2001  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 13, 2023, 04:47:35 AM
I keep seeing reports claiming that Blackrock is buying billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin right now. I actually hope that isn’t true because if they are and the market is still down this bad then I think that doesn’t show strong demand. With some luck they haven’t started buying yet, or the ETF approval might be a let down.
2002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 13, 2023, 04:45:17 AM
Draymond Green came out today and said that he doesn’t see why the Warriors can’t win another 2 championships. I think that may be a little optimistic. I thought when they had Wiseman that they had a chance to win another one but I don’t think an old CP3 is going to put them over the top. I think they need a big man who can shoot.
2003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 13, 2023, 12:47:06 AM
One of the last big purchases I made using Bitcoin was an iPad. I think I paid 1.25 BTC for it. Looking back, that wasn’t my best purchase and I don’t even use it anymore. So I can attest that if you have some BTC, it isn’t always the best idea to dump it for a new shiny thing, although I’m about to make the same mistake with a Tesla.
2004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 13, 2023, 12:45:15 AM
You can't exactly ban resting, they will just list those players as injured and since the doctors are the team doctors there isn't really anything you can do about it neither. Yeah yeah I know they will definitely "do something about that too" which they say every year, but first fix the free throws and lack of defense. We complain about all-star games becoming no defense games, people just show their shooting range and all, but regular season games are not getting any better, all those amazing defenders back in the day would foul out in the first minute of the game today. Every year they they will be more careful with the fouls, and every year they give 100 fouls a game. I don't believe a thing NBA says.

You know as they say, the NBA has become too soft nowadays. The highlights of the game are mostly from the three-point area or long-range shooting. No one defends the inside as hard as the 90s, nor is there anyone even brave enough to play like that because of the current rules governing the game. I know that they are actively going against players that are 'flopping,' but I don't think it's enough of a change to bring back at least a semblance of basketball wherein defenders are actually trying to prevent the enemy team to shoot.

They might as well call this rule the Kawhi rule. I also found it interesting that they had to come up with a definition for a star player, which they defined as having made an all star team the last three years. I imagine this leaves out quite a few bigtime players, but it’s a step in the right direction. The regular season needs more people caring about it.
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: September 13, 2023, 12:43:10 AM
Ngannou doesn't do trashtalk. It could be because of language but he doesn't do that either even to his MMA fights. Him noticing the belly could be interpreted differently but seems more like a joke.

But looking at it from a boxer's perspective, Fury is becoming fat and that belly is a belly of an obese fat. And Fury also wants to fight Jon Jones. Yep, this is going to turn into a bigger circus. They discover how easy it is to make money with crossover fights like how the Pauls did it.

From watching Ngannou sparring I would say that Tyson Fury wins this fight easily. Sure, Fury isn’t in shape like Ngannou, but that’s nothing new for Fury. At least he’s a proven boxer. After seeing Ngannou box in practice I am pretty sure this is just another money grab gimmick fight. Not worth watching in my opinion, but I’ll bet on Fury.

The CEO for Binance US just resigned. This is not a good thing by any means. I assume that means that Binance US was doing some shady things with customer deposits. While the US branch of Binance is just a company licensing their name, I do believe that they intermingled funds at some point, which would be a no-no. Get your big boy pants on. The market is about to separate the believers from the speculators.
2007  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 12, 2023, 05:47:48 PM
Between FTX and mtgox there is going to be a lot of BTC flooding to the market in the coming months. That being said, the ETF approvals will unleash a tidal wave of capital onto crypto. While you could try and time this perfectly, I think the best strategy will be to buy often for the next few months. In another 7 months BTC is going to start getting hard to come by.
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 12, 2023, 05:41:34 PM
Kevin Porter Jr.'s career in the NBA has got to be over. His alleged attack on his girlfriend who played in the WNBA, Kysre Gondrezic has left her with a broken neck. He’ll be lucky to avoid a lengthy prison sentence in my opinion, but even if he does I would hope that the NBA never pays him another penny after this incident.
2009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ouch, today someone made a transaction with over $500k fee. on: September 12, 2023, 04:50:50 PM
A little hard to believe that somebody could make this sort of mistake in this day and age but developers are people too. No doubt this was a sign of somebody’s last day at work, or maybe their first day. Needless to say, this was clearly an accident and likely the result of an error in somebody’s custom code that cost them bigtime.
2010  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has anybode suggested the idea of "crypto-communes"? on: September 12, 2023, 04:48:38 PM
One thing I can say with absolute certainty is that I’ve never browsed these forums and thought to myself, damn I wonder if it would be amazing to live with all these people. Lol. Not saying a crypto commune wouldn’t be a wonderful place to live, but I think I’d prefer a little more decentralized beliefs amongst the community I live in.
2011  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor predicts Bitcoin can go to $5 million? on: September 12, 2023, 04:41:42 PM
This really shouldn’t even be a headline. It isn’t a shocker that a guy with tons of BTC who owns a company that is heavily invested in BTC thinks the price will go up an astronomical amount. Imagine how much money he would be worth if that did happen. To me it is a little far fetched to think that could happen, but I guess anything is possible when the government can print dollars.

