1901  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does bitcoin price increase after halving? on: September 27, 2023, 07:23:36 AM
I think the price will increase after the halving. It sort of has to. If it doesn’t then billions of dollars in Bitcoin mining investments will become worthless and it could even cause a selling feedback loop that destroys Bitcoin. On the plus side, there is still plenty of money to prop up Bitcoin and keep investments profitable, as I believe wie will see.
1902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 27, 2023, 06:52:19 AM
And if I'm not mistaken, it was supposedly the East that should dominate last season, with Giannis had a good run with the Bucks in the regular games. And also Boston Celtics, who has the formidable duo of Tatum and Brown and then former Celtic defensive specialist in Marcus Smart. And then the Sixers with Joel winning the MVP and James Harden at the helm.

But the Nuggets has total different mentally in the West. They take the lead, the Suns, Warriors and the Lakers falter with injuries and it seems the focus that time is Lebron breaking Kareem's record. So let's see if the East can bounce back again and win the NBA trophy for this season to even up.
I think this could be a good question! I was also hopeful that the East would win last season, but that didn't happen.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Celtics play soon (even if it's preseason)
I have no doubt that Tatum, Brown and others will do everything they can to become champions

I feel like the Celtics had their chance and now the window is closing. With Smart gone a major piece of their team is missing. Plus a lot of their guys are getting older and while Tatum and Brown are still on top of their game, I don’t see them improving enough to make up for the rest of the team’s decay. They need another piece to get by the Bucks and Sixers.
1903  Economy / Speculation / Re: After the bull-run plan. on: September 26, 2023, 07:22:43 PM
Many people cycle trade btc.   They buy the dip and hold till they make 4x or better profit.

So if you grabbed coin at 15 or 16 k you may want to sell most of your coins at 69k and up.  Then buy at the next crash.

This is the exact strategy that should be implemented. Most people are just too impatient to wat through the long bear markets to see the green shoots of recovery & subsequent raging bull market. Buy during bear markets, sell some during bull markets, buy back cheaper in the next bear. It’s a simple, yet very effective strategy, it’s just most people are still incapable.

I never sell Bitcoin with the intention of buying it back for cheaper to earn a profit. If I did, I likely would have missed out on thousands of percent in gains. If you believe Bitcoin will remain the best investment in human history, why trade it? Is the best investment in the world not good enough for you that you need to risk missing out on the moon shot to try and make a few extra percent?
1904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 26, 2023, 07:19:39 PM

We only see a few of those kinds of altercations in the NBA, and that adds to the excitement of the game, actually. Klay vs. Booker, there's no way I will side with Booker, even though he is the better player. Basketball is a team game, not an individual one. Booker may boast about his stats, but Klay will just remind him of his 4 rings. I think Booker needs to win a championship first.

If not for CP3, the Suns wouldn't be a playoff team, that's a fact.

Too bad KD is in the Suns this season and Booker couldn't prove anything as long as KD is there except by going into the NBA championship this season. anyway, if they can go to the playoffs and win against the Denver Nuggets if ever they happen to be fighting to get to the next round, then that would be a huge improvement for them because we all know after that, it would be easy games unless they gonna go against the GSW once again but this time without CP3 and that's the best game we will ever see in the NBA playoffs this season.

I don’t think the Warriors match up well against the Suns. I also don’t think the Suns match up well against the Nuggets. With all the super teams seemingly in the west this year, I believe the playoff bracket may be more important this year than in those previous. I still think there are probably only 6 teams that could win it all this year.
With Bradley Beal on Suns, I think it's a pretty good match up against the Warriors. But I imagine warriors beating Suns on outside shooting if Curry plays like a point god then it is over for the Suns with their weak Center. just saying.

Suns against Nuggets is ridiculous, Jokic will eat Ayton alive. I'm still rooting for the Nuggets this year!

I agree with your take that Jokic would outplay Ayton. I disagree that Ayton is a weak center that would be exploited by the Warriors though. I actually think Ayton would end up being the deciding factor in that series, as I think the Warriors are missing a piece in the middle that can determine the outcome of the game. We’ll have to see how Ayton looks this year though. Last year showed some regression in his skills, but that may have been a coaching issue.
1905  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Joe Biden Ok on: September 26, 2023, 07:16:49 PM
no 80 year old grandfather is fine, he should retire soon and enjoy the beautiful days with his grandchildren lol  Grin

You may be saying that ironically, but it is a very valid point and I am sure there must be millions of people who are citizens of the United States, who share such opinion of yours.

After all, if civilians at his age are already retired. Why is he an exception?  Even if it is a personal decision of his, it is obvious that politics lately have a trend towards keeping people in power up to their 80s and 90s.

Whether that is positive of not, depends on the personal point of view of each of us.

