1961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 19, 2023, 03:55:33 PM
It’s a bummer that HBO cancelled Game Time, which was arguably the best show on TV. Many NBA players are asking that Netflix or another service buy the show and keep it going. I hope that happens. It is probably the best basketball show ever made. You can sign a petition below to try and bring it back on air.

This is a crazy image. Not to get all political with inflation, but damn.

1963  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: September 18, 2023, 04:47:55 PM
I have no idea what the outcome of this fight will be and to be completely honest I don’t even know who Regis Prograis is, but I have heard Devin Haney in the news for Bradley Martin (a podcaster) saying he could kick Devin’s ass in a street fight. Whatever happens with this fight, I hope it leads to a match between Bradley & Devin.
1964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade Deficits on: September 18, 2023, 07:43:51 AM
I think there already are plenty of goods you can buy only using Bitcoin, they just aren’t mainstream enough to make a big impact. If governments do start using crypto I don’t think we need to worry about the “trade deficit” as you put it. Clearly there will be plenty more demand than supply if adoption continues, and Bitcoin was designed that way.
1965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino features you like and Don't like but you don't mind on: September 18, 2023, 07:40:56 AM
A couple of features I like when it comes to online casinos are live betting and player bets. Being able to bet on individual player stats instead of just the outcome of the game can make it more fun to watch the game. Live betting can enable you to bet both sides throughout the game as odds change to put you in a win no matter what position.
1966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage your money on gambling sites. on: September 18, 2023, 07:37:39 AM
I think the reason people leave funds on an internet gambling site would be mostly convenience. Maybe a secondary concern goes to saving money on withdrawal and transaction fees. If you know that you’re going to be gambling again in the future I don’t see a problem leaving some funds on a site, but I wouldn’t use it as a savings account or wallet.
1967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navigating the World of Online Gambling on: September 18, 2023, 07:33:10 AM
Good tips. I agree with what you’ve said. Maybe with an emphasis on checking a casino’s reputation. When it comes to crypto entities on the internet, trust and reputation is everything. The best incentives in the world won’t mean anything if the casino offering them turns out to be operated by a scammer. Always think safety first.
1968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: September 18, 2023, 05:26:59 AM
Tyson Fury appeared on Caleb Pressley’s YouTube comedy interview show, which was based mostly around how horny Tyson is. If you aren’t familiar with Caleb’s show, it’s very dry humor and ridiculousness. Not sure it’s worth a watch if you’re looking for boxing insight, but if you like comedy and Tyson Fury check it out.
1969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: September 18, 2023, 12:28:15 AM
The rams choosing to kick a field goal when they were down by 10 as time expires to close the -7.5 spread against the San Francisco 49ers is a level of petty you don’t usually see in professional sports. I’m here for it and glad the Rams were looking out for their fan base. A lot of gamblers were feeling emotions watching that play call I’m sure.
1970  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Free Satoshi Skull decal! Greenpeace hit piece.. lol on: September 18, 2023, 12:16:37 AM
Take a look at this, the image has become a sculpture that you can go see.

I love that people enjoyed this image so much. It was so ridiculous, the obvious thing to do was to take its design and use it. Kudos to whatever artist put this together and made it a reality. I really appreciated seeing it. Enjoy!
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 18, 2023, 12:04:07 AM
Any promotion for an online casino is basically a trial offer. Most even require that you deposit real money and gamble a certain amount in order to be able to withdraw or use the trial offer. Just be careful. Trials can be good when the company offering them is reliable, but they are also traps for people in order to steal their funds.
1972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 17, 2023, 07:39:59 PM
NBA Central is reporting that the Clippers have ended trade talks with the 76ers for a potential James Harden trade. This isn’t good news for Harden, as he’s now faced with having to sit out the season if a new suitor doesn’t appear to his liking. Pretty similar situation as with Dame, although two completely different situations regarding loyalty at the same time.
1973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Cuban's Metamask was hacked on: September 17, 2023, 07:26:56 PM
It’s pretty crazy that someone as involved in crypto and with as much business and financial/technical knowledge as Mark Cuban could still manage to easily lose their money from their wallet. This is a danger that will definitely keep web3 from gaining adoption. Be careful out there folks. The scammers are everywhere and constantly evolving.
1974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 17, 2023, 07:23:04 PM
I wonder if he has the public key for the address?, or were they stored on one address or more?