Talking about stars sitting out… It’s being reported that Damian Lillard will not be reporting to training camp unless it’s with the Portland Trailblazers or the Miami Heat. I guess he’s getting worried that Portland is going to use his trade request to dump him somewhere in order to kick off their roster rebuild.

With the Spurs waiving Cameron Payne, I wonder if the Suns will try to pick him up for cheap to help bolster their bench unit. Seems like a no brainer unless Cam is trying to get paid somewhere.

Glad to hear that Boban Marjanović is sticking around with a 1 year deal to play on the Rockets. He’s funny.

It looks like FTX will be selling $200,000,000 worth of crypto every week for the next 17 weeks… This will start next week. This downward pressure on the market will likely hold prices somewhat in check until the end of the year. I’d imagine once this is behind us (and the mtgox coins are distributed) it should be the final hurdle before launch.

how much BTC do they hold?

I hope this is still accurate  Cheesy

FTX's Bitcoin Balance Plunges to Just 1

3.4 billion dollars worth of my math is correct.

My statement also assumes that Binance won’t become insolvent when a drop happens. I think that is the biggest concern for the crypto market right now. A run on BNB has the potential to take Bitcoin below $20K.
2016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 10, 2023, 11:04:26 PM
Reports from the Bay Area saying that the Warriors may actually be looking to start Chris Paul when the season kicks off. That means they could have a lineup of CP3, Steph, Klay, Wiggins, & Draymond out there. Besides never winning a tip again, I’d imagine they would be dominated on the boards by bigger teams but their 3 point shooting would be crazy. Will be interesting to see their first game.
2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 10, 2023, 09:09:22 PM
Yeah, most likely it will be a big boost for him if he can carry team Germany. The thing with Dennis is that he has help in engaging his team mates in this FIBA tournament. I guess his experience in the NBA really help in a lot and he has so much confidence going into the finals. So we will see.

On the other hand, Serbia as well is playing good basketball, rotation and specially their defense. So this is going to be very exciting fight for the gold medal in this FIBA. And for sure those NBA players that have participated here will have a new kind of experience.

If a player has enough experience in the NBA, he is very likely to dominate tournaments like this. In fact, the outcome of tonight's game proves it.
I think it's fair to say that Dennis Schroder has mediocre stats for his NBA career, but it was more than enough for him to dominate and lead his team to victory in the final game of the World Cup tournament.

Dennis has his moments in NBA games. Don’t forget the monster contract he was offered (and then turned down to take way less money). He’s for sure a longtime NBA veteran and not a good example of the point you’re trying to make. Most NBA players are damn good. The gap between LeBron and the worst player in the league is smaller than most think.
2018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 10, 2023, 09:06:54 PM
lol. Just lol. Such an unexpected outcome in main event. Is this the begging of the end of Izzy era? 4 fight, 2 losses, 2 wins. Zebra record. Plus boring fights previously and lack of early finishes lately. Dont thing that we gonna get a rematch this time.

This fight was definitely a bit of a let down for Izzy fans. Adding insult to injury Strickland is out here today saying that he felt like he was fighting an amateur based on the punches that Izzy was throwing. I don’t know if this was lack of preparation, a dive for gambling profits, or if Izzy just wasn’t feeling it, but he’s got something to prove again…
2019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 10, 2023, 07:02:48 AM
Clean win for Strickland over Izzy. I don’t think many people were expecting that. Drake lost half a million dollars on the fight but I guess that probably doesn’t mean very much to him. I’m surprised the way it looked like Izzy prettt much accepted his fate and threw in the towel towards the end. It didn’t look like he left it all out there.
