1821  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: October 04, 2023, 07:01:22 AM
Someone posted this picture online showing a Cybertruck Release Candidate with a built in Starlink antenna. No idea of this will be an accessory that you can choose or not, but it’s pretty cool to think that you can get satellite internet on these bad boys. Hopefully we’ll get a look at what options are available before the end of the year.

Steve Kerr seems ready to let Chris Paul start in the Warriors lineup. He said today that he plans to let Klay Thompson guard the opposing team’s power forward in this upcoming season. I’m not sure how long that will last as Klay certainly can’t match up against guys like Anthony Davis. I think CP3 will be coming off the bench pretty quick.
1823  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: October 04, 2023, 02:10:40 AM
I’m still looking for people to give me recommendations on how and what I should AI in order to try and generate gambling predictions. I had better get on it because I’d love to kick off the NBA season this year with a thread predicting games. Maybe even throw some money at it for fun. If you have any experience playing with AI in this manner, PM me.
1824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: October 04, 2023, 02:07:20 AM
With all the hype surrounding Ryan Garcia and his last embarrassing loss to Tank Davis, the pressure is definitely on him to rebound and get himself a big win. Two losses in a row for a guy that everyone was claiming was going to be the next great thing would be pretty bad for his career. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Woj is reporting that while James Harden hasn’t been to training camp for the Philadelphia 76ers yet, they are expecting him to report tomorrow. Woj is usually right on so I’m expecting that to happen. It appears Harden has blinked first in his fued with his GM and might be in a Sixers uniform to start off the season after all.
1826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 03, 2023, 05:45:48 PM
I doubt I will gamble in old age.  A big part of gambling is the fun for me and for that I have to watch the games and know the players.  I just don't see myself caring if history is any guide.  I used to watch all the sports but over the years things like strikes have led me to have less of an interest.  I barely ever see a football or baseball game these days.  I imagine someday I will also lose interest in following basketball or replace it with a different hobby that will make it so gambling for me would be less entertaining and thus I likely wouldn't participate.  Who knows though, maybe gambling will take over and we'll all be doing it everyday in the future.
1827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 5090 and others on: October 03, 2023, 05:43:33 PM
any good coins worth mining with this?

No, it doesn't even exist yet.

The specs seem like they will be pretty good though.  With the GPU market in shambles at the moment and even with cheap power mining isn't very profitable, I wonder if this next gen of GPU might not be a bad pickup to run for the next couple of years while the market recovers.  I could see this next generation sticking around and staying profitable for the next 3-4 years maybe.  While that isn't as great as the run the 1080 or Radeon VII had, today that seems like it would be a dream come true.  I might have to pick one up to see for myself.
1828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Yes, The Biden Impeachment Hearing Presented Evidence Of Corruption — Lots Of It on: October 03, 2023, 05:38:53 PM
I honestly don't think it matters how much evidence they have or present.  The system is broken.  They literally have video of him talking about exactly what he did in Ukraine to help his son and nothing happens.  I doubt that proving he and his family took 8 figures in bribes will do anything.  In the grand scheme of things where most lifelong politicians end up being worth hundreds of millions of dollars for illegal stock trades, I don't think they probably consider Biden taking a few million here and there for his family as a big deal.  They'd rather point fingers at Trump for some reason, which I'm not even sure why he's been mentioned in this hearing.
1829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's first tweet since 2018? on: October 03, 2023, 05:32:39 PM
Source: https://twitter.com/satoshi/status/1708886029636137256

As I was about to sleep, I came across this one. Can't believe he made his first tweet since 2018.

Here's Satoshi's latest tweet and I quote:

"Bitcoin is a predicate machine.  Over the following months, we shall explore different aspects that were not explicitly contained within the white paper.  These aspects are all parts of bitcoin, and are important.  Some of these ideas were touched upon in the early years; now is the time to extrapolate and explain."

When I look at the comments of this tweet, there are mixed reactions like he's not the real Satoshi, scheduled post, he just got out of jail, etc.

But his account has blue verified check mark at least.

I don't know what to say but he does have some plans in store for Bitcoin. What's your take on this guys?

Obviously it isn't satoshi, but someone has had control of this account for some time now.  Who knows the reasoning for the post now.  Maybe Elon finally is freeing up usernames that have sat idle for a long time and someone jumped at it.  Maybe the person who had control of it finally decided to sell it to someone else.

I'm hearing rumors it had something to do with nchain and faketoshi but you never know what to believe when it comes to that camp.  For now I think I'll just stick with the fact it isn't satoshi and let the irrelevance of the tweet be what it is.
1830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin devs really needs to focus more on making user interface easy to use on: October 03, 2023, 05:29:41 PM
Bitcoin development has been going slow and steady.  It's a tightrope to walk while introducing new features yet keeping the interface usable for everyone.  I personally liked the way they handled the fee market and coin control, but you are right that they are way behind services like metamask when it comes to interfacing with websites, etc.  Websites can still use simple tricks to make payments simple for the end user, so your complaint can also be directed at those building the websites you're accessing, but I agree that a Bitcoin wallet more focused on browser based transactions would help adoption.  You have to remember that the core devs think Bitcoin is digital gold though, so this is probably not high on their list.
1831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 03, 2023, 05:26:31 PM
How about this?

