe Gay has been drinking from the fountain of youth.
1899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Has Changed My Life 👨‍💻 on: September 27, 2023, 06:08:48 PM
There is a reason they say easy come and easy go with relation to certain types of money. When you gamble or trade in markets you can be incredibly successful very quickly, but that can turn into a double edged sword when things swing the other way and you lose all your money in an instant. When it comes to Bitcoin, I think people are wise to stack and wait.
1900  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 27, 2023, 06:06:31 PM
It seems like the economy is beginning to take a heavy toll on equities. I wouldn’t doubt it if we saw a 15% correction in the S&P 500 from here over the next several months. Interesting times as we await to see if a recession cancels out Bitcoin’s 4-year cycle. I’ll admit I’m not sure how it will react, but I know we’ll have our answer in the next two years.