I hate grouping everyone like this. There are certainly 80 year old individuals out there that are mentally as sharp as a tack. However, Joe Biden certainly isn’t one of them. It may not even just be his age. He was lying through his teeth 30 years ago to the point people thought his political career was done. In reality he likely has had mental problems like the onset of dementia for decades, which made him a perfect puppet to thrust into power.
1906  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: September 26, 2023, 07:14:07 PM
I’m surprised this image issue on the forum is still not resolved beyond asking users to find ways to replace all their image links. I’m curious why this is a thing, but I assume it’s that nobody wants to put in the work to fix it without benefitting personally, otherwise it would have been fixed months ago. Am I going to have to fix all my own image links or is the forum going to do it at some point in the future? I have switched to using talking for new image posting.
1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: interest in the cryptocurrency on: September 26, 2023, 07:11:55 PM
In other words, don’t believe lies about an investment before making it? I think Bitcoin is fairly well know at this point and while most of its investors probably have very little understanding how it works, I think there is plenty of trusted sources for information. Some sites like this even used to let you speak directly with important individuals (before weak leadership chased them all away).
1908  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you could be a dictator of USA how would you use POW coins to help? on: September 26, 2023, 07:09:18 PM
I’m not sure how PoW coins could help America. Most of the ideas being pitched don’t really seem to solve problems as much as force a use case. If I were the dictator of America, I would probably look into JFK’s executive order 11110 and also make politicians submitting a budget deficit illegal. These two actions I suspect would solve a majority of the world’s problems over a couple decades.
1909  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 26, 2023, 07:05:51 PM
With the threat of a mtgox massive sudden dump on the market seemingly not being an issue for another year, the current threat seems to be Binance failing as a result of reduced investment. This is likely caused by wider economic issues and historically high interest rates. I suspect these problems are short term and temporary, but may create a nice dip to buy in the coming weeks.
1910  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have any DCA plan on casino on: September 26, 2023, 07:04:08 PM
I think most successful casinos don’t really want the additional responsibility nor regulator attention that would come with releasing a token. Their main line of business is too important and profitable for them to play games to try and get more money from their user base. That being said, if Stake offered a token where I could get a piece of their profits I would be all over it.
1911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 26, 2023, 07:02:14 PM
This should be a surprise to nobody at this point. Microstrategy is all in on Bitcoin. It is clear by this point that they will keep buying as much as they can with any profit they can get their hands on and if there is investment demand they will issue more shares to raise funds for more Bitcoin. I don’t see this changing anytime soon.

1914  Economy / Gambling / Re: - UGA - a Gamblers Union on: September 24, 2023, 09:07:13 PM
It seems a little like this is a plan to get a bunch of people together with gambling horror stories in order to harass casino owners into some sort of support or settlement. Maybe I’m completely wrong, but that is what I’m sniffing from reading the plan here. I guess maybe that’s what Unions are, so not a big deal. Just trying to illuminate the motivation here.
1915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 24, 2023, 09:03:59 PM
Elon doesnt matter, he is just one guy.   Always was true, the Bitcoin effect is not one person and I dont think he is pivotal.  Nothing to do with liking or disliking him, even when BTC was doing very well and he was helping its hype perhaps I'd still have said the same.  It dont matter, we are hoping BTC is part of the world from the smallest people to the largest perhaps but its really only about the general dynamics true.  If he doesnt see its of any benefit thats his own problem to handle, love to hear he has ideas and innovation but I never really read anything interesting in that respect.

That’s not really true. He isn’t just one guy. He has several multi-billion dollar companies and an army of supporters that is growing by the day. He has the power to get Tesla to accept BTC, and he and his companies could buy potentially hundreds of billions of dollars worth of BTC. That alone makes him arguably more important than a Bitcoin spot ETF approval.
1916  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Joe Biden Ok on: September 23, 2023, 10:51:03 PM
Obviously Joe Biden is suffering from a severe mental and physical decline. It has gotten so bad that people are sick of it. Today at his rally he was interrupted and unable to continue because of people chanting “F*%# Joe Biden!” It’s hard to believe this is the new normal, but for people trying to buy a home or barely able to afford groceries, Joe Biden is their biggest enemy.
1917  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Simple Reason Why Bitcoin and Crypto Prices Must Fall to Zero on: September 23, 2023, 05:26:01 PM
I can understand people saying that most cryptos will fall to zero. It’s probably true as most of them provide no value and solve no problems. However, it’s pretty ignorant to say that about Bitcoin. There are companies pouring billions of dollars into mining facilities and infrastructure. I don’t think it’s realistic to think they’d let their investments become worthless. I think we’re much closer to the bottom now than the top.
1918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 23, 2023, 04:30:23 PM
Chris Haynes is reporting that Portland is refusing to speak to Miami about a Damian Lillard trade now. Apparently they are tired of negotiations they believe are taking advantage of them and have tasked Miami with putting together a multiple team trade without any communication from them. That’s unlikely to succeed in my opinion.

The question is, who will get the trade they want? Harden to the Clippers or Dame to the Heat? Maybe both or neither?
1919  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [11.2kW SOLAR/WIND/MAN] NastyMining Green Energy Project ☀️💨💪🔋 on: September 23, 2023, 04:00:23 PM
It’s been a couple years since I’ve updated information relating to this project. I should probably do that soon. It’s pretty amazing how much of an impact having alternative energy production at home for the last 6 years has had, not just on my bills but also the environment when I look at the statistics. Hopefully bitcointalk will get their image displaying issue resolved so the information here isn’t lost.
1920  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 23, 2023, 06:40:02 AM
I received the email today confirming the mtgox rumor going around that they will not be distributing any BTC until October of 2024. This is good news for people who were worried about a crash incoming as it kicks this downward pressure down the road a bit. I suspect by then we’ll have an ETF and prices will already be on the way up.

got the email too. not exactly they said - those whose payment info is good could get payouts as early as the end of this (2023) year. for those whose info could not be verified the repayment period will be stretched out to october 2024.

this is at least better than holding everyone who does have good info in the system up, which is what they have been doing.

but i will believe that when i have the coin in my own wallet.

Ya, when it comes to mtgox I always assume that deadline=expected payout date. I do hope you’re right and we get our funds sooner, but I wouldn’t rule out another delay either. For me personally, I would consider this a sign that the ETF approval will beat the mtgox distribution but I could of course be wrong. Just a guess on my part.