Media Day Jimmy Buckets. Grin Nice hairstyle.
I'm trying to figure out a Hollywood artist from a certain movie that he looks like. Was it from the Blade? Wesley Snipes? Cheesy
This is the first time I saw Jimmy have that kind of hair and it's somehow unusual. If he didn't wear that Miami Heat outfit, I might not recognize him.

Jimmy Butler is definitely making a name for himself with his hairstyles at media day.  I wonder how much longer it will be allowed to continue before the team takes action as I imagine it can be a bit of a distraction when they use those images during games, etc.  I personally enjoy it a lot though and look forward to seeing what hairstyle he comes with next year.  We'll have to wait and see how the season and next offseason goes before we can really make a decent guess.
1832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New ID requirements for Gamblers in Australia on: October 03, 2023, 05:23:53 PM
A few days ago i shared a news where Australia will ban Gambling through credit cards, now it seems that they are moving another step ahead in this and now Australia Introduces New ID Requirements for Online Gamblers

The general purpose for this is to reduce gambling in Australia but they will make excuses that this is done to overcome underage gambling etc.
Quote
The measure would mitigate certain problems such as underage gambling or gambling harm, Responsible Wagering Australia says

Although most casinos ask for KYC, yet minors still gamble on their elders ' IDs (Elder brother or father). I wonder by introducing this ID verification what special Australia is looking to achieve from it?

I couldn't tell you what they're looking to achieve from it, but it does seem like a concerning development regardless.  I'm not sure what Australia and Canada are up to these days but they seem like they're trying to get an ever tightening grip on their societies.  I don't know enough about this to have an educated opinion though.  Hopefully it is a best case scenario and this is some sort of move to make gambling more accessible and widespread in the future.
1833  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 03, 2023, 04:06:05 PM
Stock market is starting to take a beating with everyone expecting a recession to hit in the near future. Personally, with inflation where it is I wouldn’t want to be out of the market, but surely traders are jumping ship. We’re nearing the time when the optimistic are expecting Bitcoin to decouple from traditional markets and jump while everything else burns. We will see. Watch and learn all you can.
1834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You Ever Made Such Mistake Before, But Won still? on: October 03, 2023, 03:11:38 PM
I haven’t ever accidentally bet more than I wanted to, but I have accidentally taken the wrong side of a bet before and won. When you use new platforms you always have to be careful not to get complacent and pay attention to what you’re doing, at least until you figure out the user interface and can avoid making stupid mistakes.
1835  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage greed to place your bet on: October 03, 2023, 02:21:01 PM
Managing greed when gambling is simple. Just assume that you’re going to lose and think about the added enjoyment from playing. If losing that bet seems like it will suck more happiness from your life than winning would add joy, then you’re probably gambling for the wrong reasons and would be better suited pumping quarters into an arcade game.
1836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Tax Efficient With Your Gambling Habbits? on: October 03, 2023, 02:19:22 PM
I am definitely not efficient when it comes to taxes and gambling. Being totally honest, my tax plan when it comes to gambling is to make sure I lose everything I bet in the end so that I don’t have any taxes to worry about. Maybe not the best plan, but it seems to work out pretty well and I always enjoy myself.
1837  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bc.game not honouring deposit bonus on: October 03, 2023, 02:17:42 PM
Thanks for bringing this to everyone’s attention and good luck in getting it resolved. This is a danger when it comes to using smaller online casinos. Especially if they have great incentives to get you to deposit funds. I hope that you are able to withdraw your funds at some point, but remember that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
1838  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The ukraine russia war it's not about ukraine or russia it's about eu on: October 03, 2023, 02:16:04 PM
I think the war has less to do with the people of Europe and more to do with who will be making money off of them. You saw the first thing the West did was blow up the pipeline to give themselves a hand up in selling them oil. Now we’re trying to exhaust Russia’s finances to cripple their ability to mine/deliver more of their resources to Ukraine and force them to sell to other countries at a discount.
1839  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 03, 2023, 02:12:10 PM
It looks like the recent explosion upwards might have been due to the news that you can now buy a Honda with Bitcoin. I think that the ETF approval will likely see similar price action, albeit probably a little more explosive. We’ve seen a little bit of retracing since the pop, but it certainly feels like we’ve got more room to run here as we await what will cause the final dip before blast off.
1840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 03, 2023, 02:09:44 PM
Just to stretch the details about the "MrBeast" news. I don't know why he picked the Hornets but this will be a good one for them.

I don't know exactly how much this kind of jersey-patch partnership costs, but I assume he probably didn't have much of a choice. Most likely, the more popular teams are no longer available to new sponsors because they already have long-term partnerships with big brands. However, it's really cool that an influencer like MrBeast can promote himself this way.

I'm just wondering what kind of expectations Mr. Beast would like to achieve with this kind of move. We all know that he is one of the most popular influencers already, so people already know who he is, and it would be easy for him to market whatever products or services he likes.

As for the figure just to have a slight idea about this deal, this is what happened.

Feastables managed to make over $10 million in the months following its launch.

He picked the Charlotte Hornets because that’s his home town team. Pretty amazing that he’s come so far as a YouTuber and is branching out into traditional advertising deals while having such a huge platform himself. He’s clearly trying to take his chocolate brand public and cash out huge, which is what I’d do as well if people were buying chocolate bars off me for $3 a pop.