Knowing the public key, he could at least have some hope, not that knowing public key could do magic, but at least we have some ideas which could be used to solve for private key. Of course if he is willing to spend money to hire a professional programmer to code the said ideas into an application/ tool.
Doing this is more practical than searching garbage, the hard drive is damaged by now due to humidity

I assume he has the private key. Otherwise he can’t be sure the funds weren’t already found and spent by someone else. Don’t kid yourself though, even with the public key there is no magic he can work and no additional hope that he would ever be able to get control of that lost Bitcoin ever again. He could look at it though.
1975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 17, 2023, 07:14:15 PM
The market seems to be fairly stable after digesting the FTX liquidation news. I wonder if the actual selling will cause further declines or not. I suspect that this week (if they truly do start selling) will be a good test to see which way the market is signaling it is going to run on these sales. Short term traders should pay attention to tomorrow’s early action.
1976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ads for online gambling should be banned. on: September 17, 2023, 07:12:34 PM
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/jun/28/ads-for-online-gambling-should-be-banned-in-australia-within-three-years-inquiry-recommends

If this should be implemented will it affect bitcointalk casinos? As we all know most established and new casinos come to bitcointalk to launch their ANN thread and carry out signature promotion campaigns which can be regarded as ads in a sense. If ads should be banned will their promotion in Bitcointalk also end?

Australian laws should have no effect on a global forum. I don't see how they can enforce this in their country without resorting to widespread censorship of the internet. Gambling ads are everywhere. Maybe they will just ban gambling entirely, that way even if a user clicks on an ad or visits a casino site after watching a video ad the domain will be blocked by their ISP.

I’m sure they would just follow Canada’s lead and start censoring websites from their citizens. It’s pretty crazy that this is happening to be honest but at least people still have the option to use VPNs for now. I’m sure someday in the not too distant future these countries will start making VPN use illegal.
1977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do I Verify the Integrity of Open-Source Code on: September 17, 2023, 07:10:31 PM
As others have already said you can use a checksum to verify the authenticity of a file. The best way is always to obtain the source code from the official trusted source and build it yourself though. It’s not even a very difficult task, you just need to get in the habit of doing it. I myself usually don’t go through the extra steps out of laziness, but it doesn’t take a lot of time or effort so it’s a good habit to get into.
1978  Other / Off-topic / Re: YOUTUBE VS TIKTOK on: September 17, 2023, 05:03:19 PM
TikTok inflates view counts and overpays creators because it is a con to get you to install the spyware onto your phone. People using the service have been bamboozled and their data stolen. YouTube is a great platform with lots of amazing creators that underpays them and censors the hell out of their content. At least it isn’t spyware though.
1979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 17, 2023, 04:40:15 PM
The news being reported today is that the Miami Heat and the Portland Trailblazers have made some progress on their trade talks. I think Damian Lillard’s threats about making drama in training camp were probably enough for Portland to just give in and give him what he wants. Dame shouldn’t have re-signed there if he didn’t want to stay there.
1980  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 15, 2023, 06:43:54 PM
I was surprised to see this article as I've had no communication that any distribution is incoming.  They claim in the article the refunds will be sent out by the end of next month.  While this would be great news, it is surprising to see someone making this claim.  I would assume that if the distribution was this close that I would have received some sort of notification.  In any event, this along with the FTX liquidations and forced selling at Binance should create the final buying opportunity before the next leg up.  Right on schedule.  A little too convenient if you ask me.
